The days when Aaliyah took tf over MTV..I remember she STAYYYYED on MTV lol..she always had her own sit down type specials. I also couldn't wait to get the next issue of Word Up, Fresh, Black Beat, Jet, Honey and Ebony Magazines...ugh I miss these days. Gone are those and her and it's all sad when you think about it. My God times definitely came and went and it has changed. Nothing is the same anymore. RIP Aaliyah
She is so lively! Love her energy. She always had that cool appeal to her from a bright start and sad finish throughout the course of her career. Love Aaliyah
That and Aaliyah was rare she could dress like a total tomboy yet still be a sexy female and not come off like a girl trying to be a man I always say 90s Aaliyah was 90z tomboy early 2000 Aaliyah more feminine
So many reasons why I luv this video. First off, Aaliyah was stunning. But I luv how wen u see her, u see the truu essence of wat us Midwest Girls really are. The swag, the accent, the humility and the round the way girl vibe. How we looked and dressed. This is wat the world grew to luv about her. And alot of us(MidWest Chiccs) are like this. She made us proud. Also, the shoutout to Chicago along wit the stepping. She gav a glimpse of wat we do and how we get down. This video was refreshing to watch. Even tho it was such a long time ago, it still resignates wit our MidWest culture today. Great times those were.... the 90's. And I'm proud to be a 90's baby and she is so missed!
She was sooo thuggish and cool 😎 I wanna go back to the 90s, sooooo badly. Those outfits were in with the ladies. I remember wearing boy sneakers at the time.
Ppl always criticize her popularity and she went on a world tour when she was 15-16 to go on a world tour you must be popular enough tf and also back and forth and at your best should’ve been Grammy nominated tf the whole Robert thing pushed her career back from where it was supposed to be man that’s so sad
She said she was shaken after that earthquake...I got chills. I imagine she must've felt that way and more when that 🛩️ went down..RIP always Babygirl 😓
I am so fortunate that Bill Bellamy got the job for MTV Jams!! He was super talented, extremely funny, and knew his shit real well. Someone in another video said that he was well rehearsed. That couldn't be far from the truth.

For everyone who is wondering this is the entire interview. I recorded the entire MTV jams that day and she was only featured in these 2 segments. It is definitely February of 1995 because the video Bill Bellamy mentions coming up next by K-Ci Hailey was released in February of 1995.
I never knew Bill was a VJ. I don't think some ppl in the media knew Aaliyah & Bill interviewed together before. I remember when the accident occurred some media outlet out of the blue asked Bill and another male artist (Ice Cube?) their thoughts on what occurred. Of course they were in shock.
I only got this much because I was flipping through the channels and saw she was on MTV. I threw a videotape into my machine and started recording. If I hadn’t done that this footage would be lost forever.
They were just being friends but because of R Kelly’s jealousy on how close they were to each other then the shit popped off when they were dancing and shaking hands. It’s crazy how things were for her back then 😕
