This video was just the one i need for the problem with our transmission.
Very helpful video. Thank u. I was able to fix my wifes car and save a couple hundred at the same time by doing it myself.
Thanks man, this saved me a lot of money.
I'm guessing this is for an automatic. 03 manual won't go into reverse. I need a video for that one
I do have PO705. on 00 ford focse was going to change the T R sensor but I'll take our info and post back to you. thanks for video
Make sure you have the part number with you if you order it from Ford Parts. If you just say "Transmission Solenoid A" they might come up with the other (bigger) transmission solenoid instead, and that one costs $200+, instead of just $50. I had to persuade him that wasn't the right one and the rep had to look it up on the computer and print out a diagram to make sure.
If the trans was "slipping" it's not a solenoid issue. Since you have the solenoid, put it in....fill the trans with fresh fluid, put a new filter on, and add one bottle of Lucas Transmission stuff. It'll release anything that's being caught and will make your trans last longer. I've used Lucas on all sorts of trans problems...it works very well
If I'm having to go in there to replace solenoid A,but my kit came with A & B, should I just go ahead and replace both while I'm in there? Great video. Thanks for uploading this.
So true. The people at Ford almost never get it right...it does take persuasion to get the right part. I started ordering mine from ebay. There are genuine Ford parts for about half the cost.
I know it's been a while since you did this video, but can you tell us what trouble symptoms you were having with your transmission or any trouble codes you had that led you to this repair as a fix?
I got a package on ebay with all 6 solenoids and replaced the 3 smaller ones but can't get the 3 larger ones out. Is there a trick to getting them out or are they not to worry about?
Eric, my transmission light stays on, the fluid is very thin. I took it to a mechanic friend and he mentioned the solenoid also. It loses first gear then when it does shift into second it's a hard shift (kick). Only second gear kicks so I pray it is the solenoid. I just spent $1000 getting it legal again (lots of tickets from other people driving my car, taxes and tags, etc). I guess I should hook up a diagnostic to it to make sure about the error code before I do this? Thanks, great video.
@fullautocare . I have a 03 focus . it starts in 2nd gear and when I stop at stop sign or light, it shifts hard down into 1st year . engine code is po765 . solenoid D . would u recommend me changing this with the problems I'm having ? thanks
Computer said solenoid A was bad and solenoid B plug was not connected. Replaced both solenoids, changed fluid, gasket, and filter to be sure. Still isn't shifting properly. Now the check engine and wrench lights are on. What could it be? (2008 Ford Focus S)
Erik,
I have same 2003 Ford focus featured in your video. Took the car in to run the codes and it said "Solenoid A malfunction in 4th gear." I'd like to go ahead and follow your video.
What part kit did you buy?
Where is the best place to order from?
I have a 2005 Ford Focus ZX4 SE and I was at a light and when I stepped on the gas to go it just started screeching really loud and wouldnt go. I never had a wrench light come on the dash board or anything like that. Any ideas?
If it does that for only one gear, then it's safe to say that the solenoid is the culprit. If it's hard shifting in other gears too, there's something else going on in there. Try the solenoid...and when you fill the trans back up, use one bottle of "Lucas Transmission Fix" along with the trans fluid...then see where you're at.
thanks man i appreciate it. could this also work for the p0751 code? also where can i get a diagram for the labling of the other solenoids (C,D,E....)?? THANKS AGAIN!
Thanks for the quick respones. My focus was slipping , however the slipping went away
Is it possible the solenoid got un-stuck ? I already orderd the part from ford. I think i
will change it out anyway. What do you think ? also the Ford poeple told me to use a liquid gasket , dose it make ay diffrence?
have 2007 ford focus that won't shift into 3rd gear. No codes were given when ran diagonistic on it. Any suggestions? Anything else besides selenoids, fileter and oil change we can try?
FelipeyMartha Martinez how to replace shift solenoids in a 99 F-150 4 are 75 trans automatic transmission
and the code p0753 wich is the solenoid ,because I can^t identifiat
Well I replaced A,B, solenoids & still have the same problem. I'm lucky enough to have a second car, So it not a big problem right now. I did however talk to several shops & it points to the axles. So I removed them and there fine, so its in the transmission. What would be the rear end of a front wheel car is probably whats damaged. So I'm going to put in a used trans, & hope for the best.
great video i have mazda 3 that gives p0771 error cod. change de sol. E but continius error code, thanks
I have a 2002 focus . So u don't have to drop the transmission to change the overdrive scelonid
Would you happen to have the part number for the solenoid?? GREAT Video! Thanks....
my first gear, shifts hard, and shifts down from 2nd down hard as well. Any thoughts. I do have check engine on, but nothing says about transmission. I have to drive very smoothly so it doesn't shift hard.. I'm thinking its the selonoids. mine is 2002 (dohc) Automantic loaded. Anybody have same hard shifting issues.. particularly the first two gears
What was the car doing? I have a 2001 focus that shifts from 1st to 2nd fine but wont always shift to 3rd kicks it in to nutral. Is this what was happening to you?
intermediate/overdrive band could be broke chk that first 2/4 gear hard shifting or no shifting
Try the fluid/filter change after you check to see if the fluid is at the correct level..."Lucas Transmission Fix" is like a dream in a bottle when you change fluid/filter along with it.
You did not clean all the black and dirty debris for the bottom of the oil pan?
This Car Shifts 1 2 3 Normally...but it would never shift into overdrive. The problem you're having is in the transmission itself, or in the valve body. Solenoid problems usually make the car "just not shift", I don't think it'll make it shift to neutral.
my gears are sliping and they kick in very ruffly and my reverse dnt work wat do u think is the problem
use a regular gasket unless you don't have a choice. I wouldn't want to chance a bit of that stuff coming off and drying somewhere inside the trans. There's no real pressure in there, so you shouldn't ever have a gasket issue using the regular gasket that comes with the filter.
I have a 2002 ford Focus ZX5...when getting on it hard and the trans down shifts, it feels like the trans is about to dismount from the engine....any idea's anyone?
Hi...I like your video.
My brother has a 2004 Focus that gives a P0734 error code. It slips from gear to gear, but will run fine on a flat surface, but slips again badly and won't go into gear when it climbs a hill. Is this a solenoid problem or something more serious? The PO734 says "Poor connection at transmission" or "Internal transmission problem".
Also, the check engine light comes on when it slips, but goes off and stays off after he turns off the car and then starts the car again. But then the check engine light will come on again if he tries to maintain speed up a hill, with the transmission again slipping out of gear.
The only way to climb a hill is to NOT try to keep speed up a hill.
Would it be okay to drive the car in Overdrive, by engaging the button on the gear shifter, which lights the green light on the dash?
Thank you very much for any help. - )
Prob torque converter clutch discs are worn or the the torque converter clutch solenoid is bad, remove the wire to the torque converter clutch(tcc) and see if the problems go away, or maybe tcm is bad
I wouldn't hurt, but you're not going to get enough of it to keep you from making a mess when you take the pan off. Just crack one end of the pan and pull it down with one bolt still attached...it's easy, and the fluid doesn't go everywhere.
I have a 2005 focus wagon zxw with 76k miles on it and never had any problems with until yesterday. I gave the right of way to a guy coming out of a gas station. When I gave it gas, it went about 20ft then it felt like it shifted into park because it made that noise like when you throw it in park before you come to a complete stop. So now it wont move at all in any gear? Any ideas?
What did you figure out with your car.. my son is having the exact same problem with his car..
On a 2000 ford focus which solenoid is c?
you sound like Vince the Sham-wow guy!
Hi
it´s a good video.. I have got a ford focus 99 1.6 automatic. I have problem in shifting when the car is hot at the second gear .. I pulled the codes out .. I have got p0732
what do you think the problem is in this transmission ?
I have got another focus same problem and also it doesn't get the overdrive !
Thank you :)
If you read this,…did the solenoid fix your issue? Having similar problems.
If the car refuses to shift into overdrive, but everything else seems ok...it's most certainly the solenoid. Also, The (Check Engine Light) code will tell you that the solenoid is not working properly.
Hey man u still here I have a question about this car
What soleniod may effect shifting from 3rd to over-drive.It doesn't slip but rpms go up,then it shifts if I let up on gas or I have to push over-drive button, after I to make it stay in 3rd
What solenoids can be changed w/o pulling transmission pan?An auto repair man said he changed two of them, but he didn't pull pan, said that was next step.
I got the same symptom
did you fix it.
was it the A solenoid ?
@@deanl0 probably need to change A AND E
HI TALLSTARLITE,HAVE THE SAME PROLEM WIT MY 2000 FOCUS WONT GO INTO ANY GEAR NO,R,D,1,2....WHAT FIX YOUR PROBLEM?WAS IT THE SOLENOIDS?
JONATHAN CABRERA was it the solenoids for reverse
how do you test and know that solenoid is bad.
It looks like you didnt bother to clean the pan or the magnet
I've done this and the car still wont shift into third. Is there any other problem that can cause these symptoms
Did you ever figure that out I have same problem
Joey Degregory no, i ended up selling the car to a friend he just replaced the entire transmission.
That's a transmission problem I had to get my 2010 transmission repaired as well
