Fun Fact: In the actual game, there is a section of drinks you can buy named after legendary cyberpunks, and David has one named after him. To top it off, the drink was there before the show even came out.
was it? not doubting i just know there was also a lot of other edgerunners content (davids jacket for example) that got added after the show had come out
@ Literally Vodka and NiCola! 😂 But yeah, if there was a punk that deserved a spot on the Afterlife drink menu, it was the streetkid who squared off against Militech, Arasaka, MaxTAC, and Adam Smasher himself, all while gliding along the edge of cyberpsychosis.
You can also go to the Columbarium, basically a memorial wall kinda deal for those that haven't played the game, and you can find messages from Lucy for each member of the gang. David she says, You didn't take me to the moon, but you were there with me. For David's Mother, You were right. David reached the top of Arasaka Tower. You can also find Rebecca's shotgun in a bush if you go to the City Center. It packs a PUNCH, it can literally HALT your momentum in mid air, which I don't think any other gun in the game can do.
It probably doesn't matter. But it does. Let me explain. Hypothetically, Adam might have an engram. I heard he can't really stay dead. Interesting, right?!
Adam Smasher despises weakness and mercy, so I actually think that sparing him will be a bigger insult to him, and that he'd have to continue living knowing that you spared him would be torturous for him.
@@jairesemccoy9779in the ttrpg Borgs like Adam smasher have something called a biopod that contains all their biosystems like their brain, spinal cord, and whatever organs they have left. As long as that biopod remains intact they’re practically immortal and many will regularly switch bodies to a different model. Adam Smasher also has a very luxurious model called a Gemini that perfectly resembles a normal human that he uses to go out and have human fun. His Gemini looks like a really buff blonde Elvis and I think is the same body he used to escort Michiko Arasaka on her big night.
R.I.P. Rebecca, she deserved so much better. Almost every player who recently bought Cyberpunk 2077 was playing it to defeat the Smasher boss and avenge her and David.
I already owned CP2077 and finished the game before the show aired... and I'm definitely one of the many out there that decided to fire the game back up just to kill Smasher again because of Edgerunners 😂
I think it's important to iterate that David not only saved Lucy, Lucy did save David too. She brought him back from his cyberpsychosis so that when his time did finally come, he was able to die human.
I think it's cool that everyone one that crossed paths with David ended up admitting he was the real deal. From Maine, Kiwi, lucy and even to Faraday and Adam Smasher. Albeit in a horrible way, David really reached the top of Arasaka tower
"A happy ending? For folks like us? Wrong city, wrong people." - Johnny Silverhand, "Cyberpunk 2077" I couldn't wait for you to come and clear the cupboard 🎵 But now you're gone and leaving nothing but a sign 🎶...
@@kevinmegannety1163I wouldn’t call it a happy ending considering what’s left for v and what happens to a certain aldecaldo member(depending which ending you chose), but maybe bittersweet.
The thing about Adam Smasher is that he's basically a high functioning psycopath, since before he ended up full-borg. So now that he is more machine than man, he's still very much a (cyber)psychopath, just even more powerful, and on the payroll of Arasaka to do just the one thing he loves doing.
According to the analysis in the game, if you scan Smasher, his percentage of cybernetics is around 96 percent. Dude is an absolute fucking monster. He's a total pyschopath, but a high functioning one. Which really puts into perspective just how badass V is.
@@haku8135 V is the player character, after all. They have an unlimited amount of time and resources to do whatever they want, grind, farm, everything at their own pace and time. Yeah, lore-wise V is a monster because of her game feats, but I imagine her game feats would have been a lot harder to achieve if there was some kind of timeline and stakes in the game, but that would defeat the main purpose of the game: having fun.
8:04 The scene where David is hallucinating his mom and Rebecca says "Alright David. Let's go. To the Top." Hands down one of the best scenes in the series! Rebecca is a True Ride or Die!
Highly, and I mean HIGHLY recommend checking out the music video for Let You Down (the ending theme for each episode) It's also an animated story and is beautiful Also yes, the tears were flowing at the end, that music plays on the radio in the game as well and hurts every time I hear it ^^; The sad thing is that David thought Lucy's dream was to go to the moon, since that was her dream when they met. Her dream had shifted though, her dream was to be with David. He was her moon as it were. That's why the episode is called My Moon, My Man, and why their love scenes are usually in front of a giant moon, as a symbol for their love. David sadly didn't understand that. You fight Adam Smasher as the protagonist V in the game, so a lot of people replayed the game (or played it for the first time) after Edgerunners came out to kill Smasher again for Rebecca/David You can get David's mom's jacket with the ER logo on the back from Falco in the game (you don't see Falco, he leaves the jacket at a fixer for you) You can get a drink in the game at the bar The Afterlife called the David Martinez. Basically every "legend" of Night City has their own drink in the Afterlife, and the only way to get legend status is to die in spectacular fashion, usually on a job. You can get Rebecca's favorite shotgun around the spot where she died, it's in the bushes around those floating fishes in that corpo square around Arasaka tower. It's one of the most powerful shotguns in the game You can find funeral niches for each of the gang that died as well in the game Such an amazing show. Such an amazing game, highly recommend playing it if you haven't yet
Gloria Martinez: "You were right. David reached the top of Arasaka Tower." Pilar, Dorio, Maine: "You were the only family I ever had." Kiwi: "You thought me to never trust anyone in NC." Rebecca: "I regret not finishing our conversation." David Martinez: "You didn't take me to the moon, but you were there with me."
Adam Smasher is explained as constantly being in cyberpsychosis and that he can handle it because he was a sociopath before he got chromed up. In the table top game characters have a humanity score, which determines how much chrome someone can have, but iirc Smasher has a 0 humanity score. Another thing about Adam Smasher, he has another cyberbody that makes him a Elvis Presley look alike and does impressions of Elvis.
The thing about Cyberpsychosis is that you need to first have humanity in order to lose it. Adam Smasher has always been a cold, heartless monster before he saw his first chrome. He is also 80 years old by the time of 2077. There are plenty of treatments that can prolong one's natural lifespan in Cyberpunk. Saburo Arasaka, the CEO of the Arasaka corporation and Emperor of Japan, is 158 years old by the events of '77.
One of the saddest but most beautiful shows. The journey is so short, but such an impactful one. Rebecca's death and the final scenes with Lucy on the moon seeing David are always so ruining, so glad to be able to see your viewing experience to this masterpiece
Following this up, I would love to see you guys do a playthrough of the game! Night City is such a rich and vibrant setting - especially after watching Edgerunners.
They did such a great job making David likable. I mean yeah, his actions later on became disagreeable with all the implants and stuff, but he's still the type that you wanna root for. In the world of anime, many MCs are pursuing their own unique dreams, becoming a Hokage, becoming the Pirate King, becoming the greatest hero, etc and that's all good, but I like the fact that David is different. He basically had no dream of his own. His dream was to fulfill the dream of his loved ones, and I think that's also really noble. That's why that line that really got Kenny and Montana is so good.
Adam Smasher in the tabletop game was basically the Diabolus ex Machina a GM could pull if the players pushed him too far. He was not completely unbeatable, but he was so strong that he would almost always cause a complete party wipe. And since David, even with the skeleton, was basically just a small time Edgerunner, tabletop veterans knew that once Smasher entered the picture, the story could only end tragically. The question was just how tragic. And yes, Smasher is a cyberpsycho. But he was already a high functioning psychopath as a normal human. So when the cybernetics destroyed his humanity... nothing changed. Because there was nothing there to begin with.
I do wish that like... V didn't get to win against Smasher, though. It gives you a way to scale him that sort of makes stuff feel weak. Like, Lucy couldn't hack him. Even if you aren't min maxing your build as an amazing Netrunner, you could manage to hit him with a few quickhacks. It gives a sense of tonal dissonance.
@@itsCaptainEli I'm convinced Smasher is far from dead, it takes more than a juiced up superjunkie with a rockerboy in their head to take down Adam. There's 2 very plausible ways he survived or could make a return in future Cyberpunk games: 1. All V probably did was wreck that specific body. His brain is stored in what's called a "Biosystem" that can be transferred between borg bodies as-needed (he is known to have quite a few available) and a biosystem they're pretty tricky to destroy unless you get to them directly. V did not go out of their way to break into Adam's hardware and take his brain out directly. 2. It's even more likely that Arasaka has already made a copy of Smasher with an engram via the Soulkiller program made by Alt Cunningham. Therefore, all they'd need to do is plug that chip into another gonk's brain and bam, Smasher's back. I'd be shocked if CDPR don't bring him back or at least hint at it somewhere in the next Cyberpunk game.
Heartbreaking song aside, the fact that David and Lucy were in the same colored lighting when they reunited as when they had their first kiss just twisted the knife.
Survives past the end too. He's still kicking during the game, you can actually get in touch with him, just over Text, and he explains he's out of the biz and gives V David's jacket.
@@haku8135 There's also a campaign book for the TTRPG where you can play as a crew who gets hired by Falco to recover the jacket and Rebecca's guns after they get stolen.
If you go back to the game now, apparently you can find Becca's weapons and David's jacket. Also, if you haven't seen it yet, you have to watch the Let You Down music video, it's the story of the net runner who was with the team before Lucy.
A bit of context that neither the show nor the game add to the story: Adam Smasher was born as an orphan in the streets of 90's new york. Raised in gang violence and murder. Joined the army and was had a blast killing and fighting, until he literally had a blast and it blew most of his body. Arasaka was already a famed corporation then and they approached him with an offer: His soul (figuratively) for a new body. On that day, Adam Smasher was reborn as Arasaka's personal attack dog, a willing slave in all but name so long as they let him have all the fun, dangerous jobs and keep him equipped with the best of the best as far as tech goes. At this point, he is basically a 80 year old murder machine, who slaughtered the best adn the brightest in the world. He is not just some edgerunner, he is an international, world class professional murderer that has fought in the worst wars the world has seen. The reality is that David never stood a chance, even at his best. Experience, tech, weapons, physical ability, brutality, cyber-compatibility. He was outclassed in every way. Cyberpunk is a story where the underdog DOESN'T win. "There are no happy endings in Night City." Another tidbit: Most of the lore in the setting was created through the creator of the tabletop game and his friends running an RPG using the system. Their adventures and what happened in it became much of the canonical world-building for the setting, including stuff like Adam Smasher liking music when he was young and using a robotic-frame that looked like Elvis to party. He also likes anime.
Well, "graves" with an asterisk. They're more like memorials since Cyberpunk doesn't really have proper burials anymore. It's super sweet and very depressing though, going to visit them in the game. Especially because V has no idea who they are. Night City has no idea who they are anymore..... Now I'm depressed again.
Cyber psychosis is actually perfectly treatable in the world of Cyberpunk, it’s just not considered financially sound to bother with it for 99% of people. So the megacorps don’t bother and the public just see it as a death sentence. Smasher himself is one such person who gets that special treatment since he’s “useful”. He’s human, just a sociopath. In the original lore he has a more humanish alt body he transfers too that looks like Elvis to engage in vices. They never address it directly but we also saw Lucys hand start shaking. No happy endings in Night City. In this hyper-capitalist hell all you can do is find what little happiness you can before the system consumes you.
at least David died having one last fight to the death with the most powerful man in all of Night City, he even used the Exoskeleton but only for him to go even more CyberPsycho
Hard to fight back my tearbending abilities whenever I watch that final episode. Definitely the cyberpsychosis doing that, not me! Anyway, you guys were on point capturing many of the show's lingo, and you had good predictions too. Can't wait for whatever they are cooking up next for the show.
The scene you were confused by where a pileup to end all pileups suddenly happens, right after David's hallucination of walking through the streets... that was in fact real. If you slow it down, and ignore David's hallucination of himself, the crash happens because the team's car zips through the intersection just as the other cars are crossing, causing them to crash in the intersection, which leads the corpo cars chasing the team to pile up into them. You're right, that was a hallucination, David wasn't actually standing there and had no effect on the crash himself other than being in the car that started it.
The game is just as devastating multiple moments in the game make you feel exactly this emotion this episode gives and the romances give you just as much fun as Lucy and Dave cannot recommend it enough seeing Montanas reaction to this she would love the game too its easy to get into just put it on easy for her and let her focus on the story first there are multiple ends so by the end of the first end she gets it’ll be way easier for her to understand
Oh boy, if you guys are going to give the game a go.. I hope you're ready to have your heart crushed even more than this show managed. Hope you record your gameplay.
So my hupothesis about Lucy and Smasher. There is a thing in cyberpunk settings called ICE, they talk about it a few times in this show. It stands for Intrusion Countermeasure Electronics. Basically, it's an antinetrunner program. It also comes in 2 varieties, white and black. White ICE is non lethal, and Black ICE tends to kill the netrunner. You CAN upload ICE to your own system. In game, it's a Cyberware called Self-ICE, which blocks a hack and then short circuts the would-be hacker. I presume that Smasher was running Self-ICE, maybe in anticipation that Lucy might be an issue. Lest we forget, Smasher isn't necessarily a meathead.
@elitegamer9310 Oh neat, I didn't hear he has a track and counterhack mechanic now. I haven't fought him since phantom liberty dropped. I did hear he has a Sandy now though.
Not to mention, he at least has to have enough of a brain to realize that he's basically all chrome, so the biggest threat would be someone who could start disabling parts of him. He's already so chromed, what's another implant and micro chip?
Hella sad ending. I just rewatched the show again and it reminded me of this horrible trauma. Now I’m watching reactions and tearing up again I need help 😂.
16:14 dude sometimes I just don't get kenny lol. We see Faraday get squished by a gravity circle, the same ones David has been using all episode, and he just goes "So that was Adam Smasher". Brother come onnnnnnnnnnnnnn lol
I'm not sure if you said it by accident or something but Edgerunners will not be receiving a season 2. They have said they have more plans for Cyberpunk animation projects but not specifically Edgerunners.
Idk why people keep assuming it's Edgerunners season 2, absolutely nothing has been said to indicate that. They posted one teaser implying it's a new series, different tone and animation style most likely. Everyone is running with that though and theorizing the most ridiculous out of pocket ideas like Lucy returning or something lame like that. I'm not saying these people in particular said that, I mean I've heard a ton of people elsewhere say or hope for that, and I just don't get it. I'd rather Edgerunners be its own standalone complete thing, and same for this new series. Cyberpunk and Night City are literally PERFECT for anthology style storytelling. I've particularly wanted a series following the story of Melissa Rory and her descent into cyberpsychosis, leading up to the massacre and eventually her time with MaxTac. That would be such a cool character study psychological thriller with a cop drama twist on the last few episodes. Or a spy thriller similar (but different enough, obviously) to Phantom Liberty. What about a sort of coming of age horror series about a group of young, stupid but also genius netrunners who want to mess with the blackwall? They succeed and barely get out with their lives, but as the days go by, they realize something (rogue AI) attached itself to them on the way out, and now it haunts them and is slowly picking them off one by one? Nothing exciting or interesting will come of trying to rehash characters from Edgerunners who's story has been told. Not every piece of Cyberpunk media needs to be about the Edgerunner life, there's so many other stories and life paths in Night City.
It's Cyberpunk 2, but Edgerunners is a complete package. This isn't really the type of property that gives you sequels to stories you've seen. This story is finished, time for the next one. I for one am very excited to see more Cyberpunk. CD Project Red has already said they're working on the next game, and what little they've talked about is very exciting to me as well. We won't see V though, at most we'll be able to find out what happened with V, but playing as V is done.

You really should react to the music video. It's really good! Great music, great story told through it, basically a prequel.
If you’ve played the games there’s a theory that when Adam smasher called David a “construct” that they might bring back David in the same ish way that we had Johnny Silverhand in the games

With smasher he’s only got his brain left as the only organic part of him and as for him not being effected by cybercycosis it’s because he’s always been a highly functioning psychopath even before all his crome so he isn’t effected by it kinda like v the main character from the game
Something this show did perfectly, in my opinion, is showcase the amazing storytelling of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game. The bittersweet feeling you're given at the end of the show is the same as the end of the video game. Nobody gets a happy ending in Night City. Nobody.
ALSO! In the game there's a theory that love can save one from cyberpsychosis. So if Lucy stayed around instead of distancing herself from David he wouldn't have gone into CP. So ironically she caused him harm even though that's what she was trying to protect him from.
Definitely play the game and record after this. There are a lot of call backs to the show including mention of characters, locations and dialogues, but more importantly it is just an amazing game. You will also understand the world of Cyberpunk a bit better and maybe prepare yourself for the next Cyberpunk anime which has already been announced.
The best thing about the show as a player of the game before it even came out is how every location shown in it is in the game. The place where David and Lucy first kiss? You can go there. You can find Rebecca’s apartment. You can find David’s ripperdoc’s clinic though he won’t be working there anymore. You can purchase the same apartment David and Lucy lived in after he made it big. After the show came out, CDPR updated the game so you can find Becca’s shotgun, David’s jacket and even their graves with hints that it was Lucy who buried them.
Ah yes... Cyberpunk Edgerunners and Arcane... two of recent history's greatest animated series that are considered masterpieces, in their own right. And the only two shows that managed to make me cry no matter how many times I've rewatched them.
Gotta say, as someone who didn't cry when watching the ending, seeing everyone's devastated reactions at the end is *really* fun for me. All of the fun without any of the pain.
I didn't cry too, but i did feel immensely sad......and thats saying something because im usually not someone that gets hit in the feels for a show or movie very often
@@frost9681Same. The first time I watched it, I didn't really pay attention to the show so I felt nothing. But I was really focused when watching in these reactions that watching that ending now is so sad.
The villain of cyberpunk is human nature. There’s two sides, and everyone has to pick which side they land on, you either sacrifice your humanity for power, or vice-versa. That choice is what shattered the world into what it is, and no place has felt the impact as much as night city.
Man, any time I'm playing Cyberpunk just driving around doin gigs and THE song hits the radio, i have to either pull over or change the station, it hurts every time
Meant to comment the same thing. To add a little context: it manages to tell a touching little story in less than 5 minutes that plays before Edgerunners with Maine's groups previous netrunner as protagonist. Definitely worth the watch, not just for the music. It keeps amazing me how they manage to tell a story and makes you care about the characters in less than 5 minutes.
I once heard a theory that cyberpsychosis isn't entirely about the actual chrome, but more so the mental state that you are in. That is why when lucy left the crew david started having issues, or when david met back up with lucy he kind of snapped out of it and as soon as Rebecca died he began to vomit blood again.
This story and specially David's relationship with chrome, it's very similar to how people as they get older, think their bodies can perform as they were younger, and therefore refuse to accept it and think they are special or aging won't happen to them like the rest of people.
I loved your talk on capitalisms ability to make someone uncaring. I find myself being uncaring to my own family sometimes because I’m sometimes just so worried about saving money. Also we need those cyberpunk streams
Adam smasher is as the creator of the table top explained a high functioning cyberpsycho, he is a cyberpsycho for sure but much like certain drug addicts can keep functionality, appearances or control of action (vs a more feral way of doing things cause of their addiction) Smasher some what works the same that he is a complete psycho but still maintained his mental consciousness. in the table top humanity is a actually a factor that keeps you from going psycho, so cause of the fact that David had people around him that loved him dearly and cared for him he was able to resist it allot more (beyond his already high tolerance for chrome)
If events played out differently, David would actually become Adam Smasher 2.0 Speaking of Adam Smasher, He was originally a Veteran from the year 2000-2030 He was close to death but Arasaka reconstructed most of his body, and over time he became more Cyberware than human. That's what I faintly heard. Cyberpyschosis is usually a mental thing, Originally David was fine because his father figure (Maine) and his friends were alive, but after half of the crew died, and Lucy left. It started to hurt David mentally. The average Meds prevent Cyberpsychosis from happening to a certain point, but the meds he was given from Doc was to delay the effects. Uh, if I got anything wrong, or wanna add something, then I'm sure somebody will correct me or add stuff. PS : Pay attention to which arm Adam Smasher used to 'kill' David vs the one he used to aim at Falco and Lucy.
If you play Cyberpunk 2077, just a reminder that the guy deals more with the original lore fhan thos show does, yet its still it's own story. They are all their own story. When playing Cyberpunk 2077, while there are Edgerunners references, the game is came out before the show; it would be a huge disservice to allow the influence of the show shapw your whole gameplay experience. So not only is the story cool, but all of the missions, gigs, and gameplay are intricate/thought provocating too. I'm not saying Sandevistan isn't cool, but Netrunner, Berserker, Stealth, and all of those hybrid builds are cool too.
Despite knowing that the classic genre defining story arc for Cyberpunk is that the main character ends at the same state or worse then when they started, I somehow didn't see this all coming. Perhaps because it was an anime I allowed myself to expect more anime trope arcs.
The game has a mission where you learn about David and even get a phone call with Falco. There’s also an Easter egg when you visit the graveyard. Becca Gloria and David are there with a few words from Lucy written on the boxes.
Maine, Pilar and Dorio have an entry at the Columbarium too. It says "You were the only family I've ever had." Kiwi has an entry too, "You taught me to never trust anyone in this city."
Omg please stream and/or upload y'all's playthrough of the game, you're jumping in at the end of support for the game and like you said Kenny, they really have fixed like all the issues. One of if not the best game I've ever played. Quick correction on the timeline of events though, the game was NOT totally fixed when the show came out. The game launched infamously in 2020 and like you I was highly anticipating it day 1 and it was unplayable. A year later and the show drops which does spark renewed interest in the game and it is playable but still pretty rough. Leading up to the Phantom Liberty DLC and with that drop is when the game REALLY got fixed, and they even dropped a trailer for the DLC with Idris Elba iconically saying "The game is fixed" in a double entendre.
I heard this show is so emotional. but after i watched all its was good but not too emotional as i expected. Probably top3 saddest scenes is Main, finale and his mother.
You don't become a legend on how you live, you become a legend on how you die. David became a legend to inspire the next generation of runners. There's a drink after him on the bar you can visit in the game where all the drinks are named after some Cyberpunk legend.

Fr. Rebecca my queen!! Shii I mean it’s the top tier Loli that had the world in a choke, hold who wouldn’t take on the world for her.
I agree with you here l love him he amzing MC him and her they so sweet😢❤
"A happy ending? For folks like us? Wrong city, wrong people." - Johnny Silverhand, "Cyberpunk 2077"
I couldn't wait for you to come and clear the cupboard 🎵
But now you're gone and leaving nothing but a sign 🎶...
Is amzing episode and şad one too have nice day❤
Well V in game can leave NC with Panam, the Aldecados and Judy alive. That's a happy ending in my book.
Iirc, in the RPG Cyberpsychosis works around your Humanity stat; when you look at Smasher’s stats the Humanity is just something like “yeah, right”
@Derenyx Yeah he literally has no Humanity stat in the source book. Not even just a 0, just straight up missing
@@haku8135 Smasher is just a brain and a spine controlling a robot body.
Rules of the genre. A cyberpunk story with a happy ending would be like a musical where no one sings.
8:04 The scene where David is hallucinating his mom and Rebecca says "Alright David. Let's go. To the Top."
Hands down one of the best scenes in the series! Rebecca is a True Ride or Die!
Highly, and I mean HIGHLY recommend checking out the music video for Let You Down (the ending theme for each episode)
It's also an animated story and is beautiful
Also yes, the tears were flowing at the end, that music plays on the radio in the game as well and hurts every time I hear it ^^;
The sad thing is that David thought Lucy's dream was to go to the moon, since that was her dream when they met. Her dream had shifted though, her dream was to be with David. He was her moon as it were. That's why the episode is called My Moon, My Man, and why their love scenes are usually in front of a giant moon, as a symbol for their love. David sadly didn't understand that.
You fight Adam Smasher as the protagonist V in the game, so a lot of people replayed the game (or played it for the first time) after Edgerunners came out to kill Smasher again for Rebecca/David
You can get David's mom's jacket with the ER logo on the back from Falco in the game (you don't see Falco, he leaves the jacket at a fixer for you)
You can get a drink in the game at the bar The Afterlife called the David Martinez.
It's one of the most powerful shotguns in the game
You can find funeral niches for each of the gang that died as well in the game
Such an amazing show. Such an amazing game, highly recommend playing it if you haven't yet
Gloria Martinez: "You were right. David reached the top of Arasaka Tower."
Pilar, Dorio, Maine: "You were the only family I ever had."
Kiwi: "You thought me to never trust anyone in NC."
Rebecca: "I regret not finishing our conversation."
David Martinez: "You didn't take me to the moon, but you were there with me."
These are all the memorial quotes right?
Julio: He *blew* us away with his enthusiasm.
@@Cosmic_Dubyes from the game
Adam Smasher is explained as constantly being in cyberpsychosis and that he can handle it because he was a sociopath before he got chromed up. In the table top game characters have a humanity score, which determines how much chrome someone can have, but iirc Smasher has a 0 humanity score.
Another thing about Adam Smasher, he has another cyberbody that makes him a Elvis Presley look alike and does impressions of Elvis.
His score isn't a Zero.
It's missing completely.
In one book, it's listed as "Yeah, right."
Okay okay, Kenny. That title deserves an angry upvote.
it’s the most common joke in the entire fandom tho 😂
@beyondviolet makes it an even angrier upvote.
They are both not ok. This was to be expected :( Can't wait to see the end of their reaction still. Merry Christmas!!!!!
yes, adam smasher is still alive. they literally called him a living legend when they brought him up . keyword LIVING....
it could be interpreted as a legend that's currently thriving ig
@@johndinner4418 or as a legend who was actually real so "Living"
The thing about Cyberpsychosis is that you need to first have humanity in order to lose it. Adam Smasher has always been a cold, heartless monster before he saw his first chrome. He is also 80 years old by the time of 2077. There are plenty of treatments that can prolong one's natural lifespan in Cyberpunk. Saburo Arasaka, the CEO of the Arasaka corporation and Emperor of Japan, is 158 years old by the events of '77.
"Ugh, what an uggo"
-Montana
Absolutely broke me! LOL! I nearly spit out my drink!
One of the saddest but most beautiful shows. The journey is so short, but such an impactful one. Rebecca's death and the final scenes with Lucy on the moon seeing David are always so ruining, so glad to be able to see your viewing experience to this masterpiece
Boots up game, gets in car, turns on radio. Cries.
boots up game, gets in car, goes to AS.
Following this up, I would love to see you guys do a playthrough of the game! Night City is such a rich and vibrant setting - especially after watching Edgerunners.
There is a music video that shows the netrunner from Main's crew before Kiwi
They did such a great job making David likable. I mean yeah, his actions later on became disagreeable with all the implants and stuff, but he's still the type that you wanna root for. In the world of anime, many MCs are pursuing their own unique dreams, becoming a Hokage, becoming the Pirate King, becoming the greatest hero, etc and that's all good, but I like the fact that David is different. He basically had no dream of his own. His dream was to fulfill the dream of his loved ones, and I think that's also really noble. That's why that line that really got Kenny and Montana is so good.
The H in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners stands for Happiness
No
Adam Smasher in the tabletop game was basically the Diabolus ex Machina a GM could pull if the players pushed him too far.
Always found it fun that he was basically Cyberpunks version of the Tarrasque.
There's 2 very plausible ways he survived or could make a return in future Cyberpunk games:
@BionicDirector117
Yeah, Soulkiller alone made the likelihood of him being dead-dead, unlikely as hell.
So what do you wanna do?
Cry. Just... cry.
Heartbreaking song aside, the fact that David and Lucy were in the same colored lighting when they reunited as when they had their first kiss just twisted the knife.
I agree with you here l fell şad for her here hit me Hard❤
What did you expect ? A happy ending ? Wrong city. Wrong people.
I think it's scary how close we are to the dystopian future depicted in Cyberpunk.
Just without the good stuff (cyberware and BDs)
@@Kaylakaze Very true that. 😅
I think it's neat that Falco of all characters survives till the end
The guy who seemed most likely to be the redshirt of the crew.
@@BionicDirector117were
If you go back to the game now, apparently you can find Becca's weapons and David's jacket.
Also, if you haven't seen it yet, you have to watch the Let You Down music video, it's the story of the net runner who was with the team before Lucy.
A bit of context that neither the show nor the game add to the story:
Adam Smasher was born as an orphan in the streets of 90's new york.
"There are no happy endings in Night City."
Another tidbit: Most of the lore in the setting was created through the creator of the tabletop game and his friends running an RPG using the system. Their adventures and what happened in it became much of the canonical world-building for the setting, including stuff like Adam Smasher liking music when he was young and using a robotic-frame that looked like Elvis to party. He also likes anime.
fact: you can visit the graves of David, Rebecca, Gloria and everyone on the team in the video game Cyberpunk 2077
Merry Christmas
at least David died having one last fight to the death with the most powerful man in all of Night City, he even used the Exoskeleton but only for him to go even more CyberPsycho
A touch I really love. Smasher, when Lucy is trying to hack him, his face through the glitchy displays looks like a monster. Inhuman and evil.
Fun fact: if you go to the location where Rebecca died in the game, you can pick up her shotgun.
Adam Smasher also has his own specially made ICE. It's called Smasher ICE.
@elitegamer9310
Oh neat, I didn't hear he has a track and counterhack mechanic now.
A wise man once said.
Hope is the first step, to disappoinment.
Smasher hates weakness and the human form, he was insane before he got any cyberware.
We all need a Rebecca and a Falco in our lives. I'm glad that David trusted her enough to know she'd have his back like that.
Still hits every time you watch this episode. And after that the music video and it is a tear factory 😭😂
You can destroy Adam smasher in the game
That’s how most fans relieve their pain 😂
Kenny you need to stream this game, you'll love it.
For clarification they've said it's not season 2 in production it'll be a different story but in the same style and setting.
I’ve played the game 8 times now different ending each time and different build, honestly it’s an awesome game worth trying out
The look on their faces when Smasher gives Rebeccah the goomba treatment is great lmao
In the game you can find Rebecca’s shot gun in the place where Adam smasher lands on her
Hella sad ending. I just rewatched the show again and it reminded me of this horrible trauma. Now I’m watching reactions and tearing up again I need help 😂.
I want to hate Adam Smasher but he's so cool! 😭
Understandable 😂
Falco is lowkey MVP of this entire last mission. Genuinely one of the few people in night city you can actually trust.
If you’ve played the games there’s a theory that when Adam smasher called David a “construct” that they might bring back David in the same ish way that we had Johnny Silverhand in the games

Me too my friend have nice day❤
With smasher he’s only got his brain left as the only organic part of him and as for him not being effected by cybercycosis it’s because he’s always been a highly functioning psychopath even before all his crome so he isn’t effected by it kinda like v the main character from the game
In the actual game you can visit pretty much every location shown. V, the games protagonist lives actually lives in David's old house by default.
Something this show did perfectly, in my opinion, is showcase the amazing storytelling of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game.
The bittersweet feeling you're given at the end of the show is the same as the end of the video game.
Nobody gets a happy ending in Night City.
Nobody.
Kenny's expression says it all. Montana 😢.
Definitely play the game!! Would be dope to see! The show is canon in the game too
Seems like it's time for you guys to play the game! It's so worth it, honestly! One of the best games I've played! Even with the bugs it still has
After the show came out, CDPR updated the game so you can find Becca’s shotgun, David’s jacket and even their graves with hints that it was Lucy who buried them.
this 1 is a rough 1 from rebeccas sudden death 2 lucy and davids last moments 2 adam reminding everyone y hes the nightcity legend its brutal
Ah yes... Cyberpunk Edgerunners and Arcane... two of recent history's greatest animated series that are considered masterpieces, in their own right. And the only two shows that managed to make me cry no matter how many times I've rewatched them.
I thought I wouldn't tearbend as must on a rewatch with youtube reactors...turns out I was wrong 🥲
Gotta say, as someone who didn't cry when watching the ending, seeing everyone's devastated reactions at the end is *really* fun for me. All of the fun without any of the pain.
I didn't cry the first time, but I cry every time I see reactors watch it
I didn't cry too, but i did feel immensely sad......and thats saying something because im usually not someone that gets hit in the feels for a show or movie very often
I only cried on the endings of cyberpunk. All of them, but especially the base game. My first ending was "secret mission " temperance ending.
@@frost9681Same. The first time I watched it, I didn't really pay attention to the show so I felt nothing. But I was really focused when watching in these reactions that watching that ending now is so sad.
Absolute cinema of a finale.........but god it always hurts to see ;-;
Yes yes!!!! Finally they did it they react to kaiju no 8!
The villain of cyberpunk is human nature. There’s two sides, and everyone has to pick which side they land on, you either sacrifice your humanity for power, or vice-versa. That choice is what shattered the world into what it is, and no place has felt the impact as much as night city.
Man, any time I'm playing Cyberpunk just driving around doin gigs and THE song hits the radio, i have to either pull over or change the station, it hurts every time
You guys need to react to cyberpunk edge runners let you down music video. It’s a very good animated short. Really sad too
Meant to comment the same thing.
Highly recommend you two check out the game. It’s worth it now with all the fixes.
There is a mod for the game that adds Lucy in some some areas, like around the memorials.
I loved your talk on capitalisms ability to make someone uncaring. I find myself being uncaring to my own family sometimes because I’m sometimes just so worried about saving money.
Also we need those cyberpunk streams
One anime I truly recommend is your lie in April, great anime
Adam smasher is as the creator of the table top explained a high functioning cyberpsycho, he is a cyberpsycho for sure but much like certain drug addicts can keep functionality, appearances or control of action (vs a more feral way of doing things cause of their addiction) Smasher some what works the same that he is a complete psycho but still maintained his mental consciousness.
in the table top humanity is a actually a factor that keeps you from going psycho, so cause of the fact that David had people around him that loved him dearly and cared for him he was able to resist it allot more (beyond his already high tolerance for chrome)
If events played out differently, David would actually become Adam Smasher 2.0
Speaking of Adam Smasher, He was originally a Veteran from the year 2000-2030
He was close to death but Arasaka reconstructed most of his body, and over time he became more Cyberware than human.
Whelp
Time to reinstall, load Guts up, and pay Arasaka a visit. Adam likes jokes so much, he deserves a punchline.
The game has a mission where you learn about David and even get a phone call with Falco. There’s also an Easter egg when you visit the graveyard. Becca Gloria and David are there with a few words from Lucy written on the boxes.
Also you can find Becca’s shotgun near where she died
Maine, Pilar and Dorio have an entry at the Columbarium too. It says "You were the only family I've ever had."
Kiwi has an entry too, "You taught me to never trust anyone in this city."
@ forgot abt them
I'd love to watch the first act of Cyberpunk 2077 atleast with you guys! Let us know where you post it if you do.
I think it's important to clarify that there is not a season 2. The other cyberpunk anime coming out is in the same world but it's own story.
You can actually see easter eggs of the series im game. Lucy went back to NC and left some words for David, his mom and the crew
You don't become a legend on how you live, you become a legend on how you die.
David became a legend to inspire the next generation of runners. There's a drink after him on the bar you can visit in the game where all the drinks are named after some Cyberpunk legend.
Saburo was a living legend though, so was Adam Smasher. Even V was a legendary merc at his time. And then they died. Its not one sided.
@jairesemccoy9779 I was just quoting lines from the series hehe
if you guys read the comments, after completing one of your series, you guys should react to The Promised Neverland, i feel like you both will have a lot of fun reacting to it, its a short series as well, its suspensful with a lot of psychological elements that i thing you guys would enjoy.
