Yo CGB, don't be afraid to give us a sequel to some of these sweet decks. I'd love to see a second video on this.
I second this
i third this
Definitely. This deck is AWESOME
I fourth this.
Haywire mite works pretty well in here since it’s a permanent, a turn 1 blocker that sacrifices itself, and it can get rid of leylines on turn 2 if you don’t die by then
What would you take out of cgbs deck for haywire mite?
@@davidsantiago7808 Its hard for this deck, but automatically the Leyline can be removed. You can also drop a single Jace and it would still keep working. You could potentially take out a "Wall of the Forgotten" and there you have a space for 3 Mites which would be enough for the deck to keep working.
@@digitalk1llraymon448 Why can't my Wall of the Forgotten block against mono-red :
I beat the whole mono red meta by just not playing standard.
This. Unironically.
Legend.
fortunately, i haven't seen it in timeless yet
"Whats the safest way to have sex? Don't have sex. What's the safest way to ski? Don't ski".... abstinence is for the weak 😂
I jk, mono red sucks. Especially in this Standard
@@joewashburn6057 as someone who just downloaded and saw it popping off: I used to my first wilds to build a version of it. Played around 10 games, won most, and came to this conclusion:
“Wow, this is boring and not why I play magic.” I either won right away or didn’t and had to play a stall game where I eventually (usually) lost. It felt like one-sided match either way
I’ve started building a Bant token deck instead and having a LOT more fun, despite it not being a “meta” deck, but I’m hoping with my next saving my wilds I can bump it up, maybe just Selesnya tokens
You know it is always going to be a good time when CGB plays some Sultai!
46:00 your deck is so good I just want to beat you over the head with it! 😂😂😂
This is fine, 12 slots taking up space to combat monored. This is perfectly fine. The meta is fine.
Honestly I see far more discard at higher ranks
@@dmacpher Too True, I maybe fight a Heartfire Aggro deck maybe 2-3 out of 10 games in Diamond Ranks and the rest are all Lilliana discard decks/Jace decks
I mean cut down and flood maw are just normal cards
I'm just over here on team mono white
You should already be using 7-12 slots for interaction to begin with and nearly all of them are good enough for most other aggro decks in the format. Welcome to how playing in an aggressive meta works, kiddo.
cgb is never again allowed to complain about bad draws after ripping that terror tide
CGB loves maindecking Leyline of the Void so much that he makes graveyard decks running it so that its an even better meta call when he faces his own decks.
what a sweet little deck! Pleasure to watch - keep'em comming!
This whole deck is my favorite stuff. I’m a just a fan of huge yards in general, and I get to steal the opponents deck too! It’s a win win.
I started playing MTGA this expansion, I love golgari and found that it is very fun with valgavoth, say it's name and the interaction between valgavoths acolyte and the black impending overlord guy, and also running 12 cheap removal spells to deal with the awful red decks
I also found I could craft a fully powered deck with a little playing and now I'm just saving up, as a new player it doesn't feel too bad, considering I got a cool deck to climb up the ladder with already
I’m a lover of Squirming Emergence decks too, can’t wait til we get Omniscience 😈
Me: "This deck looks fun... let's see about importing it into Arena"
Arena: "You are short 2 common wildcards, 9 uncommon wildcards, 24 rare wildcards, and 7 mythic wildcards"
The woes of being a new player xD
Not being able to craft a new non budget deck after 2 months of daily play is insane. I swear I’m this close to uninstalling out of pure wildcard starvation. Let’s see how well their business model works after their greed forces a potential buyer that really liked the game out
"New player"
I've had Arena since it came out, and I've made a total of like 6 actual decks in that time. Only 2 of those decks work anywhere close to well, and only 1 is legal in anything other than historic. The Arena economy is probably the worst game economy I've experienced.
I found the economy not as bad as people say, I started playing this month and I managed to make myself a full deck and am now just saving up, drafts are really fun and really worth, at least for the amount of wins I'm getting, so I'd say first month, if you know exactly what you want and somewhat what you're doing, the game is great in pretty much every sense, except lands being a thing, fuck lands and of course fuck the whole color red being such an atrocity of design, red is the one thing that makes me close the game even tho I win most games against mono red
For reference I'm playing a reanimator golgari deck with 2 Lili, 4 overlord and 3 valgavoths as the mythics, the rest of the deck is like 8 rares and commons/uncommons
@@SerechII I guess being talented at draft helps… me being completely new to magic until 2 months ago means every draft has been a net loss
@@SerechII I think part of my "problem" is that my last online TCG was Legends of Runeterra, where they hand out wildcards like candy on Halloween.
I haven't really played any Draft yet... Not sure if I'd have the time. I usually only have enough to jam a game of 2 of standard at a time since I'm usually either playing on break at work or after work while watching my 2 kids.
For now, I'm playing a "budget" mono white control deck with my mythics being 2 copies of 4 mana elspeth, 2 copies of the 6 mana samurai Planeswalker, and 2 Beza that I pulled from Bloomburrow packs. Then just whatever board wipes and single target removal I had pulled and/or are commons. Deck is fun for sure, but I'd like to have a bit of variety in what I can play... My ADHD ass can't sit playing the same deck over and over xD Again, I was spoiled by LoR where you could basically craft a new deck every week.
That moment, you know which one, that was Terror and Crazy
this deck is suuuuuper cool. I'd love to see another video of this. adds to the enjoyment when you're having such a damn good time too haha
I've been running a version of this deck for a few weeks now, it was the first deck I crafted in after Duskmourn came out. It has some vulnerabilities, it can be a bit slow sometimes, but when you manage to do your thing, it's so much fun.
this gives me some real 2010s energy. i played a grixis control deck based on milling yourself and snap caster mage to get the answers you need, and the old tasigur sultai decks of standard and even delve creeping into modern for a second.
What a swing! 39:34
That's how my opponents always draw 🤣
What a miracle! :O
Glad to see you enjoying yourself again, my dude. Give old Blue/Black Poison a try again, you'll be surprised how well it stands up today!
Lack of interactivity will always make poison be broken, idk what’s surprising about it
17:15 I believe it should not have necessarily exiled with Leyline, however, because it is a replacement effect that takes action on opponents library, the opponent chooses which replacement comes first, being most likely the outcome we saw. But funny rules interaction that is not contemplated in arena (unless you enable it).
Pretty sure it's based on timestamp of which effect came onto the battlefield first.
@@Aradalf No, the opponent gets to choose.
Genuinely laughed out loud when the layline of the void came down in game 2 😂
I've been running a similar concept around Invasion of Amonkhet, Bringer of the Last Gift, and The Tale of Tamiyo/Render Inert. Mill cards until you get your win cons in graveyard (Bringer of Last Gift, Valgavoth, etc), Render Inert to proc Invasion of Amonkhet to copy Bringer of the Last Gift from your graveyard, wipes the board and revives all creatures from all graveyards not wiped this way. Definitely punishable outside of Bo1 but fun nonetheless.
I'mma need any list that involves Invasion of Amonkhet
Bringer of the Last Gift only triggers if you cast it.
@@SerbiusHokage You aren't casting Bringer of the Last Gift, you are casting a copy of it. Which is why when it brings back the original Bringer of the Last Gift, it doesn't sac your battlefield a second time. The rules are weird with it but you can look it up.
@@OremmGames My current list but I'm a week behind on updating it for the current meta. I'd prob add in more removal like Insidious Fungus and Into the Floodmaw, could add more heavy hitters like Atraxa but I like what the list has already.

This deck is so cool!! Cerebral and you pilot it in such a fun way
Is this like a *Joe Hendry* deck? “Say his name, and he appears. I believe in Joe Hendry!”
That terror tide rip was so satisfying
Things were so tame back in Kaldheim, the ember cleaver is a childs toy now
Bruh - evil arc without the sunglasses!! 🥲🙏👑
Always happy to see CGB excited about a deck he made
...He didn't make this deck.
@@Aradalf 3:05 "I'm only running one of each. I actually found it worked fine and it made more room for the interaction that gave me the time to do the thing."
He removed 2 copies of one card wow!!! Totally makes it his own deck
@@Aradalf Yeah. Just like writing your name on something makes it yours. This is 2nd grade stuff, catch up
this has go to be the strongest deck in standard. SO MANY CONCEDES!!!!
So fun to see you having a good time after so much suffering! 😅
Ooh, I already have all the cards for this. Time to reanimate things. :)
Thanks CGB!
I always like to see a "reanimator" deck that CGB enjoys. I know he tended to hate all the Atraxa decks running around in the last Standard.
I will never get over the valgavoth jace combo it's so fun.
19:50 for a second I thought you’d gone so crazy you wanted to play his entire deck and die in the process… 😂
That Terror Tide rip was awesom!
CGB. CGB. CGB!
...
Well no handsome bo1 player showed up at my place, so the summoning spell failed.
Re: Valgavoth vs Gremlin Wrangler, no. Both abilities would have triggered by the enchantment entering the battlefield, they'd be put in the stack in the order of the opponent's choice. Targets are chosen at this time and THAT is what triggers ward, so the new token isn't around to be sacrificed.
i think as ive grown as a person and a player, sultai has become my favorite 3 color combo.
If you add Rakdos Joins Up, you only need 5 permanents in GY instead of the 7-9. Also can damage opponent if they target your legendary creature
Huh. I’ve never played Layline in graveyard decks because I thought it hit both players. This changes everything
CGB you should try UW enchantments with entity tracker and builders talent, every enchant draws a card and puts a +1/+1
Ripping that Terror Tide was crazy
32:16
So long, and thanks for all the fish
Single leylines, definitely consistent and stable deck created not for a few content games
Those lucky Terror Tide hits!!!
I've been debating about crafting this deck. Heard it struggles against aggro in bo1 and the cards to craft don't tend to work in many other decks. What are your thoughts?
just cut out the games against red
You need to hard mulligan against aggro and the way you play is odd.
About cards not going in other decks, the mythics it depends on you liking Jace decks or not.
A lot of the other cards here are very common for mill or reanimate strategies
Mine is doing well. I run a lot of enchantment removal because of the meta.
Mesmoric orb isn’t bad, u can have unlimited copies of it as well
Decks like this is why keep 3 untapped for kutzils flanker
Cool decklist but you need tear asunder for some matchups
i'd love another hour of this deck. this looks so sweet. i ordered the deck to flick through it at the lgs standard showdown.
Don't forget a sideboard!
Could you order which replacement effect takes first? Between Leyline and Valgavoth?
No. The player who orders the replacement effects is the affected object's controller (or owner if it has no controller) or the affected player.
The objects affected by both Valgavoth and Leyline of the Void are cards owned by your opponent, so your opponent gets to order them.
any input on those toxin counter decks? they are very annoying imo
This is one of my new favorites.
The board wipes really just fix everything huh
This deck needs some way to discard from hand. I have been stuck with an uncastable atraxa in hand half of my games.
THIS DECK IS DIABOLICAL 😱
I played a turn 2 say its name in draft and ended up milling two more for a 9/9 trampler last week
If you werent forced to run so much removal the black overlord is AMAZING in this deck I watched crokeyz own with it
I've been running a golgari reanimator with 4 overlord and the interaction with it and valgavoths faithful is nice
Self mill for 3, draw the Terror Tide... Never didn't have it
the deck is fun but most of my big creatures immediately die to 2 mana removal spells or lilianas.
YES more reanimator!
I like you deck. I think I WILL TAKE IT
Grrr... I hate coming late and realizing I just lost to CGB most recent deck lol
12:00 no, sagas get sacrificed once they have no active triggers on the stack and are on the final chapter.
I was surprised he didn’t know that
Well then the answer is “yes”, he gets it back in his hand
The casting of the copy is part of the resolution of the Chapter 3 trigger. The copied spell finishes resolving first, then the Chapter ability leaves the stack
@@MuhahahahazThe *casting* of the spell happens during the resolution of the trigger, but the spell still has to resolve. As you can see from the video, the saga sacs itself before the spell resolves.
Let's turn on the juice and see what shakes loose
I played against a version of this that runs doomsday excruciator as well and it's very unfun
Watch him have a hella long brick streak against all except mono red the next day. Just because wotc doesnt like when Monored favoritism backfires on them
i play a 240/250 golgari conjure/draft/reanimate/mill+self mill and running only one of a card works out in my favor more often than not.
I think this deck is interesting, but losing to a single Lilliana of The Veil is ridiculous.
This was a treat 😊
This has absolutely nothing to do with the video, but hot take: Sheltered by Ghosts is pushed, busted, and a possible ban target.
When the guy discarded the bat he had to be thinking, "this guy's playing absolute fucking jank. Not even worth it."
Mertz Burg
Im a simple person, i see sultai, i click
That’s funny. You’re using bad grammar like a simple person who likes simple things 😂 hahah classic. God Bless. Thanks for the laugh
I love you CGB
Really nice deck! Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Location done... you never gonna read this but ask for it Ka-Kau!!!
Altanak is the first card in a very long time that made me interested in Standard.
This deck lost 5 out of 6 games for me sofar : all 6 opponents of them of course were graveyard attacking decks - because the matchmaker just works that way. Problem with just 4 win cons in the deck is that they never show up in time - despite desperate milling, and then a simple urborg scavenger will unravel the whole strategy. In the rare occasion when they do, they get easily disposed (...if you managed to survive that long). The only deck I beat was a poor green black deck with some undefined strategy, where I decided to Jace on them instead of me and just got lucky...
As a follow up - just doubling the number of big bad creatures in the deck and removing a flood maw, wail, jace & cut down seems to work a lot better - at the expense of possibly losing a bit more often to mono-red - but now the deck is indeed fun to play!
Terror tide topdeck was INSANE!
Do you think it's worth including one or two ways to add white mana in case atraxa gets stranded in your hand?
My mono blue control mill deck will eat this deck for lunch.
Naw it wouldn’t, it would turn in a turn 3 9/9
its the 9th of the month. I just hit Mythic playing only Historic. I am running an all in red deck with leyline. 12 scamp effects, 14 pumps 4 slickshot and 8 thud effects. with the leyline and 18 land the deck has an insane chance of making a turn 2 kill, and still a decent amount of turn 3 wins. I never play more than my 15 wins in a day. red leyline is broken and should not have been printed....
Cool story
@@mruntouchable187 I found it interesting too
Say its name is the most Yu-Gi-Oh card I've seen in MTG, recently at least.
cant he use his Fox Jace in Arena`?
I've played against this with Simic Crab and the Leyline totally shut me down. So it's more than just mono-red hate.
what about beanstalk domain (overlord) is it still viable?
Every time I see Deep-Cavern Bat come out, I am always just THIS close to conceding right there. Bc even if I win the match, it’s just not fun and I feel like I’m crawling out of the depths of hell trying to do the minimal to win against any of the 3 deck types that run it
This deck is gas
This is so depressingly like YuGiOh now... sudden OTKs the only way to win is to stop the other person from having fun... man i left YGO to escape this...
Mesa falcon sound will be missed.
Necromancer and a Necropantser
Wolf Burg
Can we have historic brawl 🥺🥺
Having only just got into the digital version, what on earth is this meta? Lol
Why'd you full alt jace against the lili deck? You couldve been bouncing jace and recasts ng with all the mana from lumra. 100% missed lethal
With all the nutso stuff going on in this video I thought I was watching Legacy game play.
Its bad that almost any deck you build anymore you have to build it loaded down with ways to hard-counter it
As a midrange player, watching a blue player overcome his aggro-induced grief by doing a bunch of oppressive nonsense gives me very mixed feelings.
Wish I had that many wild cards to have fun in this pay2win shit game XD
It’s quite possible to be f2p if you can win games
@@honestabe411 I didn't say it was not possible, but its not fun as its very limiting and boring and takes a lot more time
@@honestabe411 i played fairly consistently for 3 consecutive sets recently. Finished dailies, did drafts, etc. Also had the set mastery pass.
I would say I had enough to keep up a couple themes with 2 colors maximum. I mostly played monoblack.
The original post is extremely accurate.
@@mufasafalldown8401 The economy used to be better, so yes it was easier to be f2p if you started in 2018 , naturally 😬
@@mcmarkmarkson7115 it’s frustrating if you can’t win games, sure
