Red Alert 2: Soviet Mission 10 - Weathered Alliance [Long-play & Tips]
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 лип 2024
- This is the 10th mission of the Soviet Campaign, Weathered Alliance.
This mission can become quite long if you want to prolong it which will make it even more enjoyable. When you capture the Battle Lab the map will be extended. From that part you can either Nuke the Weather Control Device which will be destroyed with only one launch or explore the map and you may find a few interesting stuff!
All missions are played on Hard difficulty.

All times mentioned here assume a game speed of 15FPS; halve that to get the time at 30FPS "fast".
24:55 is where the real good stuff happens.
Fun fact: Westwood added a trigger in the event players capture the Weather Control Device instead of destroying it; this is not possible here since it hasn't been modified to allow that.
However, you can still fire that trigger if you enter it with a spy. Which you also can't since he's unbuildable in this mission. The trigger's condition is "Entered by House# 13 Player". The trigger does the same as the ordinary WCD Destroyed trigger, but it also sets Global Variable 7 before letting you win.
I don't know what Global Variable 7 does. You'll just have to wait and see if I find "27,0,7" in the coming missions ;)
You have a total of three enemies here; BadGuy1 defends the Battle Lab,
BadGuy2 defends the small water pass that let's you go up from your first island to the WCD (which you bypassed here by building a Naval Yard on the other side, behind the Lab),
and BadGuy3 defends the WCD.
Other3 House is the initial owner of the WCD, but he's got nothing else. The WCD later changes owner to BadGuy3.
Also, Westwood extended this map, but I can't remember if they added 5 cell rows to the bottom or to the top. I know this because of how the base nodes for the Battle Lab base are misplaced by 5 cells upwards of where they're supposed to be.
As-is, the AI will probably try and fail to build the things on cliff, sloped and water tiles; because that's just how the nodes are placed.
Only BadGuy1 House has base nodes.
9:23 this is only valid for medium and hard. These guys are spawned at the ACHQs of BadGuy3, just a bit south of the WCD, outside the (currently) playable map area. I don't know what BuildingType they're supposed to target in the event they don't die and manage to kill the Nuke; they'll target more buildings after that second one's dealt with.
They re-appear at 29:50
12:08 that's BadGuy2 House.
14:08 if it's damaged, a trigger will make Zofia remind you to keep it intact. That trigger only fires once though.
BTW, the event is, again, Entered by Player. So infiltrating with Spies might count as "capture" in this case.
17:50 if you get a cow into an IFV, you have something much better than OP Prism Support; OP Prism on wheels ;P
Too bad that's not possible here; if you MC them they can't enter vehicles.
22:46 I wonder if those Harriers would've changed Owner with the ACHQ they were docked with. I think they did in RA2All02 only because of a trigger, but I might be wrong.
24:55 this is where the interesting stuff happens. This is the reason why it takes 5min for the first Lightning Storm, but 10min for the next ones. Which is not possible with how WW coded the SWs; you can only have one version of a SW and all of its stats will be shared with all players and Houses.
Do you notice how the WCD's countdown is in red, yet the WCD is colored grey? That countdown is actually a Mission Timer, lasting 300s and takes its Timer Text from the WCD's SW name string "Name:Storm". You can't stop it.
275s after timer starts, a cutscene plays.
When Mission Timer Expires (300s) multiple Lightning Storm Strikes (essentially Storm SW) are supposed to happen. Because of how WW coded them, I'm not sure if more than one Lightning Storm actually happens.
Their locations: at the starting Reactor and Radar; at the entrance to the Lab island; at the entrance to BadGuy2's base; just a bit off the first island with the Outpost and gems; to the South-West of the second Outpost, just a bit off the northern beach.
Once trigger WCD_Attack_fake fires, it enables WCD_Enabled_real, which waits for 5s before setting Local variable 4 WCD Power On.
That finally fires the trigger that changes the WCD's Owner from Other3House to BadGuy3 House. If he's still got enough power, the real Lightning Storm SW will finally start charging...
25:54 WCD had too many nerfs.
Map mods:
-standard resource and capacity stuff that results in the same amount of cash mined twice as fast.
-Allied Battle Lab consumes no power.
-Weather Control Device Strength and Armor nerfed from 1000 concrete to wood 200 (so one Nuke will kill it).
-SEALs buildable at TechLevel 9. That'd be the BadGuy Houses, but not the Player House (TechLevel=8). So no SEALs for you!
-Money Delta is plus/minus 5000. But that means modifying the Generals section. Prism Support is OP!
-Spies are unbuildable by player; they're at TechLevel -1, only AI can build them.
-Squid: TechLevel reduced to 8 so you can still build it (remember, you're at TechLevel 8); it looks like all of the Squid's rules code was copied over into the file for some reason.
Damn
I think that once I had let the timer run out just to see what happens, and yeah, multiple storms did spawn. What was the point of Ww doing this though? It doesn't make sense, since you can destroy the WCD long before the first timer runs out, even without the nuke. You would think they would buff the WCD instead of nerfing it, but who knows, maybe they had something else in mind.
I believe one reason why RA2 don’t use generic houses is because of various tech unlocks and special building requirements. For example nuke in tech level 8. I could be wrong though.
Wow thabk you fort this, worth reading ehile watching.
That's a lot of nerfed HP here.
I can't believe WW nerf this WCD. I might be assuming it's a beta-test so it's very vulnerable. Heheh
tg's "Long-play"s are even shorter than my "Speedrun"s.
xD
Lmao...
Than increase your mouse dpi ? maybe you moving your mouse too slowly XD

When I was a kid playing this mission I took the dolphin threat seriously. Now as an adult the absurdity of giant squid losing to a dolphin is hilarious!
Yuri himself is almost breaking the fourth wall being in disbelief of what he said. ROLFMAO
I spent a good chunk of my childhood playing this game and i regret absolutely nothing. Love this so much and i miss it
this game is epic why ea and petroglyph didnt get strait on to remastering ra2 and tib sun strait after cnc1 and ra1 is beyond me.
@@anwarshahaddat3412 EA will remaster RA2 and TS sooner or later.
maybe the game will be announced by November or something and be released in early 2022.
I'm hopeful. C&C games are my favorite RTS franchise. my first ever PC game was in fact RA2 back in 2005.

That was originally an edited image wherein Lenin was photoshopped in with Stalin; they just put Yuri's head over Lenin's doctored image lmao
None of the people in that photo were ever there, lol.
@@Rougesteelproject You kidding me? It's a real photo, just google stalin and lenin sitting on a bench

Squid hitler is certainly being a decorated war vet
Well that squid failed art school and now was a part of soviet naval what could go wrong
Kinda sad that there hasn't been a CnCNet patch that adds the Yuri's Revenge vehicle voices when playing vanilla RA2.
I've played the campaign mission so many times. But couldn't see the whole map. Bcoz of the one shot nuclear missile before the storm could hit me. You have so much patient tg.. hahaha... nicely done.
This is one of my top favorite Classic RA2 levels. Such a slow progress to the end. Feels like you're conquering the map step by step. Which is why I like it.
I find your meticulous playstyle incredibly satisfying, can't wait for next video!
tg, you make me relive some of the best memories of my childhood. For that, I thank you.
It's a shame to admit that even I played this mission for many times, this is the very first time I see the full map revealed. Usually I just capture the battle lab after the nuclear missle is ready, and just destroy the weather control device immediately before any other dramas could happen.
17:50 A Psi Commando and Cows? Must be his training ground for new recruits. Psi COWS! The new unit from Yuri's laboratory^^
And I thought the camera cows were a crazy enough idea...
if only cows can be transported to other island. Suicide bomber cows FTW
....No, this psi commando is a bovine entity. He is the great Cattle-ist of Cow Revolution. And the writer of Our Dairy Bread, which the code for the herd to follow in their life.
Yeah, I have attacked the Weather Device directly with ground forces once. It is a bit rough to get to the second island and breach the shore.
I didn't realize that hotel in the southwest side of the map is actually keeping a crate!
This game never fails to amaze me
This was super fun to watch and brought back many memories of watching my older brother play this. Thanks for the upload :)
13:35 rip the dog. Crushed by chronominer. :(
27:27 that miner is supposed to start mining after the mission extends to this stage. But for some reason it says here doing nothing.
When I recently played this mission, I modify the map and adds a lot of grand cannons (powered on) so makes assaulting and landing much more challenging compared to original game. I also attach psi-commando discovery event with a map reveal event so next step of clearing WCD will happen a bit easier. (No, I’m not talking about killing it with a single prepared nuke) Of course, BadGuy3 bases are also guarded by several additional grand cannons. If I know the way to mod the range of grand cannons so they can fire as far as in allmd1 (basically first allies mission in YR), this mission would’ve been a whole lot more hectic, as I have to build a hell lot of sea scorpions as meat shield to distract while trying to destroy using dreadnaught. Vanilla one on the other hand is more or less underwhelming after two or three tries.
SEALs are so annoying that they can sink your entire dreadnaught fleet if you are not careful.
Perhaps the reason why the Weather Control Device is as thin as paper in this mission, is because it's the first device the Allies have placed in the field and made operational. I love this mission aplenty since I like stalling, making big bases and a large crowd of Apocalypse Tanks to roll over the Allies with no difficulty. I can't wait for Red Revolution! The best mission in the Soviet Campaign!
Also Zofia's concern at the beginning... the way she looks at you is heartmelting. So pretty 🥰 We'll get thru this, Zofia. Not to worry~
*smiles* All Soviet troops under my command: execute Military Protocol Psyker! Destroy the traitorous Psychic Corps!
"That odd little man Einstein" says the psychic always talking in a low, raspy voice. 😂
Einstein's time travel shenanigans really messed up the Multiverse, you know.
They also messed up Yuri's pronunciations, as in "more tenacious than I sought" !
One of the missions that i don't feel bored to see again and again....
The way you matered playing it is undescribable!
This game is the reason I have a bootcamp partition for my Mac; games like this age like fine whisky. Amazing videos and insights as usual fam! Keep it up! 👊
26:17 I never see this cinematic before because a lot of us killed the WCD with a Nuclear Missile before it's activated.
Hitler: wtf where am I
Stalin: good work comrade yuri
Yuri:no problem
Yuri looks like Lenin. lol 😂
You can sell your starting radar and power plant before you capture the battle lab, and the allies will still use their first catastrophic storm where your radar and pp used to be. (Subsequent storms iirc are generated against naval targets)
The photo is a fake of a fake, so the joke at the end is triply funny
To explain the joke: Stalin was 1940's photoshopped in that picture w/ Lenin, and they replaced Lenin in the game with Yuri.
@@Rougesteelproject Exactly
@@Rougesteelproject AND WHAT ARE HITLER DOING HERE?!
@@MoondropSimulacra Apparently, Einstein's erasure device worked too well...
Nice tg your the great ill be watch your next video mission 11
That photo at the beginning where they sit on the bench always bothers me... the original photo was Stalin and Lenin sitting on a bench, and all Ww did was that they replaced Lenin's face with seemingly a highly disturbed Yuri face.
This is arguably the sweetest, most enjoyable mission in RA2. It is long, there is much to do, much to explore, the pressure isn't high and you can also end it really quickly. It isn't really challenging, but eh, who cares in this case. Tg did a good job at showing all the stuff that there is to do. Unfortunately, the one thing that this mission doesn't do is that it doesn't set the proper tone for the next one.
In other words, most people (including me) had the time of their lives when first completing this mission, and then felt like they were hit by a truck in the next.
Actually, that "original" photo of Lenin and Stalin was photoshopped too.
Back then when I first play this mission,
That photo... that cursed photo got me
It's cool how you can still beat the par time with long plays instead of rushing / speedrunning.
Now I realized that when I was a kid, Lt. Zofia is already hitting me up XD
I caught on as a teenager. And I was down.
"Warning, nuclear missle lunched." *nomnomnom
18:28: "Nuke test begin... success!"
27:01 - 28:20 Commander, some of our best fliers gave their lives to disable the enemy's power source.
let's make that sacrifice mean something.
TAKE OUT THAT DEVICE!!
Hope those things get replaced by those MiGs.
Fought the allies head on and didn't use nuclear bomb to instant finish the mission unlike other youtubers and captured the weather control device.
What a absolute chad 👍
I had a glitch on this mission once where the psi commando died at the same time the weather control device blew up and the mission was stuck continuously looping the victory cheer while the "mission failed" window popped up and disappeared.
Next should red revolution. I am looking forward to see what you will do there. And btw you are on the ball. Congrats! :D
I finished Red Revolution within 55 minutes!
Yeah I want to see that too!
@@tsiripas Was that par time?
Edit as of Nov. 2022: Nevermind. It was four minutes past it.
@@tsiripas it is possible to rush kirovs and win in a few minutes. But why would we do that in the video that suppose to discover everything hiding in the mission anyway
@@volknetai.3690 You can't build Kirovs in this mission.
If you blow up a weather control device with psy commandos, the mission will stuck - everyone will cheers, but without victory
That's odd. There's something special in place for when you enter the WCD, but it shouldn't prevent you from winning.
Tested it, using psi-commando on WCD results in the game getting stuck :(
Wonder if the same happens if you use a MC navy seal to destroy the WCD
you heared of cow level...but what about cow island??
my favorite Soviet mission in RA2
The next one red revolution is the best I think
This mission is pretty much easy
I never made this mission that far. Thanks for revealing the northernmost base.
Wow, I never explored the map... there are so many more stuff to discover...
best video game in the world
I remember attacking the energy shoreline with a nuclear missile, but after my first nuclear missile, the enerny was suddenly destroying my base with rocketeers that I quit the game out of fear of getting a game over.
8:35 That dreadnought used to belong to a civilian house which is hostile to yours, and was transferred to your command when you explored its docking area. Well, the dreadnought itself was transferred but not its already loaded missiles (colored dark grey), which were eventually still seen as hostile by your sea scorpions who shot them down. Note that this civilian house is hostile to you but not to your enemies house, which means your first dreadnought missile fire can harm enemy defenses without fear of strike back by allied anti-air. After reload, however, the next missiles will belong to your/your acquired dreadnought's house.
I don't know if soviet missiles (like the V3) are considered as units on their own, similarly to allied hornets. I can't find out if their stats can be modified in the rules for modding purpose.
Soviet Navy: "Yes Commander."
Soviet General: It's General.
Next stop, Moscow! I can't wait for Russian Revolution. Such a complex mission and yet so many secrets! Yuri's coup within the Soviet Union really is a nightmare fuel
After capturing/destroying entire enemy base around Weather Control Device, you can place an ad to sell a Super Weapon itself on AliExpress or other internet-shop🤣
Strange...almost the entire world map in starting screen is under Soviet rule except China. Don’t count Alaska, does it have any implied meaning? Or are they so strong that the Soviet can’t beat them at that time?
i'd say Alaska was probably thought to be one of the smaller allied bases that needed no immediate attention, until the last mission that is, when the lovely lt. zofia mentioned a "parting gift" from yuri.
as for china, well they're already practicing communism, so there was really no need for the soviets to attack them in the first place. the allies were the ones that needed to be cleared out first
Stalin attacked them in RA1. Pretty sure it made them not like him or Soviets in RA-verse, not enough to join the cause, at least, but I'm not sure.
This might explain why China became the new Red superpower in Generals; them not being loyal to the Soviets might have given them some leeway... good thing they lost their power sucking off their resources by fighting against the GLA. Thank goodness the GDI was created to replace the arrogant and expansionist forces of the U.S.A. and China...
@@michaelandreipalon359 I wouldn't put Generals and Red Alert or even Tiberium as playing out in the same universe, not like this.
But good theory as to how they could be connected.
@@CnCDune Thank you.
Also, the theoretical Westwood games timeline (yes, this includes Generals: Zero Hour yet excludes Tiberium Wars and onwards) would be 1946-1953 (RA1+Counterstrike and Aftermath; there's also the late 1950s, because of the Ant Missions), 1972 (RA2: YR; the events of RA2's vanilla campaign were reset by Yuri's actions), 1983-1984 (Generals+ZH), 1997-2000 (TD+CO and Renegade), 2030 (TS), and 2031 (TS: Firestorm).
Does this make sense? You may like to comment on things here.
Oh my goodness! The ending showed your post game time!
It’s a screenshot otherwise it will not show.
33:17: Oh. Thanks, tg-sacred for the help here!
However, for beyond par time: "The Allies cannot hold out much longer against your heavy-handed assaults. You use the lives of your men well."
For this mission I will normally capture the first base and build whatever harriers I need in order to destroy the weather control device, and its all done within 20 mins! Cheers!
this mission is so much more interesting without the nuke. I always wondered why they gave it to you or why the WCD was a one shot kill.
5:08: "Fascinating. We're literally controlling the Krakens from those sailor myths. These Giant Squids should be usef- what's that, Miller? You want to name it? Alright, but be quick, and make sure it's not an Allied name like 'Uncle Sam'... I renamed his turtle 'Crush'."

ofc this is not possible in skirmish
The WCD got some heavy nerfs here.
Quite hard to decide on a fav mission from the Soviet campaign for me all of the last 3 are very well made and quite more exciting than the Allied ones
You know it’s been awhile I haven’t played this campaign. It was fun to destroy things every one of them that I don’t care much.
Just played this campaign a while ago. And I gotta say you dont need an army to destroy the second base and their super weapon. Just Nuke directly towards the super weapon and it'll be destroyed instantly.
Yes, but this is a long play. I am not trying to finish the mission as fast as I can.
@@tsiripas same with me hahaha. I just figured it out because I irresponsibly nuke their super weapon and I didnt know it would destroyed instantly

what?
As a long player this is how I play too expect I take down many places with missile ships
Lol Yuri does looks like Lenin without those head contraptions
That photo of Yuri and Stalin is a doctored photo of Lenin and Stalin which is again a doctored photo of Stalin and someone else looking like Lenin.
I haven't landed my troops on that island yet (where the weather control device is located). One reason is the unextended map does not have access to the other side of the sea. And the island is heavy guarded so I tried to manually attack it only once.
33:10: "They're resisting capture... fine, destroy it instead! I don't care which!"
I played recently and have a bug that won't allow me to build nuke, so i had to go through the base to get to the weather control. Same thing happened in the Red Revolution but not in the Polar Storm 😂
33:20: "Herr Hitler?! What are you doing here?! You're supposed to be gone from time!"
"Also, you're a terrible liar!"
7:57: "Well, there's some target practice running around there, so..."
The last time I played that mission, it took me a SINGLE nuke to destroy the Weather Control Device, no invasion on the 2nd island required
24:58: "Found it! Now, strike!"
It should be the top 2 interesting soviet mission( another is the red revolution) in RA2
33:20 AMONG
You should do a video on how to fix your resolution for RA2
I never get to explore around the map lol
I saved the NUKE to blow up the WCD as soon as it appeared on the map.

what happens when you build allied battle lab yourself? you could train spies and infiltrate a lot of stuff there, if it didn't trigger the WCD
You can't train spies; they've been made unbuildable by the player here.
What happens is you wasted the money building the battle lab as it does exactly the same as the one your supposed to capture, except it doesn't reveal the WCD on the map.
