    I believe EVY was chosen for the position she had in the Secret Service because of her personality was that, she wasn’t looking for power, she wasn’t trying to outshine everybody else, she didn’t want it. What better person to have it.

    I love Evy. I’ve watched her on several podcasts. It seems like they all pull the same info, ask the same questions differently. I’m 24 minutes into this interview and have already learned new things from her. The magic of Mel Robbins, y’all. Looking forward to the rest of this discussion and will be saving to watch again ❤

    Evy's ethos of mental armour has helped me to get out of a toxic working relationship and think of what is my intention rather than fall at the insults. I've live up to my aim without her power hungry behaviour throwing me off. Cos I wont be part of that game and do whatever to protect myself (my own president). I've had to be my own protector too. And I love the resilience and learning about it. Also love when Evy said she wanted to get into the force had had to go for what she wanted cos she has to live with thr decision everyone else will eventually come around like parents. And better to not have regrets. That really empowered me to close my heart to a bad job. But I'm hopefully now I will find better x

      Yes she definitely has shown that she admires or looks up to in awe to people who appear to have strength and confidence. For me, it's not necessarily confidence that I am seeing displayed with this guest. What I see is someone who is convinced or confident in what it is that she's saying. She's confident in the information that she's providing. I wouldn't suggest reading so much into someone's personality based upon one interview.

      I live by a similar ethos. I used to whine and moan about stupid shit while not doing much to better myself. I was doing more talking (more like indulging in self-pity) than doing. It's fine to talk about problems as they arise, but you have to take action and move on.

      @johannjohann6523 Місяць тому

      And when they talk, don't interrupt. Give them plenty of slack like with a fishing pole when you hook a fish. Because for whatever reason, people love talking and telling on themselves thinking it will impress you how they broke the law. Or did something wrong (and didn't get caught). People rarely brag about "doing something right". ("I've been a devoted husband for 5 years". (boring) Instead it's: "I went to this bachelor party in Vegas and whoa boy! Luckily my wife never found out. Shhh.") 99% of all crimes not on video tape are figured out because someone "talked". The truth always comes out. It's whether you happen to be there or not when it happens. People love telling about the things they have done wrong in the world. So let them. And you my good friend, keep them lips buttoned up! lol

    So much truth, even just about halfway through it. Politicians do that thing where they don't answer the question but speechify for a few minutes about distantly related accomplishments they want accolades for. And I love the advice to just pull out of the relationship without announcing it and without calling out the person. No need for that drama. Just go on and be happy. You don't owe them that, and they don't owe you whatever satisfaction you would get from calling them out.

    Evy is remarkably thoughtful, which I hadn’t expected given the little bit of backstory I’d read before listening to this and this first time I’m encountering her work. Remarkable because there are many larger truths and lessons we can glean from our everyday lives, but it’s so focus intensive and mental vigor to get those from our everyday lives, especially because it’s easy to rest on the initial or heuristic way we manage the normal. Evy is, to me, sort of heroic in the discipline she has in keeping herself open to radical shifts in perception, in noticing what others don’t and what others won’t. Lies are motivated deceptions, and that motivation is secondary to any revelation or detection of deception. Evy can see all of that at once, which is extraordinary but also deeply invested, kind even. Great episode

    Some people are shy, because growing up they were always being told off for stupid stuff. Shy people can from time to time break eye contact, like look at the wall or the floor.

    Wow and wow!! I was riveted to this podcast from beginning to end. Evy is great. Mel, you're great. This helped me tremendously and I'm glad I listened to what you had to say at the end. I will share this with others!

    Great interview. I love your honesty and vulnerability, Mel, especially when you shared that Evy came to talk directly to you.
    It's not our gut that we need to listen to most of the time, but rather, we need to risk not being liked by the decisions we make. We don't like to go through emotional pain or discomfort, so we ignore our conclusions and hope things improve without risking disapproval. Alternatively, we seek validation of our intel from others to shift the burden onto them, avoiding responsibility. So, what should we do? Trust our conclusions. If we make a mistake, we can always apologize. Risk not being liked in the moment. We won’t die, and the relationship probably won't either. Relationships are built on conflict.

    Thank you for sharing this conversation. I loved every bit of this. Listening to Evy's words about steadiness in behavior, speech, and emotion resonated with me deeply. We create our own path and learn every step of the way, and confidence is earned by taking the road less traveled. Remembering that you are 50% of the equation in any interaction reminds me of the saying "you attract more bees with honey instead of vinegar." Thank you both for this enlightening video.

    Incredible conversation.... helped me self reflect to see where I am also out of congruence in my own life- and how I can live more authentically and lean into trusting myself more. Thank you xo 💜

    I loved that quote Evy gave. One of my favorite quotes is..."Whatever is in a man's heart, will come out of their mouth."(Bible) So, listen, look, and watch.

    Love her book which I'm reading now Bullet Proof...she's humble and a go-getter. Her main take to me is this: she believes in herself and works her ass off❤

      I’m reading Evy’s book too. I was in tears within the first few pages. She’s not reached where she has without a LOT of loss, trauma, fear, bloody hard work and experience from growing up to within her field of work. Incredibly strong, intelligent, brave and gutsy woman. I have the upmost respect for her 🙏❤️

    Great interview. She has great wisdom I feel. And… all my life I have been called ‘so confident’ … oh so untrue… But ‘brave’, yes! And what is bravery.. doing the thing that must be done although you feel afraid and scared.

    Love Evy, seen her on several shows and eventually bought her book. If you have serious life experience, good instincts and antennas, able to read the room, guts and disipline I guess a lot of what she describes would be applicable to complete a good foundation to master your surroundings. On top of that obviously comes brilliant training.
