    Sue, thank you for starting this channel. Every video you do has changed my perspective a whole lot. This one is the best. How you explain each mistake, in such a motherly voice (don't ask me how) felt like it's my mum explaining all this. Now, when I got my child, I'd never had a nanny, I dint know how to be around another lady in my house. (Raised with boys). My first nanny, God bless her... Taught me patience, she'd speak like you are now. She'd calm me down when I get angry.. yaani she contained hasira zangu za Mkisii.🤣🤣 When her season ended I let her go start her family and hope she gets a good nanny as she was to me. Bless you for this channel, you are changing lives.

    I have never helped a nanny with housework EVER! So with Covid, I decided since I'm home, we can work together. Wueeeee!! That idea took a big bite on my ass. After 2 months of this, nanny started seeing me as her equal. The day I have left the house and done no house work, she SULKSSSSS! She started even leavng some of her duties for me. Suzzie i STOPPED! I only assist when I feel like it. But mambo ya "Cook and I'll wash the house", hapanaa.

    • @suzyshomestead
      @suzyshomestead  4 роки тому +8

      😂😂😂 Pole sana mami... Some nannies will initially respond like this, depending on their level of maturity. I would have a chat with her and explain that I still expect work to be done at the end of the day. I would let her know that when I am at home I would help, but if I am not at home she should make sure everything gets done. Hapa ndio leadership skills zinatokelezea 😂😂 That's how I would handle such a help. She should know that it's still her job at the end of the day.

    Then if the no. one mistake is to go bye, then I don't need one because Her JD is purely house chores and the kids when I am out there looking for money. Imagine coming home late because of the nature of your work and you find her literally waiting for you to help??? Unless I review down her salary, because i normally do her JD and i make sure I compensate her adequately. You can only help her of you know you are paying her poorly. I have had one whom I treated soo well that my 9yr daughter questioned me why are you soo nice to aunty and she is mistreating us when you are not there?? She one day took a video of her shouting and punching his younger brothers in the dining and the part of her threatening them from telling me what happened. She used to blackmail them that if you tell your mother I will tell her how you frustrate me and I will leave this job and you know your mum will not get any house help to come and help her. So the kids were confused should they tell mum or we endure the mistreatment for the sake of her staying around to help mum with work??? That video shocked me and I just paid her earned salary the next day and we parted ways without telling her what happened.

    All Househelps should sign a Contract on how long employment is needed if from 6 months to 12 months if Househelp breaks contract all payments should be withheld and notify Househelp of breach of contract. ALL HOUSEHELP MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS WHEN A CONTRACT IS BROKEN.

    On this one I can tell women, do you. It feels like the women are being oppressed in a way as compared to men in running homes. There's no way mtaingia nyumbani nyinyi wawili and then I rush to the kitchen to cook so as to help the help, don't get me wrong but let her panga her time well and do her job. Treat her well, but let her do her job.
    If you are the type ya kutandikiwa kitanda, do it, if you want to cook,well, but don't neglect yourself while at it

    Heeh!! Gosh! I disagree with almost everything you've said but maybe it's just me. A nanny should know what is expected of her from day 1. You train her and she continues on her own. You are her employer and she is an employee. That's it. There should be a clear boundary. If you start doing her work, she will stop working hard and always expect you to help. If you can't help her because you have other things to do, she will start feeling over worked and start walking around like she is a victim. I am a working mom. At work, my boss tells me what to do and I do it. He doesn't tell me what to do and then he grabs a chair, sits beside me and helps me to do it. Kila mtu na kazi yake! Also, when am I expected to relax. I work and I come home to work some more 🤣🤣 I think society expects too much from women especially mothers. LADIES, LEARN TO RELAX! You deserve it. Leave her with the kids and go and drink some tea with friends. You can even go to your room and watch a movie. Take a break. Nannies get Sunday off. When will you as a wife and mom take a break? With a relaxed and well rested mind, you'll be better wives, mothers and workers. House work is not a priority in my house. My husband and kids are. All you have pointed out seems like more work to me. That part where you are saying that we should talk to them also is a big mistake. Nannies have issues like everyone else but if they tell you they expect you to go above and beyond to help them and to be super understanding when they keep asking for time off. Even if you talk to her. She will still go and talk to other nannies out there probably about you. I had a nanny we treated her really well. We helped her and uplifted her and her family. After a year, she started feeling like she was better than the job. She ended up giving me a notice to try and increase her salary. Her husband tried to conn me. She left our house very bitter. A week later she was trying to come back but I can never take back a nanny. I was exhausted. My personal advice is don't involve yourself in the lives of your nannies. They will leave you, without warning and you will feel drained. Focus on your families. She is an employee, she has family and friends of her own that she can confide in.

      @@suzyshomestead Hehehe!! Aki I tried to keep it brief but I just can't. Anyway, I have learned these lessons the hard way I tell you. In fact, we just let go of a nanny. She just couldn't get along with my kids. I gave her a month and she didn't improve so onto the next. I learned not to get invested so I don't get affected either. Let me stop there before I chuck another book. Thanks Suzy.

    • @rosem9402

    I always use those rules coz that's my nature n they turn into mistake n it's like I give my power away in the process, I don't stop even when I keep being warned to stop being too nice, of course they the helps all claim am too good person but they disappoint alot coz they take advantage and even start seeing me as their equal n disobedience n disrespects comes in there, but most always want to come back but I only need one when hv just given birth or when am working but it's better to just raise your kids on your own...they are of big help but most betray your kindness aki...

    She does the bare minimum of her duties, doesn't go out of her way to improve and has to be reminded every time to do things correctly.
