Great one for the big coffee table books. xx
Indeed....broke my Hoarder's Heart to do it but I'm drowning in books 👍🏻💜🍄
@@joiedefi I have a couple old map books, this is great for those! Thanks Joie xx
Hi Jose. I really enjoy your Tutorials. I learn a lot. Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome Nancy 🥰
@@joiedefi I understand that! I love using the pieces I have but I don’t like seeing my stash dwindle.
A large coffee table book. You mean a journal large enough for the coffee table? Is there a video? I just joined this channel and haven’t gone through the videos yet.
I'm binge watching. I want to help hold your place on here until you are able to be here again. YOU are that voice that you told us to find❤
I have never done this kind of thing before and found your channel this week as I was trying to unwind. I have ephemera and papers and I love French botanicals and nature illustrations. I’m diving into my stuff again and made a pocket card like this tonight for my mom along with you to encourage her through a hard time. I put a feather in it and a scripture that was printed on a card that says He will cover you with His feathers. It all turned out so lovely. Thank you for what you do, it’s given me some hope and contentment at night when anxiety runs high.
Jane in Alabama, USA
That sounds beautiful Jane..... ❤️❤️❤️
Simply lovely, Joie! And so functional, too! I love the way you explain your process, and give us suggestions and options to make the project our own. Hugs, love and thank you!!!❤❤❤
July 9/ 2024..I found some nice map pages. Thanks again Joie. My thoughts are always with you...many hugs. Stay safe and keep going forward. I'm here praying for you. 🤗🤗🙏 Lord send an angel down for comfort through the evening and all through the night. 😇
Hello Friend, loveing this video. Oh my goodness, the more you add the more I get excited to craft again. I love that you have chosen to get a sewing machine. I have been sewing since I was 10 year old! I'd create doll clothes. I then moved on to create my girls dresses. Now I use it primarily for paper crafting. I saw that first, was Gayle. Then I found Rachel uses one. Wendy and on and on. Before I fell ill, I used my machine at least once a day. Your machine sounds like a really good one. Well done taking the "plunge!!" I would add something sewn to every journal.
Thanks Cheryl...I really love my little sewing machine, even though unlike you, I am a beginner 😁💜🍄
Of all the pockets styles I have seen I love this one. I would probably add vintage photo. The leaves were great too.
Vintage photo...yes!! 😁👍🏻💜
November 13..2023.💚
The fish is so clever since it's sitting on the ocean paper. These are just wonderful. I love them! You also have superb tutorials, showing us each step so clearly. Many thanks.
Thanks so much Jamie!!💜🌿
I’m a poorly girl today and bed bound, I can’t sleep because of the pain and though I’ve watched all your videos many times, I just wanted to listen to your lovely comforting voice.
So sorry to hear that you aren't well Amy. If my voice can help them that's good....take care 💜💜💜
Love it...sewing on paper..like an old printing press!
Exactly 😊❣️👍🏻🌿
Thank you Joie for sharing this fantastic tutorial. I also have a huge atlas that I bought at a charity store. My husband thought I was crazy, but I knew it was a book, that I would find that special something to do with it. Thanks to you I have now that very something. I'm sure it will get me inspired to use it more now that I've started.
It was only a matter of time.... And now its purpose is clear 😄😄😄
One of my favorites! I use it often for the inside front cover of journals. I love to use my old map books!
Splendid!!❤️
Visualizing the sewing process is motivating. Good angle shot!
Ooooh, thank you!!
I Love coming back to you & refreshing myself on how to make these wonderfuL map envelopes . Thanks Joie 👍🤗🌺🌟🌈☮️🥰
Oooh that's fabulous!!😁💜
Wow! I am so impressed with your video! I have been binge watching many different artists, and yours goes above and beyond. You are a born teacher, but I also appreciated your beautiful workspace, the lovely background music, even your nicely manicured hands. I also appreciated that you stuck to explaining what you were doing, in detail, and didn't go on about your private life. Very well done! Count me in. 😊
Awww Mindy....what can I say...😁 Welcome, and thank you!! 💜💜💜
Very well done- easy to follow. I fill pockets with tags and cards, envelopes just like you have. I also include a copy of an old postcard from the town where I live( I have a collection from my Great Grandmother) late 1800’s to early 1900’s. Sometimes a handmade ATC- original art. I tend to try to be original - not use digital prints - they are beautiful but everyone uses them. I like to be me.
That sounds just perfect to me 👍🏻😁🍄💜
Loved this. Now I'm just addicted to this!
Aaah, that's brilliant!! Thank you 😊❤️
Hi Joie, these pockets are great, both for sending happy mail and in journals. Atlas papers are one of my fav too. Regarding your sewing machine, try good quality needles, if you want to do more layers of paper then needles intended for jeans might become your best friends. Where as for thin papers needles for silks are way better. Often it is not the machine itself, but the needles that make the difference.
Great advice Maud, I didn't know that, thank you!! 🍄❣️
Using this pocket again. I love it because it covers almost a whole page. And I have purchased a big Atlas like yours and I just love it the colors are so beautiful. Thank you for this idea missing you loving you please be well soon as you can and I know you will do your best
How amazing that I forgot about this pocket. And I just love it. It's time for me to start feeling the journal I made in your style blessings and love from New Mexico
This is really great. I am eyeing off the very ancient atlas on the bookshelf. Thank you for the lovely clear instructions.
Go for it Marija!! 😁👍🏻💜🍄
Absolutely gorgeous ❤
Thank you for sharing this. I have just cleaned out my parents house and I am now swimming in old books of all kinds to use for my art and junk journals, including several old large atlases. This is perfect. I'll have to go watch your video showing your book stash. I missed it! 😍
Sounds like a great way to reduce that book pile😁😁😁
Love the effect of DIY glitter spray. I make it with iso alcohol and hairspray. It dries quickly and doesn’t warp paper as easily.
Great Idea
love this pocket. just pulled a folio full of old maps and paperbacked atlas pages that were from my Fathers desk and airplane. Such a great way to use some of these heavier papers. Hope you are having nice evening!
You too Susan 😁💜
aww here we go again... gotta get out all the yummy paper and start making these! EEEK what fun! Thanks for sharing! you are so creative!
And I'll be using lots of scraps too 😁👍🏻💜
You are an inspiration - and an excellent teacher! Thank you!
Wow!! Thank you 🥰
Fabulous pockets! My heart is torn in a million and one directions--I wish to make more lovely paper pockets, continue knitting a new pair of socks, and starting another quilt. This lovely tutorial makes my choice difficult, dearest Joie.
Aaahh, such difficult choices 😁😁😁👍🏻🍄💜
Brilliant, I’ve got loads of paper and card left from my card making days and lots of pretty paper stacks, thankyou for sharing a way to make use of them and all my scraps in my scrap boxes. I wasn’t looking forward to throwing out the scraps and now I don’t have to. Really enjoying your videos, I’ve made a few small journals and am also a beginner at sewing. Thanks again x
Sounds like we're on the same journey June!😁👍❤️❤️
I am so glad your making this. I have been saving my daddy’s old Atlas. He passed away in 2009 and I can remember him having this since I was a little girl. This will be so special to make for journals for my grandkids.
I totally understand.... Indeed I do...💜💜💜
I like to watch again to make sure I know what I'm doing so I get it I'll make some when I take a break from sewing.👍🏾🟧😊💜
Well done Joie. Have a great day🦋
You too!! 😁💜💜💜
I can’t thank you enough for sharing your beautiful thoughts for JJs. I’m still unwell but I got to say, it’s been a blessing for me to have a blessed tutorial by Joie in order to help me know what to have ready that I don’t have. Love you Joie 🌷
You're so very welcome ❣️❣️❣️
I love watching your process. You are a teacher. I do love to sew on paper as well. I just can't sew a straight line! 😆 so I like to sew crooked on purpose in my junk journals. Looks pretty on tags too. Hugs from Louisiana!
Crooked works for me!!! Hello Louisiana, welcome to my channel Sandra Jennings 😁👍🏻🍄💜
You are so new to me joie de fi but I am so stoked by the inspiration you have given to me! I have been very slow in catching onto the postings of many of the journal videos but you have changed all that for me! I am so loving your channel.
Wow, that's fantastic!! Thanks very much, welcome to my channel, welcome on board!!🤩👍🥰
Hello Joie, what a fun pocket to make. Easy mass making pocket I think. Thanks for sharing your new pocket with us.
Good idea for mass making, I agree 😁👍🏻❣️
You are the pocket queen! Good job 👍.
Awww shucks.....Well thanks anyway 🤭🤭🤭👍🏻💜🍄

You're very welcome!!
Love this page🥰❤️
Awesome!! I'm using one of these pockets in my next video this weekend....works really well in the inside cover of my Collaged Junk Journal 👍🏻😁💜
Great job Joie, as always! 💕
Thank you!!👍💜🥰
A fun pocket!
Awesome!! 😁👍🏻💜🍄
So pretty and versatile!
I hope so 😁👍🏻💜🍄
Nuevamente "FELICIDADES", me alegra saber que usted está bien.
Gracias por compartir y regalar momentos de alegrías.
Hasta otra ola marinera.
Thank you so much Trini 👍🏻😁💜💜💜🍄
These are fabulous! You are fabulous! Am going to have to put these on my ti do list. I have a journal and list the project, who did it and where to find it. Sometimes things jump to the head of the line LOL. I almost always end up watching your videos more than once LOL. Appreciate your teaching style, too. I will glue mine and put the faux stitching you you showed us. This has been posted to Pinterest, so others wilk find you! TFS. God bless and stay well.
Lol!! Appreciate the Pinterest post!! I'm editing a video at this very moment and I have to say, this is probably the hardest work in the process. So the timing and content in your note is just perfect!! 😁💜👍🏻
Thanks for the inspiration
Hope you are doing better. 🤗🤗😊❣️💙
Like this idea. Hopefully remember to use it now. Tfs
Thanks Bette-ann 😁💜
Wonderful ideas. Thank you for sharing your time and talent. Hugs 🤗 DarvaDee USA 🇺🇸

Definitely do Sherry 😊❣️
Lovely, Joie. Thank you.
You're very welcome Barbara, lovely to see you here again 😁💜🌿
I absolutely love what you’ve created with these pockets! The tutorial was straightforward and easy to understand, and there’s a million different ways these can look. I’m glad to see a neat way to use my big atlas pages.
Very kind of you...it feels good to use our books like this doesn't it? Thanks for popping by to watch.... hope to see you here again soon 😁💜🍄
These are very pretty, and the possibilities are endless on what can be put in the pockets. Thank you 🙂.
Exactly!! 👍🏻😁💜🍄
Love these pockets, the more spaces the better😁😁 wonderful tutorial as always. Thank you for sharing xo
Aww Lorelle, thank you!! 💜💜💜
A really nice video and project. I have sewn on fabric for 57 years, so I'm not sure if I will like the sound of sewing on paper. But I will try it to make some great pockets.
Let me know how you get on Sally!!😁👍💜
Love this so much! It is so helpful when you share the reasons for some of your choices and steps. I am a questioner and your “reasons”
always help me have a more complete understanding! Thanks!
Very helpful for me to hear that 😁💜
Great pockets, I like big so will fit my journals a treat 😁😁❤️ thanks Joie xx
Awesome 👍🏻 thanks Elaine....I could see them in your journals....will watch out for a video on your UA-cam channel 😁🍄🌟
Oh my gosh Joie!! YES!! I live the sound of a sewing machine stitching on paper!! I thought I was the only person in the world who heard it!! Loving you even more in the Southern California desert, MK ❤☀️🌵
Well hello again Emm!!! We like everything about our papercrafting.....how are you doing? Always a pleasure to see you here... I'm waving over to you in Southern California👍🏻😁💜 joie 🌿
I have made some of these, I I use them as a card, and put notes of a variety of kinds in the pockets as an encouragement note kind of thing., verses and such, those to whom I had sent these, have use them as book marks and in their purses and the like, they are truly great fun and useful;\.
What a fantastic idea....I think I might have to share that idea. Brilliant 👍 thank you Cynthia 💜🍄
I love this! I’m going to make one today. To go in my folder that I will create after I make the items to go inside. I’ve created the large substrate for the folder. I’ve been under the weather. I’ve used the down time to watch movies and make substrates on a TV tray. It’s so relaxing.
I agree, it's definitely relaxing. Hope you feel better very soon!💜💜
I like this idea. Thank you for sharing.
You're very welcome Yolanda, thanks for stopping by to watch!! 😁👍🏻🍄💜

Nice video. Great instructions. Easy to follow. Really nice pockets.
Wonderful!! Thank you 😊❣️
I really appreciate your clear instructions. I am a beginner. Tina @ Shabbydabbydodah mentioned your channel. I am so glad she did!
Aww, that's lovely. I love Tina's channel too...always happy and chirpy!!❤️👍
I love your style. This project is beautiful
Thanks Robert, very kind of you! Welcome, hope to see you here again soon!!😁👍🏻
Those are so neat - can't wait to do one myself. I've got an atlas that's just right. Lately I'm using a lot of business cards, altered or plain, to put in my pockets. And price tags. They come in all sizes, colors and the motifs can be so pretty. For example, I bought an umbrella and the tag has a picture of a gold umbrella. Never noticed how cool tags are until I started collecting therm. Sometimes I just use a safety pin and maybe some twine and attach. I can see them in these pockets. :-)
Fantastic upcycling Kathleen. Love that idea!! 😁👍🏻💜🍄
Hello there,
Watching you create & listening was like you telling me a fairy story.
Much love, Australia 🐨🥰
Much love in return Lisa. What a beautiful country you live in..... hope you are staying safe. Joie 💜🌿🍄
I think these are great. Just starting to learn these cuties and love your videos. I would probably don't some for Christmas and put journaling cards in a pocket or two and maybe some tea pouches or hot chocolate and send them as happy mail
I think that's a fabulous idea!!!!❤️
This is awesome, first time making pockets and making a journal ♥🙋🏻♀
Thanks so much!!! So pleased that you enjoyed this!😀👍🌹
Such a wonderful idea. Thank you for the tutorial.

Thanks very much!! 👍🏻❣️
Hi Joie, your Videos are always great, I can`t stop watching you -:)) I fill my pockets with the same things as you and sometimes with a special thing for the people who use the journal, especially if it`s a friend.
So good when a journal or pocket is personalised like that. Thanks for popping by to watch and for sharing your thoughts.....😁👍🏻💜🍄
Nicely done! Thank you
Glad you liked it!
Hello, Thank you so much ....you have brighted up my day ... I just love it! Will keep watching and check out ideas by you!

Thanks very much
Loved 🥰 it. I also love your style of junk journal ephemera, they are quite lovely 😊. I enjoy listening to your accent. Thank you for sharing. Also love the hard work you put into your video setup.
That's very much appreciated, thanks Melinda ❤️❤️
Oh yes, a chubby and lovely pocket full of goodies☺️ I would fill them with notes and letters because I really love writing my thoughts. The pocket itself is enough to be on its own. May it be a gift or a just a pretty container for my unsaid words☺️ thank you Joie!💖💖💖
Yes it could be a gift, or it could go at the back of a Junk Journal and be filled with ephemera. Whatever works for you!! 😁👍🏻🍄💜
@@joiedefi ☺️🙏💖💖💖
I have loved everything you have put up in the videos ....I have tried my hand at a few of your wonderful ideas ❤️thank you for sharing ❣️
Oooh that is just lovely Maria....thanks for letting me know. It sounds like you enjoyed yourself. Lots more to come.....😁💜
Really lovely, can't wait to try
Splendid... this has become one of my favourite videos too, if I'm allowed to say that 🤭🤭❤️
Another very enjoyable tutorial with very clear instructions. I can see how addictive these would be! Thank you Joie! :)
I could see your ephemera from your digi kits going neatly into one of these...your toadstool digi for example or some butterflies. Thanks for popping by Barbara..I'm following up on your recent Bullet Junk Journal video this week too. So much to do!! I'm loving it:) hugs, joie xx
Enjoyed so much!! Learned a lot! Thank you ❤
You're very welcome
Great use of an atlas - I've been looking at mine for ages, wondering what to do....!
An honourable end to its days I think 😁💜👍🏻
@@joiedefi Yes indeed!
