Aaliyah has truly earned her nickname the "Princess of R&B". Selling over 30 million records worldwide, she has been credited for helping to redefine R&B and Hip Hop.
Aaliyah was both a successful singer and actress on the verge of superstardom when she tragically died, aged just 22, in a plane crash in 2001.
She sang professionally from a young age and in 1994 released her first album, Age Ain't Nothin' But A Number when she was just 14 years old. Within 2 years, she released her second album One in a Million. Aaliyah's music has achieved huge commercial success including several posthumous releases.
By the end of the decade she was working in Hollywood, starring in films such as Romeo Must Die, Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned and the sequel to The Matrix.
At the time of her untimely death she had released three albums and had agreed to appear in two more films.
In 1995, Windrush Productions gained exclusive access to the Amsterdam leg of Aaliyah's European tour. As well as capturing live footage of the concert, Aaliyah and her Father agreed to be interviewed, in a series of intimate conversations, they speak openly about her musical influences, achievements hopes and dreams.
Aaliyah Live in Amsterdam captures a star in their ascendancy. As the story unfolds it provides fans with a rare insight into Aaliyah, and leaves us wondering how much she would have achieved had her life not been so tragically cut short.

This was so sweet, it was heartbreaking, seeing that beautiful loving relationship between father and daughter, what a genuine, unique, talented and down to earth person Aaliyah was throughout her whole career. It actually made me cry for real, listening to her dad. RIP both of them 🙏

Wooow, I never knew Aaliyah had actually performed here in AMS!! Amazing to see her on one of our main squares :-) wonderful to see her dad as well..already at that age..such a person, kind, warm and no diva-craziness.

She started very young singing. When she start with R Kelly she was around 12 years and made the song age is nothing but a number around 14 years, we start knowing more about her at the age of 15 years old because of what went on with her and R Kelly. People would ask her how old she was and she would come up with excuses and she told them it is a secret a woman never reveals her age. After the truth came out of her age because the marrying R Kelly when she was 15 and proof of it and frauding her age on the marriage license to say she is 18. A lot of her fans did not believe what happened. Then on her birthday she hint that she is having a sweet
birthday, people put one and one together and knew she is having a sweet 16 birthday bash.
I will always remember her and will always love her and her music I know it was not her fault but adults who groomed her to be a part in such situations. Those adults knew and was pimping her out until the media found out they got a backlash from everyone then they decide to remove her from R Kelly and pretend they did not know. If she was alive she would of been major unstoppable.

Thank you man looking forward tot he Doc...I used to go as a teenager to club Escape I must been 16 orso...though by that time Aaliyah was already a well known name back in 1999.
Aaliyah is and will FOREVER be SPECIAL woman. That kind of person is RARE in this day, which is why she will forever be remembered for her legacy. Life is about LIVING while your HERE. She was , is and forever will be STAR and she came here and did what stars do SHINE! She did that in her time, because we don't know how much time we got! I'm SO HAPPY that she did what she came to do and shared that with us. Her music will NEVER die. That is GIFT from God , sick of hearing people focusing on death its so much more than that.

its not deep, in the studio she sings in a falsetto. Live she mostly uses her chest voice (and occassionaly gives us that sweet airy falsetto and head notes) but she was still hitting the notes and doing the riffs and runs. Aaliyah had mad range
