I was at this gig , totally amazing and Jim Cregan solo is and always has been Fantastic on this great song , one of the greatest Rod has ever written 💚
I just found out that Jim Cregan was the original guitarist when this song was first produced. How crazy is that? I'm looking at the two of you reunited on stage singing a song that you wrote n he was a member of in the original band, When this song was released. That was a wonderful surprise as I believe Jim Cregan is an awesome guitar player. Thank you for your contribution towards the song. Jim, God bless, 🙏🙏🙏❤ You play that guitar as if you're 20 years old 🌟✨🌟✨ Jim, definitely stole the show that night. What a performance ✨✨🌹✨✨👋👋👋
Awesome, we definitely don’t hear singers like Rod & the genius of Jim’s playing anymore That is why to this day Rod’s still at the top That guitar was incredible & as important to the 70’s as Shine On You Crazy Diamond Just great
@@rosemariechiappetta3447 Frankie Miller even Rod Stewart admits the only white singer to make him cry , start with drunken nights in the city , where do the guilty go etc , hope you enjoy.
I was 8 years old when this song was the B side to Hot Legs! Always preferred this as it later became my life of feeling lonely and afraid of commitment!
I loved this song when it first came out but of course it hits differently now. The lyrics are bittersweet and Rod’s voice is amazing. But this version with Jim’s solo made it a top 3 favorite of all time.
crass as this will sound "I was there". 🙂 a few "rows" back / sang myself horse - retired now , always promised I'd buy myself an acoustic and learn this and I just have , tears come waaaaay to easily to this old fool , happy tears though . and, still the crowd don't understand ....
So glad to see Rod and Jim back on stage together. Just beautiful guitar work, as always. That shot of Rod standing next to Don, watching Jim, should be framed.
3:49 the perfect of them all, the Camera captured the most seductive part of the song synchronizing with womans body don't get me wrong with this, and that smile on her face, that guitar bending to its climax The true art is this
Jim Cregan the RSG and Foot loose & Fancy Free. I was 10 when this came out still one of my most favourite albums. Know every word every solo by heart. What a band. Thanks Jimmy for the music that i will take to my grave❤❤❤

One of my all-time favorite Rod Stewart songs The Great Jim Cregan the Somerset Segovia of rock and roll guitar, doing an outstanding job here, making that guitar tell the story! It is a bit odd though that the line, as folklore goes, was supposed to be "owning up for posterity for the whole damn world to see" a GREAT line, but when when Rod recorded it, he sang "owning up for PROSPERITY" cheapening the meaning altogether. Her he seems to combine the word into postperity"! Oh well, Sing it anyway you like Sir Rod, but please just sing it live in Hollywood, Fl on February 14, 2023 ..for Valentine's day. It will be my 53rd show and looks like my final one. Thanks 💚🎶 "For giving me, honestly, the best days of my life"🎶💚
I had to learn to play after hearing this song... All my efforts have failed it seems.. But I still own MY SONGS and I can play like a son of A BITCH !!! Thank you Jimmy
What a class act Mr. Stewart. Stays to the side of the stage to allow Mr. Cregan his time in the spotlight. And yes, one of the best solos ever.
Agreed.
Rod has never hogged the spotlight ....from Faces to now .
Alsooo

One of the greatest most perfect guitar solos ever played!

今まで観たライブヴァージョンで一番素晴らしい演奏と歌です。ロッドとジムの友情も素敵です。
こんな映像を観れて感謝です!
One of the best guitar solos ever
Exactly my opinion
This is what u call real talent that stood the test of time unlike todays crappy music sang by talentless musicians here today n gone tomorrow.
Jim Cregan's solo is superb. my favourite solo in rock music.
Totally wholeheartedly agreed!
Man you know mick Taylor or pappo ?
One of the most beautiful solos ever
I totally agree!
Underrated and under appreciated; cheers to you Jim Cregan
If the first solo doesn't get you, the second one will, masterful performance, Jim can play, no doubt.

Probably the most beautiful solo I've ever heard, especially on the original.
one of the best guitar solo ever!!
What a great performance, Rod's vocals and Jimmy's guitar. BRILLIANT.
It was a privilege to be there after following Rod since 1970, awesome Jim Cregan
I can really feel how Rod amazed the way he play that solo.
You can see the friendship between the two of them.
one of the greatest lead solo, even without distortion on the second part, bravo Jim Cregan.
I totally agree even after 30+ years still sounds awesome!
Nice Jim
The first part of guitar solo would sound better on acoustic guitar with steel strings (original recording) instead of electric guitar.
Absolute perfection by both men. Greatest guitar solo done by The Man...still great after all this time.
Jim playing my favourite solo of all time well done my friend
A bittersweet masterpiece, that cements Stewarts status as a true rock Icon.
I love the partnership between Rod Stewart on vocals and James Gunn on guitar
Great song with a really great guitar solo! I looked for this to see jimmy Cregan perform it live and am very glad I did.
These tremoloes! No words to qualify them!
Just Learned this in memory of my dad, that solo lived in my head for years
Out of all the songs that I love that Rod does this is my favorite.
Rod lost his two elder brothers just recently, they're in one of those pictures that scroll by during the song, in much better times.
That was beautiful......the crowd finally understood 🎉
Rod seems amazed at guitar solo!
My favorite song of Rod.
Lovely, lovely song. Thanks Rod and Jimmy
Jim's solo sent shivers through me 😢😮
Years later hes still.got it same rod same grate voice

Ever since I was a kid at school
I messed around with all the rules
Apologised then realised
I'm not different after all
Me and the boys thought we had it sussed
Valentinos all of us
My dad said we looked ridiculous
But boy, we broke some hearts
In and out of jobs, running free
Waging war with society
Dumb blank faces stare back at me
But nothing ever changed
Promises made in the heat of the night
Creeping home before it got too light
I wasted all that precious time
And blamed it on the wine
I was only joking my dear (my dear)
Looking for a way to hide my fear (my fear)
What kind of fool was I? (Was I)
I could never win (never win)
Never found a compromise
Collected lovers like butterflies
Illusions of that grand first prize
Are slowly wearing thin
Susie, baby, you were good to me
Giving love unselfishly
But you took it all too seriously
I guess it had to end
I was only joking my dear (my dear)
Looking for a way to hide my fear (my fear)
What kind of fool was I? (Was I)
I could never win (never win)
Yeah baby, whoa
Now you ask me if I'm sincere
That's the question that I always fear
Vers e seven is never clear
But I'll tell you what you wanna hear
I try to give you all you want
But giving love is not my strongest point
If that's the case it's pointless going on
I'd rather be alone
'Cause what I'm doing must be wrong
Pouring my heart out in a song
Owning up for prosperity
For the whole damn world to see
Quietly now while I turn a page
Act one is over without costume change
The principal would like to leave the stage
The crowd don't understand
👍💓
It's a great song, haven't heard it in years. Great to see Jim Cregan again too, still fantastic !!
