The Cathedral Knights, especially with the great swords, don’t do as much damage as many of the stronger Lothric Knights, but they often win because they’re so much more aggressive. They’re swinging their swords like 3 times for every Lothric Knight’s one swing. So they often win even when the Lothric Knight’s weapon deals substantially more damage per hit.

Can we take a moment to appreciate just how DAMN GOOD the moveset on the greatsword cathedral knights is? I could watch those chains combo into kicks all day.
Note: Both of the Lothric Knights that were finished off with kicks were greatsword users. It's like the Cathedral Knight was doing it just to flex on them.
Seeing these videos makes you really appreciate the animations even more. Like when you're fighting you're more focused on not getting hit, so seeing the enemies fight each other really lets you bask in the awesomeness. I love how heavy and weighted everything looks.

not really, the lothric knights tend to be aggressive and focus on killing you, and the cathedral knights rely heavily on you not dodging so the cathedral knight's combo attacks don't do well
One of the most insane things I've seen so far, the Catty Greatsword knights are monsters, just look at the size of these lads. Also, the first Catty Knight didn't die without taking his opponent with him, absolute legend. Finally, finally Holy Knight Hodrick will show the world who the true champion of the arena is; and crack open that thick armor
That second fight was beautiful man... the way they both kill each other and the camera just stays there for a few seconds looking at their corpses, very poetic

to be fair the lothric knights are more well fleshed enemies and dont rely solely on stamina and poise to spam an oversized weapon, instead using mechanics of the game like weapon arts and miracles as well a cool combos

The cathedral knight with the greatsword only lost because the some of the Lothric knights were from areas much farther in the game. The damage scaling finally got to him with that overgrown lothric knight
Results of this surprised me, because throughout all of my playtime every variation of the lothric Knights were significantly more difficult than the cathedral Knights. The difference is that the lothric Knights can't roll like the player can though.
The ultra sword cathedral knight has every advantage with its incredibly aggressive A.I. attacking 90% of the time while other mobs idle around 60% of the time plus it attacks pretty dang fast despite its ultra not to mention its abilities that knock mobs over easily Kinda like pitting a hollow against midir you already know what the outcome will be
