How about helping someone in need in your community? How about helping the homeless? How about helping orphanages? There's lots of ways you can make God happy.

@@MrCJesslinger God blesses people that he can bless people through. Your tithe is obedience, your offering is above and beyond. All make God happy so I don’t know what you mean. It sounds like your greedy saying na God helped them so I can keep my money. Your attitude is setting false opinions about Christianity because you want to keep “your share.”
@@fanofbama14 Please re-read what I wrote. An evidence of a false convert is that they DON'T give. But it is legalism to guilt congregants or fellow believers to a specific percentage.
Even so, the number 10% is not the full tithe that Israelites paid. A preacher with sound doctrine will have read the other portions of the OT concerning the tithe, which reveals the total is approximately 1/3 of yearly income.
Giving money in the NT is a heart issue, not a formula. Just as all the Mosiac Law was intended to. Jesus makes that concept clear when He tells us that not just anger, lust, etc outwardly is sin, but also the thoughts of anger, lust, etc is sin.
Your point is the classic guilt-trip that prosperity gospel false teachers use. Trying to "tithe" in order to force God to provide for your needs is even more greedy than the motivation you have falsely attributed to me. God already promises to provide for the basic needs of the believer. And giving to get more is a gross attempt to usurp the sovereignty of God, who brings both calamity and blessing, trial and joy, as He wills, for His purposes. Amos 3:6
Again, for the 3rd time, if a Christian isn't giving, that is strong evidence they are a false convert. Thanks, and prayers for any tricked into the Golden Calf of prosperity gospel. All should repent and submit to Christ's will no matter the outcome - trusting in His penal substitutionary atonement to save them from what we each deserve, eternal punishment in hellfire, because He is Holy. That is true conversion.
That's what we do. (We dont attend a physical church) but we do have money we set aside and give it to someone when they need it. It helps us feel good and we know the money is going to who needs it
@@MrCJesslinger You said none do good. God is happy just having a relationship with you. No one mentioned a percentage other than you. There is not a set amount. That is between you and God. The offering is above what God has put on your heart to give. It’s as simple as that. Your first comment makes no sense and your second comment is fighting an argument that we are on the same side of lol. You don’t tithe to force God to provide for you. That’s ridiculous because tithing is not the law of Christianity. My point is not the classic guilt trip. No one is required to give a set amount. Your time and your spiritual gifts are one thing nobody thinks to give to the kingdom.
So many comments here got it wrong. Charity and tithing are separate areas in my life in which I give my money. Tithing is to give money back to God and generous charity is to take care of those I love around me.

But I will continue to also live my life as an offering as well as support charitable causes. But there is a difference between tithing and charity.

Anytime I have money set back to give, I start praying without telling anyone. GOD makes it very clear, sometimes in a day, sometimes in a week, or sometimes longer. As soon as I give it I KNOW that was the right thing.
Donate to St Jude Children's Hospital, The Boys & Girls Club, etc. I think God would be ok with that, helping children have a better life.

Weekly drop offs at the food bank
Food banks would rather get the $$$. Allows them to purchase what they may need (rather than the 10th delivery of pasta sauce that day) or allows them to purchase more in bulk for cheaper.
You would be helping even more people by donating cash to the food bank.

I donate to local homeless shelter , this homeless shelter is in a roundabout way connected to a church. But it is a non religious shelter accepts all
I don’t have a home church. I do attend multiple services online. I set up a second account for Gods Money and put in my tithe in the account every payday. When the Lord leads me to give I do. I do take care that not too much gets built up before I move it to a worthy ministry.

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse (treasury of Israel as an income tax). A tithe is a tax to the nation, not giving to a church. Giving to a church is not a set amount of income but a mental attitude of generosity. God doesn’t need our money.

@@girlygirlwoman Israel had a treasury just as we do in the US. Ours is more complex, but the scripture is clear that we as citizens pay our taxes. This has absolutely nothing to do with the church as at that time there was no church yet. Even our Lord said, “render unto Ceaser the things that are Ceaser’s, and render unto God the things that are God’s.” Referring to the taxes being collected in the Roman Empire. Giving to the church is a matter of mental attitude, not percentages.
I was interested in the comments on this one. I am non-religious and have a biased opinion against organized religion, I would never be handing over 10% of my income to any of these places.

I mean I personally if I was in her situation and had the same heart I would just give portions of it to random people in need. It doesn’t have to go to a church plus it gives you the power to manage who’s hands the money directly goes to (tho those in need can still use it for wrong reasons but it’s your intention that matters most)

I tithe to several Christian organizations as well as charities. I am on a fixed income and tithe over 15% of my social security and GOD has not failed to meet all of my needs. I don’t ask Him to meet my GREEDS and He always comes through with more than enough. No matter what we do for charities I feel that Christians should contribute to the furthering of the gospel. “GOD loves a cheerful giver”.

I count my giving to charity as tithing.
I wasn't raised going to church and I've tried several times through my life to find a church, but never felt comfortable and/or welcome around the people there.

In America, we do both. We support poor people by paying taxes and we support rich pastors by tithing. 😂

Food bank needs help
I know people who goes to food bank while the ones in need never get the resources
The Bible say, if you don’t have a home church, then you can take your tithes and buy something of your liking at where God wants you to spend the money.
I believe one should give not pay, (big difference) as giving is from the heart and paying is an obligation; to where their heart directs them. Don't think about how your giving is being used, that's Satan's way of distracting you from your heartfelt intention as you have proven your obedience to God and let the receivers of your giving reap what they sew for only God knows what is truly in their hearts. I give money to people and animal people who I know and see their need. It is always a gift. No strings attached. Other than for them pay it forward when they can. Donate items to churches. Just me.

God never created physical money so there is no need to be guilted into giving it out of duty. In fact we should be striving to be giving of ourselves instead of giving money. Help someone in need without involving money and you'll see how much better you feel. If you still feel the need to tithe then tithe a stranger by buying them something. No need to give them money. Pay for their groceries at check out or pay for someone's movie ticket when you're in line. If possible do it for someone of another race, culture or nationality. Hi :) I also thought that tithing is not really required from us since we are in the new covenant. But then I came accross biblical teachings that changed my mind. The reason tithing is required and other laws are not, is that tithing was there before the 10 commandements. It’s a spiritual law that God put in place, same as sowing and reaping, etc. Also tithing is not the same as offerings. Tithing is 10% of your income that goes to your local church and allows to spread the Word. Offerings are random to orphanages, people in need or whoever you want to give to. Also when I personally started to tith my income started to grow by a lot (I’m self employed). Whenever you give something to God he will always give it back to you. God doesn’t need your money but he needs your heart and obeying his word means you are putting the Kingdom first. 🙂

Read God’s plan for your money by Derek Prince. It was so insightful and has verses to back it up!
I like that Dave talks about the importance of his faith. Don't know any other financial advisors who do this.
I love his financial advice, I personally find it odd when he brings religion into it.
His financial advice is based on scriptures its kind of hard to separate. Its like asking someone how are you the way you are how do you have the things you have how do you know the things you know and not wanting the source and foundation of why Dave is the success that he is. God is the reason Dave is a success any wise person would give honor and regard to who gave them all they have

Tithing 10% had NOTHING to do with money. Tithing dealt with your crops and if the journey was too long you would sell your crops for money and buy crops or wine once you arrived. You won’t find tithing 10% of your money anywhere in the Bible.
I've never given money to a church. I have given them my time, though. Doing landscaping, helping in the kitchen, etc. There are other things you can do besides blindly handing over your paycheck with zero idea where it's being spent.
This couple could look for different people, churches, or charities to donate their money to while they are looking for another church.
At least, they care enough to give thought. May God bless them!

Tithe goes to church or ministry who is teaching the Word of God and churches often also do charity like feeding the poor. Offerings are different than tithe. You can give offerings as much you want or how God speaks to you. So it's tithe + offerings.
Why waste your money at all? Take that 10% and invest it in something with a tangible return.
Because, usually . . . Giving to others (who need it and will use it to help themselves, their families, their communities) is a good thing and it will make you feel better. If it doesn't . . . don't.

But yes a question like this kind of shows that either this girl can't think for herself or she just wants some air time with Dave. Hello! I give away to people who are in need.
I would rather give my money to the poor at least I know where it's going and I worship at home and pray and fast and therefore I'll give it to the poor that really needs it not to a preaching the Bible never said you have to pay 10%

I don't like giving money to churches, when the pastors need money they ask the members for an offering but when the members in turn need money, the pastors tell them to ask God

A lot of people still never got the point of tithing. Part of that is to keep a church going and doing their thing, and the rest of our charity is to help the poor and disadvantaged. Point is, all our money is God's. We don't own a thing, so when we do well it is our duty to use His money for His glory.

Tithe? New Testament Believers model and pattern themselves not according to the ancient law of Moses. We are not bound to it in order to obtain approval, love, acceptance by God and definitely not to obtain Salvation, which is a free gift. We follow Christ and “where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty.” We give from the heart and not by the persuasion or compulsions of men.

Biblically, the tithe was to go to the priests in the temple of God. This was never changed. NT Christians did not tithe to their home church or to missionaries (although they did give generously to both.)

Tithing to what exactly. A millionaire pastor who takes from the poor to buy jets, luxury clothes and gives nothing to the poor. OR We give our time to help people and give where we can to a cause that can help. God wouldn't want us to give millions to build a church or buy people jets, if the people outside the church are starving and have nothing. I give up my time to help people and if god says if I get to heaven, oh you didn't give all your money to some money to a big manipulative megachurch so they could buy fancy things, so you're not coming in, well then maybe that's not the heaven I want to be in...

It's like people that give sports gear out to kids in need. It's something that can really benefit a lot of kids.
I donate to several causes. I donate to local homeless shelters, to disabled veteran's charities, to my neighbors when they need help and to animal rescues (God may have given us dominion over the earth but He gave us stewardship over the animals). I'll help someone at the grocery store when they're short the cash they need to pay. I will buy a homeless person a meal from McDonald's and give them some cash--it doesn't matter what they do with the money. I try to be a blessing to everyone I know either with monetary gifts or by donating my time and labor to help.
