Second Chance For A Baby Fox (part 1)

  • In the video, my wife and I discovered a baby fox while we were out gem hunting. The fox was severely dehydrated, weak, and had a bloody wound on its neck. My wife, who is a veterinarian, and I are both vaccinated against rabies. It's important to note that if rabies is present in your area, do not attempt to handle wild animals. If you get bitten by a rabid animal and are not treated, it can be fatal.

God Bless you and your wife for saving this little soul! What a cutie! I fell instantly in love! Being a Vietnam Vet, I saved many animals wounded from the war. Now days I contribute to various organizations who shelter and provide medical care to animals. As human beings it's our responsibility to care for all creatures less fortunate.

I help the aspca and the human society to stop the abuse and I may be 21 years old and not understand most of this war stuff but I say I'm sure it was upsetting when some of the animals you had didn't make it 😢

Omg, I cried so much!! That is one of the most precious, innocent babies I have EVER seen. You are his ANGELS!!!!! I can't even bear to imagine how horrible it would have been if you hadn't have found him. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

I watched part 1 & 2 out of order -- that little face when you first found him, the look in his eyes when he was crying & stumbling towards you .... I've rescued a few dumped kittens through the years, and they always know who will help them, they ALWAYS know who's kind-hearted. Thanks for making the world a better place, both by doing this & showing other people that kindness is the best way to go, every time. :)

+H770907 - I'm going to have to correct you on that one. My sister LOVES animals and becomes a total b*tch once you really get to know her. Loving things doesn't - in and of itself - make you a good person. But props to these people for saving that little cutie, I have no quarrel with them and this comment isn't intended to be against them. I just argue for the sake of arguing ;)

We used to raise mink and fox when I was a kid (no hard feelings guys-I was a kid and it wasn't my decision). We had a mother fox that wouldn't care for her two pups so my mom, who was a nurse, brought them up to the house and tube fed them while using a heating pad to keep them warm (she did this with all the mink and fox pups that the mothers abandoned). The two from this mother were the first fox pups she raised though. They ended up living in our house, sleeping with the dogs, eating dog food, barking, and demanding attention. I would NEVER recommend ANYONE try to have a fox as a pet, you REALLY need to know what you are doing. But, having said that, these two fox were some of the best pets we ever had. Smarter than dogs and just as affectionate, they were even house broke. And if anyone finds a abandoned baby fox, please take it to your local vet so it can be rehabilitated and released, don't try to do it yourself. Beau, you and your wife did a great job!

My cousin is a fur bearing wildlife biologist for the State of South Carolina. He had a pet red fox while in high school. While I don't think it is a good plan to raise wild animals in captivity, That fox was the coolest pet ever and would purr when she was petted. He told me that he regretted having it because he could never give her enough attention.

When I read the sentence "(Kill it or die) I was thinking for a moment that this was your suggestion :-/ I hope there's no crazy idiot here reading this and honestly thinking that this is what he should do in such cases (UA-cam has got some strange people watching). But thank you so much for taking care about helpless animals, lucky they find you/you find them. I don't wanna imagine what would have been if the little fox had stayed alone. Nature is a really cruel a..hole sometimes :-(

I know in MD the DNR says we can't have such things as pets but you can't just leave them in that condition. You guys did the right thing. We have helped.squirrels, raccoons and past year helped a mother fox with her kits by putting out some meat time to time(local farmer didn't plant the field leaving no small game for them) better than them going after our chickens. Keep us posted Beau, God puts things in our path to teach us compassion.

God bless you and your wife for taking this doomed creature and giving her another shot at life. I know that it bothered you all to let her go, but just think about how wonderful she is now and the life that she has in front of her.

I live in a noisy city. I like to think of myself as someone who has desensitised myself to tough conditions.. But watching this video softened my heart :-)
