Good insight into poches tactics especially when they are similar to Tuchels. Hopefully he can bring the same level of success to Chelsea! On another note, does anyone know the name of the instrumental playing in the background? 🔥🙏🏽
he's already "handled" by making Neymar play against 2nd division butchers' team, injured for 5 weeks now as he got literally beaten on the pitch, or handled Mbappe by making him play 2 times a week like he's a robot, even his national coach couldn't help but noticed he's tired. as a PSG fan, honestly, I wish he never managed them in the first place.
@@malabo10 I think they need a strong flexible tactician, which Ancelotti is, and somebody who understands Ligue 1, which he does. Lots of absent players all the time, need to outsmart coaches at CL. Ancelotti seems great to me too. The dressing room's quite difficult to manage, though. Pochettino was sold as a nice story of a former player coming back home, also a nice guy, but as for me, a manager must be an authority rather than a mate. Especially when it comes to managing the stars, so at some point the tail doesn't wag the dog.
@@catchblack455 Pochettino has shown his worth as manager with Tottenham. He follows Bielsa's philosophy which is fast attacking, dominant football with high tempo, one touch passing to create the build up and high pressure in defence. That kind of play is atttractive football and fits with PSG, which has world class players who are skilled and have an athletic physique to play this kind of intense football. And who said that he isn't authority? You should interview from Tottenham players who said that Poche wanted complete focus and dedication from the players to his tactics during training.
@@Stri4ker21 I agree it is attractive, just this kind of style doesn't fit PSG and some of their players, especially Neymar, leave alone the league, that's what I think. English football has been like this - muscular, aggressive, with lots of tackles, no wonder he's considered to be a great coach by the fans there at Spurs. However, someone as technically gifted as Ney, - such style of throwing attackers under the bus, exhausting intensity doesn't suit him, and the cup game is a pure evidence. Spurs' players were sick and tired of Pochettino by the end of his spell, they didn't even want to play for him anymore, he completely lost the dressing room in the end. Nobody can endure such intensity now in the long run, and especially when you don't win any trophy, let along this kind of worthless effort is unacceptable for PSG - they are there to win. The authority for the stars at PSG means a plan for a game they can trust, so if they do everything right and add their magic to the game , it will work out just fine, but we can see against Monaco, for example, Pochettino has no idea how to face that kind of teams. Pretty much any team that knows how to block Mbappe, or just brutally eliminate Neymar, or Veratti, or Icardi - he doesn't have a clue how to handle. They've seen some outstanding tactics with Tuchel, so if it doesn't work against Bayern now, you'll see, Pochettino, who, again, doesn't know how to play against Bayern, will lose their trust and respect. Neymar won't extent his contract after seeing what he's seen, he's not a punching bag after all. Mbappe's performance declining, based on those last two matched in selection, due to his physical and mental fatigue. I mean the players, they aren't stupid, they will figure out pretty soon what causes this exhaustion. So..he better deliver some damn good tactics that will bring actual consistent results, not just some high-intensity work outs, PSG isn't a fitness club after all, and they aren't training for a heptathlon.
"From the German pressing school" Man id love a tifo video about the history of this 'school' and where the philisophy came from and why German coaches adopted it. Was it always there and just went up a notch or was there a real effort to change the style or how they taught coaches/players.
The problem with high pressing teams is the fatigue they experience either at the end of season, the next season or if the rival scores a goal at the end of the match. Some good examples will be Getafe last season, Liverpool this season (I know they have a lot of injuries but some players also look like they need a break) or Liverpool against Atlético de Madrid or Atlético de Madrid against Real Madrid in last derby.
In Ndombele’s interview with Ali Gold recently he said Poch worked him harder in pre-season than he’d ever worked before. Basically destroying his legs to a point where he wasn’t sure he’d recover and wanted out immediately. Lo Celso felt a similar things and has carried injuries from that first pre-season with him still to this day. When the season ends and pre-season begins we’ll see who is really up to the challenge. I suspect a major overhaul coming.

The teams that have great success are mostly teams that stick to their style of play for most part of 90 mins and if things go sideways a good manager has a backup option. So a team with character would not play in a reaction to opponents but play to their strengths. Tuchel did that with Dortmund, PSG and is doing it with Chelsea he has a style of play finds the set of players who fit the formula and plays them without caring about any other thing except winning whereas coaches such as pocchetino, try to nurture talents and mould players into performing if this trick is successful it reaps heavy rewards but if it fails they face heavy backlash.
I was so confused by the hashtag 'UCL.' I was thinking 'wow, maybe some sports scientist from university college london are just incredibly involved in PSG'
As much as Pochettino might be doing well, I feel like Tuchel did an amazing job trying to combat a super strong Bayern side. I think Bayern is still better than PSG and they need something very special to stand a chance like they did last summer
@@danielhuisman1996 Yeah would definitely take an effort but that's the idea, last year Tuchel's effort was good and they had a chance at beating them. I even believe that if the offense and especially Mpabbe converted even one of the many chances they've gotten throughout the game before Bayern scored the narrative would've been very different. This year, they look very solid with Mauricio, and they're my bet, although I agree Bayern still is the n1 nominee by consensus.
It be interesting to see Pochettino manage the national team. Scaloni has improved but sooner or later his simplistic approach will get him in trouble against more experienced mangers though granted Argentina has yet to lose in qualifiers.
think we now require a Tuchel at Chelsea video as a follow-up. because for one, he's instantly abandoned that 4atb formation that he was so rigid in, and it would be worth analysing the contextual reasons as to why. and secondly, because jesus christ, they're fucking impervious... 2 goals conceded in 14 games despite playing Atletico twice alongside Liverpool, Man United, Tottenham and Everton is an astounding defensive record, and utterly unthinkable when Chelsea were conceded 11 goals in their first 7 games of the season.
