  • This beautiful piece is arranged from the composer's Pelléas et Mélisande suite for orchestra. It is beloved by musicians and audiences alike, and has become a standard piece in the flute and piano repertoire. It depicts the happiest moments in Melisande's ill fated life.
Fauré originally wrote the music as a piece for orchestra alone for a different theatrical work that was never performed. He then re-wrote the material as a cello and piano piece and also as incidental music for the play Pelléas et Mélisande. Finally, it was re-orchestrated and incorporated into a four-movement suite, becoming the version we know today.

I'm not a musician, but I listen a lot and I enjoy it. I find this interpretation very balanced in terms of the roles of the piano and the flute. The flute expresses a very warm sound, I hear sustained notes, with vibrato, ligatto and very good joints. The performance of the piano is very subtle but with a technique that does not lose any note and creates the atmosphere that the work requires. I think they are very good artists. A lot of personal and professional success. It was very gratifying to hear your interpretation.
