I played this as my solo back in high school. My directors weren’t too happy because it was well below my skill level, but I just had to play it because it just resonated with me so much. Sometimes it’s about playing a piece that speaks to your heart, instead of playing a piece that may be a higher skill level, but just doesn’t speak to you.

I used to play this a lot when I was little. I'm getting back into playing it again as I'll be performing it at my grandmother's memorial service later this month. It's a simple piece, but very touching and resonates with my childhood.
I played this for my final exam to show my section that it's not just being able to play your piece but communicate with your audience and pour your emotions to the piece you are playing. I made them all cry as I told them in the end it was my way of saying goodbye.😂 (I was a senior in high school and their section leader)
I came across this beautiful piece while watching Better Call Saul. Although it was originally written for violin, I can’t help but play it myself in the flute.
It seems most of the comments here are with other flutist, I'm here cuz of my Italian roots. Funny thing is I love classic rock, thrash metal, nineties music and some rap. But I love this too. It speaks to my soul. Thanks for the upload.
I play this in jazz clubs with piano bass and drums (straight -no syncopation-as it is) on tenor recorder and there's enough break to switch to alto recorder for the upper section The people love it
