This was my first mission with Desolators, I grabbed my entire force, clicked deploy (For the flak trucks) and wiped my base in a single accidental stroke
Fun fact: If you have Industrial building built that reduces the cost of every tank, you can use the grinder to make an infinite amount of money, just buy apocalypse tanks and grind them non-stop.
The Battle Bunker was my favorite base defense. They gave you a garrisonable building you don't need engineers to repair, if you could load anti air units into it, it would be god tier/
Imagine this mission from the locals point of view. Bunch of purple psychonauts hole up in their homes and refuse to leave. Missile strikes nearly level their homes, but the psychonauts finally bail. Some guys walk into the buildings and magically repair them to like new. Then a bunch of RED psychonauts hole up in their homes and refuse to leave.
The laugh of Yuri at the begining of most missions is just golden - perfect start of missions and also it is one of the best music on the soundtrack of Yuri Revenge.
Pretty fun mission. Indeed challenging to hold back the enemy attacks. My strategy is to build a wall of battle bunkers and it always works. I dont protect the miners, they are safe... well, most of the time. Once I get my defences setup, I prepare flack truck with dogs and engineers to assault the far bottom right oil rig to build an ore refinery and a barracks there to get Romanov fast. Once I get romanov I build a small wall on the map corner where we start and keep him there safe in my base until I conquer everything else xD. The strategy of capturing the buildings with initiates is pretty good. I usually iron curtain demo trucks and just blow them up xD. Same with the base. Pretty good!
As tedious and time consuming as this level is its my favorite soviet level. My key to sucess is a massive engineer rush. Load 3-4 flak tracts with engineers and use an iron curtain the get them in the base and quicker capture and sell yuris construction yard and barracks. Makes this level so much easier.
1. Train Crazy Ivan 2. Build Demo Trucks 3. Put TNT 4. Let them go to Psychic Tower, with or without Iron Curtain, at perfect TNT timing 5. KABOOM IN MIND CONTROL Also me : Instead garrisoning to stop Yuri troops (after clearing middle section), I use Desolator 🤣
30:40 Ah yep. Reminding me about my 1st attempt to bleep' the hecc out there base with libyan freedom fighters. 2 sec later.... Instant regret. All of my garrisoned bldg destroyed. No wonder why Yuri Clones and psychic tower are such damn annoying in this mission
@@Bloodlyshiva becuase they are yuri imune, they have a lot of armor. And the last thing is that they get a Canon when they are fully upgraded. This make them viable as both a infantiry and tank killer. A level 3 miner is pretty much as good as a acopalypse tank. And If you use the sell refinary trick you can get them for 1000 Credits. Manufacuting plant also get them fairly cheap. Now im not sure about this. But I think they are auto repairing to.making the L3 double speed auto repairing. Making them pretty much imune. Becuase they have so much armour. Even if they are slow to kill.they stand there and spraying for days. They also just need to kill to yuri to get a upgrade, and they are really fast in doing that
i downloaded RA2YR and encountered a glitch where the Iron Curtain won't be available for this mission. So i just line up my War Miners 3x4, level them up, and conquer the base.
I commend you for your restrain in dealing with garrisoned civilian buildings, i end up by massing V3 rocket launchers and raze the whole city to the ground until they had no more structure to barricade into. Then i fortified the main river bank with a small outpost filled with tesla coils and bunkers before starting to organized the final assault.
Romanov on the Run? In Soviet Russia, he's not running away. They're the one running away from him, he's just having fun xD Honestly though Acolytes inside buildings are just too OP, only air and siege units can deal with them. If they don't enter the next buildings after we destroyed it. 30:40 Yep, that's why you don't use demolition truck xD

I found taking the Yuri factory and making Gatling tanks useful because the Gatling tanks outrange garrisoned buildings. Keep a squad of rhinos or Apocalypse to destroy Gatling towers and lasher tanks.
That is one of my favourite missions in Soviet YR campaign, but the next is impossibly hard for me in Hard diffuculty (I forgot how I managed to win, but I remember that emotions I had while I was playing it) Could you make a video with the best strategy on Soviet mission - 5? When you built the Flak Truck and sent it towards the Psychic Towers, I was asking myself why did you do that instead of using the Iron Curtain and send the Demolition Trucks directly towards the base. Then, the outro happened XD
"Guns are too messy!" An interesting mission to be sure, though not exactly a hard one. Sure, you have to get through several buildings full of Initiates (which is likely classified as a WMD), but you have almost the entire Soviet arsenal, including the Iron Curtain and, your best weapon by far, Polar Bears.
It’s kinda funny as well as the ai is so stupid too. That building a wall in front of the bunker causes the infantry to walk around the wall to hit the bunker exposed side. What I don’t understand is why can’t sentry gun shoot over the walls but the battle bunker can?

I'm in need of some help if anyone is out there. I've searched far and wide trying to determine or search for the correct subject. I recently downloaded Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge from Origin. The Red Alert 2 playthrough has the menu tab on the right where you build and produce units similar in size to this. The Yuri's Revenge playthrough has the menu buttons much larger. Basically I'm trying to figure out if it's my display settings with my laptop and or my additional 27" screen that needs adjusting or if the fix is in the configuration settings? I like how this video has smaller icons and you can see more of the actual map versus larger icons and almost being "zoomed" in. Is there anyone out there that could help me? Thanks!
Just out of curiosity, is there are reason why you don't remove your garrisoned troops so that they can get immediately promoted, then put them back in the Battle Bunker?

2:08 *cringe* You build refineries as close as possible to the more valuable resources, not ~10 cells away. You can even place the Refinery right next to gem patches with no empty cells in-between, no trouble.
Is it possible there are 2 different models for Tech Airport used in the game? This one's unavailable for capturing, its land core is a perfect square. The other airports have cut corners.
Playing this mission for the first time all those years ago showed me garrisoned Initiates are super dangerous, don't get close. Edit: I wasn't telling you to not get close, I wasn't trying to criticize.

tesla tanks are especially good in this mission. They can kill yuri clones instantly and their range is pretty much the same.

You could use Gattling Tanks to destroy the Garrison Buildings.Gattling Tanks have longer range than garrison buildings.
