Forgot the #1 benefit, zv-e10 has USB-C. Sony has no excuse for not including usb-c on the a6400 other than they had not emptied their truckloads of usb micro's that they bought in bulk with the non-touch screens they've been using since forever. I enjoyed this review, subscribed and ordered a zv-e10. Sony, next time send this guy a camera! Oh wait, were the ones who got the camera forced to say 'vlogging camera'? Seems to me they all had the same script? Could be a conspiracy? In fact even he had that script?
You’re right!! I should have mentioned the USB-C. It will be a major advantage to most people. Hopefully they can send me a camera to review next time. If you hear me say “vlogging” - know that I’m being held hostage 🤣🤣
But at the end of the day , after using the camera like 15 days , I would say , the camera is good for beginner with everything there like a mobile phone, you can change with just a button click , but the build is rubbish , plasticky , I don't like it , not so robust and rough and touch .....okay you will get good feature of camera but I don't think it's last for more than 2 year ....and it don't feel.tge taste of a camera, if you want to have cinematic b roll or trave cinematic video shoot , better fo with a6400 , and if you have live streaming , vlogging and such thing go for zv e 10 , it's a beast in that sense..
@Fitter met Clau Since I have made this video I have purchased the ZV-e10 and if you run the footage through catalyst browse - the ZV-e10 actually can work as a vlogging camera - check this video out ua-cam.com/video/UXxEcfnxJo4/v-deo.html BUT if you don’t want to go through catalyst browse, a good vlogging camera would be the Olympus EM1 mark ii or the Olympus Em5 mark iii due to their excellent stability and autofocus
The main reason is bandwidth and processing power. The 6400 uses an older processor and would not fully utilize USB-c. The ZV-E10 has their updated processor at the cost of battery life.
It's a tough decision. As an a6400 user, I've always been jealous of the new cameras that have gyroscopes. So I decided to switch the moment I saw the ZV-E10 has it. But now that you mentioned the build quality, I don't know if I should anymore.
it is tough, because if you want that build quality and EVF, the a6400 is the way to go. The gyroscope data with catalyst browse is not a workflow that everyone loves, but some people swear by it to stabilize their footage. If the a6400 does everything you need - I would stick with it, but if you find it lacking because of the stabilization, then I can understand the switch. Look at your stores return policy - it may be possible to buy it and return it if it isn’t suitable.
I got the Sony zv-1 which also records gyro data and I can go to catalyst browse to stabilise. BUT is a pain in the backside doing that and it’s a bit of a waste of time I found. Initially did it a few times but it was slowing me down a lot especially if you are trying to stabilise most of the clips. Trust me, I did not enjoy it. But if you have time and patience it’s fine and it’s great at taking away the shake. But I would rather a gimbal or tripod as it’s a lot quicker and simpler.
Hmm. I live in Hong Kong and went for the a6100 after comparing to the a6400. I ev doesn’t seem too much of a difference to me and the build quality doesn’t really bother me that much. That is if you plan to use it carefully, any build will do. Really.
I’m new to you’re channel and just wanted to tell you how much of a great help you’ve been in my photography journey. Because of you I decided to buy a ZV-E10 and the sigma 16mm and 56mm f1.4 lenses and so far the image results have been amazing.
You go out vlogging with zve10 then it rains camera breaks, you go out with a6400 camera is fine. If zve10 had the same built and weather proof it would be a no brainer
Thanks for a great review. The built in flash was a deal breaker for me so I went for the 6400. It's a great real world camera and I am extremely happy with the way it handles and the results it gives.
You’re welcome!! It is really surprising that more people don’t mention it. It takes time to export the clips, but it’s worth it if you need stable footage. When I get the camera next week I will do some tutorials on getting the best out of Catalyst Browse
I have an a6400 and A7III, which I could swap them for a ZV-E10 and A7C. I've found Catalyst Browse to be so good once you nail a workflow down I just always take my ZV-1 and leave my A73 and Zhiyun Weebil-S at home. You just have to be mindful of keeping the shutter speed at a minimum of 1/200 or so to avoid warped footage.
Thanks for the tip!! Glad to know catalyst browse is useable. When the A7iv comes out - I might use that with the zv-e10 as a combo and sell off the a7iii. IF it ever comes out that is. 🤣🤣
I brought the a6400 in March and my brother brought the ZV-e10 about 2 months ago... I love stills more than video (now)... so I’m glad I brought my a6400... I forgot the ZV-e10 didn’t have a EVF. I have my DJI Osmo Pocket (original) and my GoPro 10 for video, but hardly, if ever, use them now, and they produce amazing videos.
I went with the A6400 since my main “focus” is photography. If I decide to capture video footage in a pinch, I’ll whip out my iPhone 13 Pro Max 1TB with amazing image stabilization and Apple ProRes availability.
Bought the A6400 :) Lower depreciation, ZV-E10 shouldn't had been built for profit, which was to allow changeable lens, they just want people to spend more on lens. They should had just took the feedback from the previous model and release this as ZV-E10
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Yeah i'm using it so far so good, btw i don't understand why iphone 13 pro max can be nicer than a DSLR , any idea what i'm doing wrong hahahah
@@MrAtomUniverse IPhones are designed to be able to press record and get good results. They use software to do this. They make it very easy. You can get much better results out of a mirrorless or DSLR, but it takes time to learn how to use them. If anyone tells you that phones give you better looking footage, they haven’t spent enough time learning to use a camera. I still use my iPhone for photos and videos of vacation or day to day - but if I want the best image quality - I always use one of my dedicated cameras.
Thanks for making this video! I’ve been back and forth about what camera to buy after using my iPhone all this time. I’m trying to take my UA-cam channel to the next level and I’m excited to go with the zv e10, I’m hoping the colors on my furniture flips show as close to real life as possible 🤞what lighting do you recommend? I currently film in the garage with door open
Regarding the gimbal ... I have a lightweight Sony a5100, which is lighter than the ZV-E10. When I put my blogging lens of choice (Sony 10-18) on it, it's too front heavy for the Crane M2. There has to be a good balance between the weight of the camera and the weight of the lens. So, the ZV-E10 might work or it might not. I can't say since I don't have it, but it's not a given just because it's light. I also have an a6500 and an RX100 Mark V. The only camera that balances nicely on the Crane M2 is the RX100 (which it seems to have been designed for). I imagine the ZV-1 will work with it, too. Also, the 10-18 is not a power zoom so the zoom lever on the ZV-E10 won't work except for the in-camera zoom feature.
Yes, thanks. Another commenter mentioned that the M2 may not hold - I can’t be sure because I have the original M1. I updated the description to say that people may want to opt for the Ronin SC. I personally would like to try the ZV-E10 with the pancake 20mm to see if at least that combination would work with the M2 👍
I have the 6400 with the 16 1.4 lens and only used it 9 times. No I’m not rich It was given it as a gift from a marketing event that I did. This video just made my day thank you so much.
Perhaps the background defocus is an advantage with speed of implementation? Also the disadvantages of VF and weather sealing are pretty large. Shame really. Can you add a viewfinder to the hot-shoe or something?
This is the review I've been waiting for. A big picture look that doesn't diss the camera for its rolling shutter and lack of IBIS-- those don't matter when recording from home, which many people are doing given the whole situation. Thanks so much for this!
Playing with my zv-e10 in manual and was surprised that the ISO goes down to ISO50. My a6400 will not do that. I'm really enjoying this little camera and find myself wondering why I still lug my a6400 around? Guess I really enjoy all the hate against this little camera because it's not the a7xxx which should have been out years ago.
Hi Glen, thank you very much for your comment, could you give me an opinion after 4 months of usage regarding the photographic outcome the zv-e 10 can reach in comparison with the a6400? Thank you so much
I’m so indecisive when it comes to finding a new camera. Maybe you can help! I’m going to VidCon this summer and want a camera to vlog with. But I also would use the camera as a facecam for my videos and to just film in general. I also like more cinematic video, not sure if that makes one camera stand out more than another. I’m stuck between the zv e10, zv1, and the G7x. For what I’m wanting to do, what do you think is best? And what would be a close second?
I would do the ZV-E10 followed by the ZV1. The autofocus is perfect on both and with what you're describing - you'll need autofocus. The G7x is not on the same level in that regard - or many other video regards, unfortunately
Hm, super interesting. Had no clue about the ZV-E10! I'm mainly looking to upgrade my facecam setup for my youtube videos, but I'd also like something I can take some good pictures with. Looking at potentially getting into some real-estate photography/marketing stuff and I'd like to use the same camera as my YT setup. I don't know much about cameras though, so which lens would I want to go for if I was mainly looking at shooting facecam footage for youtube videos? Like should I still get the "Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens" or is that not compatible? Great video and I appreciate the help!
Yes the sigma 16mm will be great for youtube as well as phtopgraphy. It's what I will use when the ZV-E10 arrives. Just remember to get the Sony mount as they make it for more than one brand. amzn.to/3kdI4B1
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Awesome! Just saved both of your affiliate links for the camera & lens, so I'll make sure to use those when I go to purchase!
Which would you get for filming music videos, streetwear photography, and vlogging? Also I want to be able to color grade on slog footage like crazy for music videos I film and I want to potentially vlog on UA-cam too. I’m trying to get the best bang for my buck because I’m a college student so I’m definitely on a very tight budget. * I’m going to be using a gimbal or tripod for filming music videos and vlogging so the a6400 not having stabilization isn’t a big issue to me*
Hey I’m looking to buy a Sony beginner… mostly for content / studio sessions / street photos for ig / events Would you recommend Sony a6400 a6500 or zve10
Hi Mark! First of all...you're content are very great. I'm looking for my first camera (i'm begginer, people say that zv e10 would be better for begginer but that's not a problem for me, this camera will be a long term purchase) and i ended up on this two camera. My main target is filmaking/videos but also i want to learn to take good photos, so i'm struggling hard in this choice for these poits: 1- EFV, it can helps me more to become a better photoghrapher i guess 2-Better build quality and weathering sealing, i will take videos/photos in different condition like snow and rain (althought i will protect the camera) These two points are leading me to the a6400 BUT...the zv e10 has eyes AF, does it make a big difference from the face detection? Sorry for the long text~ Hope you can help me out from this infinit circle XD
Yes - the a6400 is the easy choice for you. better weather sealing and evf for photos. the autofocus is fantastic on the a6400. it just does not have eye tracking in video - but you really won’t see a noticeable difference
So, this time i have 2 cameras ( Nikon Z30) and Sony Zv-e10. Very impressed for my workflow ( podcast video) with two camera shoot with different side. I choose Zv-E10 because ur video's and yeah sony hd so many accessories than nikon, but nikon quality ( build and picture) still best for me.... Thanks🎉
Great video this helped me decide on what camera to get. I had already done a little research on both cameras but this was the best one I've seen on youtube.
I bought the zve10 for photograpahy and though it is an excellent camera great in almost every aspect, i do miss the viewfinder. If you are a photographer then i strongly recommend you to buy the a6400 or if you have the money the a6700 that have just been released.
Am planning to buy zve10 tomorrow if that good idea or should I wait ✋? If zve10 is good idea in 2023 please suggest me good lens. I am in a videography and photography.
I'm in the market for a new camera and I've watch almost all of your videos on the ZV-E10! Great content! Thank you so much! For me personally, I don't mind the catalyst browse workflow and I'm more of a video guy too so not having eye-tracking auto-focus in video is a deal breaker for me.
Been looking at the Zv-E10 to get better quality on my UA-cam channel, this has been the best review I have seen, Useful information to make a decision- Got my Sub
Weird - I just got this question on another video!! Anyway, I love Panasonic an I have a GH5 and a G7 (the early g85). They’re both great cameras, but the Sony has more to offer I think right now. Th G85 excels in stability and has a viewfinder, but the Sony has great dynamic range and you can use HLG3 and it has a bigger sensor, better in lowlight and amazing autofocus. The G85 has terrible autofocus. But the Panasonic menus are easy to use and it has a touch screen. The Panasonic’s are great, but I think the Sony is the better option for straight up video.
I use the A7c with the Sigma 30mm as the main camera on my channel. My secondary angle is shot using a6400 with the Sigma 56 mm (I love this lens! 😍) feel free to check out.
Ive bought the ZV E10 and the Sigma 16mm two days ago! :) Thank you for the review and: Youre videos are looking awesome! Youve got about 2600 subscribers, but youre videos look like youve got 1 million subscribers!
@@realtorroshan The sigma 16mm f1.4 is one of the best lenses you can buy for Amy Sony APS-C camera. They also have an excellent 30mm and 56mm. The 16 is great for wider shots and filming yourself.

Hi, I bought my first camera for photography yesterday and it is zv_e 10. It was a sudden decision because it wasnt on the list and I was going to buy the Nikon Z50. But between a6400 and zv-e10, zv-e10 was suggested to me, and as it turns out, you don't recommend it for photography. you can get great results from the zv-e10 for photography. I use it all the time for photos. But you have to only use the screen whereas most photographers prefer and EVf. but check out the channel - I have several videos featuring the photography of the zv-e10
I’m a dentist and I want to take photos from teeth. Also some times taking videos from my patients, which one is better for me? And which lens is good for that?
Hi, I'm very indecisive between these two cameras. I‘d use it 50/50 for Photos and Videos. My only concern with the a6400 is its stabilization, as I'll use it for street interviews, and I'm worried about shaking even when the cameraman is standing fairly still. Otherwise it would be my choice of buying! If someone could help me out I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!
if you plan to use it on the street for interviews, you’ll need a tripod or a gimbal with the a6400 - it will be too shaky. So I would do the zv-e10 if you plan to do that.
Best overview of the zv e10 on UA-cam, thanks Mark! Your video was great, Subscribed🤝 Enjoy that apple juice. Would you recommend the zv e10 for shooting workout videos in a controlled lighting set up indoors?
Aaah thank you so much for this! Watched so many reviews / comparisons but this is one’s really really helpful! So tempted to get the zv-e10 over the a6400 now after hearing all the new features! But i really want the functions to be hybrid, so i’m still torn. 🤣
Hello there! I just started filmmaking studies and I’m looking for the perfect camera to start my projects. Do you thing the ZV-E10 could work for me? Or do you know any other camera that could be useful? Thank you very much, nice video!!💫
It is a very capable camera yes. For filmmakers, I would also recommend a GH5. it is much more like a cinema camera. However, it does not autofocus well - so the Sony may be better for you
Hi, sir! I'm a beginner in photography and videography. I have researched tons of cameras before buying my first camera and I came across one of your videos about Zv E10. I think it's a great camera for it's price and your love for it made me want to buy it (I subscribed to your channel then watched a few more videos about this camera and I absolutely love it!) however I am concerned about it's durability. I am pretty clumsy (The first time I brought my laptop at school, I accidentally dropped it at the restroom. I almost lost 10 lives because it was new and I haven't even used it yet 😭) The rolling shutter in Zv E10 is also bad and the camera isn't weather sealed. I am debating whether to get this or the a6400. The Zv E10 is around $714 with kit lens and the a6400 is around $839 with kit lens so that's the only ones that I can afford for that price range. I want a camera that is good at taking pictures and videos because I want to use it mostly at events and outdoors. I'm also interested in filmmaking and wildlife photography so both of these qualities are very important for me. I am planning to buy a gimbal so the stabilization is not that huge of a deal for me as well as camera lenses and nd filter to get that cinematic effect that I want. Which of these cameras will you recommend getting, sir?
I think the a6400 is the one for you. especially because of the wildlife photography. try to get one on sale or used because they will probably update it soon

Hey Mark! Was wondering if you could help me a little! I want to get my first camera ever for video and photo. I’ll mainly be doing video work (talking head, vlogs, etc) but I would also like to learn photography as well and take good photos! So the zve10 not having a viewfinder throws me off a little bit! But the a6400 not having some sort of stabilisation also throws me off as well and I’m not quite sure which one to go for anymore? Are gimbals a hassle to carry around? Which one should I go for in your opinion? Thanks so much if u see this!
the a6700 is the best if it's in the budget. If not, the a6400 would be best because of the EVF for photos. For video, you will have to use a tripod or a gimbal if you want to move. And the gimbals are a pain to the around. So what I would do is get a little selfie tripod and when you're out and about, set the a6400 down on the little tripod on a surface and then do your video.
I’m digging your channel and really likes this video! I’m waiting for my zv-e10 to come in the mail and since you mentioned using a matte box with it, so you have any filter recommendations that work best with this camera? Thanks again!
Sony suspended orders for both models and they are currently out of production due to chip shortages. So unless you can find a retailer who has one, they may not be available for a long time.
one of the biggest pros for zv-e10 that people are missing is that it has unlimited video recording. This is the first cheap sony aps-c camera with that feature
For older Sony Alpha owner wishing for unlimited video google 'OpenMemories: Tweak'. Record limits and other stuff can be turned off/on using settings not exposed in the menus.
I am planning to buy a Tamron 17-70 (525g) with ZV E10 (343g). Do you think using a heavy Zoom lens of this weight on this light weight camera will make the setup really front heavy when mounted on *GIMBALS* ? Will I be able to work with that on gimbals perfectly? There are many lenses which are around double the weight of this camera. I am a beginner please guide me 🙏
You just need a gimbal that supports the weight of the cam and lenses you’re using. They should be able to balance just fine. There are many different gimbals - so pay attention to the weight load. My advice is to not buy a gimbal at first. Get to know your camera and lenses. Buy a decent tripod and setup your camera. Gimbals with cameras take some time to learn and it will make it difficult to start shooting as a beginner. Start with the camera, lens and a tripod and then see if the gimbal is something your really need. I didn’t use a gimbal for the first few years and I still only occasionally use one.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Actually I am really tight on budget thats why I have decided to go for ZVE10 and Sigma 16mm 1.4 first and Tamron will be my second lens. This is my first serious camera as I’ve just had point and shoot. A6400 just looks more solid and I’ll need an EVF to take photos. What program do you use to edit? Do you shoot in slow mo or slow the shot down in edit? Proper newbie to all this..
Subscribed! I hope Sony sees your video. To blur the background, do I have to use that "background blur button" or can I manually adjust the aputure, f stop, shutter speed, etc myself?
Thanks!! Yes - you can use it like a regular camera and do it yourself. Which will be the best idea. That button basically puts the camera in aperture priority and lowers the fstop for shallow depth of field. I will never use that button - ha!!
a6400 is still a great camera. It has a viewfinder - which is essential for a lot of people and most of the features the ZV-E10 has. Sometimes there are limitations of the processor so they can’t update to the latest features., but I would still be very happy with the a6400!!

First off: Great content man. I don't know much about photography, but I'm finding myself binging your vids. Looking to get my first real camera (other than my osmo pocket and phone cam). I am intrigued by the price and the fun features of the ZV-E10. My photographer mate tells me to get the old A7 ii instead for that full frame goodness at the same price. "You can't take good pictures with that cropped sensor. If you wanna take photos, def go for the a7 ii instead" What's your take? I do want to be able to take some great photos, and I would also like the ability to record some videos.
Of course you can get amazing shots with an apsc sensor, or a micro 4/3 sensor - I use those all the time. But I do prefer full frame when I want to get the best shots I can. The problem with the a7ii is that it shoots video in 1080 only - if you’re ok with that, then go for the camera. It won’t have the same amazing autofocus as the newer Sony’s, but you’ll still get good results. You may want to look at the A7Rii as it’s heavily discounted right now - it shoots 4K video and has 42 megapixels so you can really crop in on your images (bigger file sizes though). You may also want to look at the Canon RP as a full frame option. You’ll be able to take great pics and 4K video as well. So, in summary, for video, micro 4/3 and APSC are sensors I use all the time. But for photos, I go full frame.

Thanks for that detailed review of the ZV-E10. I was wondering if the autofocus is as fast and reliable as on the a6400? ZV-E10 uses "Eye detection" and a6400 "Double something..." Which one is better when it comes to autofocusing faces and low light situations? I spend three days now intensively searching for information between this two cameras but no one mentioned the differences between this two cameras when it comes to low light situations and autofocusing performance! Would be nice if you could help me out here
The autofocus on the ZV-E10 is the same as the a6400 except that the ZV-E10 has eye detect in video instead of just face detect. this makes the ZV-E10’s autofocus a bit better. It will also be a little better in lowlight autofocus. But the a6400 is great at autofocusing as well. If you take a lot of photos, the viewfinder of the a6400 is great to have. From a pure video perspective, the e-stabilization, the catalyst browse option, the eye detect in humans and animals in video, the flip-out screen - the ZV-e10 is the more compelling option.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis So it has eye and face detection? I read that the a6400 has an ISO value of "102400" compared to the ZV-E10 that has "51200". Does it make the a6400 the better 4k video cam for low light? As you said the ZV-E10 is better in lowlight focus? I'm confused. Maybe it's not true what I had read?
@@fpsoundpacks The ZV-E10 and the a6400 have the exact same sensor and processor so they will perform very similarly. The 102400 on the a6400 and 51200 on the ZV-E10 are extended iso and you cannot use them for video - it’s for photos. For video, they both have the native ISO range of 100-32000. And neither camera will vey useable anywhere near iso 32000. Having higher iso ranges does not mean better lowlight performance. It’s just the camera putting in digital gain to brighten the image. If you bump the iso too high - the image will be a mess. Both cameras will perform similarly in lowlight and autofocus with the Zv- e10 being a little better because of the updates made to the camera. Here is a good video on it ua-cam.com/video/9oC3AFpuKPE/v-deo.html

This guy reviews the camera better than anyone I've ever seen on UA-cam. I couldn't believe you've only 25+ subscribers.
nice of you to say!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks for responding, this is very informative!
@@krisli273 did you keep the A6400 or upgrade to the ZVE10?
Really.
Can I said I want the zv-e10 in A6400 body. I love everything about ZV-E10 except no weather seal.
I’m new to you’re channel and just wanted to tell you how much of a great help you’ve been in my photography journey. Because of you I decided to buy a ZV-E10 and the sigma 16mm and 56mm f1.4 lenses and so far the image results have been amazing.
I'm so glad!! Great to hear
Sigma 30 1-4 mm how about?
You go out vlogging with zve10 then it rains camera breaks, you go out with a6400 camera is fine. If zve10 had the same built and weather proof it would be a no brainer
Thanks for a great review. The built in flash was a deal breaker for me so I went for the 6400. It's a great real world camera and I am extremely happy with the way it handles and the results it gives.
a6400 is a fantastic camera - enjoy!!
ive watched so many videos and this is the first time i heard of the catalyst browse. thank you! stabilization is major for me
You’re welcome!! It is really surprising that more people don’t mention it. It takes time to export the clips, but it’s worth it if you need stable footage. When I get the camera next week I will do some tutorials on getting the best out of Catalyst Browse
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Where are you getting that its free? Everywhere I see it mentioned its asking for a subscription to use it
I think this is the best camera review channel among the channels out there
I want camera for Film Making not vlogging. And I think ZV e10 is little bit better. But I will miss the Sony A6400 better build and Weather Sealing.
Just the content I’ve been looking for: “Canadian funny guy telling it straight on cameras”. Cheers!
Haha - I’m glad I suit that very specific niche. 🤣🤣
@@MikAlexander haha - if the a6400 is a hobo camera - hobos are doing all right!!

Makes sense a6400 is definitely better for photos
Bought the A6400 :) Lower depreciation, ZV-E10 shouldn't had been built for profit, which was to allow changeable lens, they just want people to spend more on lens. They should had just took the feedback from the previous model and release this as ZV-E10
Yup - great way to get people into the system by offering at the $699. And then we all spend on the lenses. 🤣🤣. I’m sure you’ll love the a6400
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Yeah i'm using it so far so good, btw i don't understand why iphone 13 pro max can be nicer than a DSLR , any idea what i'm doing wrong hahahah
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank you for your reply!
I currently film in the garage with door open
sunlight is always good for most natural colours. but if you can’t do sunlight, use daylight balanced COB with a softbox
This video just made my day thank you so much.
it’s a great setup!!
the thing with the defocus button is that you can do it mid-recording by pushing a button and switch it off in the same manner
you’re right - that could be useful in certain circumstances
Perhaps the background defocus is an advantage with speed of implementation? Also the disadvantages of VF and weather sealing are pretty large. Shame really. Can you add a viewfinder to the hot-shoe or something?
No - there's not really a way to add viewfinder. I think there's only one available and it costs as much as the camera.
This is the review I've been waiting for. A big picture look that doesn't diss the camera for its rolling shutter and lack of IBIS-- those don't matter when recording from home, which many people are doing given the whole situation. Thanks so much for this!
Yes - I was surprised that people focused so much on the rolling shutter and IBIS. The camera clearly has better uses besides “vlogging”
I need a camera for easy bokeh effect and soft look for YT videos at home, which one is better?
So there is terrible rolling shutter in this one too like the 6400! You saved me 10 mins. Thanks for the comment. :p

I'm really enjoying this little camera and find myself wondering why I still lug my a6400 around? Guess I really enjoy all the hate against this little camera because it's not the a7xxx which should have been out years ago.
yeah - people want so much out of the a7iv that I don’t know how it will live up to expectations!!
Hi Glen, thank you very much for your comment, could you give me an opinion after 4 months of usage regarding the photographic outcome the zv-e 10 can reach in comparison with the a6400?

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you!
Agreed.
ZV-E10 is good for a back up camera and video shooting.

My main target is filmaking/videos but also i want to learn to take good photos, so i'm struggling hard in this choice for these poits:
1- EFV, it can helps me more to become a better photoghrapher i guess
2-Better build quality and weathering sealing, i will take videos/photos in different condition like snow and rain (althought i will protect the camera)
These two points are leading me to the a6400 BUT...the zv e10 has eyes AF, does it make a big difference from the face detection?
Sorry for the long text~
Hope you can help me out from this infinit circle XD
Yes - the a6400 is the easy choice for you. better weather sealing and evf for photos. the autofocus is fantastic on the a6400. it just does not have eye tracking in video - but you really won’t see a noticeable difference

Zv-e10 or g85 for starting and learning video?
Weird - I just got this question on another video!! Anyway, I love Panasonic an I have a GH5 and a G7 (the early g85). They’re both great cameras, but the Sony has more to offer I think right now. Th G85 excels in stability and has a viewfinder, but the Sony has great dynamic range and you can use HLG3 and it has a bigger sensor, better in lowlight and amazing autofocus. The G85 has terrible autofocus. But the Panasonic menus are easy to use and it has a touch screen. The Panasonic’s are great, but I think the Sony is the better option for straight up video.

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you so much!!🙏🏻
Thanks for this comparaison very clear !

Dude! Thank you! Best comparison I've seen and as mostly video person this settles it for me!

Perfect review. Exactly what I needed to hear.
Sony suspended orders for both models and they are currently out of production due to chip shortages. So unless you can find a retailer who has one, they may not be available for a long time.
both have been halted production until the can get more supply .. hopefully will restart.
Yup - supply issues are a big problem right now
one of the biggest pros for zv-e10 that people are missing is that it has unlimited video recording. This is the first cheap sony aps-c camera with that feature
Absolutely - the a6400 does have that as well, but it is definitely more expensive.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis my 6300 has it but I hacked the firmware to get it.. and it overheats unless you use a dummy battery 🤣
So I should start with a Camera, lens and Tripod 👍
Actually I am also saving money for a new laptop as my PC is i5 2nd gen.
Can you please guide me for the PC/laptop specs also. As I am on a budget so what are things required mainly for video editing and what are not ? Should I go for a very good graphic card or I should focus mainly on CPU?
Graphic card 6gb or 4gb?
CPU ryzen 5/ ryzen 7 ?
RAM 16gb ?
SSD and HDD balance

I use Final Cut, so the new M1 Macbook Air or Pro would be plenty good for 4k 8 bit footage. In the PC world - I cannot give much help as I have macs only. But for sure SSD will be better - and editing off a fast external SSD is also a good way to go - like the Samsung T5. That way you don't clog up your computer with editing files. So, get a computer with 16gb or ram, the best graphics card at a reasonable price and same with the processor. Start looking at youtube videos about editing off external drives. It's a great way to keep your computer running smooth and free of junk files that accumulate while editing.
I'm new to cameras I absolutely appreciate the background defocus button 😁"the baby will be able to work it a little easier"
haha - nothing wrong with being a baby - they’re adorable.
Which is better for photography? or is there a better option in this price range . Oct 2022
the a6400 is better for photography. try to get one second hand because it’s due for an update soon.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you . Really appreciate
Another great detail video. Thanks 😊 for your work.
You’re welcome!!
I’m getting into real estate but I also travel a lot, play the piano, sing, hike and currently learning how to play classical guitar. Which Of these two would you recommend for videos out in nature, traveling, real estate shots and music videos performing (singing, piano)? Thank you kind sir and great content
out of these two for you I would pick the a6400 because of your outdoor hikes and photos. The A6400 is weather sealed and much better for photos. 👍👍
Great review! Thanks for your honesty and knowledge!!
Thanks!! 👍👍
Hi Mark. I’ve been going through your videos to help me decide on my new camera. Just about to buy the A6400 kit for just a little more than the ZV E10. This is my first serious camera as I’ve just had point and shoot. A6400 just looks more solid and I’ll need an EVF to take photos. What program do you use to edit? Do you shoot in slow mo or slow the shot down in edit? Proper newbie to all this..
Nice review! Do you think the skin color and color saturation was rich? Accurate? I saw one review and the color saturation was not so great.
The colours look good out of camera, but I always use HlG3 and I love the results. check out my latest video to see it in action 👍
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks so much for advice. Much appreciated.
@@MarkusRobins yes - you can customize the buttons. I certainly will be changing a couple!!
I appreciate your pov. I ordered a ZVE10. Thanks.
I ordered one too - let's see who gets it first. lol
I think that the ZV-E10 looks great. Does anyone know whether the Catalyst stabilization will work with 'dumb' prime lenses?
I haven't tested it - but I believe it will only work with smart lenses that communicate the focal length
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Are Sigmas and Tamron considered "Smart" ?
@@thr6453 generally yes - if they autofocus they are communicating with the camera.
It works w/ any lens. Tested on my a7c
@@JamesDBuzzard Including manual only lenses with no electronic connectors?
Finally it's about just software update , that's all what I need for my A6400 ; But unfortunately I think will get nothing ...
a6400 is still a great camera. It has a viewfinder - which is essential for a lot of people and most of the features the ZV-E10 has. Sometimes there are limitations of the processor so they can’t update to the latest features., but I would still be very happy with the a6400!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I'm very happy with my A6400 too

I have the professional fx6 but I bought the ZV1 a few weeks ago 👍🏻 why? Small size pocket cam, no extra lenses, good quality 😉👌

Hey, I have the professional old FS5ii should I upgrade to FX6?
@@peterchan518 if you are satisfied with the fs5ii than it’s cool, I think the fx6 would be nevertheless an upgrade 🎥👍🏻
For photography, is it much different for sony a6000 and sony a6400?
No - same sensor and the photos capabilities so they will be the same.
So true everyman/woman/grandma/UA-camr complaining about jello/cropping et al! Thanks for a great review.
Yes!! So many are completely missing what the camera is good at. Not all of us are walking around whipping a camera from side to side. 🤣🤣
Cmon man I want a blurry back ground and have no idea how to do it. I ain’t no

Press that blurry background button on the zv-e10 - done 🤣
I'm about a year late on this but .... if the ZVE-10 doesn't have as much overheating issue as the 6000's then that could be another benefit.
It is much better than the other a6000 cameras at overheating except the a6600 and a6400 which are pretty good too.
Need a good camera for beauty and vlog, not sure which one I should get? What do you think and suggest
zv-e10. for sure. product showcase mode, flip out screen
If you wanna take photos, def go for the a7 ii instead"
What's your take?
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank you so much Mark! Really appreciate the help!
I will go check em out straight away!

Go with DaVinci Resolve. it’s free and overall the best. Watch some tutorials on how to get started.
I used Sony ZV-E10 and I really love it!
me too
Thanks for that detailed review of the ZV-E10.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Ah dude, thank you so much for clearing all things up to me! Headache is over and i made a decision. I think i don't need a viewfinder "now" so i just ordered the ZV-E10. Way better Autofocus in low light and less "Matrix" color shift to higher ISO's as the other video dude shows :) Thanks for your help, you have one new follower!

Which one will you recommend? Since the ZV-E10 is cheaper than A6400. Also ZV-E10 have better technology and chip
