Hello. I am an actual Citroen mechanic (!). Dealer trained and a long life of Citroen experience. Trained under such Citroen luminaries as Walter Esheresh and Scott Curtiss. I would make a few observations on your find. First off, that ID19 is not a 1962. In ‘62 they had single lug wheels and the brake ducts in the front were narrower. The earlier models also featured a cylindrical air filter. Yours is more like a 1965 to 67. Good years actually. DOT 4 brake fluid is the hydraulic fluid. Do not toss any of the 8mm fasteners you remove from the car. They are not standard .8 mm pitch but rather.75mm. Same is true for larger sizes. Save them. The brakes work off the suspension pressure, ie if no suspension no brakes. E brake however is very effective and works off of front discs. These cars have technical innovations by the score. They are very, very, different from any other car on the road. If you need more information let me know. Nice program you’re doing!

The DS-19 was presented I. The Paris auto show in 1955. On the first day of the show 12.000 units were reserved , just in the first 15 minutes of the show 743 units were sold / reserved. OUTSTANDING !!! Citroen won the Montecarlo rally in 1959 with the ID 19 and in 1966 with the DS-21 , so they certainly have a heritage. I own a 1956 Citroen 11 , being this model that was launched in 1934 as the first car in the world built in series with front wheel drive. It’s great fun to drive and turns all the heads
Mr. Collins, I greatly appreciate how well you treated the kids at the snow-cone table and how you are genuinely kind to all you do business with. God Bless

My father had a lot of cars in his life, but he always said that his Citroën DS19 was the best car he ever had. It was a dream to drive and it never had any technical problems and it was even fuel efficient for the time.

I helped a girlfriend acquire two of them in the late 60’s. Why two? Well she totaled the first one. It was the 60’s. I later bought a 73 SM in the late 80’s.
