I was 14 when she passed. It was a Saturday night. We were watching America's Most Wanted and during commercial break, the news broke that Aaliyah's plane had crashed but they didn't say she died. So I was hoping and praying that she was alright. I had to wait until the show went off for the news to come on at 10. When they said the crash was fatal, my heart dropped. I was so heartbroken and the next day was just gloomy and all the radio stations were playing her music. Me and my cousin were on the phone crying 😢 we couldn't believe our girl was gone. Smh
I don’t remember it being night. I’m like 50/50 it was in the day. I remember being on my bed. So if it was at night, it barely reached 8 because summertime it gets dark late. Aaliyah died two days before my 14th birthday. I remember when I found out clearly. My mummy called us and told us over the phone. She was in the USA (we're Trinidadians). I cried like a baby and for a long time after, it was always a sad day for me. My mom brought back a bootleg copy of the "Aaliyah" album and I wore that out. I lent it to my best friend at the time and we bonded even more over it. We especially liked "Those Were the Days". I never got into "More than a Woman" but loved and still love "Rock the Boat"! Then I was like no way, and he was saying, "Its true, its true, just heard it on the radio." Immediately my mind went to my niece who at the time was a great fan of Aaliyah. I’ll never forget when I went to see QOTD in theaters (obviously after she passed) and when the movie ended, the entire theatre stood up and gave her a standing ovation. 💔🙏 it was so emotional and beautiful to watch because everyone there was to see HER not just to watch the latest movie that was out. Her fans are loyal to this day 🙏💓
I miss Aaliyah a lot. Still have trouble accepting that the crash happened. I'm now 27 and she died when she was 22...crazy. Such a short time really. Supposedly she had premonitions of her death too. "It is dark in my favorite dream. Someone is following me. I don't know why. I'm scared. Then suddenly I lift off. Far away. How do I feel? As if I am swimming in the air. Free. Weightless. Nobody can reach me. Nobody can touch me. It's a wonderful feeling." She was having a recurring dream...maybe even an out of body experience. I used to have some recurring dreams that were pretty catastrophic...but they stopped. Later on I got in a car crash...looked bad, but I came out with only a broken foot. Makes me wonder if my dream had anything to do with it.
I remember that day, riding in the car with my parents, skimming through the local newspaper seeing the headline Aaliyah dies in plane crash. My heart sank, when I got home it was all over the news. One of the saddest day ever. Then 9/11 happened two weeks later. 😢
I am still haunted by what happened to her. I pray she didn't suffer in her last moments. She was a class act. NOBODY can ever match her unique talent.
She didn't wanna get on the plane, so she stayed behind in the vehicle they arrived in! Someone then came to check on her, gave her a sleeping pill, and then carried a sedated Aaliyah onto the plane! She had NO CLUE she was gonna meet the end
RIP Aaliyah she passed away 20 days after my grandmother passed away on my mom side. Then 9/11 happened weeks later. 2001 wasn't a good year for me. Then my grandfather passed away on my dad side in December that year
Its been 14 yrs. I was 14 going on 15. I just turn 29. Its still hard to believe she is gone. But thanks too some ppl in the music industry. She is able to live through them. To keep her spirit alive. The same too left eye and to the others we have lost to soon. U all will never be forgotten.
"And...I am truly blessed. And I thank God for his blessings every single chance I get." That's important to do...see how Aaliyah is teaching us something? And what did she say we must do when facing disappointments or if we don't succeed? She said to "Try Again." And in the song "I Care 4 U" (beautiful song btw) what did she urge us all to do? "Press on, for me." And lastly, how did she tell us to move on the dance floor? In the words of Killer Mike on the Outkast track, "back, back, forth, forth." P.S. I'm always amazed at Aaliyah's brother. He shows such poise, grace, and a calm strength just like his sista. R.I.P Baby Girl you will never be forgotten...

At first I didn't get what he was saying bc you know you're not expecting to hear something like that. I'm like, what, Aaliyah who? Then I was like no way, and he was saying, "Its true, its true, just heard it on the radio." Immediately my mind went to my niece who at the time was a great fan of Aaliyah. As soon as I got home I call her Mom to give her the bad news but for some reason my niece didn't get the message til she read it in a newspaper or something. She took it so hard, poor thing. I was livid at her Mom for not getting the news to her in time. I didn't want her to find out from a paper. Anyways, miss you Babygirl. Rip💝
It was so unreal! I really was trying to not make it real but the more it was shown the more it became real! Still unreal!!
Alethea Ferrell Aww that smile. Did you see that smile? I swear AALIYAH and the late SELENA could light up the darkest dungeon with those smiles of theirs. Such sweet angels that left us too soon right along with Left Eye and all the rest. So many I couldn't list them all. Rip babygirl💝
I'm sure being up there and paying tribute to Aaliyah days after her passing was the most difficult thing Rashad, Missy, Timbaland and Ginuwine ever had to do. Janet is also a class act.
G White janet loved that girl... They were friends..they met through Missy.... Im sure it was hard on her as well..
Lmao 😂 right Janet was a mess knowing damn well ...
@@torturingsouls9635 What is this supposed to mean?
@@geekjanet I said what the fuck I said
@@torturingsouls9635 Janet always spoke very highly of Aaliyah...never said anything negative about her no one did...yeah you said what you said but it still don't make sense.
" and I thank God every chance i get " that just literally made me burst out to tears ! man aaliyah was SO humble ! God please rest her soul ! you are STILL missed babygirl. LOVE YOU
Aaliyah was a humble girl. Very kind hearted. She is missed.
and that smile at the end when she looked away from the camera made me teary. omg i miss her so much 💔 why so young...
@@kayla-qt9nb Exactly the same to myself 😭😭😭😭😭
ZaGirl loveHD
she will truly be missed 😔
😥OMG, YES, that one in a million dollar smile...... She was so genuine. She wasn't phony, conceded, stuck up, or arrogant. AALIYAH was so authentic, so beautiful, and she gave 110% love to her family, friends, extended music family, & her fans. She was SPECIAL..... God is she missed.......We LOVE U Liyah!🧚♀️
Aaliyah´s brother Rashad was soo cute and touching. Ginuwine,Missy Eliott and Timbaland are saying beautiful and touching words about lost Angel Aaliyah
Aaliyah was a beautiful soul and so incredibly talented. Losing her still hurts even today. I still keep playing her music. There will never be another artist like Aaliyah. She was truly One in a Million. R.I.P. Aaliyah!
aaliyah looked just like rashad
Latania Moore I disagree she looks more like her mom
Yep and baby girl had a photo of her grandmother
RIP AALIYAH 💜! The undisputed Princess of R&B👑
Janet did a better job honoring Aaliyah than Madonna did attempting to honor MJ at the VMA's. rip aaliyah
they both did great, stop it
+Crush Davis Madonna did a great job honoring MJ. Who was better to give a speech for the King of Pop than the Queen of Pop?
+kcdawg13 His sister 😂
Janet's was more sincere :)
kcdawg13 someone michael jackson didn't hate.
Shes just absolutely so beautiful.. one in a billion
A Zillion Billion
I remember that day, riding in the car with my parents, skimming through the local newspaper seeing the headline Aaliyah dies in plane crash. My heart sank, when I got home it was all over the news. One of the saddest day ever. Then 9/11 happened two weeks later. 😢
Week? I believe it was a little more that just 2
Who can dislike this. DRINK BLEACH

Rip baby girl. Still listen to your albums almost everyday. And thank you for jojo.
JoJo and Aaliyah are my faves
I am still haunted by what happened to her. I pray she didn't suffer in her last moments. She was a class act. NOBODY can ever match her unique talent.
She didn't wanna get on the plane, so she stayed behind in the vehicle they arrived in! Someone then came to check on her, gave her a sleeping pill, and then carried a sedated Aaliyah onto the plane! She had NO CLUE she was gonna meet the end
Destiny had a terrible set of cards for her. So devastating the way she passed and so young.
@@justrelax1539that didn’t happen
@@reannavaladez3290it sadly did
@@justrelax1539 the person that did that needs to go to jail....
RIP Aaliyah she passed away 20 days after my grandmother passed away on my mom side. Then 9/11 happened weeks later. 2001 wasn't a good year for me. Then my grandfather passed away on my dad side in December that year
🙏🏽
Every time I watch videos , listen to hear , see her my heart breaks! Her time wasn’t up!🙏🏽 I Miss You Aaliyah
this was beautiful and her smile at the end she was absolutely gorgeous
Aaliyah is still big
i hope shes singing again right now in heaven
There will never be another talent like Aaliyah. She is irreplaceable. Love you always doll. You are missed. xoxo
rip Aaliyah from one of your biggest fans who still plays your music everyday
Damn it, I cried AGAIN!! Still hurts 17 years later.
My aunt was a huge aaliyah fan. She died 4 months later. A week before chrimsas at 11.
She meant everything she said from the heart i can see it in her face.
Beautiful Darkness same here too. She died when I was 11, now I’m 22.
DAMN! Janet was looking beautiful here
Every time I watch Timbaland around this time, my heart aches for him. You can feel his pain. He was in love with that girl.
They sacrifice Aaliyah idk who was involved or why but God will give her vengeance
Exactly!!! She didn’t even know the plane was overloaded that’s how u know it was a set up! They didn’t even let that woman know !!!!!!! She could’ve been alive today
She was naturally beautiful...
Her, Selena, and Left Eye........ WHY?! WHY?! WHY?!
Her passing was just such a tragedy. I'm 21 years old, & I can't even imagine what it would be like if next year I died. That's just way too young.. :(
I just made a playlist for Aaliyah called More than a woman. It's 3:14:03 n I made in her always loving memory. It's a collection of music vids, interviews, behind the scenes looks, studio recordings n more. Please watch it. go to my profile n go to my playlists n you'll see it. It is a tribute to baby girl in case I can't film my Biographical movie of her like I planned. Please watch it if u have time. I want u all to know as a an I'm never going to disrespect baby girl in any way shape or form.

Aaliyah’s death crushed me, her music inspired me a lot I miss her style, music and her beauty… we love and miss you queen 👑❤️
Janet so upset that she couldn’t even finish 😰😰😰😰
Still hurts 💔
🕊Aaliyah blessed us with her music so we continue to listen #icareforyou
Thank you babygirl 💗
The way Aaliyah talked in her interviews always reminded me of the young Whitney Houston in the 80’s doing interviews. Very articulate and intelligent and soft spoken.
just hearing the pain in all their voices is heartbreaking and she is so missed
