Hey guys, one thing I forgot to mention! You can charge your devices while the jackery is charging itself. I believe it’s called “pass through” charging. Just to note 📝
Can you STILL USE YOUR DEVICES while it is charging itself? I know on some Jackery models you can, didn't if you can or not on the little model. I really like that size, super convenient!
I think I accidentally deleted one of your comments, I was trying to respond. The answer is yes you can charge your devices while it is charging. It’s called pass through charging I believe.
@@brenpgraceYou deleted his comment because you do not believe in free speech. You are a communist who commits human rights abuses like DPRK regime in Pyong Yang.
I have the 300 with solar panels and gave a 300 with a panel to my parents for Christmas. We live in South Florida, we have them for hurricane season. After Milton hit a week ago my parents were without power for two days (while I retained power). So, I leant them mine to supplement theirs. They were able to run a portable TV from one, and a fan and a lamp with a CFL bulb with the other. These things are life savers when you don’t want the hassle and expense of gas power generators. After Ian hit 2 years ago I had no power for 12 days. I don’t have the Jackery at that time but would have loved the simple comfort of a lamp, a fan, and a fully charged phone. It was Ian that prompted me to get one. My only regret was not getting a larger model, but the 300 with a panel was what I could afford at the time. If you’re thinking of one, they usually have excellent Black Friday sales, and also tend to have sales during Amazon Prime days (both on Amazon itself and the Jackery website).
I researched for a very long time before settling for the Jackery 240e. Loved it but needed more power. I will say my regret is it doesn't fast charge mobiles. Also that I didn't get the 500. While it has it's pros there are cons. I would not say choose this model. I purchased along side it 6 months later a Vtoman 600 as needed more power at low cost. Yes it's no Jackery but lasted a 6 day trip without issue and still had 60% power left at the end of my trip. The Jackery where I didn’t use it for anything but light on the same trip had 30% power left. The brand is what you are paying for with the Jackery but they are pricey. Although now they have gone down i.e older models in cost. I would say yes its compact, light and small but you will need more power at some stage. Solo female Car camper. 🇬🇧
Bren, the major use I use my Jackery for is to power my CPAP. I have a stick and bricks home, so I charge my Jackery 500 and keep it charged for when we lose power. We lose power, pretty regularly, and my sleep apnea is severe enough that I don’tsleep without the CPAP. The Jackery 500 powers my CPAP for three full nights sleep. Thanks for bringing the Jackery capabilities in your video in a very understandable and relatable way.
Excellent review. I appreciate that you stayed away from all the technical stuff that I don't understand. Just know it can handle my phone, tablet, electric shaver, etc. I'm about to get the Jackery 290. Think it goes for $249.99 here in Florida. Hope you're doing well!!!😎
It’s funny you say that. I watched a guy do a review on this product and he may as well have been speaking a different language. I’m all about layman’s terms. Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
@@brenpgrace I'm definitely the same way. Amps, watts, volts, amphours, etc. Now all I need is a video to show me how to change the fluid in the thing😎
240 watt-hours means that (theoretically, under ideal conditions) the battery can supply 1 watt for 240 hours, or 6 watts for 40 hours, or 10 watts for 24 hours etc. Basically you divide the 240 watt-hour rating by the size of your load in watts and you get a rough idea of how long the power station will run.
We camp a lot and have been considering a portable power station. Using a fan all night is one thing we would use it for so I appreciate the information that it will run a mini fan all night. Your mini rice cooker is interesting, too. We use a lunch box stove by RoadPro to heat/cook a lot of our meals. It runs off DC so since you are driving so much anyway it might be a good option for you. We cook in foil loaf pans from Dollar Tree so we don't have to do dishes. Thanks for the Jackery information, that size looks like a perfect option for us since we don't have lots of space.
Dude. The Anker C1000 can charge in less than one hour, puts out like five times the power and has four times the capacity. Being able to fully charge it in under an hour is so huge. At the gym for 30 minutes?! That’s almost a full charge. It constantly goes for sale to under 700 dollars. Pricey, but worth it.
Van Life Plus had a video on "VanLife" & what defines it. Living in ANY VEHICLE, equals a "VANLIFER". Your a Vanlifers 😄 Thanks for the info on tour Jackery. I think it's probably good to have 2 batteries; one for your devices & one for a fridge/freezer to run off of.
Hey Bren, new subscriber here from SE Connecticut! I love your channel! I stay in my Hotel Subaru every time I go on vacation in my 2018 Outback. I have a new fridge in my car that drains my Jackery 1000. I think I am going to install some flexible solar panels on my roof to see if that helps. I have found your videos very helpful and will continue to catch up on past vids for more information.
Before you purchase any portable power station, make sure you have access to the fuse panel. If not, you'll be stuck sending it in for service. That's if its still under warranty. Not many reviews mention this... #RightToRepair
I left one on the back of a trailer, and while turning a corner, it fell to the road... only damage was a few nicks. That was 4 years ago and still works like new ❤❤
Great review, Bren. I got the 500 watt one about a year ago and we had a ice storm that took out the power for nearly 3 days and I was able to charge our devices and run 1 lamp on it for nearly 3 days. Life-saver!! I agree--it is a game-changer!!!
We have the same car, the same size, Jackery . I also bought the solar panel's so when I'm further from the city, or I just throw them in my windshield.
I have the 290 and it’s nice and light. I am however going to upgrade to a higher wattage unit for extra power. It kept me warm many nights as well as charging all my devices.
Nice review. I also often forget what all those numbers mean, but really appreciate hearing what it is that you actually use it for. I have a 290, which Jackery came out with after the 240, but before they came out with the updated electronics of the 300. I have it as a backup to a knock-off with a Chinese name that English speakers can’t pronounce that I use solely for my CPAP. I also keep several Anker power banks for charging up phones, earbuds, tablets, & small clip-on fans for air circulation (my phone battery doesn’t hold a charge as well as it used to so it’s often easier to keep in my pocket (since it is smaller than 5 x 3 x 0.5 inches) Anker 10,000mAh Power Bank that has a tethered USB-C cable that acts as a lanyard handle. I’m looking at the 1000 v2 or 1000 to upgrade to, a little bigger but a flat to.
I got a super big power station and super regret it cuz its SO heavy to take into places to charge. A smaller station like yours is perfect and stealthy to charge.
I bought mine out of curiosity. And it has become a staple on my service truck and for my A/V production efforts. It has worked well for me for about three years now. They are good for small equipment or high efficiency equipment. As far as charging I usually charge after work hours off the service van power.
I just got mine. It's nice to hear you say it's worth every penny. I live in the land of hurricanes so may get the solar panel to charge it when the electricity goes out for a long time.
If you want a good fan get a DeWalt fan with 2 batteries. Mine will run for 8 hours on medium setting. I would charge up all my batteries at work. Also, I had the same jackery. I lived in my van for a year and loved it. Still using my jackery and DeWalt fan for camping.
Nice review of the Jackery. Well said and well explained. I love car camping, van camping, moto-scooter camping and Kayak camping as my "hobby camping" ... outdoorsy things fishing, sightseeing, general daytripping. I'm not full-time, I'm simply full-on with it if that makes sense 😅. Well then, have a good Memorial Day Weekend and THANK A VETERAN 👍.
I have this exact Jackery for my home for when the electricity goes out I have this as a back up. I like it a lot. But if I were living in my vehicle I'd want a much larger one and I'd get the solar panels. I like old school too, the simper the better as far as I'm concerned. It does take a while to charge, even in the wall in my opinion. But I'm wondering, charging off your battery doesn't that kill your battery pretty quickly? I was lucky got my Jackery on sale for much less. Great timing for me.
I think the entry level power station from Jackery is the Explorer 100. But that does not have an AC outlet and is designed more for people who would be flying and take their Jackery on a plane.
Yo thank you so much Bren! Without you i would never got the Noco Boost, and I just had to use it for the first time. Totally saved my ass! Dont know what I woulda done without it omg
I had a Flashfish with solar panel. It was fine for my minimal needs. I wouldn't think this would be a problem but it was so light weight that it got knocked around, alot. I guess I killed it 😔 I now have a larger, sturdier Ecoflo with solar panel. Love it. I don't really need it but it has given me some luxuries like 2 fans can run all night. I though about getting a rice cooker.
I got the 1500 and have used it in my house once last year when the power went out. That size can keep your fridge/freezer running for a day. If I use it on the road I could run a microwave or single burner electric range for 1hr. Otherwise it'll charge my phone and laptop and gopro etc for a week without recharge when I'm on the road. I prefer not to drain the car battery as much as possible so I will charge from the jackery instead of the car itself when the engine is off. I still need to get a super quiet fan for summer
Also make sure you wait til they go on sale. They always have some promo going on so make sure you wait til it's like 30%+ off. I personally skipped the solar panels because I know I can recharge from an outlet before I go on my next trip. Solar panels could be a better option with a smaller power bank if you're in a sunny location and don't have access to a wall outlet. I think it's ~4 hours to full charge from the wall and using your car outlet or solar panels are increasingly slower charging. And ultimately as a battery these things will lose chemical potential over time and hold less charge and require to be charged more often
A mini dash cookery is new to me. A cooker using only 12 volts? The Jackery then has an inverter since it has a 110 V output. You have a slick operation.
The problem with any battery, no matter how good quality it is, is that it has a limited number of possible charges and discharges and, over time, you notice that its performance degrades more and more until it is useless... It is a technology limitation problem...
Yeah, but if it lasts a few years like it has for him with everyday use, for $179, that's really not that bad imo. And for most people that camp every so often they can have this last for much longer. But you are correct, battery efficiency does degrade over time, a primary reason people upgrade phones so often.
Luckily they hold their charge for a long time too. I think recommendation on mine said to store at full power and recharge it every 6 months to top it off. Discharges like 5-10% in that time
that being said, not a battery but as with any applence it gives up it's ghost over time. i had a crock pot i loved one they do not make anymore. so the time came when it went to crock pot heaven. just as the battery in the jackery all give it up over time. (yes i know it's a crock pot not a berrery but it is electrical so all go by the way side.) you can get the most expencive battery say $10,000 dollars with solar and the whole nine yards, it to will die. maybe it will last longer but you will use it (most likly when you need it most) and it will not work. so get what you can afford and for Your useage not just leanth of time lasting. if it goes 2 years 3, 4 that is the risk we take.
Good video thank you. We have power outages at the worst times where i live and i have a generator to run my pellet stove but id love to have something like this to keep my phone charged or something i can play my steamdeck and keep it charged as well.
At minimum u would need 2 of them or a 500 watts one to go with your 240. U should buy some power banks so u can change your phone and pad. That way u got a backup. Also u should get a 110 watts solor panel or 2 .
Great detailed review. Thank you. Question about this. Does it give any info about the battery shelf life? I plan to just keep for small emergencies. We want to make sure it is adequately charged. Also any type of maintenance needed?
Thanks for the review I can charge any devices with my cigarette lighter in my car for $15 you buy a car inverter converter and you'll have more outlets to charge more devices, I run a USB fan whole night every day while the car is off, remember the jackery is a fancy battery I have one is the car battery 🔋 even with Prius you can connect a microwave, blender, laptop etc with the car off you can run the AC whole night in your car while you're sleeping while you charging your devices. in my opinion the jackery is money you don't need spend.
Hi are you able to plug a separate inverter into the 12v socket that will give you more watts output say a 500w inverter that you would plug into the car lighter socket
Hi, got the same thing on sale. Little Explorer 240 in combination with Solar Saga 80. Getting 73-75W in and I`m using 60W in peak when my laptop and mobile phone are charging. This means that the Explorer`s batterry never get drained :-)
I have a 200x yeti, same idea as the jackery, I only use this for random charging in the car. It's more for taking with me on the trails. For living in my car i use a secondary gel battery that i installed in my car. 300watt power inverter, and im set. The battery charges as i drive my car, and i plug my yeti into it to charge while i drive around. Subed again, I keep deleting my channel lol,
Hey Bren, Always enjoy your content.🙏 My friend and I are new to Dashin and recently explored an unfamiliar hot spot that shows as VERY BUSY. Incidently my friend's name is Bren and also w/ a P for last initial 😊
That’s what I was looking for. And now I know I can’t afford it 😢 it’s months of my salary to buy this 😢 what a shame. And I think in Europe I need 220V to charge laptop and others
Jackery's are ok in a pinch, but old tech. Ditch the Jackery and buy a Bluetti EB3A, *safer* battery technology and charges in 1.5 hrs. Will charge to 100% for 10 yrs. Jackery only has 500 lifecycles on the battery. One of the best features is the charging brick is built in, not an extra you need to lug around. MUCH better display and has an app to control it with. Get solar...BourgeRV is a great/affordable brand -you will never regret getting solar. For your light, get a Sinvitron Camping Lantern, it can run 150 hrs on low (plenty of light to read by) and charge your phone if need be, only $25.

219? wtf? bluetti is around that price but sooo much better. you overpaid. im not a critic to you. i wanna say when this unit starts to fail (battery) buy bluetti. u have li-ion cobalt battery which last around 1000 cycles that you in 2 years have probably used up around 70%. after that it will still work but that 240wh you dont understand is how many times u can charge or how long you can cook... well its gonna start to go down after those 1000 cycles. bluetti has 3000+ cycles LiFePo4 batteries which are the best and safest batteries outhere. ecoflow costs to much and other brands.... dont!

Its obvious that Jackery requires these people to use the words "Honest Review" in the title because they all say it in the title. LOL My "honest review" of the Jackery is it's an outdated POS. No Lipo4 battery, only good for like 500 cycles, slow as hell charging, solar charging take a lifetime, the inverter is garbage.

Discharges like 5-10% in that time
Well that's the problem with almost all electrical devices! You cannot go on using the devices forever!
that being said, not a battery but as with any applence it gives up it's ghost over time. i had a crock pot i loved one they do not make anymore. so the time came when it went to crock pot heaven. just as the battery in the jackery all give it up over time.
What doesn't degrade over time and use?
FYI: I plugged in a 300W item. It lasted a little over 1.5 hours. Took over 3 hours to recharge from a house plug.
It was the first one I bought, but it is old hat now it takes ages to charge . Get the BLUETTI instead.
Nice review, i actualy wanted to know all about it...🎉🎉 thank you🎉
Love your post...love
I m ready for the next one😂
I'm so glad!
Great review!
Thanks!
People soon realize on the road keeping food cold with a refrigerator or ice becomes pointless all of the effort and expense
Two years!?!? Nice!
I’m still confused about that thing , do u have to eventually plug that to a wall? Or can you charge that with the sun?
Thank you for your review, very helpful:)
Glad it was helpful!
Have you considered running a car refrigerator off the Jackery?
Off this one? No way. Would need some with much more capacity
Subed again, I keep deleting my channel lol,
I like the sound of that!
The gel battery is the one that doesn't give off fumes right? Mine will have to be in the car with me.
@rashb3994 Yes, exactly.
Hi Bren, how much of a percentage does running the fan all night take it down to? Keep it up your content has been very helpful!
I don’t know precisely
Watch for sales ... I got the Jackery 240 for about $150 last year during a sale.
Hey Bren, Always enjoy your content.🙏 My friend and I are new to Dashin and recently explored an unfamiliar hot spot that shows as VERY BUSY. Any suggestions on what to do when the cell service keeps dropping leaving the driver up shit creek to find the delivery destination ?!🥵 we were thinking finding out the local service carriers B4 perhaps ? Incidently my friend's name is Bren and also w/ a P for last initial 😊
How do people live in their car?
TMNT!!! In the Back Lets GOOOO!!!!
thanks 4 review
My pleasure
🙏🏾
Bren question when using the rice cooker with the jackery do u keep it on low or put it on cook??
Cook
🐢❤️🐢
I THIS , I THAT, SAME OLE SAME OLE... YOU HAVE A FREAKING FAN RIGHT THERE AND YOU CANT EVEN COVER HOW THAT DOES !!!
Breathe dude, breathe.
That’s what I was looking for. And now I know I can’t afford it 😢 it’s months of my salary to buy this 😢 what a shame. And I think in Europe I need 220V to charge laptop and others
Thank you for the video.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks!!
Nice haircut!
Thanks!
What you know bout the Last Ronin , ( I just got that Turtles Graphic Novel , looks bad ass
It’s an amazing series. Would love a movie of it
What brand is your mini fan?
Walmart
Get a pecron e300 lfp instead. It puts out 600 watts and is only $199.00. It weights app. 10lbs and uses a lithium iron phosphate battery.
Thanks for the tip!
Thankyou God bless
Good video 👍
Thanks 👍
It is $178.00 on walmart
I did not know that, thanks! I’ll pin it!
do you have solar panels
No
We have one 500v is good ,but I will buy something different, is very expensive, and I found some much cheaper,
❤
every reviewer also sells the things
🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
👍
Hey buddy I enjoy your videos and am learning to dash myself. I'm new and am trying to establish my own UA-cam channel to share my experiences. I'm calling it, Deliver to the hungry. Have you seen it? I have a lot to learn and am wondering what video editor you use? Thanks
I have not! I’ll be honest I don’t watch too many gig tubers these days but it has an audience for sure. I use an app called VLLO. I do everything on my phone it’s $20 per year. Worth every penny. All the best!
@@brenpgrace thank you
How hard would it be for you to be fully familiar with the terms and their meanings for a product that you claim to have used for a long time? It''s not rocket science. Bailing out at 1:29 since I can't trust a word you're telling me about a product you that admit you don't comprehend. Yes... You no doubt know how you've been using it, but I'm not you, and I need to know how it will work for me based on your knowledge, not assumptions or guesses, or down right "I don't know" statements. Peace out. I'll just go to Jackery's website and look up their product info for the Explore 240. Safe travels, friend. Glad you enjoy the product for the most part, and it's doing something for you.
Sorry for failing you 😞
Whoa! I just clicked the like button and realized I was the 666th person to do so. Since 666 has prophetically negative connotations, would you all please start hitting the like button to help me move past this? Tks. 😉
There, I just liked my own video to get us to 667. 😂
219? wtf? bluetti is around that price but sooo much better. you overpaid. im not a critic to you. i wanna say when this unit starts to fail (battery) buy bluetti. u have li-ion cobalt battery which last around 1000 cycles that you in 2 years have probably used up around 70%. after that it will still work but that 240wh you dont understand is how many times u can charge or how long you can cook... well its gonna start to go down after those 1000 cycles. bluetti has 3000+ cycles LiFePo4 batteries which are the best and safest batteries outhere. ecoflow costs to much and other brands.... dont!
Thanks for the info!
@@brenpgraceno BS saying from some personal experience and exp from youtubers. i too live in a car but unlike you i have a lot of free time so i did my homework. if you search yourself you will find it to be true. the info i shared with you. lost about 6 monhts of my free time😂 for this knowledge. i personally own 2 agm batteries with solar panel and my friend who also lives in his car has a bluetti with same solar panel. man thus works good for us.
Rule #1; on ANY product review: PRICE! Had to click off 2 min in and go find another video
@@TamTranTriZzle i covered the price in this video.
Way too small to be worth much.
I hope you got paid to do this. Small channels deserve promo monies too!!!!
Nope, non sponsored review but the video is monetized.
No information about the smell of the power station they produce
Its obvious that Jackery requires these people to use the words "Honest Review" in the title because they all say it in the title. LOL
My "honest review" of the Jackery is it's an outdated POS. No Lipo4 battery, only good for like 500 cycles, slow as hell charging, solar charging take a lifetime, the inverter is garbage.
@@SOLDOZER I am not affiliated with this company. This was my honest review but thanks for sharing! What do you suggest is a better product?
Jackery is hateful to small folk though 🤦🏼♀️ & some of the bigger van folk are going with other company's because jackerys 🦵 the 🪣 for that expensive price tag. Good review tho!
Thank you for the video
