Oh you bet. I got a Lunar Pilot and now all my automatics just feel like wildly antiquated toys. You know the job of a timepiece is to accurately tell the time... It's like people bemoaning not having hacking on an automatic/mech watch. Why bother, it will only be synchronised for about an hour at best lol.

i myself also love Bulova watches. I own 2 Curvs, 1 Precisionist, 1 Sutton, a Computron, a vintage 80's, and am buying the Rose gold and Black Curve today to add to my collection. This brand is definitely overlooked and under appreciated.

Bulovas are unbelievably underated watches and their history in technological innovation, aviation and space exploration are to an extent other aviation brands such as breitling can only dream of.

You’re not paying for marketing, brand name, or todays “Swiss Made” con market. You’re paying for exactly what you receive, at an amazing level of finishing.
I don’t wear my Rolex or IWC watches in public anymore. Too many eyeballs following you these days here in SoCal. I wear Tissot, Bulova, and gshock when i leave the house.
Bulova is America’s Tissot. A luxury watch for people that understand what they are getting. I’ll respect someone wearing a Lunar Pilot that understands and appreciates the history more than someone wearing a DateJust because “it’s a Rolex”. I own Rolexes, you aren’t impressing anyone.

one of my favorite luxuries watch brands, I just like that their watches always have a classic timeless modern look that never runs out of style. They will always remain a classic and what I like is the are fair with prices compared to other luxury brands which are a plain rip off

@@BigBrianBruce I understand you, to be honest with you, Movado to me it's more like a fashion style of watch, but they kept with their unique design for years now and that it's something I respect about the brand. I can't really give them a good placement in industry, in my opinion they care more about how sheek and simple they can make the watch look instead of the functionality of it, if that make sense. As lately they been making more of an effort to put more things and functionality on their dials. I don't want to sound like a dislike them but in I way do, it's just not my type honestly. Some of their watches are pretty and that's all I have to say about that.
Many complain that Bulova’s designs are too big and unorthodox. There are a million companies out there making watches based on the same old tired designs. I appreciate that Bulova is willing to step away from the crowd and design watches that are a little different. I love my Precisionist-big, sturdy, unique, accurate and functional.
Great comment!! Sure bulova has big watches but also small ones and yes they are trying to do their own thing for the most part. Everyone has homages of something, it’s normal in that industry. Just wanted to share the appreciation that this brand doesn’t get around here.
At least they're not Invicta making 52 mm watches. I just got a Wilton open heart Bulova and I believe it's 42 or 43 mm and I feel like that's the cut off for me. 40 to 43 is The sweet spot
I don't own a Bulova but it catches more and more my interest.
It's a honest watch.

Good looking.
Good working.
High accurate.
A interesting history.
Actually everything you expect from acwatch, but for a moddest price.
The main reason for me is the Precicionist. The smooth sliding second hand is simply hypnotic beautiful.
The only compareable high frequence watch is the Grand Seiko Spring Drive for over 5K.
The Bulova only 200 in Germany.
I also appreciate that Bilova doesn't try to hide their Quartz watches or treat them like third class collection as others.
Why should they? Their Quartz movements are awesome and the reason why I would buy.
So I like how proudly they expose their beautiful quartz movement with glass bottom.
So It's by far not a waste of money
People who spends thousands to buy a expensive brand only in hope to impress other and to improve their confidence did actually waste money.
Their is never a wrong watch collection. As long someone can explain his motivation for the particular watch and tell a story and emotion to the watch and if it make him/her happy, it will alway be the right watch.

I have 6 Bulova watches, 4 Automatics and 2 Quartz. My wife has 4 Bulova watches, 3 Automatics and 1 quartz.... I been collecting watches for 30 years, I am 54. I just happen to love Bulova and do not care what others think. Thanks for making this video...

I think Bulova is over hated and under rated. I myself love Bulova watches and I can't stand to hear people tearing them down. They're good looking, good quality watches that are actually affordable. I own a few and I plan to add many more to my collection. Just got the 50th anniversary Jetstar as well

Bulova was always a meaningful brand within my family. They make a quality timepiece with fine appeal in classic styles.
Love the sentiment at the end. I’m a bulova fan, had the option of picking up a Tudor but the movement seems so weak in comparison to the uhf watches. Instead I got a lunar pilot on strap, a lunar pilot on bracelet, a seiko monster padi and a snorkel. I couldn’t be happier with my choices. The precision of the timepiece, the horological history of bulova and the fact that I like them is paramount to me. I only buy what I like, I care little for what others think about them, and, like you said, if I took the money I’d saved for a Tudor and bought that one watch I’d probably still be pining for the lunar pilots or the snorkel. Good show man, keep it up.

I wish I can find an Orginal Snorkel, the bracelet in the news ones are very nice, but the Snorkel from the 70's looks so much better in my opinion. The lunar pilot its an awesome watch, I wish it came in a smaller case but regardless its an awesome watch.
The very same thing exists in almost every hobby. One of my hobbies is collecting fragrances and the amount of snobbery involved in this is unappealing at times.
That is interesting, I’ve actually met a couple of people today that like collecting Fragrances, my old time favorite is Jimmy Choo Man.
So very true what you said about buying the watch that make YOU happy, not falling into the trap of what others think or that price dictates how much you will enjoy it. Having owned expensive watches I can tell you they are no more enjoyable than the good quality affordable ones and Bulova makes incredibly accurate watches that blow many expensive luxury watches away, which to me is very appreciated. My dad passed away 17 years ago and I just found between his things an Omega Speedmaster Professional, I got it fixed and bought a new wrist band, and now I'm just in love with it. Now I want to start a collection. I'm looking forward to following your videos and learn more about watches, I don't know what my next one will be

My must humble advice is that you buy what you like, could be affordable watches, expensive ones if you have the means to do so, there are soo many out there to choose From, what is a brand that you are interested in looking at?

Also, I currently don't have the money for another Omega, and after watching your videos and some others, I really like Bulova, maybe I could get the Moon watch, to keep on theme with my Omega. But I won't hurry to get one yet.
ElXav That’s cool!, so there are different moments:
Mechanical : a movement that is required hand wound in order to keep the watch running. Some of this watches have a power reserve from 38 to 80 hours of power reserve. So you have to crank it every 2 days so it keeps proper time.
Mechanical Automatic: a movement that has a weight wheel called rotor in the back of the movement that collects energy as you move. So you don’t have to hand wound if you wear It everyday.
Quartz a battery operated movement, so basically an electric device.
Kinetic, also knows as automatic Quartz a electronic movement with a rotor that powers a rechargeable battery.
Solar Watch is a watch which moves by converting light energy into electronic energy. Light energy received by a solar cell (solar cell unit under the dial) is converted into electronic energy. The energy is stored in the rechargeable battery and is used to move the watch.
There is also solar kinetic movements.
And the king of all movements today:
Spring Drive is a unique movement that combines the high torque of a mechanical watch with the high precision integrated circuit (IC) control system of an electronic watch. ... The IC then moves the gears forward by exactly one second. So pretty much the hybrid between mechanical automatic and quartz.
Im my eyes mechanical and automatic mechanical movements are Art and spring drive is the future of movements.

I have two Bulova watches I love them both one automatic with a nice Japanese movement and a nice Bulova quartz dress watch. A Tudor, Seiko, and Casio. All great
Last year I bought my first Bulova for my wife: A two tone rose gold ladies Marine Star diamond for our anniversary. I immediately fell in love with it. Since then I've bought myself a 2004 Marine Star with diamond indices to match, a 1952 Director, a 1978 Accutron, and a 1969 Sea King. I might be developing a real problem. 😅😅

My daughter had gave me a Bulova precisionist watch five years ago and I absolutely fell in love with it. I plan on buying another one and sticking with this brand.
Rick I really think they are nice watches, they offer a lot for the money and most of their watches are original.
The Bulova A-15 Pilot and the Lunar Pilot are actually quite nice! I'm not a big fan of their most recent designs, but it is a brand with an impressive history and legacy in the watch industry. For the money, they're good watches. If they make you happy, that's what counts :)

I have two Seiko watches and spent money on Chinese homage watches. Being fairly new to the real watch world and being from NY when I found out the history of Bulova it intrigued me and now I want some in my collection. Mainly the two popular ones, lunar pilot and Precisionist. But the open heart is also nice and the curve. Probably this winter I'll start picking some up. Very nice collection sir.

Don't feel bad about Chinese Homages, we all get curious and want to venture in different areas. Enjoy them for what they are. My biggest advice, don't try to catch them all like a Pokémon game, get things that you really want and that are going to last you a while, knowing what I know today, save your money for something amazing. That being said Bulova has a special place in my collection.

That was the first Bulova I purchased.Followed by a Sutton . Hoping to add a Grammy soon. The first watch was a Hamilton pocket watch. Passed down the family for 120 years now.

Bulova is a quality watch they call sub luxury. So its a entry luxury brand in my opinion. It has great history and great quality, funny some folks are starting catch on to this stylish brand. It also has a simple honesty to it, enjoyable watch . Since 1875
Bulova has some really compelling pieces and is a brand with many innovative industry firsts, and genuine historical and cultural significance. Sure, they have somewhat become a mall brand over the years, marketing more towards the casual watch buyer than actual watch enthusiasts, but that said, they are well made, reasonably priced, reliable watches. I have a soft spot for Bulova, they are the brand that started me on my watch collecting journey.

I recently bought a Bulova Precisionist and absolutely love it. The sweeping second hand is mesmerizing. Since setting the watch 2 weeks ago it hasn’t lost a single second of time (according to my phone application).

I own three watches, and two of them are Belovas (the third is a cheap smartwatch). I believe there are only three types of people who own Rolex watches:
1) Rich people who don't think $7,000-$20,000 is a lot of money, and are afraid their rich friends will make fun of them for *_not_* having a Rolex
2) People who aren't rich, but want other people to think they're rich for some reason
3) Collectors/investors who treat watches like financial assets, and don't actually wear them

I'm on my second bulova! I have a classic with the 8 diamonds and I have the gold tone octava. I love them both! If it weren't for bulova I wouldn't have gotten into watches! Hopefully 1 day I can make it to a rolex but I'll always rep this brand!

I just stared collecting and just purchased 2 Bulova watches. I think I’m going to really enjoy them. I love their look.
Question: Having so many Quartz watches is it necessary to have them serviced every 5 or so years even if we don’t wear them often? Do you have your watches serviced even though you don’t wear them everyday?
I’m sure quite a few that I’ll have will only be on my wrist during special occasions. Thoughts?
I think it’s important to service your watch regardless of how often you wear it, just remember that the little gears inside quartz and Mechanical movements require lubricants. So yes service your watch 2-3 years to keep them alive. My advice is that you read the manual and see how frequently you have to do the servicing.

I am planning on buying the Bulova Marine Star 98B301 and thanks to your video I am even more decided haha. It is a beautiful piece but many people said I'd be better with a Tissot or whatever... I honeslty like this one as it is amazing and has a reasonable price. Also, I find this video of yours very supportive in terms of making your own decisions for yourself and not care that much about other's opinions because truthfully, taste is a subject you cannot debate. If it makes you happy that's all what matters!

I have three Marine Stars (1 quartz, 2 automatics). I also have a Tudor BlackBay Bronze, Tag Heuer Aquaracer Caliber 5 (white dial), and an Audermars Royal Oak Offshore. Bulova is a great brand

I just told someone to get their watch game up and this is a great entry level company to nice watches. They are so beautiful and make wonderful gifts. Very easy on the pocket.
Good quality and easy on the pockets, you can't g wrong with that, they have all different prices and different qualities, but even the lower cost watches are good.
Bulova, it seems to me a brand that have some very different design from other watches maker.
When I started fell in love with skeleton watches, I find that Bulova is a best option if I don't want "spent a fortune for a watch that too scared to wear "but in a good reputation brands.
I have a 98a165 recently and so happy with the looks and Surprising with that accurate at -2s/a day from Miyota Japanese mechanical movement. the reserve power are not perfect but overall it was suitable for the activity people and it will easy to get people started conversation about it when you are in a group. 😀

I have just purchased my third Bulova watch. The women’s regatta 2 tone band with mop dial and dia markers and I really like it. It’s very nice. My last one I lost idk where. It was nice, I had it for 7 yrs. I don’t collect watches, I wear the same one all the time. My first Bulova watch I gave away yrs ago. They keep time well and will last a lifetime IMO.

I love my old Bulova. I considered buying an Omega, to replace my heavily used Bulova and decided to buy my watch all over again as NOS. I sort of thought something was wrong with me, but I love it all over again.

Thinking baout doing the same. I almost bought the Tudor ROyal recently but they didnt have the dial colour I want. I love my opld Marine Star cus if I break it I dont care I can buy A new one for cheap. I always repair it tho, I think I am attached. I have A better watch tho.
I was thinking of buying a bulova because they have a couple that look like they could fit in with my seiko advans and aka albas etc. I love the aesthetic of oddly shaped, almost futuristic watches. It's a good way to add a little flash to an outfit without looking like you're trying too hard.

Only thing I haven't figured out is how to make the second hand move consistently, when I press the button it only goes around for a minute like a time. Not sure if it works the second hand all the time.

@@jorben1990 You have a very nice watch. With that variant, the same as my 96B 251 Lunar Pilot, the large sweep second hand is meant for chronographical timing only. The running seconds timer is the subdial @ 6 O'Clock. If you would run the large sweep seconds hand continuously the battery would not last nearly as long as it will under normal operating circumstances. (Too bad because I also think it looks very cool.) PS; Nearly bought your watch 96B256, also but I waited a week too long and the price rose up $72 USD. Snooze you lose! I agree, I like the brand. I currently own 12 Bulova. Ranging from my most expensive Mil-Ships to my precisionists. I own Automatics, PRecisionist, and regular quartz watches from them. They are good solid watches. While I do not particularly care for all of their different lines, there are some that are really appealing. I love the historical re-releases, the precisionist movement is an amazing thing to watch and I love the older designs in the Accutron II (not so much the newer line). I have an 90 % 1971 Accutron Railway watch with split hour hands in red and blue to track two time zones ,for train crews (the hour hand is actually a single hand split an hour apart colored red and blue so you can easily tract time when crossing time zone, super cool and simple). Anyway, like I said, I agree. If you like something it's OK to collect it or gravitate towards it. In the end, it's our money to spend as we like. LOL 😄

I just picked up a bulova curve with the blue crocodile leather strap and boy do I love it. Not only is it the world's first curved chronograph but you forgot to mention its high accuracy quartz movement which gives the open case back that much more appreciation to see it. You can also see it from the front through the see through, skeleton dial, cover by a curved sapphire crystal. This watch gives more than what people are appreciating it for. I actually consider it to be a luxury watch. You're getting so much at a price point that I also consider to be a bargain. If it fell in the £1000 - £2000 price range I still would've bought it. Fortunately it doesn't, which makes me appreciate it that much more 🙂

I have 3 Bulova watches of which 2 are precisionists. Their style is sort of steampunk and art deco. I love their watches because they are quality, great movement and they look stylish instead of the same dead plain designs most of the high end swiss watches have

Great video! I have a small collection and it’s never been about price. I could afford the entry level Rolex’s and Omega’s but I genuinely don’t like them enough for the price. I have three Bulovas now in my collection and they are the ones I keep in rotation most. They are great watches and anyone who says otherwise is just a snob. What you like is what you like. I can understand why you are hesitant about it. Well, I really like Bulova, I think they are nice offering for the value. Their quartz tech is great. Its not Grand Seiko but very reliable quartz movements at thier best.
But if you like more mechanical pieces, you should be looking into a different model that met your expectations. I really don't care of movements as much as I do aesthetically on a watch. But don't get me wrong movements are thing of much appreciation.
Let's just say that in watch collection I have my Honda civics, my BMWs M3 and a few Lamborghini. But chances are that ill be using the Honda Civics for the most part hahah 😅 if that make sense.

First of all, I would prefer the a208 because one is a skeleton watch and I love skeleton watches. I think if I were you I would choose this one. Just because you mentioned that you like automatic watches more.
My brother has a c134 and he loves it. I personally don't like watches with diamonds as much, just because I am not a very careful person and I would hate for the Crystals to come off from bumping the watch around. But don't get me wrong, they are very nice to look at
My rules for watches: 1. Keeps good time. 2. It feels like a solid quality watch. 3. It looks good. If it fits that description idc who makes it. At the end of the day, it’s a watch. If you like it and afford it then get it.

This company has a great history and make a quality product, was a technical innovator and are not overpriced. I agree some people just buy rollies bc they are overhyped "status" pieces.
I own a bulova lunar pilot in my collection, nothing wrong with Bulova. Some people might spend thousands on one watch, typically an Omega or Rolex, yet don’t really understand watch collecting as it’s about more than owning just one really good watch. I have several pieces I consider special or historically worth owning in my collection, just because I have some expensive watches it doesn’t undermine the more affordable pieces in my collection.
Very good comment, same here. I like to wear my bulovas more often than my more expensive watches. To me they are equally attractive, price or value doesn't come in mind at all.

I'm going to say it how it is. Premium Swiss watches are purely status symbols. Their production costs and retail prices don't align. They belong to the realm of high-end fashion labels. Purchasing a Rolex, Omega, or Blancpain isn't primarily about acquiring a top-notch timepiece; it's about flaunting wealth beyond necessity.
I totally agree with you, but I wouldn’t put them in a fashion category because they are made by well respected and reputable watchmakers. But I get what you are saying.

My Grandfather owns a Bulova Accutron Spaceview and he got it from my Great Grandfather. I took a liking to Bulova when my Grandfather showed it to me, they have watches that are fairly priced to extremely expensive. Many celebrities have a Rolex but a true American buys Bulova.
That's a pretty cool thing, it all comes down to what you see valuable. I appreciate all kinds of watches, but bulova hits home, due to similar stories, family members etc. Is awesome to see how many people really like bulova. I am very glad I made this video

Alex Avelar the Bulova Chronograph you own is nice watch, water resistance to 30 meters. Diameter: 42mm, Thickness: 9. 5mm, Band width: 20mm. Besides the Chronograph functionality it has a Date indicator. Power by a Quartz movement, 30m of water resistant ( don’t dive on it or go to the pool with it) this watch is intended to a someone of a dress watch. Mineral crystal so be careful! Overall it’s a good watch. Very nice 👍

I own a fair few watches ranging from cheaper to higher end. My favourite watch I own is my special edition (black) luna pilot bulova. Which I pared with a after market great quality nato strap. I love the watch its amazing.
I did the same with my lunar pilot! I got this nice simple blacm nato and I personally thing is better this way, less bulky since the watch is already big. Cool thing! Thank you

I have been collecting Bulova for a while I have a Bulova from the 1940s all the way from the 70s and some new ones and to me and mean to me I said, vintage watch is one of the best I missing a curve and moon watch but I have a lower that nobody even think about 40s 50s 60s and 70s and they still clicking like a new baby. Bulova has a rich history. I also have the Grammy Edition that was my Wedding watch. I love the lunar pilot as my everyday watch. And I rarely where one I got from my job also love.

As a watch guy, I have far "nicer" watches than my Bulova Precisionist. However, I love the Bulova its big, the dial is cool with white carbon fiber parts. It is a quartz movement that sweeps like my Swiss automatics. I know that Bulova is owned by Citizen which that and the Seiko and Orient brands I always recommend to people who want a good watch without paying a great deal of money. I tend to favor Bulova "designs" over their Citizen cousins and feel like they just seem to be a small step up in quality.
My grandma bought me my first one. I showed her one I liked, and she got teary and told me how her grandpa always loved bulova watches and spent time taking care of them. I have a couple now but my goal is a green oceanographer 💚

I’ve never been a big watch guy. My wife is looking at getting me one for our 15th anniversary, so I did some looking. Fell in love with the Bulova Marine Star Marc Anthony. Gotta see if I can find one in person to try it out.
