Great list and video! The Orient Bambino is a very underrated watch. I switched my Bambino to SARB033/035 and I think it has a more elegant look. Still, I miss my Bambino (2nd generation). It was cheap yet good looking.
I own a Vostok amphibia and an SKx and I must tell you that amphibia is far better in terms of accuracy than SKX... If you order it from 'Meranom' and while placing the order, tell them to regulate the watch -15aeconds per day, you'll get very good accuracy... Their standard is -20/+60seconds. They offer customised watch as well if see through caseback or a lume pip bezel is required... You are doing good work... Your views are genuine that's what I like... Keep it up...
Thanks for that tip regarding Meranom. I'm looking to get the Vostok Retro and another Amiphibia. And I agree. I have 4 and all of them are wickedly accurate. On my next order, I'll ask them to regulate it. I ordered the glass casebacksfor my current Amphibias. Did they charge extra for your request to regulate? Cheers!
Bought the cream dial bambino because of this, still think Gen 2 is the best out of 4. Strap is a bit darker brown than expected but can always be switched out. There is a slight 3D effect that makes the center of the dial appear raised, but quite nicely and not in a gaudy way. Great recommendation by Federico!
I'm an Orient owner, so of course I have to throw the Mako II in there. Applied indices, in house movement from a legit watch manufacturer, the beautiful blue dial and Pepsi combo. For around 160-180 its a solid watch. And the USA adds a sapphire crystal, solid end links, and generous applications of super luminova. I got mine for 320 shipped. Packed full of value!
I haven't owned a watch in years. I happened upon your channel because of the swatch collection you did a video on. You make an interesting video. Heck I'm even thinking about getting a watch now.
The Seiko SKX is amazing, I don’t like taking mine off and you can forgot about it and literally do anything without a single worry. Really holds its own! (Just get a replacement jubilee strap from Strapcode)
The calculator one of the most iconic watches ever, wearing one makes you look like a professional in a STEM field... also Casio G-Shock is extremely impact resistant and reliable
When people want a big and busy quartz watch, I point them to the Casio Edifice lineup. (many people would not want an automatic watch for daily wear). Better than those Diesel or Fossil hunks for the money.
I’m curious your opinion on Mr. Jones watches. I don’t know much about about watches, but they look beautiful to me and are all under 500 I believe. Nice vid!
Federico, thanks for your nice 5 Cheap Watch review! I also liked and agreed about your 5 Expensive Watches review :) I must mention that the cheap Vostok Amphibia is just a tiny, TINY bit of Russian watch selection. Russia made and makes a lot of everything independently, also watches. Some Russian Watch Factories: Pavel Bure (Russian Empire), G.Tochmech, 1st State Watch Factory, 2nd State W.F., 1st Moscow W.F. (later Poljot), Chistopol (later Vostok), Zlatoust, Molnija, Penza, Zvezda, Pobeda, Ural, Uglich/Chaika, Vimpel, Leningrad, Sportivnie, Petrodvorets (later Raketa), Strela, Almaz, Slava, Volna, ZIM, Luch, Elektronika, Svet and many, many more.. I've a few examples in my Russian watch collection and enjoy them all! :) Amazing watches, whether it's a reliable Pobeda at lower price level or international gold winners like Vostok Chronometer -62, "ultra" thin gold watch or little Chaika 1965 (6x9 mm full jewelled) and more.. Russia early alarmwatches, chronometers, moonphase watches, diving watches, 24 hours watches, gold or aluminium watches or later Titan watches are all very interesting. Russian watches 1st in Space, 1st in Spacewalk, longest time in Space, special made for Space etc. are interesting to many. So are all the versions of chronographs, chrono/moonphase/24h and other complications. Then also Vostoks inexpensive watches and their a little higher grade series, even higher grade are the Raketa watches of today, handmade watches like Konstantin-Chaykin and more... All with In-house movements, of course. The more I look, the more impressive history and watches!! So thanks for that passion Russia :)
The Vostok Amphibian is by far the lowest in cost of my collection, however I wear it daily. Because I set the time, strap it on and forget about it. I can wear it for months and never have to re-set the time or hand wind it. Plus I never worry about it getting wet or being rough on it. Vostoks are the most under rated, best valued watch on the planet. Keep your Rolex, I will stick with Vostok.
@@AnonOrange I agree 100%. I have both models, but end up wearing my Amphibian. The Komandirskie is also very accurate, and although only rated at 30m, I have been swimming with it a dozen or so times without problem. Yep, Vostoks are the king of watches.
💯 agree. The round case (420?) Amphibia is so, SO easy-wearing on a NATO. The only thing about buying a Vostok is... You end up buying/accumulating an entire sub-collection of Vostoks. Amphibia ✅ Komandirske ✅ custom ✅ vintage ✅ Can't put the toothpaste back into the tube...
Hi Fed! About the Amphibian... this watch aren't just quirky, they are actually very interesting from a technical point of view. There are some informations on the forums about them, you can also find a Hodinkee article about them and they sum up part of this technical aspect too! Personally... I bought a vintage Vostok for a steal, as an impulse buy while I was just scrolling russian watches. It's such a lovely watch, that I bought another one, with a different dial! I really enjoy them, manually wound with the 470 antimagnetic case (which does look good in person)... The only hard part is finding one in good shape and with original parts.
My Snk809 with a speedmaster broad arrow hand set has drawn attention. 7s26 is regulated to .5 sec. Wear it as my beater. I agree with the scuba dude in your selection . I wear it on occasion.
It was cool to see a Vostok on your list. I picked up a heavily worn manual-wind Kommanderski at an Afghan bazaar in 2006. It has a black dial with a small gray Tu-160 Blackjack on it and very ornate stamping on the back. All of the chrome is gone from the body which just makes it cooler. It was just too unique to pass up so I put a black crocodile strap on it and wore it a lot until it stopped keeping good time. The quality isn’t great (noticeable flaw at 11 o’clock on the crystal, timekeeping issues, etc.), but it’s one hell of a unique watch and I just need to get it regulated. Given the damage and the fact that it is Russian and was purchased in Afghanistan, I always wondered what happened to its original owner. Maybe I don’t really want to know. Anyway, keep up the great videos!
Still sounds a bit like snobbery to me. Apparently if you don’t have watches in the top tier realm of collecting you aren’t a real collector. But hey these CHEAP watches can get a pass. I think collecting should be all price points. Honestly there are a ton of good designs from all over the price spectrum. Not all luxury watches are created equal too.
Yes, these cheap watches are an exception because they provide something akin to what the higher price watches provide. The watch hobby 9 times out of 10 is not to do with design. It's about history and mechanism and provenance. If it was just about design then the quartz revolution would have won out. You can collect whatever you want at whatever price point but the general community edges towards more expensive pieces, it's supply and demand. If nobody wants them they'll be cheaper than if everybody does, especially people for whom watches are a hobby and not simply an instrument of telling the time.
kokakoliah A Collection of anything is respectable in it’s own right. When I see a collection, I know the countless hours it took to hunt for particular items of interest because I’ve done it many times for many collections. I collect a lot of things and although some rich prick might scoff when they see my two Vintage Omega’s in between my Plastic casio and timex pieces (as well as the stupid-bulky monstrosity that is my invicta that I’ll never wear) but I take pride in knowing that I still own every single watch that I’ve ever worn. I agree that not every collection needs to be high end to be recognized as one, not every collection needs to include particularly rare or valuable pieces, though a bit of history tied to a piece would be outstanding. Now one request I could make for any collectors out there would be this- Please don’t make a Fashion Watch (MVMT, Daniel Wellington, ect.) Collection!
I prefer to collect what I like. That's it. I don't care about brands. I gave up the Label Whore lifestyle a long time ago. I got rid of several high end pieces and just went back to simple, inexpensive watches that look good and make me happy. That's what I believe collecting should be about. Pieces that make one happy!
Sunday I noticed a guy wearing a Patek Phillipe Nautica to church. I complimented him on it, but he couldn't take his eyes off of my Orient Bambino! The same one you pictured here. He really liked it!
watching this whilst wearing my vostok amphibia. I also have a komanderski and am also getting a classica for christmas. They are my favorite watch brand and have not failed me once. Just sadly quite hard to find in the UK.
Good for you! I am also wearing my amphibia. Vostok has never failed me either. Sometimes a watch doesn't need to be high end, it just needs to be built like a tank and tell you the time.
Frederico, agree with your choices, though I'm not really into the dive watches and a Swatch seems like a novelty watch. I like the look of the Bambino and Vostok watches. I don't buy quartz, so that limits my Timex choices to vintage wind-ups (there are many, with assorted dials and casings). But as I can't go high-end, I go vintage, and there's a veritable treasure trove of excellent vintage watches out there, besides the usual Hamiltons, Gruens, and Walthams: Tissot, Longines, Omega (love those pie-pans with the gold observatory logo on the back), GP, Croton, Doxa, Uno, Savoy, etc. Keeping them maintained may be a challenge, but some are just super reliable work horses. They have character and history and oftentimes a yesteryear elegance that you don't find in today's watches. To those who wouldn't touch a used watch, when you go to a hotel that bed has been slept on by hundreds of guests before you. Ditto for the silverware you eat with a restaurant.
Watching this while wearing my Amphibia cased Longines Ultra-Chron I'm a vintage Longines collector and brought this movement and dial for spare parts but decided to case it in this bulletproof case lol
Hi Federico I own a Amphibia with a radio room dial I like them they are also can be moded and for the money they are fun! Tough and comfortable can't really complain at the price.

Hi Fed. Nice of you to acknowledge the cheaper side of watch collecting. As owner of 2 watches on this list, I'm glad I'm going in the right direction.
Here’s one to add to the list: The Casio F-91W I’m a mechanical snob, but I love this watch. It’s a fun piece! Price? $12.95 on Amazon! I had a similar one back in 1980, so it’s a blast from the past as well.
💯 Agree. I'd add: totally worth the extra 30.00 USD to upgrade to a G-shock DW5600. Love the nostalgic/vintage vibes. The 5600 wears smaller on-wrist than I expected for a G-shock BTW
Like most things Soviet/Russian, Vostoks are pretty much unadjusted from the factory. When properly regulated you can often get them close to COSC standards.
@@johnrooney507 Most watch shops I've spoken with have a very low opinion of anything not Swiss or Japanese. So you have to ask around to find a shop that will adjust them.
Great list, even though I am mit a huge fan of Vostok&Orient. I would definitely add Poljot onto the list of affordable yet interesting Russian watch brands.
Wonderful review and so well-presented. I would throw the Bulova Lunar Pilot into the discussion. Incredibly accurate, mechanical/automatic 5 ticks-per-second chrono hand, beautifully constructed, detailed dial, and a bracelet that looks like--but better constructed--the original Omega Speedmaster bracelet.
Spending anything less than $3k from respectable brands is really a waste of time, unless we're talking smart watches or G-Shocks for the gym. They're counterproductive.
@@PeteNice29 Seriously? Seiko makes great watches that don't break the bank and they are just as respectable as the other higher end watchmakers. Heck they make their own movements and also innovate with new technologies. It's snobs like you that make the watch collecting community look toxic. Heck I've got toys more expensive than my watches but I have them because I enjoy them for their nostalgia and not their price tags. A person who only sees price tags is a shallow person.
@@PeteNice29 Maybe define what you mean by 'respectable brands'. You'll be hard pressed to find a wide set of options from AP, Patek, Rolex, Omega, etc if you set the floor at $3K, so I'm really struggling to make sense of this take. Your comment implies you haven't done the research to justify the statement to begin with. Seiko, Citizen, Orient, Casio, Hamilton, etc...these are all widely praised, historical brands that offer tremendously successful and popular choices well below the price point you refuse to go under. Feel bad for you b/c you've clearly wasted a lot of money "thinking" you've found the best value when in fact, you've intentionally closed yourself off from a whole new world of experiences at a price point that doesn't kick you in the nuts. If you have the money and you prioritize it towards higher end watch collecting, then more power to you. But holy cow, to claim that anything less than $3K from respectable brands is beyond snobbery b/c I think snobbery implies one is at least knowledgeable of the topic they exhibit the snobbery. You're just wrong.

Nice vid! I bought myself a gently used Citizen Skyhawk Atomic with eco drive in stainless steel from ebay for $200. It's a heavy, tank of a watch but very reliable. Love it.
Out of all these watches the Seagull 1963 got my attention the most
Thanks for stepping it down and being on the little guy's side. I'm a big fan of Citizen, Seiko, etc. However, I own a very nice Steinhart limited edition Barrique Phantom Skull model,"one of 44 made on Planet Earth ", a very cool Hamilton auto, etc. I own Invictas, G-Shocks, whatever! So I thank you for looking out for us, the little people! Good vid!
1. the Casio f91-w
2. Timex Weekender
3. the whole Seiko 5 series
4. The Casio G-Shock
5. every other digital watch from Casio

Agree you cant ignore them.
I think one Casio digital watch in a collection is probably enough (unless you collect Casios). I have an F91-W for when I'm doing DIY, fixing the car, or playing sport. I love it, but I find digital watches are a bit soulless. They aren't alive like a mechanical watch, you can't hear them, you can't interact with them.
I know this episode is way old but still one of my favorites. I just bout a Glycine Combat, 20 atm. Swiss automatic. Under $300 I love this watch!
Wostok (Vostok) it’s a crazy band. I love the peace’s. Study the history Sir., you will be impressed... Great upload, thank you. Regards
Plus, you can mod the daylights out of the Vostok!!!!!
Amen to SEIKO!
I may have to get a Vostok depending if I can get the correct Soviet art. Great video.
Great job bro. Would love to see a longer list of cheap gems though.
I think the Vostok could be turned into a series of videos where you play around with the watch and customise it
Check out UA-camr "Just One More Watch". Jody loves the Vostok and has done a few videos of him modifying his Scuba Dude and Komenderskie.

Thanks to you, just ordered my first Chinese watch
Excellent choices!
Totally love my Vostok, which I bought in Russia in 2000 for about $10. Still works fine.
I bought an Orient open heart automatic 3 years ago and it’s my favorite watch and still perfectly accurate.
I love my mako and its held up really well over the years
Hey! Great channel!! I’ll check out the store next time I’m in the area!!
One of my favorite all time watches is my 7$ casio calculator watch. I regularly wear it
Its my daily watch
I always loved the casio calculator watch as a kid, have never owned one...I might just have to pick one up,a very nice cost effective watch 👍🏾

I haven't owned a watch in years. I happened upon your channel because of the swatch collection you did a video on. You make an interesting video. Heck I'm even thinking about getting a watch now.
So? It's been a year, did you get one?
The Seiko SKX is amazing, I don’t like taking mine off and you can forgot about it and literally do anything without a single worry. Really holds its own! (Just get a replacement jubilee strap from Strapcode)
No Casio calculator watch 😢
The calculator one of the most iconic watches ever, wearing one makes you look like a professional in a STEM field... also Casio G-Shock is extremely impact resistant and reliable
Or Casio atomic timekeeper! 30$

When people want a big and busy quartz watch, I point them to the Casio Edifice lineup. (many people would not want an automatic watch for daily wear). Better than those Diesel or Fossil hunks for the money.
Good work,Vostok are great fun.
I see what you did there! 🤣
You’ve got me interested with the System 51 and SKX. Will definitely have look at those. Thanks! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I bought an SKX007 last year, man it's sweet. Only better deal is a citizens diver but my seiko looks really nice with the steel band.
Orient, Seagull, the Russian brands have plenty of watches that are 'cheap' but offer great value for the money and are robust.
I’m curious your opinion on Mr. Jones watches. I don’t know much about about watches, but they look beautiful to me and are all under 500 I believe. Nice vid!
Vostok amphibia! From Russia with love!
Federico, thanks for your nice 5 Cheap Watch review! I also liked and agreed about your 5 Expensive Watches review :)
I must mention that the cheap Vostok Amphibia is just a tiny, TINY bit of Russian watch selection.
Amazing watches, whether it's a reliable Pobeda at lower price level or international gold winners like Vostok Chronometer -62, "ultra" thin gold watch or little Chaika 1965 (6x9 mm full jewelled) and more..
Me too
They are totally functional and don't try to look cool.
Yet they are the coolest!
@@AnonOrange 💯Yes
Great video! The Seiko samurai is another great watch that can be had for very cheap.
Total agree. Vostok watches are very satisfying to live with & are a ton of fun with all of the customising you can do.
Very nice 5 group. I just bought 1963 SeaGull. For all the reasons you stated.
I just bought a vostok amphibian a few days ago lol its the first watch ive ever bought 🤔😁
My Snk809 with a speedmaster broad arrow hand set has drawn attention. 7s26 is regulated to .5 sec. Wear it as my beater. I agree with the scuba dude in your selection . I wear it on occasion.
Good video, well done Fed.

Loved how he started smiling when talking about the Vostok love those watches!
Great insight man👍
Excellent, a video that needed to be done!!
Glad you liked it
If you want a cheap automatic check out the Citizen 21 Jewels. Lots of different designs and the old ones are cheap as chips!
Chill, he is still virgin and playing WoW, don't be jelaous.
kokakoliah A Collection of anything is respectable in it’s own right.
Richard mille quality is shit , but because it's expensive , it's supposed to be a collector item
I own an Omega Aqua Terra, but I also have 4 Bambinos and I enjoy them just as much.
Federico awesome channel 😊🙏
Watching this while wearing my Amphibia cased Longines Ultra-Chron I'm a vintage Longines collector and brought this movement and dial for spare parts but decided to case it in this bulletproof case lol
Hi Federico I own a Amphibia with a radio room dial I like them they are also can be moded and for the money they are fun! Tough and comfortable can't really complain at the price.

Very good comment, Paul. Thoughtful, measured and well-put.
Incoming: Seiko 5h26 7a19. No, not automatc, however it is a very similar sibling to to the SKX Pepsi, plus is much more accurate and is a go to ready to go timepiece, albeit I'll need to change out the battery every few years.
I own a Swatch Sistem FROG (SUTG401). It's loud green with red contrast stitching. I enjoy wearing it. Fight me. lol
I also have a Bambino with the small seconds window. I do plan on getting an SKX. Regardless, enjoyed the video!

The bulova lunar pilot is one of my favorite everyday watches. Even get questions/comments on it.
Love the mantle clock. I have the exact Seiko in my office. Found it at a rummage sale! Great video! I'm a fan.
Like most things Soviet/Russian, Vostoks are pretty much unadjusted from the factory. When properly regulated you can often get them close to COSC standards.
Can most watch shops adjust one?
@@johnrooney507 Most watch shops I've spoken with have a very low opinion of anything not Swiss or Japanese. So you have to ask around to find a shop that will adjust them.

Thanks bro, great video.
Damm! I thought wend he said “Cheap” I thought he meant under $50. $200 is not “cheap” to me🤣🤣🤣🤣
Spending anything less than $3k from respectable brands is really a waste of time, unless we're talking smart watches or G-Shocks for the gym. They're counterproductive.
@@PeteNice29 spending beyond is just money wasting
@@PeteNice29 Found a snob.
Excellent video, love my Bambino and my SKX
