Pikmin 3 is one of the rare cases where I actually want more padding. I loved the game, but the story just felt too short. I just wish they could squeeze a bit more out of each area, giving you a reason to return to places beyond just getting all of the fruit.
My main complaint about pikmin 3 is that its too linear compared to the first 2 games. (You unlock blues, beat 1 boss and then are technically ready to face the final boss but should spend maybe 1 or 2 days at each area cleaning up whatever you didn't get the first time around.) Otherwise its a great game, just less replayable because its very linear when the other games were all about having options for your strategies and unlocked blues relatively early in the progression.
@@jasonreed7522 I feel the same way. I enjoyed Pikmin 3 when I played it, but after beating it I felt no incentive to play it again, unlike with Pikmin and Pikmin 2.
It was just found out like a few days ago that there was a whole cut area to the game still in the files that was supposed to utilize the blues more! So, yeah, there _was_ supposed to be more padding. Shame it didn't get added to deluxe
probably because the entire Pikmin franchise has less than 7.5 million sales total, even if every single one of those was to a different person, adding up the sales from Pikmin 3 and Pikmin 3 deluxe gives about 3.31 million sales, this is likely a fairly good approximation of the fanbase's size (also as an added note Pikmin 3 has more sales than Pikmin 1 and 2 (the Wii releases included) combined). therefore if this video had 1 million views that'd almost a third of the total fanbase would've seen it, and despite me being a fairly dedicated fan of the series it's taken over a year and a half for this video to enter my recommended, so it's likely not turned up in the recommended of other fans either. I simply don't believe anyone that isn't already a fan of Pikmin is going to sit through an hour and a half video about which game in the trilogy is the best.
There's one thing about third ending that I love, at the end you see all the pikmin out enjoying sunshine lounging about when suddenly another crash happens in the distance and they all rush towards is seemingly excitedly. It feels like they can't wait for the 4th too.

Great video! My mom passed away last year to breast cancer and I've really been trying to tap in to my nostalgia in remembrance of her. I was 5 years old when Pikmin 1 came out and I remember seeing the commercial that presented the game in a nature documentary style... It was love at first sight and I begged my mom and dad to get it for me. I remember grinding through day after day, always trying to do a 0-death run, getting super frustrated at the "crushing" glitch, and raging at the Smoky Progg. Then, one day I got a Nintendo Power which had the wonderful claymation-style art from Pikmin 2 on the front and immediately tore through it to read about it... I can't tell you how many hours I put into Pikmin 2 as a kid and still try to boot it up semi-regularly. Hell, since there was a 9-year wait between 2 and 3, I would wake up and check all of the gaming sites I could about Pikmin news every single day. I was in high school when Pikmin 3 came out, and whilst there were a few things that slightly disappointed me about it (team purple and whites in story mode here), I knew it was a masterpiece in its own right. All 3 games are just beautiful and I can't wait for Pikmin 4 (any day now........), but 2 will always be my favorite; from playing 2-player battle with my little brother and best friends, to attempting to grow 9,999 Pikmin in a single campaign. Thanks for this video and you've gained a subscriber!

Sorry if this comment is a bit messy but I really don't know how to thank you for making such a wonderful video about my favorite franchise.
No it didn’t. It got worse. It was already way too easy and now it’s easier. Deluxe is barely a game anymore you literally will not lose that game, pikmin 3 was already babies first RTS but man deluxe doubled down hard on the easy mode nature.
@@MysteriousStranger50 with how piss easy base Pikmin 3 was it really doesn’t matter. The appeal to 3 is the great controls and experience of just playing the game. It’s the definitive Pikmin 3 experience and saying otherwise is just complaining
@@nutnut6161 The experience of playing the game is diminished a bit by enemies falling over when you so much as glance at them, though. They all have too little health. The days also really didn't need to made longer, not even the similarly easy Pikmin 4 opted to have absurd 18 minute days. The lack of wiimote controls hurts the experience as well, gyro aiming is just less reliable and precise than the wiimote's IR pointer.
I think its the fact that pikmin 3 was too short that makes pikmin 2 still be my favorite game so far despite its flaws... I really hope pikmin 4 can find a nice middle ground.
Considering the demo has hours worth of content to explore as different caves and areas are made avaliable depending on how quickly you complete the demo's mission, there is going to be a LOT of time spent in this game. I'm so excited for it.
Maaaaan, never before have I ever watched a nearly 2 hours long youtube video that was worth it. That has changed Congratulations for the great vid man
pikmin one is certainly my favorite as well, and i will NEVER fold on that, but i agree. i dont even particularly like pikmin 3, but it is downright gorgeous and has some changes that are both fresh and useful. keep up the amazing work chief.
Never played any of the games but I’ve found myself consistently watching various play throughs and speed runs across the franchise now is finally the time to get up and play through them, this video was a masterpiece in and of itself
I really enjoyed Pikmin 3. I only wihs there was more to it. it felt a little too easy and I beat it without much challenge. I wish they had more fruit treasures to collect and more caves. But I really had fun exploring the environments and solving puzzles to get to all of the fruit treasures. I hope there is a sequel that follows the idea of Pikmin 3 but adds the challenge and spice that pikmin 2 had. Basically, I wish the whole game was like Pikmin 3's challenge mode! I also thought pikmin 3 was the only game to effectively use the game pad, to the extent that I preferred playing with the game pad and feel like the switch port will be missing somethigg by because it can’t be controlled that way.
I dont normally comment but when I do its because of the realness of thenpassion i can feel you exude for something you love. Keep it up man, in everything you do in life.
I remember getting Pikmin 3 on a complete whim, and it has earned a place in my heart along with the likes of Kirby games, which I hold very close to my heart. I've never played Pikmin 1 but want to as I am currently playing through the second game and have beaten the third multiple times. The games are just so charming from musical, design, and story aspects that I found it hard not to fall in love with the adorable little plant creatures that exist in this game. As someone who has only really experienced the most recent game fully, I found this video very informative and nice with how you spoke on each game, stating your opinions but also adding in things from a more objective standpoint. Very awesome.
OH MY GOSH THIS IS AMAZING. I LOVE PIKMIN AND IT IS SOMETIMES HARD TO FIND VIDEOS LIKE THESE, It may not mean to much but I loved this video and it was amazing.
I played through Pikmin 1 loads of times, optimising strategy, improving all the time. I think I could do it in about 8 or 9 game days. I still have a Pikmin diorama in my front room, using little plastic Pikmin, onions, blowhogs and flowers. I also have cuddly Pikmin and a weird yellow Pikmin phone holder. I think it’s probably my favourite game ever.
Wow, what a great watch. I really appreciate this video, because it really helped me get to take a trip down memory lane with the first two games, and now I really want to go back and play them both again. I just got pikmin 3 deluxe for the switch, and I’ve gotta say you’re right in that it’s so well balanced and fun, especially with the new side stories mode which adds even more times missions to the game. While I personally love the sprawling expansiveness of pikmin 2 and tbh the caves happen to be my favorite part of that game (maybe going back and playing it they won’t be), I agree that pikmin 1 is so exciting and tense because of that short time limit. Honestly I hope that in pikmin 4 they bring back a bit more of a shorter time limit than in pikmin 3, but I also hope they would bring back the caves from pikmin 2 in some form. I think a good balance would be to have caves like they exist in pikmin 3, but inside those caves are “deep caves” which return to the style of dungeon like caves from pikmin 2. That way, there would be an added challenge to caves that players could embark on when they feel ready to enter a gauntlet, and it would make the caves more varied than they were in pikmin 3, and less daunting than they were in pikmin 2. Also I think that those potential “deep caves should not be saved before each sub level, but instead saved at the start and end of the deep cave. By combining the pikmin 3 caves with potentially shorter pikmin 2 caves, it would leave a good balance of being able to clear the easier areas of the cave, before risking it all delving deeper into the darker untuned parts of the caves. Nonetheless, great video PS: in pikmin 2 the challenge mode is also co-op, and can add a lot of fun to those levels
for such a small channel, you've already done an excellent job at earning my subscription. good on you man, pikmin is such an underrated franchise and deserves love like this from more fans and creators.
I really appreciate the influx of pikmin content coming into my feed. This is a whole section of UA-cam that I thought had died in like 2010, but it's just been evolving. Thanks for the content!
If you know what you're doing Pikmin 2 is super relaxing and easy. If you go in blind, with no resetting in caves or any idea of how Purple Pikmin work (what I did), Its a stressful nightmare!

At 54:19 right when you said that I didn't need the rest of the description to know it was Dream Den sublevel 10. Was stuck on it for months cuz I already didn't have that many blue pikmin going into it so it was either leaving the den completely and having to redo the den up to that point or restarting that level. Remembering that level still gives me chills. Also great video btw as a huge Pikmin fan I learned soooo many things I didn't know before.
I bought pikmin 3 in 2014 on wii u. I was amazed by how good it was. I thought I'd try this weird looking game out. I'm a completionist and I loved every bit of it. I've played it about 4 times. I just finished the main story in pikmin 4 100% I'm now working on platinum medals. I'm gonna get pikmin 1 and 2 on switch soon. And pikmin 3 deluxe as I didn't know it has new olimar story and more challenge missions. I wish more people could experience these games as they r super fun

Great job making this very long video I think it was great love the series keep up the good work spreading the love of these older easily forgotten games ❤️
Pikmin 2 is actually my favorite game in the entire series due to my personal preference when it comes to gameplay. I love the dungeons and how randomized and messy they are. That's one thing I like about this series, that there's different games for different styles of gameplay. - The rest of this is gonna be me going on a tangent about pikmin 4 so I kind of just shot this at the bottom of my comment because it's not as relevant to this video. Pikmin 4 felt like a sequel to pikmin 2, which was really interesting to me. As someone who played all the other pikmin games (including bloom and hey pikmin) any time I'd start, I'd think, "this is alright, but I wanna play pikmin 2 instead." 4 was... okay. It's like if you watered down what made pikmin 2 good and added new features. The new features, imo, just made it easier. I refused to buy a lot of the equipment and items because they felt like a cop out. The enemies didn't respawn into the main world, so it was "peaceful," by which I mean it was way too easy to navigate. It was actually kind of creepy, and not like the eerie feeling in darker areas of pikmin 1 and 2, which felt intentional. Pikmin 4 felt dead. It's like I killed off all the wildlife, just to make my own mission easier. The music also felt like an attempt at the weird style of music that worked so well in pikmin 2, but incredibly half assed and so quiet for some reason. Sorry if that's kinda harsh lmao That being said, I had fun. I have the same complaints as with pikmin 3 though. For me, the last 2 pikmin installments felt like they were just made to be easier for new players, but that doesn't leave as much for people who grew up playing the harder games. Nintendo does this too often lately, imo. In aiming for a younger audience, they leave the older audience behind. As a child, I'd love to play 3 and 4! I'm excited for the new generation of fans. I remember watching my big brother play because it was too hard for me, then inheriting the family gamecube as a teenager just to enjoy the gameplay myself. I just wish they'd add sort of a hard mode into pikmin 3 and 4, that's all. I don't mean challenge modes, I mean for the main game. Anyways, that's my rant. As much as I complained, this series as a whole is a masterpiece and the world building is INCREDIBLE.
46:39 Don't forget: "A few Bulbmin, poison, an Iridescent Glint Beetle, and a jillion bomb rocks!" (The purgatory that is Submerged Castle sublevel 4, arguably the most hated cave sublevel in the entire game)
Wow I've been playing the Pikmin games for a long while now and I never realized that the blue pikmin could lifeguard other pikmin out of the water like at 1:07:45 Also, this was an amazing video!
Great video, it definitely deserves a ton lot more of views. What's even better is that your wishes came true. Pikmin 3 is now on Switch with all the content of the WiiU version plus a new mode with Olimar and improvements. I wish they could make the quality of the frame rate better for the switch version, but it added multiple save files and a new level of difficulty. I love the Pikmin franchise since I played the first game on the Wii when I was 12. I remember returning from middle school, playing strategically, and having a feeling of adventure exploring the maps.
This was incredibly entertaining and well made. I have a deep love for the Pikmin series despite being a relatively new fan with Pikmin 3 being my first game. (then later getting Pikmin 2) This video reminded me why I like the games so much and I think it's about time I give Pikmin 2 another playthrough
This was a really excellent analysis! You do a really excellent job breaking down each game in the series. However, you definitely don't know what the word "objectively" means. Nonetheless, more longform game analysis on youtube is always fantastic, and you should keep up the good work.
How do you have so few subscribers! This video was so well made! He kept my attention the whole time and he has the voice and deliver of a man who can stop an angry mob! Well done, and a lovely video! Thank you sm for sharing.
Massive Pikmin fan here and I've replayed every game multiple times to the point where I make sure to replay each campaign at least once per year. I think this was an excellent deconstruction of each game and covered a broad range of experiences! I love to see content like this recommended to me. Whilst I dislike Pikmin 3 the most of the trilogy due to it's extremely linear structure and narrative based campaign, that leads replayability extremely shot - I understand this comes from the perspective of having played each game many many times - and I overall agree your average person would objectively enjoy the campaign that Pikmin 3 provides the most - as it is by far the most refined gameplay-world experience Pikmin has to offer. Thanks for the deep dive - was absolutely wonderful.
I wonder if the developers of the more recently announced Pikmin 4 has watched any part of this at all... That aside, this is a perfect analysis of the (as of posting) 3 Pikmin games. Great job!
A very well thought out video it made me reconsiser the whole franchise i still no nothing about hey pikmin then its apparently 2.5d and bad Tdlr one of the best most detailed and objective long form review things on youtube
I find it interesting, now that we have Pikmin 4, that this series started with basically no tutorial. Very much a "Figure it out" mentality. Because Pikmin 4 has a LOT of tutorial and dialogue.
Yea it’s honestly annoying I can’t lie n it sucks bc the game seems p fun and exploring is cool but the dialogue/story is all tell and no show at least so far for me I just got it
This video was very informative and I definitely agree with the vast majority of things you said. I'm frankly confused as to why you don't have more viewers and more specifically why this video doesn't have a lot of views. I'm now subbed because of this video and I'm greatly looking forward to more content you create. Keep up the great work and I hope you get more of a following very soon!
Thanks man, yeah its a slow burn but its picked up some steam, getting across to 500 people as of right now is still fine by me and it will only go up, thanks for the sub :D
Where'd you get the attack power values at 1:10:13 from? Winged Pikmin aren't stronger against flying enemies at all, and I don't mean to sound rude but I'm surprised someone went to the effort of coming up with fake attack power values to try and justify a vaguely-written loading screen hint, when it's easy to test in-game that Winged Pikmin do 5 damage against all enemies. In addition, the impact damage of Rock Pikmin is highly variable between enemies and isn't always 25, and there are a few other small differences in attack power values to the ones shown in the video.
"The sandbelching meerslug may be the least dangerous boss in pikmin 3" Has flashbacks of trying to beat him when I was in third grade and repeatedly losing my whole army
Pikmin 1 will always be my favorite, despite spending more time in 2 as a kid. IMO the timer is the glue that holds that game together, and so much of its design that carries over into the later games doesn't really wirk without it.
Pikmin 2 is my favorite but i love all of them, and now we have pikmin 4 confirmed to be on its way. (And just as pretty as 3 deluxe) Each game has its charms, pikmin 1 is basically intro to speedrunning and definitely benefits from the time pressure, its replayability is all about optimization and iterative improvement. (And i love its max length is ≈6.5hrs, a rare treat in contrast to the modern age of skinner boxes and multi hundred hr campaigns like AC Odessey) Pikmin 2 is a much more controlled return and is all about exploration and replayability through challenge and randomly generated caves, and has 2 fun multiplayer modes with coop challenge mode and competitive 2 player battle (so much fun throwing bomb rocks at your siblings). And pikmin 3 is extremely pretty and polished and has difficulty levels and coop campaign (Ultra spicy 2player was interesting, 60 cap split in two means 30 pikmin per player, definitely changes how you play), and the mission modes are fun in 2player mode as well.
Really enjoyable video. I personally have a preference for Pikmin 2, but you made excellent points. I wish 3 had had caves and that the main story line wasn't so boring in a way? After a while, it was just like okay I am searching for Olimar and I guess collecting fruit. The fruit thing was such a downgrade from Pikmin 2 where you get to collect all these cool and unique items.
Poor olimar… he comes back from an alien planet to only not get to see his family and have to go back to this planet… bonus pity points for his boss selling his ship and his souvenir for his son.
The only Pikmin I've ever played is the 4 demo, but even I know this is a wonderfully put together and criminally underrated analysis. I hope at some point more people find this! (I was probably recommended this from watching Altrive's Among Us videos where his name in-game is "Pikmin 4".)
"PIkmin 2 took the pikmin formula-" what formula. There were only 2 games at this point. There was no formula. This is like saying Zelda 2 didn't follow the Zelda Formula. There was no formula to follow at that point.
Nice in-depth video on one of my all time favorite franchises! Despite dissagreeing with almost half of the video it all comes down to different playstyles and it is frankly amazing that this game series can captivate all spectrum of players with its unique gameplay.
Personally all the things you noted as problems for pikmin 2 I love about it. I LOVE having a lot to do and tackling it one by one. I was sad when I beat pikmin 3 so fast because then I just didn't have much else to do beyond challenge mode which was too hard... Thankfully the switch version had a side chapter with Olimar and Louie. Just like old times. Though. I might give it another shot. I still love ALL 3 games.
Pikmin was the first game I watched a Let's Play of, and the only nintendo series I hadn't played for almost 2 decades. It is by far my favorite game IP of all time, having finally emulated pikmin, buying pikmin 2, and the switch port of Pikmin 3. I was with everyone in excitement when Pikmin 4 was officially announced
The issues you list in Pikmin 1 is the reason they need to remaster it for the switch because it’s so old and was the first attempt of the game and 2 improves series massively
Pikmin 1 is my favorite and nothing will ever change that. Its rough around the edges, but it has that special charm that only gamecube games seem to have. I'd love to see a remake someday, and I know we are all anxiously awaiting Pikmin 4's release in the next few months
this fulfils my incredibly niche desire for multi-hour analyses of the entire pikmin franchise, excellent work

Thanks for this video and you've gained a subscriber!
wow such a sweet story. I'm sorry to hear about your mother. Stay strong, and thanks for sharing :)
Soon we will be able to experience pikmin 4, condolences for your mother
This was such an incredibly experienced look at these games! Great stuff, bro!
Such love anorey hope you're well bro :D

These are the types of gems you want to find on youtube. You rarely come across long yet enjoyable videos like this, but when you do, you're sure to have an amazing next 2 hours. I love you for making this video. Thanks a lot! Lots of respect! I hope to see more videos like this from you in the future. Sorry if this comment is a bit messy but I really don't know how to thank you for making such a wonderful video about my favorite franchise.
You definitely should make more content like this-
I'd love to do more things like this!
This video was truly outstanding, you have earned my subscription HeffTV, keep up the great work
Pikmin 3 only got better with the port too. I love the game so much more with the better controls and other improvements made
No it didn’t.
Yes! I can’t wait for pikmin on switch it comes out right after my birthday
Here's happy early birthday wishes :D
Thankyou! It’s tomorrow!
Maaaaan, never before have I ever watched a nearly 2 hours long youtube video that was worth it. That has changed
Congratulations for the great vid man
This was the push I needed to dive into the world of Pikmin for the first time! Thanks! IT WAS SOOO GOOOD
"hopefully pikmin 3 can come out in some capacity for the switch"
*and we added stuff*
"or maybe we can get pikmin 4"
*as you wish*
pikmin one is certainly my favorite as well, and i will NEVER fold on that, but i agree. i dont even particularly like pikmin 3, but it is downright gorgeous and has some changes that are both fresh and useful. keep up the amazing work chief.
Someone who understands that favorite=\= best :D
Nonetheless, great video
PS: in pikmin 2 the challenge mode is also co-op, and can add a lot of fun to those levels
for such a small channel, you've already done an excellent job at earning my subscription. good on you man, pikmin is such an underrated franchise and deserves love like this from more fans and creators.
Omg I love looong videos, love it even more if it talks about pikmin
Glad you enjoyed :D
But the youtube algorythm hates it.

This video is amazing and I am now subscribed.
Definitely! Pikmin 2 has by far the largest difficulty curve
even if I know what I'm doing I still find it a stress filled expirience.
October 30th is gonna be a great day for the Pikmin fandom.
This is by far the best analysis I’ve ever watched on this series. Very in-depth and amazingly presented. Thank you for sharing your love of these games with us
You spent more than an hour explaining in such an entertaining way. How doesn't this have more VIEWS!!!!
This salvaged my 20-minute commute to work over the course of this week
I bought pikmin 3 in 2014 on wii u. I was amazed by how good it was. I thought I'd try this weird looking game out. I'm a completionist and I loved every bit of it. I've played it about 4 times. I just finished the main story in pikmin 4 100% I'm now working on platinum medals. I'm gonna get pikmin 1 and 2 on switch soon. And pikmin 3 deluxe as I didn't know it has new olimar story and more challenge missions. I wish more people could experience these games as they r super fun
did i just really watch 1 hour and 40 minutes of a pikmin analysis? holy shit.
nice video btw.
I love that most of the issues you had with Pikmin 3 were resolved in the Switch port lmao
I really enjoyed watching this! Having such quality content come from such a small UA-camr is incredible! Thank you for taking the time to make this, I can't express how happy I am I found this :D
Glad you enjoyed!
Great job making this very long video I think it was great love the series keep up the good work spreading the love of these older easily forgotten games ❤️
I’m commenting both because this is a really good video and to help you with the algorithm! (But seriously, this video is really well done)
All hail the algorithm *bows* (glad you enjoyed the vid)
I feel like pikmin 2 is great adventure game, rather than a survival rts
Pikmin 2 is actually my favorite game in the entire series due to my personal preference when it comes to gameplay. I love the dungeons and how randomized and messy they are. That's one thing I like about this series, that there's different games for different styles of gameplay.

The rest of this is gonna be me going on a tangent about pikmin 4 so I kind of just shot this at the bottom of my comment because it's not as relevant to this video.
Pikmin 4 felt like a sequel to pikmin 2, which was really interesting to me. As someone who played all the other pikmin games (including bloom and hey pikmin) any time I'd start, I'd think, "this is alright, but I wanna play pikmin 2 instead."
4 was...
Sorry if that's kinda harsh lmao
That being said, I had fun.
9:00 Sigma rule number 404:

Pikmillionare grindset
him "pikmin 3 has the least climactic ending in the franchise" :leaves out the most important part:
46:39 Don't forget: "A few Bulbmin, poison, an Iridescent Glint Beetle, and a jillion bomb rocks!" (The purgatory that is Submerged Castle sublevel 4, arguably the most hated cave sublevel in the entire game)
Outstanding analysis. One of my favourite game series beautifully explained. Thank you.
Wow I've been playing the Pikmin games for a long while now and I never realized that the blue pikmin could lifeguard other pikmin out of the water like at 1:07:45 Also, this was an amazing video!
Unfortunately this isnt applicable to pikmin 3
You've inspired me to give Pikmin 1 another chance.
Why? Did you get the bad ending?
@@redpikmin017 I only really played it as a child and was too intimidated by the difficulty. I have since this comment replayed it and beat it.
hey man, great video, very insightful, excellent editing too
Great video, it definitely deserves a ton lot more of views.
Heck yeah dude, I got Pikmin 3 Deluxe in Ultra Spicy streamed on this channel!
This was beautifully created. Thank you so much for the effort you put into such a great video
*I love this video it made me wanna play Pikmin 1 and 2*
*And Pikmin 4 should have every Pikmin in story mode*
Do remember that there is a 100 pikmin cap. Having more than 5 pikmin types available would be to the detriment of pik in type balancing, I'd say
We might have All pikmin types
This was incredibly entertaining and well made. I have a deep love for the Pikmin series despite being a relatively new fan with Pikmin 3 being my first game. (then later getting Pikmin 2) This video reminded me why I like the games so much and I think it's about time I give Pikmin 2 another playthrough
1:58 Day 13 when you face the first Burrowing Snagret
*Sees my game at Day 30 at this point* Shit, I hope there isn’t a *maximum* day limit...
:D
Never played the first two but grew up watching my brother playing them, playing 3 as an adult now is such a wave of nostalgia
Dude this video deserves more everything great work
Glad you liked it!
Great job!
The fact I can remember Dream Den sub level 10 is astonishing considering I already have horrible enough memory
A very well thought out video it made me reconsiser the whole franchise i still no nothing about hey pikmin then its apparently 2.5d and bad
Tdlr one of the best most detailed and objective long form review things on youtube
Thanks for that!
"The sandbelching meerslug may be the least dangerous boss in pikmin 3"
Has flashbacks of trying to beat him when I was in third grade and repeatedly losing my whole army
Pikmin 1 will always be my favorite, despite spending more time in 2 as a kid. IMO the timer is the glue that holds that game together, and so much of its design that carries over into the later games doesn't really wirk without it.
wrong
Pikmin 2 is my favorite but i love all of them, and now we have pikmin 4 confirmed to be on its way. (And just as pretty as 3 deluxe)
Each game has its charms, pikmin 1 is basically intro to speedrunning and definitely benefits from the time pressure, its replayability is all about optimization and iterative improvement. (And i love its max length is ≈6.5hrs, a rare treat in contrast to the modern age of skinner boxes and multi hundred hr campaigns like AC Odessey)
Pikmin 2 is a much more controlled return and is all about exploration and replayability through challenge and randomly generated caves, and has 2 fun multiplayer modes with coop challenge mode and competitive 2 player battle (so much fun throwing bomb rocks at your siblings).
And pikmin 3 is extremely pretty and polished and has difficulty levels and coop campaign (Ultra spicy 2player was interesting, 60 cap split in two means 30 pikmin per player, definitely changes how you play), and the mission modes are fun in 2player mode as well.
287 subscribers? make that 288, you deserve way more than you get man!
Amazing analysis! You hit the right marks on each game and I fully agree with all your conclusions and points.
I’m gonna have to figure out how to go through and break it down by section! Thank you!
Well, I like it.
Definitely agree that the collectibles in Pikmin 2 are far and away the best of all three games lol
Poor olimar… he comes back from an alien planet to only not get to see his family and have to go back to this planet… bonus pity points for his boss selling his ship and his souvenir for his son.
Winged Pikmin Always do 5 damage, they don’t have a damage increase against flying enemies
Really great video, don't normally comment but I want the algorithm to pick this up because it seriously deserves more attention!
The dislikes are from Hey pikmin fans
coming back to this 2 1/2 years later with Pikmin 3 on the Switch and Pikmin 4 on the way is insane
This video came out like right before they announced Pikmin 3 deluxe. And now we even have Pikmin 4 announced for this year!
1:02:27
I like the C-Stick bugle sound..
Since that's how armies would give commands in old days too.. Was a nice little reference
Something about this being a great video that deserves more views, yadda yadda.
Something about me appreciating your support and time, yada yada
So, we got pikmin 3 deluxe and now we're getting pikmin 4...
The only Pikmin I've ever played is the 4 demo, but even I know this is a wonderfully put together and criminally underrated analysis. I hope at some point more people find this!
(I was probably recommended this from watching Altrive's Among Us videos where his name in-game is "Pikmin 4".)
"PIkmin 2 took the pikmin formula-"
what formula.
1:34:32 Actually you can do Pikmin 2's Challenge mode Co-Op as well, so its not new here
Personally all the things you noted as problems for pikmin 2 I love about it.
Bingo Battle is GOOD? Okay well I know what I'm doing today
"When I cheese this boss or abuse this mechanic, the game isn't fun. So clearly the mechanic is poorly desinged"
Pikmin 1 is my favorite and nothing will ever change that. Its rough around the edges, but it has that special charm that only gamecube games seem to have. I'd love to see a remake someday, and I know we are all anxiously awaiting Pikmin 4's release in the next few months
