We have used the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!
I love your videos. So practical, helpful. I appreciate how you show that the most expensive and sometimes the most popular overlanding equipment is not necessary. Keep it up
Thanks for posting this. I just bought a 53 quart Stakol fridge for camping and wanted something to run it over night. The 250 looks perfect for this. Thank you.
Great channel, love the explanation of what the systems can do and what it can't do...... Love from South Africa
This is one of the most informative reviews of any product I have seen. A job very well done. Thank you.
Comprehensive, chock full of details, and use case ideas ... great review.
Thanks for the great review. I wish I would have found this before I purchased the 500, but still really happy with it. Appreciate all the information you provided too, saves me some research time too. Just completed a 2006 Tundra platform bed with drawer set-up. This really sounds versatile. Planning mostly weekender overlanding to start. Liked and Subscribed.
This is the best review I've watched on both Jackery models...thanks. I just ordered the 240 as I don't have any "heavy" equipment to operate just simple stuff like fans and Luminoodle lights. If I decide to buy a portable fridge like a Dometic I will invest in a 500 or even the 1000 model.
I love that you covered all the basis...looking for my daughter who loves to camp
Came across the Jackery 240 and then came straight here, great review bud. Pity Amazon don't ship to UK. Will try talking with the main dealer. Thanks again bud.
Thanks for mentioning how this product performs with a CPAP machine. These are becoming more and more commonplace.
Awesome review, well articulated for novices, brilliant.
Very good practical demonstration of its abilities. I appreciate it so much.
Thank you for clearing my doubts about the CPAP
Great video. Liked test of fan, blanket and dryer. Ty
That was very well done, thank you! I am now a fan of your channel and look forward to more!
legit the best video , gets straight to the point and tries so many things .. ayy lets go
Love the explanation and demo of the use cases of these batteries. Thank you so much for sharing
At last a Chanel that shows a full range of appliances 👍
Great review. I appreciate the detail in trying the battery with various appliances. 👍🏾
Thanks man, best video so far on this subject.
Great explanation of what I need it!!! Thank you
Your review was great and so informative and helpful. Thank you so much!!!
This is the best reviews of the jackery that I have seen. I bought two of the jackery 240s. I have a real small Alpicpol 12 refrigerator freezer 12 volt. I ran it with room ambient temperature at 68 I ran the small fridge for 25 hours. I bought the 60 watt solar panel also. I enjoy camping off grid in a Kodiak tent. I can run the fridge all day and charge the other jackery 240 and run the fridge again the next day while charging the other 240. I also run a couple of fans and a couple of 5 watt USB light bulbs for reading and to light up the campsite. That's why I don't have to carry any fuel in my small car when I go camping.
Love the way you have thought threw your needs and resolved the preceived short comings of these excellent battery packs👍 kind regards from across the pond in deepest Dorset 👍
@@clivenewton7609 thank you from across the pond. I love camping back in the Smoky Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest in the state of Tennessee where I live. I prefer tent camping with my dog off-grid. I am a 71 year old Going on 30 cancer survivor. I guess some would say I am an introvert. I dislike crowded campgrounds and lots of noise I have at times this summer on cooler weeks spent three weeks totally alone without seeing another human in some of the places I camp.
Thank you so much. The actual review I have been searching for. Keep it up and you have a new subscriber.
I just got the 240..luckily I have short hair and don’t use a dryer! Thanks😀
Wonderful review. We love these little gensets
Thank you for showing if it can run real items.
Very thorough review, thanks!
What a great review !
This was an awesome review!! Thanks so much!!
Love this review, thanks 👍
Amazing explanation thank you
Good video, i like the side by side comparison
Great review !
This is exactly the side by side comparison I was looking for, the items you tested. Thank you! -I also wanted to know how much they weigh. We have the 1500 and it’s heavy! It will have a “permanent” place of its own in the van we’re building but I want a smaller one easier to grab and move around. I’m inclined to get the 500 but at 12 inches I assume it’s got quite a bit more weight to it? I saw they have a 300. Wondering the difference between it and the 240. I have 9 days to figure this out.
Thanks for this video, it was great!
I suppose I shouldn’t underestimate the 1500 and just get the 240... the 1500 was purchased for the house when the power went out. We’ve never had to use it for that so far. The van is just an econoline. Main items will be lights, fan, fridge, a diesel heater and charging things. Maybe a hairdryer on occasion.
Very helpful! Thank you.
Very well explained 👍👍👍
Thank you for the full disclosure. Seems Jackery sent these units out left and right to many UA-camrs but many channels didn't reveal the "free" factor for their "reviews" and many of those reviewers never even gave any performance information.
Yeah the 500 was sent to me, but I bought the 240. For what it's worth, I do genuinely like the product, which is why I was happy to do this review!
I can see why the commentator is named Mr Winger😂 get over yourself, do your own research and use that with this video’s excellent information and make your own decision 🤬 regards from deepest Dorset 🇬🇧🇺🇸
I went with the Rockpals 100w solar panel, for my Jackery 500... Its slightly tougher/better built and more portable. They both work very well together! Love having a reliable source foir my travel bidet!
Just picked up a Jackery 240. Amazon has a good deal on them for $160 right now. Excited to try one out and possibly get a solar panel in the future
THX, really useful.
Nice video, thanks for sharing ✌
Been looking at the smaller of the two, but i think you've sold me on the 500 with the smaller panel!
Nice! The extra capacity and faster charge time (on 110v) is definitely useful.
I but the bullet and just purchased the 1000 with the two 100W panels…this review just caused me to buy more stuff. LOL! 😆
Nice video. Simple, clear and to the point 👍 and trying out all these accessories gives a good perspective on what works and what doesn’t... thank you ! Now, what about a coffee machine 😉
I don't have a coffee machine to test! I doubt they'll work though. Anything that heats rapidly, like the toaster and kettle, tends to have too high of a power draw!
Ahhh ... ok ... just like the angle grinder on the 240. well, I’ll keep using my propane stove for coffee 😉 How long does it take to charge (the 240 and 500) via cigarette lighter plug while you’re driving ?
This is a good review, now I know I can curl my hair on the trail.
All 17 of them!
Great Video...thank you!!!!
Great review
Well done 👍🏻
I have the 500, love it!! they really work and work great!
Awesome! They're really useful!
I have one too and it's been great.
Here is a tip to bump up the charge rate when using 12V from the car. Get a DC-DC converter to bump up the 12-14V to 30V. That will max out the charge rate to just under 100W. I get 96-98W when set to 29.5V. Make sure your cigarette lighter can handle the current. In my Ford E350 I had to connect two outlets in parallel but it works great.
It also works when using solar. I just recently got a 100W flex panel and in really good sun the DC-DC booster allows for the same charge level. Without I can get 85W max.
With a 200W solar setup and booster you should be able to get the maximum out of this unit.
I got the same/similar fridge too. The Alpicool CF45 and set to 34F at 75-80F ambient it uses 50% of the Jackery 500 battery.
@@christianholmstedt8770 Yes i do the same with the dc-dc converter wile in my camper. i also use 200 watts of solar to charge when setting at camp.
@@christianholmstedt8770 that's an awesome tip for car charging! Thanks!
@@RevereOverland
Yeah thx. Got to max out the possibilities :)
Glad you did this one --
The Jackery is limited to current draw from a solar panel to around 60 watts. That is one of the downfalls since it is slow to charge from any source. One of the nice things is it has a 12 volt regulated output of around 13.4 volts! Great for running 12 volt fridge! Also I believe it has the charge through charging where you can charge it and use it at the same time.
Ok, I'll ask.
What 3rd party adapter are we talking about? Is it only for a Jackery?
I purchased one just now
Forget all you've heard about small 300w solar generator , Golabs r30 changed the game , Lifepo4 battery , full pass through , mppt builtin charger , all Usb ports you'll ever need , 300w pure sine wave inverter,1 qc 30w ports,1 Qc 60w port , 2 usb 3 ports, powerfull flashlight ,1 cig lighter plug , one adaptor to add a cig plug ,excellent accessories provided ,MC4 to 5521 to connect solar panel , good price , very nice information disply ,the only draw back is charging time , 45 watts with the provided wall charger , but 60 watts if you have a PD power supply , like a Apple power supply. This device rocks.
Great Ad!
Can you replace the battery or the fuses yourself without sending the unit in? Ask yourself this question before buying any batterybank.
I love your voice man
Nice PC
Hey thank you for the awesome review dude! What LED light was that?
usefull AF, thanks!
I ordered the latest 260 and 80w solar panel
Thank you
Great vid.
Thanks!
I have one. After charging it to full capacity and then promptly losing the power cord I realized WTF the power cord is unique. No something you can find in a box of misc cords. Not something you can find at your neighbors or a gas station on you way out of town. It blows my mind that you can't charge this from a usb cord. I think theres about 10 per US household. How this got through design I don't get. I have other batteries that charge from solar and they use micro usb cables/ports. Losing cords is a part of life. I get this situation is mine created, but F me i can't just go grab another cord out the misc box?? My next cord is getting wrapped in yellow tape and zip tied to the unit. I'll also order 2 so if I lose there's another readily available. Besides that...the thing is awesome. Inflated my stand up paddle board in minutes and used 2% of the battery. {250W version} Guys don't lose the charger cord!
That is terrible. He also didn't mention if you could easily service the battery or fuse box or if you would be at the mercy of jackery.
What all these Jackery reviews will not tell you is that you cannot use a Jackery power station as an emergency starter for a vehicle. If you are setting up a serious off-road vehicle for long journeys then you really need a true house battery with an isolator. This will do everything a Jackery/whatever can do but can also be used to start a vehicle. The downside is weight; a true house battery is typically a big, deep cycle marine battery. If portability is an issue then look at an ArkPak 730 or similar.
Thanks
Basic stuff like charging a phone or using a laptop got 240.
Need to be able to run mini fridge or medical equipment get a 500.
Want something that can use a cheap microwave / boil water silently with no smoke get a 1000.
▪
I'm wanting to get one of these to charge aieral Rider grizzly ebike batteries...
What would say is best for that ?
🟥
Thank you for such an informative video. In regards to the cpap usage, do you know if she was using a 12v adapter or just the regular wall adapter? Thanks in advance for any information.
I got the 1000. Twice as cool.
240파워뱅크에 100w 태양광패널 쓰는데 만족중입니다.
The best well explained information on the Jackery ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ we already have the 500 and now realise to power an Alpicool CX30 we need this plugged in for 3 day trips, My question is can I use a double lighter socket to power my Fiamma max Air On & Off from the same Jackery 500? Thanks
Awesome video !
But I’m wondering which one do you recommend for an inflatable mattress. That’s all I needed a jackery for my camping. Thanks
Great review. Does the 240 works with air pump?
Hey everyone!! I am struggling to decide between 300 and 500!!! I am going to be doing a cross country trip in autumn to the south....will need to run fans I'm sure- traveling with a little dog....
Your review was excellent! We live in a condominium in a building so are limited. For some reason it seems that if anyone sneezes the power goes out.Do you think that the 500 would serve a useful purpose .TV…small frig..etc .what type of wattage frig would I look for?
Can I use my solar panels. I have a portable case . Would they be compatible. With a jacket 500. Great video very informative thank you.
Great review. Thank you. Can you further explain wiring it to the truck battery to charge when running?
The 4Runner has a 12v outlet at the back that is on when the vehicle is on. It has tiny wires that I don't trust, so I ran an 8 gauge wire from the battery to the back. I added a new 12v outlet, and used the factory power to turn on/off a relay for the 8 gauge wire.
Thanks. I think I’ll try and do the same. Can you jump start the truck with it if needed?
well my friend awsome job as usual.
but im all bout doing things that make sense
and im sold!!
however...
the jack 500 does not make sense..
to be portable more mobile
and to help the needs of everyone that may be camping with u..
3 jack 240's make more sense
gaming
reading
charging
hotspots
laptops
cameras
drones wich u can take a jack 240 with u
which leaves 2 at camp.
in different locations.
no kids fighting lol
better to have 3 smaller units in diff locations
than 1 larger unit that has to be stationary
and cannot give the privacy that a person may need.
and those solar panels are the god sents!!!
the 500 and the 1000 great for stationary big jobs.
but to keep the peace lol
3 makes more sense.
and thats way less than what the 1000 model would cost.
Great review. How about a small Mr. Coffee?
My Jackery 500 runs my small Mr Coffee.
I bought the Jackery 240 and the Jackery 60 watt solar panel. The only real event using it was camping out charging 2 cell phones for a 3 day period as it performed very good. I would like to power my ham radio with it. My ham radio pulls about 20 amps while using an output of 100 watts. So can the Jackery 240 stand up for this? If so then for how long? If I connected the 60 watt solar panel to the 240 how long could I transmit with the 100W output ham radio? The video is great! Thank you!
I got that same Lenovo, its a piece of crap. LOL!
Thanks for the video. Really educated me on the Jackery products
I wonder which one you'll pick
In a power out situation I would run my Raspberry Pi 4, 1 watt and my router 18 watts and my 32 inch monitor , 30 watts. The Jackery 240 would handle this no problem. I have an AP Adventure 800, which I use, but it's SLA, and heavy
What were the watts pulling for the blow dryer, toaster? Wondering how high you can go with the 500? Like can you use something that has 550 wats? Or 520 wats for 5 minutes? Just curious
Using ResMed AirSense 10 CPAP with the Resmed 12 V to 24V powersupply plugged into the E1000 12V port uses about 7% - 10% per night. And, that is with the humidifier ON level 3 and wifi ON and NO heated nose. Using the standard 120V power supply uses more power because it is burning A/C which the Jackery has to produce by running the inverter. Spend the $85 for the 12V to 24V ResMed power supply and the E500 should last 4 to 5 nights.
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
My 500 will run my Resmed Airsense 10 for 2 nights.(with humidifier)
@@montyjohnstone4822 I suspect you are using the AC connection. The 500 and 1000 should use the same amount of power, just the 500 will be depleted sooner. I use the DC converter and about 7 hours of use with non heated hose and humidifier on 3, I use about 12%. Using my settings, the 500 should easily last about 4 nights (7 hours each)
Great review.
Question, on 11:45 min of the video, you have a clip playing on the computer screen, where is that?
Long Canyon Road in Moab. Check out this episode where we revisited: ua-cam.com/video/mITiP2T_3Gs/v-deo.html
Thanks for the useful analysis. My understanding is you have to factor in efficiency before you do the calculation to determine capacity. You need to multiply the nominal wattage by the efficiency (85% in the case of the 240) and then divide your load into the capacity to determine the time you get with a specific device. So the 240 gives you about 200 watthours useful capacity. This is true, I understand, with all power banks as well. You never get the nominal capacity. And a lot of them are much less than 85% At least jackery publishes this, unlike most manufacturers (assuming they're telling the truth with 85%) .
You published this in April. I'm curious to know how you feel about it now. Have you been using it since April? How's it holding up?
I really like the 500. I have a dual battery setup now, but still use the 500!
try on rice cooker and portable fridge?
Great review, I wish I knew if there was a way to charge it from existing solar panels.
Check out Hobotech for your answer.
Of course there is. You just need a panel, a $20 charge controller, and a cheap inverter.
@@gellotion and don’t forget the right connectors!😂
So I saw the toaster not work and I couldnt tell with coffee pot?
What do you think of those small 2 cup coffee makers you see in cheap hotels? Think the 500 would heat that?
Damn... this the best review for this product. Only 1 problem I see personally. I wish you plugged in a modern extreme gaming machine like the Helios or a high end RIG and using it as a workstation for rendering. In case if you don't know, rendering maxes out the cpu and gpu to 100 utilization. I'm guessing about 200 watts. From my calculations... that would kill this little box in about 2 to 3 hours and not days.
The 500 runs my PC with an i7 9700k, RTX2070, both my monitors, etc. it’s not going to last more than 2 or 3 hours while rendering, like you said.
@@RevereOverland ahhh... ok. Glad you agreed. Subbed.
Will they hold charge for extended periods (~1 year) without power loss or damaging the battery?
Great review! Can you keep fridge connected while charging?
Yes!
The most important thing I learned from this video = I don't understand how electricity works.
To the google box to brush up!
That’s what’s great about the Jackery - you don’t need to learn!
Excellent video. One of the best I've seen, if not the best. I'm mainly looking at getting the 240 or 500 for a power outage (I don't go camping). No need to power anything other than a fan or small speaker (white noise, at night). Maybe a light. A few dumb questions. First, when using the solar panel to power up the Jackery... how do you suggest keeping the 240/500 out of direct sun (since I'm guessing it's not good for it... and the cable is too short to extend into the house)? Second, do you think either of these would power a modem/router? Finally, you said that if a shadow covers any part of the 60W solar panel that it won't power up (vs. the 100W only shutting off half of it). Do you mean actually blocking the sun (like putting your hand over it) or would that also apply to... clouds? I'm going to assume it won't always have direct sun. Anyway... rambling. Thanks, again.
Hey! They’ll both easily power a router. I had the 500 running my entire computer. When I charge mine, I usually just put the Jackery unit in the shade behind the panel. For the shade part I was referring to putting your hand across it, but the 100W panel also performs better when it’s overcast. You won’t get a ton of charging from either though!
@@RevereOverland Thanks for the quick reply!
The Jackery 500 is 24Ah, not 40. Great post overall. Thanks.
The Jackery 500 is the equivalent to 40Ah at 12.7 volts.
@@RevereOverland My apologies. You are right.
How well did the 240 work with your diesel heater? That’s the only reason I want to buy one of these. Thanks!
Will this work as a backup power for household upright refrigerator?
I have a ResMed Airsense 10 CPAP (57W, 24V). How do I connect it to this Jackery battery?
Which one would I buy to power my JBL party box 710 and how long would it be able to run my JBL party box 710
