How To Make Chocolate-Dipped Mini Marzipan Bars - Recipe

  • These are a great Valentine’s Day gift. Homemade chocolates say so much more on Valentine’s Day than storebought - they show you really care.
    INGREDIENTS
    6 oz (170g) almonds (preferably blanched)
    1 egg white
    2 tbsp Amaretto liqueur
    1/2 tsp almond extract
    5-6 oz (140-170g) dark chocolate, pieces
    DIRECTIONS
    1. In a food processor, pulse the almonds until close to a flour consistency.
    2. With processor running, add egg white, Amaretto, and extract.
    3. While pulsing the processor, add portions of the icing sugar - until the resulting paste is moldable.
    4. Transfer to a bowl and knead the mixture well. Form into small bars and place on cooking paper.
    5. In a double boiler, gently melt the chocolate. DO NOT overheat. DO NOT let any water get into the chocolate.
    6. Dip half of each marzipan bar into the chocolate, shake off excess, and set on cooking paper to cool.

    Making chocolates is in your Swiss DNA Kevin. I liked getting marzipan and the candied ginger from Purdy's too. I also got chocolates from the Thomson Park mall in Kamloops too when we'd visit family up there in the summers. 🍫😋👍
