Great overview and comparison, Mark. 😎 The new ZV-E10 will be good for anyone getting their first interchangeable lens camera for sure and for most people it'll be enough. The Sony A7C has been growing on me big time minus that grip, EVF, and ergonomics. 🤦🏼♂️ I'm loving the small size and video quality out of that little camera. It keeps up with higher-end cameras from Sony.

Thanks for this. I was looking for this video for a while. I'm from Europe and both cameras are substantially more expensive, so this really helped put things into perspective.
That was an easy one for me. I already have a NEX 5R. And over the years, I found it had not enough weight to use for self defense. The A7C is suitable, only the grip needs to be augmented with one of the SmallRig offerings... With Sony's 85mm 1.8 lens attached, it hits pretty hard.
The best thing about this channel and Mark Bennett himself, is that while his gear preference is very apparent, he does not impose it on his viewers and let's them decide which is best for them. I hope more content creators follow this kind of videos.

I don’t understand the part about the crop - if you have an APSC 24mm f2.8 lens on the ZV-E10 and a full frame 24mm f2.8 lens on the A7C, would they not give you the same shot?

Very tough call - I will tell you that I have the A7iii and I use the GH5 for my UA-cam. I like the 10-bit and the use ability. But because the A7C has great autofocus and that flip out screen - that will work great too. If they were both the same price I think I would recommend someone get the A7C because of the autofocus and you’ll have a full frame camera for photos too.

I didnt know APS-C mode was only using 10mp??? Maybe I should switch to the ZV-E10. In the future I won't have to worry much about a wide lens so if there is any crop with the ZV-E10 it wont hurt me.

Talking about bokeh, for a long time I thought the bokeh would be different on both camera at same aperture. But the thing is, it’s not. An f1.8 lens will have the same bokeh on both camera. And it’s true they capture the same amount of light so that why they have the same bokeh. SO here’s how it really work. If you’re shooting the same pics without moving the camera, the background blur is the SAME. But you won’t have the same composition because of the crop on the apsc sensor. So long story short the bokeh is the same on both sensor, but because of the crop on the apsc camera, you have to step back to have the same composition as the full frame. So that’s where you loose some bokeh. Feel free to tell me if I’m wrong. Anyway I did my test and I’m just telling you the results Note : I owned a Sony zve10 and compared it to the Sony a7c 📸 Love your work 🔥
No - you’re not wrong - the bokeh is the same if it is a 1.8 but because of the different angle of view, a 1.8 full frame will look blurrier than a 1.8 apsc when the angle of view is the same. So a 50 1.8 full frame will have the same bokeh and brightness as a 50 1.8 on the apsc. But since the you have to move the apsc back to get the same framing - it will be less blurry at the same framing. Conversely, If you cropped in your 50mm full frame to 75 - it will look the same as the 50 apsc in terms of blur. But for practicality, people say a 1.8 apsc has a depth of field of a 2.7 full frame equivalent because that’s how it looks when comparing the same angle of view. It’s just an easier easy of visualizing what you get.
I have two serious issues with the ZV-E10. 1st is that rolling shutter thingy, but I can live with it. When I'm vlogging, sometimes I move the camera too fast. But who cares in a vlog? The other one is the background-difussor-bokeh-whatever-button. Have you noticed, that the exposure goes higher when enabling it? Annoying. As a former Canon user, I bought the ZV-E10 just to find out, if I can handle Sony and the Sony colors and the Sony menus ... My main focus was buying the a7C. And I love this little camera, it's so easy in using it for streaming and it makes great videos, with great colors, as well as photos. Can't wait to get the a7C. Thanks - I never use that background defocus and I don’t think anyone should. It was meant to draw in new vloggers - but it may not give you good results as you have experienced. Set the camera to aperture priority and control the fstop yourself. It will do the same thing with better results 👍👍

I thought using the kit lens with this feature would be cool, but no, it isn't. Nevermind. I love this camera. It's so much fun shooting with it, and it's so lightweight. Every camera has pros and cons. It took some time to handle the colors, but now (with a little help, from my ... ah, you know) the picture is way better than from my Canon.
I am a bit surprised a7c still costs 1800, I mean a7iv is 2500, so its either zve10 or just save a bit more for a7iv at that point of having 1800 euro. A7c should cost 1300-1400

If it’s video based - do the ZV-E10. Its focus system is updated and has more features for video and the flip out screen is more useful than the flip up screen.
I enjoyed the comparison, and am just curious why you often use the ZV-E10 in the studio or other situations where smaller size doesn't seem like an advantage. Since you own an A7IV, what keeps you from using that? I had ordered a ZV-E10 but canceled it when I realized there was no ETA for when they'll be available again, and once I tried an A7C and decided I didn't want to give up its full frame quality, EVF, IBIS, weather sealing, and retro design of the silver version.
Sometimes I just have it setup on on the tripod, other times I’m talking about the camera itself, other times I want the product showcase mode, etc. and I love the quality and the ease of use. Also, I have a 24mm GM, and that gives me just the right field of view for my studio and that’s a great lens. And sometimes, I just like switching it up 🤣🤣. But yes, out of the two, the A7C is better in almost every way. And I would choose it over the ZV-E10 as my primary camera without question.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisGahhh that might be reason alone to get it. But how much do you have to spend to get a lens with a better shot than the $1,000 vze10 16mm set up? I could budget for $2k maybe but $3k? I’m not sure I’m getting the gains. For $2k I still don’t know if I would be getting the gains compared to $1k vze10 set up. Product showcase is really nice but it seems like that would only be needed with shots containing your face. Otherwise, it’s kind of like the defocus mode, perhaps is more of a gimmick that could be helpful, but with the right settings you can do it yourself. Maybe hmmm.
I cpukd have got the ZV10 but I went for the A7C I think its so much better in terms of 4k video for head shots etc and faster focus and log profiles are insane on it. I'm mostly going to use it for my headshot content and for some b roll too can't wait got it for a bargain this Friday!

I want to know if its better to get a7c because you are going to be able to use it for a long time or just settle to zv e10 since I am a beginner. Im asking this since switching from camera to camera and lenses to lenses is going to cost a lot. So do you think picking the right one in where I will fully invest is the right thing to do? Ill have to be brutally frugal though 😂
Go with the ZV-E10 - it is much cheaper and you can get great results. The lenses will still work on the full frame cameras - they will shoot in aps-c crop mode. Of course, the A7C is better, but you have to factor in lens costs (much more expensive on the a7c). You can always sell the ZV-E10 later and upgrade if you want. But the image quality is very, very similar to the A7C.
I live in a place with beautiful landscapes and absolutely wild skies with sudden downpours imminent most of the time. I'd have bought the ZV-e10 for B-roll already if it had weather sealing for $100 more... Maybe I wait for Sony's underwater housing? But those are expensive, like you end up in A6600 price territory.

I'd love to see the images around a campfire. I do a lot of camping/outdoorsy stuff & the low light is the biggest challenge for me. I've been GoPro-only for so long, iPhone XS Max Pro, so I admit my entire kit is a bit ... dated? I only get ONE upgrade right now & I want to make it one that will actually grow with me. im not sure anyone is comparing between both. sure the a7c is a better spec camera, but what ive learnt is people mostly dont need the most spec, just the spec for what we do only. ive got 4k cameras but i mostly do my personal vlogs in 1080p. i've come to a conclusion for my vlogs i need stabilization the most, everything else is secondary. a stable 1080p image is better than a shaky 4k image.
@@truthseeker6804 nice choices. The Olympus will be more stable - it’s crazy good, the G85 will be excellent but not quite as stable. The autofocus will work great on the Olympus as well. Terrible autofocus on G85 but better video features overall. Don’t forget the EM Mark II is very similar to the EM Mark III if you want to save some money. I haven't no - but it's an idea. My guess is that the autofocus won't be quite as reliable and that you might have issues with Catalyst Browse, but it would be good to test

I need one camera for general A-roll and one for my close shots B-roll. Exciting to start a new channel. Congrats!! The two lenses I have in the description of this video will suit you well I think. The Sigma 16mm f1.4 and the Sigma 30mm f1.4. You can use either for a talking headshot or for food b-roll. It will be up to you to choose depending on the size of your room and how far away you set the tripod.

I think I'm in the same boat. Was looking to replace my a6300, and I think the e10 takes the cake since I already have good glass for it. And you're the first UA-camr that talked specifically about the cost of getting into a full frame camera system. I shoot mainly video, so I'm not worried about a view finder and if the tracking is that good, then the screen will do just fine
Hey, I want to purchase an Apsc camera, I have 2 options, first is zv-e10 at 720 dollar or 60k INR with kit lens, second is a6600 body only at 790 dollar or 66k INR. Which one I should buy.
Since they’re so close in price and I don’t think you’ll actually use the kit lens much - I would do the a6600. Weather sealed, bigger battery, EVF and IBIS. You won’t have the flip out screen, and you won’t be able to use catalyst browse as the a6600 has no gyro data. But other than that, the a6600 is a more capable camera.

I do enjoy flattery!! If it’s the ZV-E10 - it’s definitely the Sigma 16mm 1.4. geni.us/BU8Z This lens will also work great on the A7C, but the camera will switch into apsc crop mode. But with the A7C you gave another option the Samyang 24mm 1.8 geni.us/LF1g I like the sigma myself - but it won’t be great for photos on the A7C because you lose too many megapixels. For video it’s fine.

Which one is best for making outside videos (landscape, nature, being on the road...)? I was set on the ZV-E10 but it appears it's not doing well with dust and rainy days, so is it much of an inside camera than outside?

@@MustangCollectibles The same. the A7C is the most compact full frame camera with great dynamic range. For landscapes, a lot of photographers use the A7riii and A7RIV because they have higher megapixels which can be helpful in landscape photos, but the A7C is smaller, lighter, cheaper, has a flip screen and better video features. And the 24 megapixels is still great.
If i have a budget of lets say 2000 dollars, is it better to get a7c (is II or different compact full frame coming anytime soon) and save up for lenses, or get ZV E-10 and some lenses and gear? I use it for travel and mostly photography 🙏🏼

@@DutchUltra I think it would yes. You can get that nice shallow depth of field and better lowlight and nice lens options while having your ZV1's as companions.
Did you say "APS-C Lens"? There are lenses specifically for APS-C cameras? Can you not use a Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens with Sony E-mount on either of these cameras?
You can use any emount lens on either, but the sigma is an apsc lens - specifically. The A7C will go into apsc crop mode when it’s attached. In video it’s great, with photos, it means you’ll have a 12 megapixel photo on the A7C

the zv-e10 is a much better video camera. it’s also has a better focusing system even for photos. If you were a veteran photographer, the A7ii would be better for you, but for everyone else, the ZV-E10 will give better results. And for video and streaming - definitely the ZV-E10 is better. Much better
Hi there. I an amateur thus my questions might be a bit of veery basics. I own ths sony 20mmf2.8 lens that I am using with a6400 for videos. If I purchase the a7C can I still use this lens? The results will be better? Can I create a combo a7c+20mmf2.8+rodeGowireless mic on a crane m2 gimbal?
you can use the same lens yes, but you really won’t see much of a difference on the A7C. The A7C will shoot in apsc mode with that lens attached and the image will look very similar. Plus, it the a6400 will be lighter and easier to use with your M2. The A7C is a bit heavy with that gimbal. Look at my videos about HLG grading if you want to get the most out of your a6400. It’s a great camera and its image quality can be as good as the A7C I’m most situations.
I recommend the GH5 extremely highly 🤣. As long as you know you have to manually focus - it is the best value video camera in the world in my opinion. With HEVC you can only do HLG. I personally shoot Vlog 10bit and use a leeming lut. I used the Sigma 16mm 1.4 in this video. it’s my favourite lens for the GH5

Looks like I could use that one too for what I need it for. Basically I am shooting on a fujifilm Xt4 but need a 2nd cam without recording limit. And would prefer h.265 HEVC files as I usually film 1.5 hour or longer videos. And the new M1 Mac chip is great with the Fuji codec.
this is just an overview of the capabilities- Sony is sending out an A7C for the real world tests. you will find the image comparable in many ways. But of course lens selection will play a roll
for video it will work fine. it will go into aps-c crop mode and you will have the equivalent of a 16mm field of view with a depth of field of f2.7 (background blur). it will still have a 1.8 of light

Some people love the rangefinder. I could go either way, but I do know it might be nice to have a viewfinder that I can put up to my eye without my honker pressing the screen. 🤥🤣

I found on Amazon the seller "Digital Goja" they have 100% good feedback and are listed on Sigma's website as an authorized dealer. During the hours (EST) of approx 7:30 pm - 7:30 am, they lower the prices of their sigma lenses (at least the trio I spoke of). The prices they lower them to can vary a bit, but if you watch. You can save $40 per lens (sometimes a little more) from the standard dealer pricing. I contacted them before buying to see if these were by chance open box / used due to lower cost. They said they are new lenses.

As an I want to start on UA-cam and living in Europe where in most countries there is 20%VAT included in the final price the ZV-E10 option is better for me. I can get the ZV-E10 and the Sigma 16mm f1.4, the Sigma 30mm f1.4, and the Sigma 56mm f1.4 for about 80 € more than the A7C BODY ONLY If I get the 3 Full Frame Sigma lenses that correspond to the ASP-C ones the overall cost is 2X Basically it seems that if you want to p the level in Photo Gear it is 2X the cost lol You have to decide if the 2X investment is viable for your business case. In my case it is not.

I’ve been using the Zv-e10 for photography for over a year and got nothing but compliments. I even use it in professional settings. I just made the choice to jump to full frame. After obsessing over a7iv or a7c I went with the cheaper option. This review really helped me. My only concern is my sigma 56mm f1.4 is my favorite lens. I can not find reviews on how it looks on a full frame. Any insight on how it’s gonna workout?
Well, in video it will work great - you'll still get full 4k resolution - the A7C will just go into APS-C crop mode. In photos it will be the same. The drawback with photos is that you will go down to about 10 megapixels, so you won't really want to print those photos or crop in post.

Finally after testing lenses in a camera shop in london the Sigma 16mm dissapointed loads as did the tamron 17-28 (maybe both are good for vlogging but not video making). After the trying the sigma 24-70 it was a no brainer, better image quality more versatile and more dynamic but comes at a price. IF you got the money then i would recommend that one sigma 24-70 2.8 e mount
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Im no pro infact im a rank amateur, the image quality on the 24-70 was instantly better and more versatile as its a zoom lens too. The Sigma is an apsc lens so you get a smaller image anyway and the tamron 17-28 is a small range to move within. there was a small problem that the shutter speed was set wrong but I will go back to the shop and look at them all again before buying but im pretty sure i will be getting the sigma 24-70 2.8. Told my mate in berlin about my choice and he said yeah good lens, got one of them. He´s a pro video maker and editor since over 20 years so i think i made a good choice. I dont like that prime lenses are just stuck at one size but maybe that changes as i grow with the camera

The Sony A7C has been growing on me big time minus that grip, EVF, and ergonomics. 🤦🏼♂️ I'm loving the small size and video quality out of that little camera. It keeps up with higher-end cameras from Sony.

I don’t understand the part about the crop - if you have an APSC 24mm f2.8 lens on the ZV-E10 and a full frame 24mm f2.8 lens on the A7C, would they not give you the same shot?
No, the apsc shot would look like a 36mm 4.2 if you were standing in the same place. It has a crop factor of 1.5x

Very tough call - I will tell you that I have the A7iii and I use the GH5 for my UA-cam. I like the 10-bit and the use ability. But because the A7C has great autofocus and that flip out screen - that will work great too. If they were both the same price I think I would recommend someone get the A7C because of the autofocus and you’ll have a full frame camera for photos too.

3:58 hate to say this... the hinge may be a weak point. My hinge broke on my A7c by just flipping it open. I don't know yet if Sony will fix it under warranty.
I didnt know APS-C mode was only using 10mp??? Maybe I should switch to the ZV-E10. In the future I won't have to worry much about a wide lens so if there is any crop with the ZV-E10 it wont hurt me.

Yes - it’s the perfect camera to accompany the A7C. You’ll be able to match them perfectly with just a few tweaks.

Talking about bokeh, for a long time I thought the bokeh would be different on both camera at same aperture. But the thing is, it’s not. An f1.8 lens will have the same bokeh on both camera. And it’s true they capture the same amount of light so that why they have the same bokeh.
SO here’s how it really work. If you’re shooting the same pics without moving the camera, the background blur is the SAME. But you won’t have the same composition because of the crop on the apsc sensor.
So long story short the bokeh is the same on both sensor, but because of the crop on the apsc camera, you have to step back to have the same composition as the full frame. So that’s where you loose some bokeh.
Feel free to tell me if I’m wrong.
Anyway I did my test and I’m just telling you the results
Note : I owned a Sony zve10 and compared it to the Sony a7c 📸

No - you’re not wrong - the bokeh is the same if it is a 1.8 but because of the different angle of view, a 1.8 full frame will look blurrier than a 1.8 apsc when the angle of view is the same. So a 50 1.8 full frame will have the same bokeh and brightness as a 50 1.8 on the apsc. But since the you have to move the apsc back to get the same framing - it will be less blurry at the same framing. Conversely, If you cropped in your 50mm full frame to 75 - it will look the same as the 50 apsc in terms of blur. But for practicality, people say a 1.8 apsc has a depth of field of a 2.7 full frame equivalent because that’s how it looks when comparing the same angle of view. It’s just an easier easy of visualizing what you get.

I have two serious issues with the ZV-E10. 1st is that rolling shutter thingy, but I can live with it. When I'm vlogging, sometimes I move the camera too fast. But who cares in a vlog? The other one is the background-difussor-bokeh-whatever-button. Have you noticed, that the exposure goes higher when enabling it? Annoying. As a former Canon user, I bought the ZV-E10 just to find out, if I can handle Sony and the Sony colors and the Sony menus ... My main focus was buying the a7C. And I love this little camera, it's so easy in using it for streaming and it makes great videos, with great colors, as well as photos. Can't wait to get the a7C. As always: Nice video, you have a new fan.
Thanks - I never use that background defocus and I don’t think anyone should. It was meant to draw in new vloggers - but it may not give you good results as you have experienced. Set the camera to aperture priority and control the fstop yourself. It will do the same thing with better results 👍👍

I thought using the kit lens with this feature would be cool, but no, it isn't. Nevermind. I love this camera. It's so much fun shooting with it, and it's so lightweight. Every camera has pros and cons. It took some time to handle the colors, but now (with a little help, from my ... ah, you know) the picture is way better than from my Canon.

I am a bit surprised a7c still costs 1800, I mean a7iv is 2500, so its either zve10 or just save a bit more for a7iv at that point of having 1800 euro. A7c should cost 1300-1400

If it’s video based - do the ZV-E10. Its focus system is updated and has more features for video and the flip out screen is more useful than the flip up screen.
I enjoyed the comparison, and am just curious why you often use the ZV-E10 in the studio or other situations where smaller size doesn't seem like an advantage. Since you own an A7IV, what keeps you from using that? I had ordered a ZV-E10 but canceled it when I realized there was no ETA for when they'll be available again, and once I tried an A7C and decided I didn't want to give up its full frame quality, EVF, IBIS, weather sealing, and retro design of the silver version.
Sometimes I just have it setup on on the tripod, other times I’m talking about the camera itself, other times I want the product showcase mode, etc. and I love the quality and the ease of use. Also, I have a 24mm GM, and that gives me just the right field of view for my studio and that’s a great lens. And sometimes, I just like switching it up 🤣🤣. But yes, out of the two, the A7C is better in almost every way. And I would choose it over the ZV-E10 as my primary camera without question.

I could budget for $2k maybe but $3k? I’m not sure I’m getting the gains. For $2k I still don’t know if I would be getting the gains compared to $1k vze10 set up. Product showcase is really nice but it seems like that would only be needed with shots containing your face. Otherwise, it’s kind of like the defocus mode, perhaps is more of a gimmick that could be helpful, but with the right settings you can do it yourself. Maybe hmmm.

I cpukd have got the ZV10 but I went for the A7C I think its so much better in terms of 4k video for head shots etc and faster focus and log profiles are insane on it.
I'm mostly going to use it for my headshot content and for some b roll too can't wait got it for a bargain this Friday!

I would do the A7C - it will give you a great full frame now. You can always sell it later for maybe small loss and get the A7iv is budget permits.

I am new in cameras and I want to do some youtube videos and general photography during occasions. I want to know if its better to get a7c because you are going to be able to use it for a long time or just settle to zv e10 since I am a beginner.
Im asking this since switching from camera to camera and lenses to lenses is going to cost a lot. So do you think picking the right one in where I will fully invest is the right thing to do? Ill have to be brutally frugal though 😂
Go with the ZV-E10 - it is much cheaper and you can get great results. The lenses will still work on the full frame cameras - they will shoot in aps-c crop mode. Of course, the A7C is better, but you have to factor in lens costs (much more expensive on the a7c). You can always sell the ZV-E10 later and upgrade if you want. But the image quality is very, very similar to the A7C.

I live in a place with beautiful landscapes and absolutely wild skies with sudden downpours imminent most of the time. I'd have bought the ZV-e10 for B-roll already if it had weather sealing for $100 more... Maybe I wait for Sony's underwater housing? But those are expensive, like you end up in A6600 price territory.

I'd love to see the images around a campfire. I do a lot of camping/outdoorsy stuff & the low light is the biggest challenge for me. I've been GoPro-only for so long, iPhone XS Max Pro, so I admit my entire kit is a bit ... dated? I only get ONE upgrade right now & I want to make it one that will actually grow with me. im not sure anyone is comparing between both. sure the a7c is a better spec camera, but what ive learnt is people mostly dont need the most spec, just the spec for what we do only. ive got 4k cameras but i mostly do my personal vlogs in 1080p. i've come to a conclusion for my vlogs i need stabilization the most, everything else is secondary. a stable 1080p image is better than a shaky 4k image.
I agree. I prefer smooth footage to anything. It’s one of the reasons I still love Panasonic and Olympus.

@@truthseeker6804 nice choices. The Olympus will be more stable - it’s crazy good, the G85 will be excellent but not quite as stable. The autofocus will work great on the Olympus as well. Terrible autofocus on G85 but better video features overall. Don’t forget the EM Mark II is very similar to the EM Mark III if you want to save some money. I haven't no - but it's an idea. My guess is that the autofocus won't be quite as reliable and that you might have issues with Catalyst Browse, but it would be good to test

I need one camera for general A-roll and one for my close shots B-roll. Exciting to start a new channel. Congrats!! The two lenses I have in the description of this video will suit you well I think. The Sigma 16mm f1.4 and the Sigma 30mm f1.4. You can use either for a talking headshot or for food b-roll. It will be up to you to choose depending on the size of your room and how far away you set the tripod.

So everyone is saying how dumb the name of this camera is... what if sony was just being clever and we're all saying it wrong. I think I'm in the same boat. Was looking to replace my a6300, and I think the e10 takes the cake since I already have good glass for it. And you're the first UA-camr that talked specifically about the cost of getting into a full frame camera system. I shoot mainly video, so I'm not worried about a view finder and if the tracking is that good, then the screen will do just fine
Curious as to the battery life of the zv e10. Without a view finder and a smaller battery, how long does it last in real world usage?

Hey, I want to purchase an Apsc camera, I have 2 options, first is zv-e10 at 720 dollar or 60k INR with kit lens, second is a6600 body only at 790 dollar or 66k INR. Which one I should buy.
Since they’re so close in price and I don’t think you’ll actually use the kit lens much - I would do the a6600. Weather sealed, bigger battery, EVF and IBIS. You won’t have the flip out screen, and you won’t be able to use catalyst browse as the a6600 has no gyro data. But other than that, the a6600 is a more capable camera.

I like the sigma myself - but it won’t be great for photos on the A7C because you lose too many megapixels. For video it’s fine.

Definitely A7C. ZV-E10 is not weather sealed. The A7C is and has a far more rugged design.

@@MustangCollectibles The same. the A7C is the most compact full frame camera with great dynamic range. For landscapes, a lot of photographers use the A7riii and A7RIV because they have higher megapixels which can be helpful in landscape photos, but the A7C is smaller, lighter, cheaper, has a flip screen and better video features. And the 24 megapixels is still great.

I don’t think they’ll update the zv-e10 for a while. 2 years would be my guess. But they really should update the a6400 and a6600 soon.

Did you say "APS-C Lens"? There are lenses specifically for APS-C cameras? Can you not use a Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens with Sony E-mount on either of these cameras?
You can use any emount lens on either, but the sigma is an apsc lens - specifically. The A7C will go into apsc crop mode when it’s attached. In video it’s great, with photos, it means you’ll have a 12 megapixel photo on the A7C

the zv-e10 is a much better video camera. it’s also has a better focusing system even for photos. If you were a veteran photographer, the A7ii would be better for you, but for everyone else, the ZV-E10 will give better results. And for video and streaming - definitely the ZV-E10 is better. Hi there. I an amateur thus my questions might be a bit of veery basics. I own ths sony 20mmf2.8 lens that I am using with a6400 for videos. If I purchase the a7C can I still use this lens? The results will be better? Can I create a combo a7c+20mmf2.8+rodeGowireless mic on a crane m2 gimbal?
you can use the same lens yes, but you really won’t see much of a difference on the A7C. The A7C will shoot in apsc mode with that lens attached and the image will look very similar. Plus, it the a6400 will be lighter and easier to use with your M2. The A7C is a bit heavy with that gimbal. Look at my videos about HLG grading if you want to get the most out of your a6400. It’s a great camera and its image quality can be as good as the A7C I’m most situations.

I recommend the GH5 extremely highly 🤣. As long as you know you have to manually focus - it is the best value video camera in the world in my opinion. With HEVC you can only do HLG. I personally shoot Vlog 10bit and use a leeming lut. I used the Sigma 16mm 1.4 in this video. it’s my favourite lens for the GH5

Looks like I could use that one too for what I need it for. Basically I am shooting on a fujifilm Xt4 but need a 2nd cam without recording limit. And would prefer h.265 HEVC files as I usually film 1.5 hour or longer videos. And the new M1 Mac chip is great with the Fuji codec.
I missed some shots showing the image quality of each in comparison.
this is just an overview of the capabilities- Sony is sending out an A7C for the real world tests. you will find the image comparable in many ways. But of course lens selection will play a roll

Is it advisable to buy a7c with sony 11mm f1.8 lens?
for video it will work fine. it will go into aps-c crop mode and you will have the equivalent of a 16mm field of view with a depth of field of f2.7 (background blur). it will still have a 1.8 of light

Yes there's an EVF on the A7C but it looks to be in a pretty terrible spot if I'm being honest. Ergonomics matter! 😂
Some people love the rangefinder. I could go either way, but I do know it might be nice to have a viewfinder that I can put up to my eye without my honker pressing the screen. 🤥🤣

I found on Amazon the seller "Digital Goja" they have 100% good feedback and are listed on Sigma's website as an authorized dealer. During the hours (EST) of approx 7:30 pm - 7:30 am, they lower the prices of their sigma lenses (at least the trio I spoke of). The prices they lower them to can vary a bit, but if you watch. You can save $40 per lens (sometimes a little more) from the standard dealer pricing. I contacted them before buying to see if these were by chance open box / used due to lower cost. They said they are new lenses.

Another tip for anyone in the US. If you sign up for the Capital One "Savor" credit card. As an I want to start on UA-cam and living in Europe where in most countries there is 20%VAT included in the final price the ZV-E10 option is better for me.
I can get the ZV-E10 and the Sigma 16mm f1.4, the Sigma 30mm f1.4, and the Sigma 56mm f1.4 for about 80 € more than the A7C BODY ONLY
If I get the 3 Full Frame Sigma lenses that correspond to the ASP-C ones the overall cost is 2X
Basically it seems that if you want to p the level in Photo Gear it is 2X the cost lol
You have to decide if the 2X investment is viable for your business case. In my case it is not.
If video is your main focus, the sigma with the ZV-E10 will give you video that is just as good as the A7C. That’s why I bought the ZV-E10.

I’ve been using the Zv-e10 for photography for over a year and got nothing but compliments. I even use it in professional settings. I just made the choice to jump to full frame. After obsessing over a7iv or a7c I went with the cheaper option. This review really helped me. My only concern is my sigma 56mm f1.4 is my favorite lens. I can not find reviews on how it looks on a full frame. Any insight on how it’s gonna workout?
Well, in video it will work great - you'll still get full 4k resolution - the A7C will just go into APS-C crop mode. In photos it will be the same. The drawback with photos is that you will go down to about 10 megapixels, so you won't really want to print those photos or crop in post.

Finally after testing lenses in a camera shop in london the Sigma 16mm dissapointed loads as did the tamron 17-28 (maybe both are good for vlogging but not video making). After the trying the sigma 24-70 it was a no brainer, better image quality more versatile and more dynamic but comes at a price. IF you got the money then i would recommend that one sigma 24-70 2.8 e mount

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Im no pro infact im a rank amateur, the image quality on the 24-70 was instantly better and more versatile as its a zoom lens too. The Sigma is an apsc lens so you get a smaller image anyway and the tamron 17-28 is a small range to move within. there was a small problem that the shutter speed was set wrong but I will go back to the shop and look at them all again before buying but im pretty sure i will be getting the sigma 24-70 2.8. Told my mate in berlin about my choice and he said yeah good lens, got one of them. He´s a pro video maker and editor since over 20 years so i think i made a good choice. I dont like that prime lenses are just stuck at one size but maybe that changes as i grow with the camera

The a7C does have an EVF. It's just a lot smaller than the bigger alpha cameras
