DEBOSS GARAGE Check the basket for bends in the rails underneath. Generally means the operators smacked a truck unloading or a building.
Also check the basket controls for lag, loose knobs or a faulty deadman switch, nothing like getting stuck off the ground. Ask me how I know.

if you are buying one in Australia, they should ALL have a log book that is supposed to be filled in every day its used which should indicate if the machine has had any faults found when going over it and testing all the functions before using it through out its life so you can check the parts that would have been repaired/replaced. if it doesn't have one its servicing may be questionable.
if its one that drives around, wear a harness that is attached to the anchor points in the basket. if you drive into a pot hole/off a step accidentally, they can/will throw you clean out of the basket and thats not going to be a great end to your day.

Pay attention to your upper boom extend in and out. They will get filled with mortar, diet, etc. They never seem to get cleaned and will bind up. Also the outriggers. Check for uniformity when lowering and raising. If it's way off it could be the hydraulic distribution block.

It helps to know the company you're buying it from. I bought a couple of used Skyjack 7127 RT scissor lift from the local Hertz Equipment Rental dealer for a good price and with low hours when they were renewing their fleet across Ontario (before they rolled over the 10 year inspection). They are meticulous with the maintenance. I know 'cause I rent there all the time. I bought a similar age machine last year dirt cheap from a private contractor and it's obviously been abused. It will get some love this spring (as well as fresh paint and a new drive axle)

small correction: in Ontario...on used equipment...structural inspections of all welds (xray) 10 years after date of manufacture and every 5 years thereafter. (This is beyond the annual re-certification that all lift equipment is subject to from new)

I work for a contractor that had at the time the largest lift available, a 126 foot JLG lift. I believe now they have lifts that go up to 185 foot, maybe more. Yikes

totally unrelated, hopefully u see this; have you heard of cenpeco gear oil? am preparing to build a street car and was wondering what you have to say about it. couple guys i talked to make good points about the stuff possibly causing parasitic drag in rear and applications or issues in temperature perhaps because to me i would think oil flinging off onto a given case would disperse heat.

I work on these as a service tech mainly terex stuff! Pretty much nailed everything except steer bushing and steer knuckles for scissors, common worn part on machines beat on and off trailers and over rough terrain and sheets of plywood over mud, look for a diesel don't bother with the kubota gas motor unless you like changing caps and rotors they fill with moisture a lot and have hard times starting... sitting outside

They are 35k on Kijiji Ontario. They must all be new. Where are the used ones sold? Also, what happens if you blow a hydraulic hose when you are up in the air?

get this for around your shop and stuff or planning on flipping it?
ontario must have the strictest reglations of almost anywhere in the world.. or atleast north america, if you just keep it in your yard and use it for personal stuff not contracting work what can they do to you for not keeping up with the paperwork and inspections

If you aren't getting paid to use it, no rules apply. Mennonites get away without safety equipment because they don't pay each other, they just take turns helping each other out.

Not necessary for cert on private company boom trucks..

Fiberglass bushings that are impregnated with teflon is why greasing of pins is no longer required. If they do tend to get creaky and grabby a couple drops of light oil will wick in an quiet them down/smooth them out.
Most manufacturers moved to this setup for a couple good reasons. First, lazy customers/renters/owners don’t maintain stuff properly, it’s an unfortunate fact, so to prevent the typical metal on metal parts wear they shifted to this. Fiberglass will wear before steel, for the most part, allowing for longer pin life. The second major reason is cost. Machining bronze bushings and drilling components for grease zerks and passages is too complicated. Production of fiberglass bushings is basically a one/two step process. After that press them in and you’re done. No need to worry about lining up ports/holes, ensuring exact alignment etc..

I would think they would be exporting a lot of these old used ones from Canada because I don't think US requires the xray testing on the welds.

Depends on HP. Anything below 60hp needed for around a couple acres would be a Kubota. Anything bigger for a farm I would try to find a 7000 series Case.
