Just as I expected, this is another one of those cases that y’all are SO split on when it comes to sentencing. I know some people feel passionately one way or another however please be kind to each other while expressing your personal thoughts on the sentence. It’s okay to have different opinions and hear each other out :) ALSO sorry that my eye is red in this video, I got cat hair in it 😂😂😂😂

Camilla.camilla Camilla I’m looking from his family’s perspective. If he was my little brother excitedly telling me he had a date and got dressed, just to never come back and I hear his “date” set him up for even a robbery? I’d want her put away for the max, honestly. They’re never going to get him back, at least her family can still visit her.

U wanna run with the thugs then accept the consequences! I have no sadness for where she is for life. At least shes alive and gets to see her family.prison is way to easy in AMERICA if u ask me. My ex did 10 yrs and his low life lived a easy life off my $ watching tv all day, eating all day, even had a dog for companionship in there. Wtf? Alot of people that are free dont have it that good.

I was in prison with this girl, I spent the last 10 years on the same compound with her. She definitely says that she is the one who turned down the 15 year plea not the prosecutors office, so weird, she always walks around saying she’s so dumb for turning that plea down and taking it to trial and she regrets it so much, I never knew it was the prosecutors office who actually turned it down. I can also assure you she is in there not walking around depressed every day. I don’t think a life sentence was really fair in the situation, and I’m sure she probably does feel bad, but she isn’t in there struggling every day, she’s acclimated and found a way to once again follow the crowd. No she still would have been charged with murder, in the commission of a felony if anyone is killed they everyone is charged. She set the the robbery up, they had a gun that’s a felony. Even if she did not know they had a gun it’s still a felony that she set up. If she had not set up the robbery and then found out about the murder, then she would have been an accessory after the fact. I think people believe she was charged with murder because she did not report it, and tried to cover it up. But that’s not the case because she set up the robbery witch led to that young man’s death. If she had called the police right way unless she had immunity then the change is still the same. Now she was offered 15 years in a plea deal but turned it down thinking that she would get out of this.

But first degree murder its severe in this case. The 2 other guys involved definitely deserve first degree, but its hard to rule what she did as first degree. I totally agree with the sentence. She led him there. At minimum, she believed that they would beat him up and rob him, something that could just as easily kill him. She also didn’t attempt to help him. Can’t justify that.

True! This is what people are underestimating. She KNEW they were going to beat him up and rob him. She knew. And I myself know someone that died from getting beat up. So essentially she could have known it could easily go wrong and turn into a murder. However then again it is hard because some people are very immature and don’t realize the actual consequences. She was probably immature, impressionable and didn’t realize how badly it could go. Idk. This is hard.

That’s not exactly what the premeditation word means legally, but yeah, your liability point is where the felony-murder rationale comes from. It’s not always a comfortable outcome imo. There is more balance where the charge requires an inherently dangerous felony but still that potential for harm is hard to square with pulling the gun and ending the life with your own hand. Doesn’t feel right and we usually see it applying to younger groups of ‘adults’ where problems creep up morally about what they conceived the likelihood of a death could be.

I agree with the sentence. It isn't as though the sentence is above and beyond when you consider it is the law - a law which was already in place. If we would follow the laws on the books in all cases, it would certainly cut out the possibility of people getting off the hook due to race, gender, or social status. Of course, in a perfect world, this crime would never had been committed.
Regarding her DNA on the victim, that simply proved she was there which set her up for the punishment even though she didn't pull the trigger. She did indeed set up the meet. He would not have been there but for her. We cannot lose sight of the fact that a young man lost his life. A mother lost her son. I agree it is a very sad situation she is in, and as a parent I cannot imagine seeing your daughter in that situation, but neither can I imagine the loss of a son to such a cold-hearted, senseless act. When she was asked what she thought was a fair sentence, she answered 20 years. I find it interesting she was willing to gamble over that 5 year difference. I understand his life cannot be replaced by her imprisonment, but with a law like that in place, it is very black and white. I seriously doubt whether her being 'the hiccup girl" had any bearing on the case. Of course, I wasn't in the courtroom, so that is just an unqualified opinion.
This is a sad situation all the way around.

Just sayin... Two totally different situations and therefore are not comparable, but don’t get me wrong, she is where she belongs; I just don’t think she belongs there for life w/o a chance of parole - not when her role in the crime was much less than those of the others!

gusher duck for violent offense’s I’m more punishment especially if it ends in death even if the person didn’t intend kill someone. As for drug offenses depends on the drug and if they were selling it . Especially dangerous drugs that could kill someone. I had a friend ( my friends boyfriend actually). who smoked weed and did other drugs and many of their friends or people they bought from died from “ bad “ / poorly made drugs . The people selling don’t seem to care that others could die from it. unless you make it yourself you would never know if you are ether taking or selling “ bad “ drugs .I never did any because I was afraid to ruin my life by getting addicted or just plain overdosing . Then I read some books about different kinds of addiction and came to view people who sell these dangerous drugs vary harshly. Weed tho ? Not a big deal but still serve the time for the crime . Maybe the laws around weed should change but until it does be prepared to serve the time if you get caught. Sorry if this whole thing doesn’t make sense it’s vary late here.
