      Hi, sir. Please I need names of animals in categories, wild, domestic, insects... And thier male female babies and home where they live in American accent. Or at least without and accent.
      Because I looked on UA-cam and all what I find is Indian. I can't het it. Each one give diffrent names like donkey called mule. I really feel sick🤢 I search for days and nothing new. I need them eargently😩

    I thought it is only my country that professors can’t teach us how to teach, but now I know many of us around the globe are struggling with the fact that university is all about theories and not about practicing in real situations. Thanks a lot. Keep on the good work.

      Thank you Amir! That is exactly how I felt top. I was surprised that no one was sharing ideas and resources on how to be good teachers. In the next year I will do my best to share the best information and ideas to help teachers around the world. Thank you for your support! I really appreciate it. 😃🙏

    • @Oscarious

      @@magdalenekatiti6650 Hi. We had. The problem was that the professors wanted to see us applying their favourite theories in our classes, not the applicable ones according to the real situation. In addition, we never had a course for class management, so we had to learn it by experience in only 6 sessions of teaching during internship.

    Next week I'll be giving my first class to highschoolers. I'm not a teacher, just a student, and I will teach this class the entire year despite not having or persuing a teaching degree. The school can't find a qualified math teacher so the class is without a teacher atm. It sucks for them being without a math teacher, I know I wouldn't have loved math if it wasn't for my great teacher. I feel like everyone should get great math education, so I want to be the best teacher I can. Thanks for the videos!

    • @gplus46

      well. How'd you do

    • @wallflower6942
      @wallflower6942 6 місяців тому

      @@gplus46 Honestely it has ups and downs (still teaching). It was VERY difficult the first 2-3 months, but luckily the children were all really nice and wanted to learn. I still teach those kids and it is going fairly well still! Im really happy with how it went with them. I was able to inspire many of them to have a deeper interest in maths and the class scores really well compared to other classes. Having a great bond with them really helped.
      After this group I got another group of kids which was wayyyy harder. They are very difficult to control and they live/love to challange my authority. Honestly that group has sucked out much of the joy I had in teaching. They proved that I still have SO MUCH to learn about many aspects of teaching. I feel like I failed the well behaved kids in this class, by not properly keeping control of the other kids that want to make chaos. I became really strict with all of them, which really ruined our bond over time. Oh well, we live and we learn.

    I also like to point out that not making eye contact with students can convey to them that their presence is not important and the teacher doesn't have time to acknowledge them, especially if a student is shy or has low self-esteem.

    Much good stuff here. This video is excellent. I'm a substitute teacher and I will integrate many tips from this video as I'm constantly facing new students.. I like the idea of standing in the middle of class as they walk in and making eye contact and keeping that contact until a student looks away. I like the reciting of rules especially respect everyone around you and be quiet when another person is speaking, then asking students to repeat those rules- I would keep it simple and use those two important rules. I like the idea of saying 3,2,1 then I will expect everybody to be quiet. And the practice interviewing a classmate then having each student introduce that person to the class is a fun idea when I need to fill time. About the eye contact, the John F Kennedy speech class he had at Harvard emphasized the importance of eye contact with a key saying- "don't talk to anything that can't talk back to you". That even if you are scanning a group from person to person dont begin speaking until you make eye contact with somebody.

    I have a question, how do we engage different ages into learning styles? Not just one particular class and not just one particular lesson. A curriculum created to create the whole entire class introduction mass. You have great points, but it's so hard to make sure a student is paying attention entirely. Being a student, I always thought I had a hard time being one of the many to pay attention to what I can't pay attention to in class. Thanks for the video lesson this helped a lot.

    I agree that a teacher is the one who is the leader in class. I also agree that the teacher should be strict. When I was a student, strict teachers were always the ones who gave the most knowledge. Nowadays, a lot of teachers want to be more like a friend to their students and they want them to always have fun. You can be friendly and you can have fun, but I do believe that there must be boudaries between you and the students, and when people learn, it is necessary to have some activities that are not always "fun": reading, grammar, etc. So, it is a balance.

    Very interesting video. As a quick question, what would be your advice for designing a 5-6 minute demo self-introduction to a class of young students who don't speak English? I have been working on it for a few days, but it is proving more difficult than I originally thought, as I don't have access to any materials.

    • @etacude
      @etacude  5 років тому +28

      Often teacher overthink and overplan lessons... 5 min is very quick. Do a quick intro, ask them some basic questions to show how it is done and ask them to think of questions they want to ask you. If you have time you can let them practice with a partner.
      Remember, you are the focus, they want to get to know you. So use yourself as the content. For example: Write down 5 facts of yourself on the board. Age, hobby, dislike, favorite food. Ask students what each one means. Then how to ask the question: How old are you? Then ask them to write down their 5 facts. Very easy and it'll eat up your 6 min.
      Don't worry, focus on the basics and it'll be fine! 😄

    Hello there! This is some excellent advice. I was wondering about your pair interviews: Do you repeat the exercise, or do you have, for example, one 4 minute exercise where A interviews B for 2 minutes then B interviewws A for 2 mins, and THEN you have each person talk about their partner in front of the class? Do you ask every student a question; it seems like it'd be easy to run out of questions though.

    • @etacude
      @etacude  2 роки тому +1

      Usually it takes too long for all the students to present their friend to class. So I let the play rock-paper-scissors to decide. Loser presents, winner asks me a question. I return the favor by asking another question or the same back to him. So you don't have to think of all the questions.

    Thank you for your tips, this really helped. I am a new teacher and will start in a school in Taipei in two weeks. I am super nervous as I have never taught in a classroom before (only virtually one on one). I will be teaching English and I am scared about some of their questions. Even though I am familiar with the grammar and how to explain things, there is things that I still need to look up or simply just don't know. What do you do when they ask you a question and you don't know the answer? I am scared they will eat me alive with questions and I will have a blank look on my face. HA! :)
    Thank you!

    • @etacude
      @etacude  4 роки тому +4

      I get this question a lot. Most teachers are afraid of looking incompetent in front of their students. The best way to deal with it is to say "I'm not so sure about that. Let me look it up to make sure and I'll let you know in the next class."
      Say it with a smile.
      Students don't need you to be perfect, but they need you to be a strong leader.
      Don't worry about what you don't know or can't do. Focus on what value you bring to them, how you can help them and what knowledge you can share.
      Have fun and be confident!

    These are good tips! Kind of what I had in mind all ready. I will start tomorrow with a class of 9 year olds and it can be hard when they have changed so many teachers to set new rules and routines. I’m a bit nervous because this class has a bad rep on the school for being unruly, but I will try my best to take them into fourth grade next year :)

    • @etacude
      @etacude  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Ngãn. So when they introduce themselves I ask them questions. For example if they say their hobby is playing soccer I'll ask them who their favorite team is. If they say they have a brother, ask them what his name is, or when his birthday is.
      By doing this it shows them that you are the boss in the class and they answer to you. It also trains them to be more responsive in class.

    My kids are 16-19 years old....almost adults. How do I set rules and 'persuade' them to adhere? Wont they just get annoyed if I set rules? They might feel Im bossing them or that they are too old/mature for rules?

    • @etacude
      @etacude  4 роки тому +3

      Good question! Don't think of rules coming from a strict parent to children. Remember, even in adult or teengage games on the playground there are rules. ~ without rules there would be chaos. So in order for them to learn in a good environment they need to know and follow the rules to make it fair to everybody. So change the way you think of rules ~ they don't inhibit your students, they give them freedom to learn and play in a fair class. 😊😄
