I've been a caster MW since WoD. I know it's not the most popular way of healing as a MW these days, but it's what I'm used to and I know it very well.
Thanks for taking the time to give us this guide! I love casting mistweaver and have been looking for a great build. These builds feel really good and I love the lightning build for m+. Keep up the great work on your mythic raiding adventures, very inspiring.
ran a caster build a bunch a few weeks ago in M+ and It felt really good. After gearing up a bit i went back to fist weaving + peer into peace for that emergency ramp though just eats a ton of mana. The more caster oriented build i feel is much easier to carry teams with bad interrupts. Was going to run it some more this weekend. Perfect timing of this vid. I feel healer damage really is low enough that doing a much higher hps focused build is much more viable now.
100% agree. I'd be afraid to try fistweaving with my usual group, we time +10s but suck at interrupts sometimes... need to be able to pump 1-2 mil hps at a moment's notice!
I'm a Brewmaster/Windwalker who has dabbled with Fistweaving, but never felt I had enough knowledge to take the plunge into full casting Mistweaver. I really appreciate your insights on this, and I'm looking forward to giving this a try sometime!
Rocking the 20 anniversary “T2“ monk set. I think it is the best of all anniversary sets and I think also the best tier set for monk period 🐉 Thanks for the guide. Didn’t know casting mw was a thing, only saw fistweaving which added too many dmg keybinds for me to the base healing kit
Hey Luno, thanks for this video man!!! Very thorough and well explained. I have 2 different friends who want to play caster MW and are leveling alts, I'm gonna send them this :) have a good one!
11.0.5 brought interesting changes that support this build, but only in raids - Jade empowerment does crazy damage, which is something casting MW almost doesn't have (since you skip melee completely) + rushing wind kick for raids is now incredibly strong and allows you to cast at 25 y range (almost like evoker, extending your rising mist). I would emplore you however to try Fistweaving, with these new talents, in m+ Fistweaving (with high haste) feels super strong = for trash packs you just spin to win and if there's a need to not be in melee just roll out + thunder focus tea and go Jade empowerment to top everyone up. A perfect combination of melee and ranged. In M+ also, in higher keys every bit of damage matters & as casting mistweaver you're putting your team in disadvantage (fistweaving + jade empowerment can do 500k+ DPS).
I appreciate the thought! I've heard about fistweaving being really strong DPS with the new talents in M+, but still prefer casting/ranged. You're right that healer damage matters in higher keys, but for players not interested in going higher than +10s, I think it's even less necessary than it used to be (who knows, maybe S2 will be tuned harder), and a lot of healers just don't enjoy feeling pressured to do DPS. Sure, the lack of healer DPS may be a disadvantage, but in my experience the main factors in bad runs are almost always avoidable damage, failed mechanics, and deaths. Most pugs won't see things that way though, and at the end of a failed run everyone wants someone to blame, so casting MW will probably continue to have a weak reputation in M+ despite everything.
W guide. Been tinkering with caster MW in +11-+12s lately. Adding rushing wind kick while putting every other talent towards pure caster throughput has felt pretty good. can still average 300-400k overall damage while having enough healing CD to pump through anything.
Man, huge congrats on the video. Super well done, really thoughtful. So nice to finally see another casting mistweaver. My builds are the same as yours since I don't really vibe with the full melee style. I miss the haste with the celestial summon tho :( it was an easier talent to get in dragonflight. Keep it up
Thanks, and same! I wish I felt like I could drop any of the other talents and get Invoker's Delight in my dungeon build, but there are just too many other good options. Maybe it won't be so bad 1-2 seasons from now when we have more haste. :D
@@Ebonit1207 That's cool! I've thought about trying that build sometime since I'm getting a little practice with MoH on Mythic Broodtwister. Those guides are made for the most optimal playstyle. The most optimal playstyle for mistweaver is melee. You are a melee healer, you are flagged in the games code to get melee mechanics, NOTHING you do is going to change that. Up until this patch you didn't have any good options for damage at range, now you do every thirty seconds. This play style is fine but you really should keep in mind you get melee mechanics and should basically float in and out of melee. Not trying to preach, just trying to help fellow mistweavers understand.
great guide... you explain everything clearly and in a compelling way for casting MW... pls let me clarify tho, does the renewing mist from Rapid diffusion benefit from chi harmony at all?
Thank you. i was basically giving up Monk healing because every single guide push towards healing through punching... And I tried, but that style just don't click with me. At. All.

LBNinja explains it pretty well in case you haven't checked him out yet. I've seen some of those parses too, but I'm personally not a fan of playing Rising Mist and having to hit RWK on CD. I know it doesn't even need to hit a target to proc both effects, but dropping ToM and PiP is too much for me - I guess I prefer the lazy build with fewer buttons, for now at least. :D

Thanks for watching! Icyveins has gotten pretty good about supporting Tear of Morning builds! I don't agree with every one of their talent choices but I think they're a good resource :D
Thanks for the video! I'm a novice fistweaver but never tried casting. I would love an honest-to-god basic rotation to learn so I can get started with casting. If a beginner fistweaver is told to "stomp + spin to win", what's an equally simple mantra for a beginner caster to focus on?
I think it's just put your Renewing Mists on different players whenever they're up, maintain channeling Soothing Mist on the tank or someone else, and Enveloping Mist + Vivify during the channel if they need healing. Those are the basics, we basically just do more or less of that depending on how much healing is needed. :D
Thank you for this video 👍 Now i wish blizzard would go look at Mastery of Harmony to emphasize more the builds showed here. I would like the dommage portion of MOH to be trigger by cracklings jade for example. Why ? Because i found the other one to be weak and boring. The full canalisation doesnt allow to be safe for a huge dommage event in MM+.
Right! I don't understand why they didn't add lightning to the MoH triggers, I really thought they would. I might actually play MoH, at least in M+, if they made that change.
@lunolarks9792 I love it. I also spec into pool of mists which grants 3 charges of renewing mists and jadefore teachings which combined with jade empowerment, my heals are insane.
Hi, sure! For me it's scroll up for soothing, down for enveloping, extra button for renewing, and mmb for cocoon -- I don't have a fancy gaming mouse so the rest I've got bound to numbers or letters, but it works well enough for me :D
Great video! Like and sub! Event though English is not my first language it was still very enjoyable to watch and simple to understand the topics. I didn t know that caster MW was playable in m+ keys, for me who plays with balance druid and hunter in party it was always big headache to properly heal one of them (in fistweaving) since im in meele and they are standing in big range, abilities just don t always reach both of them. Hopefully this build will fix my problem with group and finally they wont complain that my healing is bad T-T Can you link character profile from raider io, really interested to check logs from m+ and raid to compare and improve my healing =)
Thanks a lot! I definitely think casting MW is easier for most keys if you're focused on heals, especially with ranged DPS who like to stand far out. Here's my profile! :D raider.io/characters/us/dalaran/Midani
I've been having luck with the 3 stack talent instead of peer into peace. The extra charge combined with the chi harmony talent just ends up being more healing due to the vivify cleave, especially in raid but also in keys. On something like the trash right after the first boss in raid i can burst up to 3.5m hps with no soothing mist and simply doing a casting version of the ramp due to having bis trinkets, reneweing mist tea'd and yulon's to burst up to 143% haste (sit at 33% when flasked). currently 4/8myth and 3150io @ 621ilvl and having a blast with fistweaving in keys/ Yulon caster in raid. The chain jade lightning is nice as an alternative to SCK but could maybe still use some work as the single target healing is untouchable, but the overall healing tends to be lower than crane kick in a key albeit more unpredictable. Damage is about equal. Hate how unviable the rushing wind kick is vs ancient teachings as a choice, just feels bad. Same with the shadow pan talents vs celestials, they just simply don't stack up to the alternatives in throughput but are fun in lower keys due to the ability to save damage procs for situations to make dps feel bad about themselves. As far as thunder focus tea, you should only use it on something other than renewing mists if 1:someone will die without the extra heals, 2: sheilunes 7+ stack go for crit on rsk, 3. rsk before revival. The haste buff should be your go to outside of those 3 situations.
That's cool, I personally prefer the Soothing Mist playstyle but I know a lot of MWs (especially fistweavers) don't. In the same way, my build's especially for people who want to play more caster-style without playing melee or hybrid - we don't even need to hit RSK to put up good numbers. 100% agree that the new jade lightning talent needs to be more viable for single-target, but for AoE it feels great, especially in M+, or on fights like Ulgrax and Broodtwister. Agree again, RWK is great but being on a choice node with JFT is tragic. MoH could be nice in keys if they add crackling jade lightning to the hero talent triggers but losing Conduit would still hurt. Sounds like we play a little differently but both ways work! I love healing that first pack after Ulgrax - this week I burst almost 4.5mil hps. :D
@@lunolarks9792 Between that pack and the initial burst on queen are my favorite healing spots this expansion, nothing touches monk in terms of "set up early because this is gonna hurt" type of healing rather than the reactionary style of something like pally. I'm definitely a melee player in terms of healing. Rdruid, Hpally and MW monk, the only healers i've played, all primarily melee lol. You definitely parse a couple higher than me on most of your heroic clears, but we also run with a 528 hpriest who well overheals to be able to parse well for the heroic kills. Still talking high 80's with a couple low 90's though so definitely happy with where the class is at right now. Ran Hpally S1 and S2 dragonflight and can't say the monk has ever felt quite as strong as that did in the hayday for keys. There's just something about the damage profiles in NW and stonevault that have been holding me back from anything higher than an 11 which is a bit frustrating. (speaking completion or timing, I simply can't get through the second boss in NW on an 11 or the duo bosses in stonevault, not saying it's all me, not saying it isnt all me lol) All in all, im stoked to see so many new MW content creators, Megasett and LB are great and all, but seeing other high ranking monks running different specs is pretty darn cool too.
@@MDxGano Right! Parses for me are a guilty pleasure but I hate how they're so dependent on the rest of the group, I wish we had more fights that let us maximize healing instead of just trying to beat others to a little bit of healing at a time. Stonevault feels pretty good throughout as full caster (a lot of it seems anti-melee from my perspective), but even though my group's probably done NW a hundred times between shadowlands and now, that second boss goes wrong so fast if we break CCs and don't interrupt... (both of which we do a LOT lol). Yeah, it's great seeing all the new MW content creators and different builds, I just wish the class discord was a little more encouraging of different options but everyone always wants to play the "best" way. After all the attention we got after the Amirdrassil world first race, I don't mind MW being an underdog so we don't get nerfed as much. As a forever caster I actually think this is our heyday now, but there's still a lot of changes I'd love to see. The only thing that might turn me off to MW is if they bring back chi. 😂
My weird ass playstyle is that I'm using caster mistweaver build but I still punch and kicks in melee 😂 Caster MW has easier time to heal and using master of harmony is probably better because of how often we would be using thunder focus tea for instant cast enveloping mists or free vivify
In M+ I still do a lot of punches and kicks in melee and it feels weird every time since I'm missing almost all of the fistweaving talents. With the lightning talents it's way better now though. I think MoH is decent for M+, but I prefer the Celestials tree since I'm not as good at managing my CDs in M+ as I am in raid, and being able to hit Conduit and make everything better with 1 button feels great. :D
I've heard a few people say it bugs sometimes, but I haven't noticed anything. If you're spec'd into Jadefire Teachings and you use lightning within 15 seconds of using TFT it should do a lot of healing, as long as it's hitting multi targets and they're not dying mid-channel, if it isn't I'm not sure why :(
It's definitely good enough, but during downtime we might melee a bit (even without fistweaving talents) if we want more DPS besides lightning procs. 300k seems right, earlier this week I did 267k in a Mists, 207k in DB, and 291k in a CoT without trying too hard to DPS, so definitely doable! 👍
wago.io/KWCsPzg4X I think this is the WA I found originally, then all I did was change to the old icon (1381294). It's a little weird with the shorter CHs made by Rapid Diffusion procs, where the countdown isn't always accurate, but it's worked well enough for what I need it for!
The biggest difference from my perspective is CDs. In MM+, you use chi-ji and Sheilun to heal but outside of those you lack AOE healing. With the casting build, you don't need to have your cooldowns. All you need is a bit of anticipation with pre-hot enveloping mist. The price to pay on the other hand is a lack of mobility while casting, and it's where you are going to need revival, yu'lon. In PUG that's makes it the best build.
I think it's still pretty popular. I still see places like icyveins and others recommending PiP (I've never trusted wowhead's MW talent recommendations), and even though some of the high parsers are playing Pool of Mists/Rising Mist, a big part of that talent involves hitting RSK/RWK which pushes away from a pure casting/ranged playstyle a bit. Still, PoM might be something I look at as an alternate build. :D
I've always played caster Monk healer it's a joke how much healing you can pump out, and how few people actually try it as its not on any guides. It's always my go to mythic plus spec for my healer alt
Same! A lot of it's just peer pressure I think, people don't want to invest time in playing caster if they think it'll get them declined from pugs, which is a shame. The new talents should make that a bit better. :D
With bro bros health bar placement I'm not surprised he plays caster. And M+ damage patterns are better for fistweaving, especially big pulls if you know how to ramp, hold kick, and cycle rsk on top of main cds. Just way more efficient
I love the slaps and kicks. I do around 600k hps and 150k dps as a 609 fistweaver. I can shoot my heals higher if need be but if that’s the case, we all usually die anyway and end up not timing the key
@@chase8020 yea I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. I’m parsing green in heals and blue to purple in damage. Ntm we have a 619 h priest and a 615 evoker. They suck up all the heals. So I do ten times the damage as they do.
I really loved your guide. I decided to play healler in TWW and hated that every tutorial or guide for mistweaver was about healling through "slaps n kicks".
Thanks! Icyveins is pretty good about supporting Tear of Harmony builds now, but in some other places - especially when it's about healing M+ - people still talk down at people wanting to play caster.
One thing that wasn't explained, why play caster? Is it because its easier than being in melee? You rotation and ramps are almost identical minus rising sun//soothing mist. Is it the trade off for less mobility for more safety? I would love to hear in what scenarios caster really shines and it might help raise the profile for caster weavers as for a lot of players caster mist has become synonymous with a bad player and you are proof that's not true.
Ease, comfort, safety, yep! Our HPS isn't limited by as many factors, like area denial on melee-unfriendly fights, whether we're able/unable to hit multiple enemies, and it's not dependent on a melee rotation. Less skill required for sure if we're playing more casually but still want to put out big HPS. I think it can really depend on who we run with, since caster doesn't offer as much in raid if every other healer is also pumping 1.5mil HPS, or in high keys if everyone's interrupting and avoiding all the damage they should be - situations where raw HPS isn't needed as much. But in my experience, and probably a lot of players', people make mistakes, they take extra damage, they forget their defensives, so if we can just ramp away and fix all of that, then that's great. :D
It seems a lot safer! I just pick it up I usually just resto but I had my brew around and I like the melee component but it is nice to have a casting style in my back pocket! I like rolling around punch and kicking mobs in the face lol!great video I enjoyed it!
@@dirkgoodman4282how is it harder? Really wondering. I’m no expert and I’ve mostly played ranged caster MW and based off of assumptions and limited experience I’ve found/thought fist-weaving was more difficult.
@@benkelly7182 I'd disagree about casting being harder, playing caster spec "perfectly" (whatever that means) might be as hard as anything else, but in general it's really flexible and forgiving as long as we're hitting our buttons. In most content we can do huge HPS just freestyling with our ramps and CDs in whatever way feels natural. 👍
Im a fistweaver Stan and lover....this feels boring no offense but since i get this video on my feed i Will try it. One doubt...you dont do any dps right? Keep up the great work!

I didn t know that caster MW was playable in m+ keys, for me who plays with balance druid and hunter in party it was always big headache to properly heal one of them (in fistweaving) since im in meele and they are standing in big range, abilities just don t always reach both of them.
Hopefully this build will fix my problem with group and finally they wont complain that my healing is bad T-T
Can you link character profile from raider io, really interested to check logs from m+ and raid to compare and improve my healing =)
(speaking completion or timing, I simply can't get through the second boss in NW on an 11 or the duo bosses in stonevault, not saying it's all me, not saying it isnt all me lol)
All in all, im stoked to see so many new MW content creators, Megasett and LB are great and all, but seeing other high ranking monks running different specs is pretty darn cool too.
Can u please explain for me why sometimes i use my jade after focus tea do full healing for everyone and sometimes it doesnt. What am i doing wrong?
I've heard a few people say it bugs sometimes, but I haven't noticed anything. If you're spec'd into Jadefire Teachings and you use lightning within 15 seconds of using TFT it should do a lot of healing, as long as it's hitting multi targets and they're not dying mid-channel, if it isn't I'm not sure why :(
Hi :-) how is the dps in M+ with this casting build? I am trying to achieve 300k dps to help out the group. It’s a big game changer on the timer!
Go bind all your buttons... please
The dark arts.
how are you tracking chi harmony? i cant find any way to make it work since they merged the talent into RM. what is the ID?
wago.io/KWCsPzg4X I think this is the WA I found originally, then all I did was change to the old icon (1381294). It's a little weird with the shorter CHs made by Rapid Diffusion procs, where the countdown isn't always accurate, but it's worked well enough for what I need it for!
Wanted to ask the same question
is casting better than fist?
I'm not as familiar with fist but I'd say casting is higher HPS!
In PUG that's makes it the best build.
but most people dont play peer into mist in raid now with 11.0.5 so the playstyle is pretty much entirely different
I've always played caster
Monk healer it's a joke how much healing you can pump out, and how few people actually try it as its not on any guides.
The whole point of this is for people who don't want to do the melee part of MW - it works just fine. :D
@lunolarks9792 it's definitely viable in m+ I agree. Definitely a fun optimization
Awesome vid but green party frames? MY EYES!!!
Haha sorry! I'd set them to class colors but that's always felt distracting/disorienting to me. 😂
I love the slaps and kicks. I do around 600k hps and 150k dps as a 609 fistweaver. I can shoot my heals higher if need be but if that’s the case, we all usually die anyway and end up not timing the key
@@scottadavis8086 damn those are extremely low numbers
@@chase8020 yea I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. I’m parsing green in heals and blue to purple in damage. Ntm we have a 619 h priest and a 615 evoker. They suck up all the heals. So I do ten times the damage as they do.
@scottadavis8086 you just confirmed what I said with your comment lmao. Anything below 99 is irrelevant
I really loved your guide. I decided to play healler in TWW and hated that every tutorial or guide for mistweaver was about healling through "slaps n kicks".
Then you didn’t really look very hard.
@@1aml3g3nd13 well, I'm kinda lazy, so you're right.
Thanks! Icyveins is pretty good about supporting Tear of Harmony builds now, but in some other places - especially when it's about healing M+ - people still talk down at people wanting to play caster.
@@AAChaveiro that’s fair lol
Why haste?
More healing/faster ramps while our amplifiers are up!
@lunolarks9792 aw man I've been stacking crit and vers since dragonflight season 1 lol. I'll maybe swap it up now to see
One thing that wasn't explained, why play caster?
Im a fistweaver Stan and lover....this feels boring no offense but since i get this video on my feed i Will try it. Keep up the great work!
It may look and sound boring but you should try it and see what u think. It's a bit harder to play than fistweaving
You have the new sith lord lighting channel
I don't do any real sustained DPS outside of Jade Empowerment procs with lightning, but so far that's been fine for casual mythic prog and +10 keys. :D
Those raid frames not being in class colours hurts my brain! The disco puke green is such an awful colour too
lol sorry! 😂
its amazing how can you heal 10-11 keys with such a disgusting UI, get at least CELL
Thank you for not being a lemming! 😄
I use to only cast heal as a mw, but since season 2 of df, I only fist weave. I fist weave in my heroic raids.
Nice! I like what they've done with FW even though I don't play it. Almost all of the mistweaver changes/reworks since S1 of DF have been great.
