@@EasyHeat they've done a great job huh? The fact they issued an update so soon as well suggests that they are listening to the customers and will support these products going forward
The cab sim on this is excellent. It models G12-65’s which are what my old JCM800 4x12 is loaded with so it is period correct. This pedal is truly the stand-out model of the series and doesn’t get enough love. I think I’m going to buy one even though I don’t have a need for one just because I’m an 800 fanboy and this really nails it.
It really is, they've done some great work with this line and this one in particular. I mean, you'd not be the first guitarist to buy something they don't necessarily need just because they want it. That's kind of our thing 😂😂
Thanks for answering the question - really appreciate it as through headphones would likely be when I use it as a little travel/hotel option so thats great to know!
As per most preamp pedals direct through phones, you'll need to push the master volume a bit more but yeah it sounds great. Thanks for your earlier comment 👍
Awesome! Thanks for the video. I was wondering about the headphones as well, thanks for mentioning. I wish they came with an AUX In though =( doesn't make sense to not have one. Do you have any idea how one can play through the headphones with a back track using this? Probably using an audio interface ... more $$$ to burn ...
Charles apparently. Met him once, a long long time ago, I must have been 13-14yrs old on work experience. Nice guy from what I remember. Great video man, I'm digging this TC range. Can't wait for the Soldano. I really hope they make one
The first 2 ranges they've bought out have been absolutely killer and they've covered quite a lot of territory already. I am excited to see where they go next with it, oh and congratulations you smarty smart 👍 10 internet points to you 😉
Yeah, it's got 2 outputs: one with a cab sim, one without. You can use it without the cab sim and just run into an amp as a drive pedal or you can run it direct with the cab sim 👍
That'd be a thunderstorm. It was meant to emulate the track itself that opens with thunder claps. Noted that it might be a bit much 🤣🤣🤣 how did you find the tone of the pedal?
Thanks for posting this comment. I use a Marshall JCM2000 DSL50&2x12 or DSL40CR for gigging. I don't want to bring the amps to my rehearsal space. My band rehearses silently with IEMs with a Behringer XR18 digital mixer. I bought a Marshall DSL1 amp but it still doesn't sound great straight into the mixer. I'm hoping this Jims800 dual channel pedal setup will allow me to run Guitar > Tube Screamer >Jims 800 -DI out>Delay>mixer and get a great IEM sound
@@rustycowbell I use the same mixer! I use a 2x12 Marshall combo live. But I use an Aiken goldbrick DI for our in ears. Emulating a 4x12 greenback Marshall cab with an sm57. Best DI I’ve used for iems so far. Some reverb helps a lot too
I didn't think they could get any signet m stronger than that initial line up but I think the high gain ones did even better! Blues dad can metal when he needs to, but don't tell anyone 🤣🤣
Depends what you're after. The 45 is lower gain and sightly more mid focused, the 800 had more gain on tap and has a more toppy sound. We have demos on both you can use to decide 👍
I've only tried the 800, the 45 that we did the demo on went to Josh. I think the 800 is probably more versatile, but I'm only going on what I've heard and not the experience of playing both
Great intro jam!🤟 My only gripe with digital preamps is you can’t run them in parallel live due to DSP-RTL. Which is a shame because I would love to recreate the Dave’s Hydra split Color and the Shape Mesa/AC30 90’s tones. My only option for attempting it currently is with a dual rig within BiasFX and running it out through my Orange OMEC Teleport.😅 On it’s own tho? I think it sounds fantastic, and backing of the gain seems to reach that Marshall Super Bass territory. Also for literally half the price of the U/A Lion?!! What’s honestly not to love? Now, while I think Tore is a super guy from when I’ve chatted with him, and was ultimately fantastic for TC in the past? It is good to see TC bouncing back after his departure to U/A with some killer products. Great demo my dude! Cheers!
Absolutely, TC had a few shaky years after Tore but they're really coming back with this range and from what I've seen of the plethora range too. Thanks for the comment, it's made my day that has 👍
There is no FX loop. You have an input, and 2 outputs (dry or cab emulated). You could run the dry out into FX then into an external cab sim or run FX after the cab sim. Does that answer your question?
I thought it sounded really good. If I didn't already have a couple jcm 800 sims I'd look into this. I've been really liking Audio Assault Emperor with an urgitone bay area thrash IR for the heavier 80s stuff.
Funny you should mention ugritone actually. I used two different drum packs to nail the drum tones for this one. I love their stuff! I've not delved too much into their ir packs though, do you recommend them?
@@PBOD Their IR loader and packs work really well together I use them a lot. I recommend their IRs but they are really setup to get a certain sound. There's a thrash metal pack, a NWOBHM pack, etc. If you want the sound they are setup for they can really help get there. I could see someone with more experience and skill than me wanting something a bit more raw/general.
Aye, it's just on the edge for me. There is enough dynamic range to make it useful but also enough gain on tap for when I don't want no stinking dynamic range 🤣🤣🤣
Dude, do a demo without all the reverb and delay. Listen to your Slayer "like" clip. The whole thing is ridiculously drowned in so many effects no one can tell what it or the drums sounds like.
Hi, the reverb used was a 80s digital studio reverb similar to that found on the Slayer record itself - no delay was used at all throughout the demo. I think the issue you may be describing was that the guitar was placed higher in the mix than you might usually, but that was to showcase the pedal, as it is a pedal demo. There are a fair few clips in the video where the pedal is used without any backing track so you can hear it better. I'd urge you to check out the official TC product releases if you'd like to hear more 👍
I hear you, but WAY too much reverb. Those full mixes are the most important component of your presentation for me. To hear what it sounds like IN the mix@@PBOD vs just solo'd Thanks !
It happens for sure .. just tried it through my Blackstar Ht40 and same result.. maybe its just meant to be a recording thing and not for live use .. or maybe better through an effects loop but I haven’t tried that and it’s gone back to the store anyway lol

Let us know what you think about the jims800 and if we nailed those 80s metal tones
And if you know, answer the question in the video here too:
I’m honestly quite impressed, and typically that’s not an easy task when it comes to the whole “Marshall in a can” racket. Well done TC!❤

Is this pedal used on its own directly into a mixer or is it used as a distortion pedal with a clean guitar amp? Or both ?
