Nice to see you! Love the idea of a collaged envelope to hold the bookmaker’s letter. I made a decorative letter to go on the inside cover of a fabric journal that I donated to a fundraiser auction. I took two definitions of a junk journal and pieced them together. Had all the info on it like yours. Thank you for a wonderful year of crafting. Look forward to watching more of your videos in 2023. Hi Joie! I hear you've been ill and (although you don'tknow me) I am hoping for the best for you. I am a 22 year survivor of pancreatic cancer (unheard of!) so never give up. I make a quick-to-read note on top of the journals, with the header, "IT FOUND YOU SO IT'S YOURS." Since I abandon all of my journals they need an 'elevator speech' visible from the outside to help finders know the journal was purposely placed there for them and not just lost. I do love your letters/holders for gifted journals as they are so beautiful in sentiment and appearance.

@@thecalicoheart7946 I anonymously leave all the journals I make at Little Free Libraries and the senior center free library for people to take. I've been making junk journals for about five years as a hobby since it encompasses almost all of my hobbies of making things for the last 55+ years. It's relatively inexpensive since I get most of my supplies from thrift shops and it's fun to follow such creators as Joie, Gayle Agostinelli, Natasa from Treasure Books, and Caroline's Craft Tree. The enjoyment I get from imagining the looks on people's faces when they find a gift handmade just for them is wonderful for me. Try it just once and you'll get a real kick out of it, I assure you.

@rachelle e , this is exactly what i'm researching right now. I leave crocheted critters around as random acts of kindness, & recently decided to start doing the same with journals/art books. Thought it might encourage ppl to do art, or expand someone's opinion of what art is/can be. You're the first person i've heard that's leaving journals as random acts of kindness. So awesome!

This project is gorgeous! Love the bookmaker’s letter idea. Thank you for this post. Oh by the way I am the viewer with the glue sticks that wouldn’t glue. Recently found out it was because I had purchased several glue sticks that were almost dried out, like sticks of rock candy. Finally bought a new one and it made a world of difference. What a wonderful way of telling someone who's never encountered a junk journal before why it looks like it does and how to use it. I have friends and family who have no idea what these journals are like and it's made me hesitate giving them one... because I live a long way away from each of them and can't hand it to them and explain as I do.
