Yeah but vehicles like the Lynx, PUMA and Vilkas only have those Spikes for self defense basically, so they usually only carry 2 Spikes on the vehicles The only exceptions are vehicles that have those for an anti tank role and not just self defense, like the Freccia (we have the AT version in game, i think irl it could carry up to 10 spikes, it has 8 in game) But yes for gameplay they gave it more, I hope the Lynx also gets more
@@jacoproita9010 Not quite. The Vilkas and the Lynx usually carry 6 Spikes. Hungarian forces also partially remove seats from their Lynx IFVs to carry even more missiles inside the vehicle if needed. Carrying only 2 could put a vehicle like those and it's crew + infantry into danger. Spikes have more purposes than fighting heavily armored vehicles, they also are used against bunkers and enemy's cover.
Columns of Gediminas decal would be cool since all Lithuanian Vilkas is marked with it on the sides IRL, Im using the Lithuanian Air force decal for now as improvisation since its in game :D
30mm from the bmp is just faster firing, they spall about the same. But considering the bmp has a faster firerate, is way smaller, still very responsive and fast, more ATGM's, arguably better ATGM's and its a lower BR is beyond me. I dont get how the KF41 and this thing is higher BR then the BMP-2M
yes the bmp-2m gets an amazing gun but sometimes it just doesn't work, and mostly doesn't work against tanks with TUSK and similar protections on sides (turret ring isn't that guaranteed and mostly against the new 2a7 and strv122a+ but ATGMs, boi you are asking for way too much for the bmp-2m you need to maintain that gun on the enemy depression refuses that and needs you to fully expose yourself for it and oh, fnf doesn't need that, you can just spam it and go hide again
@@mmneaapro596 Stuff like tusk is destroyable very fast with that high firerate, not to mention the ATGM's work just fine against stuff like tusk. It is also way better when facing the front because of the way higher fire rate when it comes to breaking breaches and barrels. It is also way better against soft targets (and there are alot of light tanks at 10.0-10.3, also alot of premium light tanks here). Depression can be an issue yes, but it can also be a non factor. BMP-2M also has long range proxy ATGMS for getting helis which ppl also forget. FnF can be a good thing, when they decide to work, but they are also unuseable in CQB, which alot of maps have. I played the freccia a decent amount, and i can get 0 kills with those 8, or 8 kills. its totally random, not to mention the bmp-2m's atgms didnt change that much with the nerf, can be fired on the move and all 4 can be fired rapidly.
@@NotOlzen Thats true with the helis. I shot down many helis with the BMP2 ATGM. And the BMP2 can be used for great AA. You hit really good planes with its gun. BMP 3 is a beast too for firing out of the move

I mainly play top tier Italy and bring my Freccia or Centauro out as my first spawn, and I've had it to where I launched 4 Spikes at a T-72B3 in the middle of the wide open field and every single missile immediately blew up with nothing obstructing its view or trajectory. Not to mention the BMP-2M's tandem warhead actually works 90% of the time instead of hitting the top piece of Contakt 5 and destroying the entire missile.
6:28 I also received 20 backups, not a creator. This is the first time they've done this. I assume it's to try to combat one-death leavers again, similar to the reason they give backups on premium vehicles.
If only the KF41 for Italy was given more spikes. It's a slower, easier to kill Puma and it sits at 10.7 with only 2 spikes and a dream. The spikes doesn't even work half the time, and I love playing the Italy tech tree.
One of the reasons they didn't give it out is that it was also unfinished lmao, literally until the very last day before it was available, it was actually incomplete and was missing its extra x2 Spikes in the hull/had allll kinds of weird jittery bugs in the test drive! (also, yes Justin, one of the Roadmap changes is that ALL Event vehicles get between 10 and 20 free backups! (rank 5 vehicles get 10 and 6 get 15, rank 7 and 8 gets 20 backups) (premiums also get the free backups). you can see by hovering over the vehicle's statcard, it tells you how many free backups it comes with! (also lmao, I might've said it before, but I got the Ersatz M10 from Snowmen after watching your video on it, and then proceeded to get a nuke in it in my 4th game!)
Yeah it was a little weird not getting any of the vehicles early but I’ve been having a blast using this thing. Using the commander thermals to lock the spikes from behind cover is so useful.
the way I mitigate all the ammo blowing up instead of just the turret ammo I bring the stock APDS belt as the first ammo choice, then the proper darts as a second choice. Ammo fire usually only gets rid of the stock belt you're already not using, leaving you with the surplus of darts. instead of the stock belt you can bring the HE only belt if you so wish, but that is up to you to decide. This works on every vehicle that has blow-out panels for their autocannons. (PUMA, KF41 lynx, French VBC, and now the Vilkas)
Key negatives: Cap reload is 45 seconds to rearm + reload speed on top, for one little box. All ammo in the hull is destroyed when turret is ammo racked. Spikes are mid.
The Spike LR2s the way gaijin made them dont even have a max range of 4km, only 2.5km, they copypasted the stats of the Spike MR from the Freccia, you can test this in by comparing their flight tracking time in test drive. Thats the reason they won't show you the guaranteed launch range the way they do for the QN506's missiles. Gaijin is deliberately hiding this from us. Other than that the APS can't even stop the QN506's 200mm pen missiles, the APS activates but the damage just goes through regardless and overpressures you (wtf?). Gaijin also believes that this vehicle that is heavily inspired by the PUMA with the addition of the APS giving it around the same weight, does indeed not have Composite/NERA components on the sides at all, but rather all around 15mm of RHA thicc ass bricks that make up the holdings of the APS system, i mean, how funny is that? Spike LR2 should have 1000mm of penetration with a tandem warhead, Spike MR don't have tandem warheads and thus only have 700mm of pen. Guidance should be Fire and Forget and optional manual guidance, contrast seeker and not IR, making it able to lock onto the exposed top of enemy tanks and not when the enemy is 90% exposed. Meanwhile russia gets overpowered shit at 0.7 BR lower that makes the OTOMAGIC look like a regrettable choice to grind (yes im looking at you 2S38) for only $60. Funnily that one basicly comes with absolutely no flaws whatsoever despite only being extremely recently introduced IRL and barely any data available on it, i wonder why gaijin, i wonder why)))).
I honestly can’t wait for Germany to get their Boxer IFV and Heavy weapons carrier (both are currently being selected). Both should play very similar to this but they would be in the tree probably so you can just get them and hope the spikes get better.

It’s definitely an interesting vehicle. American gun and tires Israeli turret and missiles And German hull and drivetrain. I had fun with the vehicle even when stock, the key really is to flank when possible and shoot out mbt barrels when possible. Also from what I’ve seen some people have said that using the regular APDS is better because it spalls more than the darts which is something I’ve yet to test but it’s interesting. But I will likely stick to darts as it does pen significantly easier and maintains velocity at farther distances. Which makes it easier to exploit mbt weakspots.
For me as a German I am just happy to see that tank in-game and it looks like a fun one :) The spikes are more like nice to have when you’re trying to push a side but you can’t because 400m away is some tank hulldown then it’s pretty nice to have those spikes or some Helis :)
As long as you can fire missiles... Hull down targets are very hard for spikes because you need to get lock on and even a smallest bush/tree breaks the lock and initiates missile self destruction.
Scouting tip for ya! If you use your rangefinder on a target before scouting and hear your crew use their voice lines for the tank, you should be able to spot the tank 99% of the time otherwise it will fail.
the spike missiles work really well on those chopper boys who like to hide at distance and hit tanks and as well as spawn camp.... they dont even know they are locked until the explode... its truly satisfying... it just sucks the missiles take a while to get there
Justin, I saw a post one time about how the spotting mechanic works. The crew has to actually spot the tank first, and how to actually tell that is to range find the target and listen for an audio queue, only then can you spot it and accounts.
As someone that owns the VBCI (has its moment, but is mainly pretty terrible) and that Chinese missile launching thing - took one look at the Vilkas and decided to sit this one out.
i mean to be fair you got only close range map and these are LR (long range) spikes, just like any other light tank in WarThunder this isn't a rush vehicle, you sit back under cover and spam spikes from a distance, scout, shoot helis when they rocket rush etc. Personally, i managed to get enough point for a nuke with it (couldn't drop it) by sitting on a cap, spamming spikes/scout and killing a few centauro that came to say hello.
got 2 nukes with the thing before i even had the darts, the mobility+autocannon combo is really good, combined with the anti-helicopter utility of the spikes and IR tracker made it really fun for me to play. engine power makes a lot of difference, VBCI-2 is a lot slower and more sluggish than the Vilkas
Bet, as every event, the spam of such vehicle is getting real. Wish i could play but...no premium account, no party at high tiers (also not enough sanity to try💀)
15:06 : those scouting issues are absolutely ubiquitous, it's one of the most aggravating aspects of playing light tanks especially when late game and knowing scouting some few remaining tanks, especially someone flanking, to help unaware team mates, can make or break the game. As one of the most prominent WT UA-camr would it be possible to push for these bugs to be worked on ? It's an absolute unreliable mess. Sometimes you're stopped, a full tank right the center of your binos and scouting "misses" and go on a full cooldown while other times you can scout meters away from an approximate target behind objects or hills... It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
They need to change the reload of ATGM. It should be like repairing. You should have to decide if you reload or move. The basis being all vehicle mounted ATGM are done outside and you have to stop doing what you are doing get to a safe spot and reload.
Yes, @JustinPlays, they give 20 backups to every premium and event vehicle, so players who don't have lineups don't "fully" mess up matchmaking. No more 1 death leaver "fix"
I've had the Vilkas for about a day now and the only thing I don't like about it the Bushmaster gun on it. I absolutely hate bushmaster guns because of the terrible damage and slow firerate, and I would much rather have the gun from the Puma because those rounds seem to do actual damage. Either the Puma gun or the 25mm Oerlikon.

Gaijin stopped giving out the vehicles early after the bmd 4 if I remember right. The reason was that CC’s bloated the performance stats of the vehicles so they spiked in Br or/and had to be nerfed

Wait so all the leos and 122s will have their vertical targeting nerfed to 10°/s? So they'll essentially get only 1/3 to 1/2 of their current vertical targeting speeds? This will make a massive difference when it comes to aiming for weakspots

I love the Vilkas. But its very clunky, and spikes feel funky. Something aint right with them. Edit: to be clear. The spikes are sometimes amazing. And sometimes they just do nothing on perfect targets. Their angle of attack is also really weird on the damage screen. Also the lock for them is very inconsistent even when i can see the top half of a tank.
They’re 50/50 which is how the ones in the Italian tree are; they were originally way better but people complained and said they were OP and they got nerfed.
It is a shame that game simulates Spikes in a wrong way. Even smallest bush blocks the locking, and you can't fire the missile on the target. To get the lock you have to see the central mass of the vehicle, and hope the missile to maintain the lock. In the real world you could just guide the missile to it's target by hand. It is very frustrating when you have MBT somewhere in front of you, and you can't fire a missile because you can't lock on.
Honestly it seems like a pretty mid vehicle, kind of a side grade from the PUMA but I didn't have anything to take out with my pz btl so id say it was worth it enough Besides I use events as an excuse to grind my high tier lineups, I just go until I get the star and thats my RP investment for the day
One vehicle I'd love for near top tier US is the XM2001 Crusader. I feel like it'd go at either Rank VI or VII. But as for the BR, I don't know where to put it.
most of the veicles doesn't need showcase as they are close to another vehicle's perf, wilcas is like every other house sized light vehicle with autocannon, fast and mostly useless and uptiered due to missiles or apfsds or gaijined. wilcas shouldn't be higher than 9-9.3 as the FF on grounds is mostly a 40/60 and incl missiles gets destroyed mid flight even though target is in the middle of the field and moving p.s.: missiles has a minimum blindspot range of 300m,

from what I can tell you. Vehicles like the vilkas and puma are NOT expected to fight MBTs headon. The missiles are a last resort self defense.

I absolutely love this vehicle ,, its so versatile. If the spikes had been any better it would have been OP and renamed 292 :D .
Wheeled Puma would be the Australian Boxer. Would be nice for Britain but knowing Gaijin they won't add it

Justin, I saw a post one time about how the spotting mechanic works. The crew has to actually spot the tank first, and how to actually tell that is to range find the target and listen for an audio queue, only then can you spot it and accounts.
That does not account for the times you can scout straight through a wall for one and not someone out in the open.

As someone that owns the VBCI (has its moment, but is mainly pretty terrible) and that Chinese missile launching thing - took one look at the Vilkas and decided to sit this one out.
Try 30mm apds for lighter targets. Gives wayyy better spalling than apfsds. Check it in armour viewer if you don't believe me

i mean to be fair you got only close range map and these are LR (long range) spikes, just like any other light tank in WarThunder this isn't a rush vehicle, you sit back under cover and spam spikes from a distance, scout, shoot helis when they rocket rush etc.
Personally, i managed to get enough point for a nuke with it (couldn't drop it) by sitting on a cap, spamming spikes/scout and killing a few centauro that came to say hello.
I think the best distance for the Spikes is 500m+ up to 2km

got 2 nukes with the thing before i even had the darts, the mobility+autocannon combo is really good, combined with the anti-helicopter utility of the spikes and IR tracker made it really fun for me to play. engine power makes a lot of difference, VBCI-2 is a lot slower and more sluggish than the Vilkas

15:06 : those scouting issues are absolutely ubiquitous, it's one of the most aggravating aspects of playing light tanks especially when late game and knowing scouting some few remaining tanks, especially someone flanking, to help unaware team mates, can make or break the game.
As one of the most prominent WT UA-camr would it be possible to push for these bugs to be worked on ?
It's an absolute unreliable mess. Sometimes you're stopped, a full tank right the center of your binos and scouting "misses" and go on a full cooldown while other times you can scout meters away from an approximate target behind objects or hills... It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
They need to change the reload of ATGM. It should be like repairing. You should have to decide if you reload or move. The basis being all vehicle mounted ATGM are done outside and you have to stop doing what you are doing get to a safe spot and reload.
Yes, @JustinPlays, they give 20 backups to every premium and event vehicle, so players who don't have lineups don't "fully" mess up matchmaking. No more 1 death leaver "fix"

I've had the Vilkas for about a day now and the only thing I don't like about it the Bushmaster gun on it. I absolutely hate bushmaster guns because of the terrible damage and slow firerate, and I would much rather have the gun from the Puma because those rounds seem to do actual damage. Either the Puma gun or the 25mm Oerlikon.
The t90m has the same ammo problem your turret ammo will blow and you lose all the ammo in the carrousel

I feel what youre saying about 30mm post pen damage feeling sub optimal. But then in reality most of the time its just whichever im driving has worse post pen then whatever im playing against. So ive come to the conclusion that we have been nerfed

Gaijin stopped giving out the vehicles early after the bmd 4 if I remember right. The reason was that CC’s bloated the performance stats of the vehicles so they spiked in Br or/and had to be nerfed

What do you mean by that nerf the leoprard´s ? they just change the turret rotation or the vertical guidens ? , for me i see no problem with them but, if they see that the russian win rate dropes they need to nerf the other tanks to get the win rate back? aha .
It's probably worth buying on the market...the grind is terrible for people with jobs/school.
But can you do that little trick that the QN-560 can do lock onto the drone and fling that spike missile across the map while enemy is behind a big hill or cover?

15:35 No. Your turret amunition got hit and you didnt fire extinguish fast enough and it spread to the stowage amunition cooking that off as well. That was the big stream of fire coming out your turret.
At 14:12 you can see that the ammo count goes to 0 immediatly. Also ammunition fires can not be extinguished Its a bug

I love the Vilkas. But its very clunky, and spikes feel funky. Something aint right with them. Edit: to be clear. The spikes are sometimes amazing. And sometimes they just do nothing on perfect targets. Their angle of attack is also really weird on the damage screen. Also the lock for them is very inconsistent even when i can see the top half of a tank.
They’re 50/50 which is how the ones in the Italian tree are; they were originally way better but people complained and said they were OP and they got nerfed.
It is a shame that game simulates Spikes in a wrong way. Even smallest bush blocks the locking, and you can't fire the missile on the target. To get the lock you have to see the central mass of the vehicle, and hope the missile to maintain the lock. In the real world you could just guide the missile to it's target by hand. It is very frustrating when you have MBT somewhere in front of you, and you can't fire a missile because you can't lock on.
Honestly it seems like a pretty mid vehicle, kind of a side grade from the PUMA but I didn't have anything to take out with my pz btl so id say it was worth it enough
Besides I use events as an excuse to grind my high tier lineups, I just go until I get the star and thats my RP investment for the day
One vehicle I'd love for near top tier US is the XM2001 Crusader. I feel like it'd go at either Rank VI or VII. But as for the BR, I don't know where to put it.

most of the veicles doesn't need showcase as they are close to another vehicle's perf, wilcas is like every other house sized light vehicle with autocannon, fast and mostly useless and uptiered due to missiles or apfsds or gaijined. wilcas shouldn't be higher than 9-9.3 as the FF on grounds is mostly a 40/60 and incl missiles gets destroyed mid flight even though target is in the middle of the field and moving
p.s.: missiles has a minimum blindspot range of 300m,

Spikes have an arming distance anyway, so less than 200-300m is normal.
