"Zadok the Priest" is a British anthem that was composed by George Frideric Handel for the coronation of King George II in 1727. Alongside "The King Shall Rejoice", "My Heart is Inditing" and "Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened", Zadok the Priest is one of Handel's Coronation Anthems. One of Handel's best-known works, Zadok the Priest has been sung prior to the anointing of the sovereign at the coronation of every British monarch since its composition and has become recognised as a British patriotic anthem.
FRANÇAIS : Zadok the Priest est un hymne de couronnement (Coronation Anthem) composé par Georg Friedrich Haendel, à partir d'un récit de l'Ancien Testament de la Bible (Sadoq était le nom du Grand Prêtre du Temple de Salomon).
Il s'agit de l'un des quatre Coronation Anthems composés par Haendel pour le couronnement du roi George II de Grande-Bretagne en 17271. Depuis cette date, il est chanté lors de chaque cérémonie de couronnement britannique, traditionnellement lors de l'onction du souverain.

She was never meant to be Queen but after her uncle abdicated her father stood up then her. Whilst they are head of law no-one can take over the courts.
While they are ultimately the Head of the armed forces whom the person pledges allegiance too no would be dictator can take over the Armed forces.

@@jmundi2002 well to put it down to the brass tacks her Grandmother Victoria ruled over ¼ of the worlds population so accumulated wealth for one that and her father and herself were rather shurde with money. Also in regards to carragws etc its pomp and ceremony one thing the British do well is pomp and circumstance also the Queen does pay tax and moneys raised from royal estates help as well.

Queen Elizabeth II was the first monarch for several hundred years to have learned a trade - during the war she was both a qualified mechanic and a light goods vehicle driver (because she drove transport ambulances)

In 1603 the Scottish Crown took over the English one - the monarch called King of Great Britain although the countries themselves remained separate (hence why it’s called The Union of the Crown) and in 1707 Scotland and England entered into political Union, the monarch of which today being called the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I grew up in Scotland I know what I’m talking about.

I wonder if either Zadok or Nathan could ever have imagined the invocation of their names in quite such a powerful way as Handel allows and demonstrates so magnificently here - some several Millenia later…. on a little Northern European island. It’s a funny old 🌎 but beauty is everywhere. 🙏
No other ceremony on earth comes close to this. Largely made up of Victorian bells and whistle theatre but with core elements from the old pre reformation Latin high church coronation mass translated to the national language. This then dipped in high church Anglicanism creating a melting pot of mystery. Legitimised by history

As a die-hard monarchist, I think the 18th century's idea of dividing the government into just three branches is both archaic and unfit for the needs of the modern world. We need at least two new branches: first, independent treasury to keep the private and public business in balance, making sure lobbying of the multinational corporations doesn't have the precedence over the national interests and democratic rule of law. And secondly - a whole separate, independent branch to defend human rights. The monarch shouldn't be merely a meaningless figurehead but an active participant in governing this branch, defending the people from the oppression of the government and the uncontrolled corporate greed alike. A watcher to watch the watchers so to speak.
