I’ve beaten every Soulsborne game on several NG+ cycles. It’s not really an “elite badge of honor” people make it out to be. It just means that I have insomnia and I didn’t like myself very much back then 😅

But if I was in his shoes I would have felt betrayed by the homies and I couldn't stand to look at the other dude in your story, let alone be nice and play games with him. The fact that he sucked it up and played regardless makes him a real G but it probably wasn't good for his mental.
I know its hard to pick sides in friend groups, but you should have stuck with your friend and ostracized the cheaters. Both of them.

I think North made another video about your story and it sounds like you've been trough it but you're in a better place now. You need friends that bring out the best in you. At that point in your life you didn't bring out the best in others.

Also found some people who are "peace keepers" just do not want to deal with conflict but ends up selfish. telling 1 party to just accept the shit end of the stick rather than calling out the party that caused the trouble. people who care more about an over reaction than what the party reacted to.
I hate that money flexing in story 2. Probably the most obnoxious person I've met was someone who got a lot of money in trust funds/inheritance and won on it with crypto. His grandpa had been the CEO of a huge recognisable UK company (won't say because of potential doxing, but it's a big household name) so it too was inheritance. It was a friend of a friend of a friend situation in a bar. And goodness me was he flaunting it.
Literally every single conversation this guy was having on our large table he spun around to flexing on his finances. All while the rest of us 20-something tech support, shelf stacking, call centre, admin job monkeys were sat around looking awkward and cradling our pints. He was even unironically using words like "wage slave" to describe regular full time workers, talking about having to fill in tax returns for capital gains and saying stuff like he had "a better passive income than an MP's salary".
I was just sat there wondering how many beers he has to buy his friends to prevent them from buggering off as it was just awful and cringe. Honestly I wasn't even jealous or anything, it was just kind of vulgar.

Sorry North, but there is a difference between "not liking something" and "considering something bad".
The souls series have some things that need more polishing, sure. But, other than Dark souls 2, all of them are well balanced and i'm including Fires of Rubicon, considering when they were made.
If you're gonna criticsize the series like that, you just sound like the fox from "the fox and the grapes" story. How you put the problems you have with the series, makes me see as the Anti-dark souls Pete.
By the by, as you've already read in the comments, the series are not all that hard/unfair, to use use as a badge of honor. If the game isn't all that, then it's probably fair and polished, to a good degree and again, Fires of Rubicon suffers from similar problems.
I love the Current Gen thinking Dark Souls is hard. I'm from the C64/S48 days. Dark Souls was the default difficulty of EVERY game.
North, quick background info:
Ravnica is a plane of existence in the MTG multiverse that is focused around 10 Guilds conducting magical research, espionage, and cooperative shenanigans with and against each other. Very old plane in the context of the game, we’ve had multiple sets of cards based there. WotC actually did an official D&D release based around the plane of Ravnica for roleplaying.
Phyrexia is another plane inhabited by beings called “Phyrexians.” Think sentient machine beings obsessed with consuming and converting organic beings to their cold and murderous steel forms, and actively invading and parasitizing other planes to work on expanding their ideology of “The Great Compleation.” It’s like a combo of AdMech, Tyranids, and Hellraiser. Also multiple sets based in and around Phyrexian invasions and battles.

I played the first Ravnica set, I thought it would make an AWESOME setting for a D&D campaign and I came up with some ideas, and my ideas were better than the official supplement. But that's because I'm awesome - kind of like Homelander. _cape swish_

I played 1500 points at a GW store against a guy I'd never met before. He would conveniently misunderstand obvious rules in his favor and insist on dicing off to get me to allow his creative interpretation of the rules. I held it together to get through the game without sweeping my models, and without hitting the guy.
He asked me if I wanted to play again. "Uh, no thanks."
After having my girlfriend cheat on me with a good friend and then all my other friends lying to protect the cheat and my gf I can 100% say this guy is a disgusting human being.
I didn't lose my gf and good friend, I lost everyone.
And nothing of any value was lost because with friends and lovers like that who needs enemies?
A terrible side effect of this awful scenario (which has also happened to me) is that 'everyone' can mean everyone in the world because how can you trust anyone after that? The only thing you can do is learn to be very careful about who you let into your life. And do not waste time on anyone who is weak, two faced or untrustworthy. It's a harsh lesson but ultimately helps you avoid useless fake 'friends' in the future.
Don't think of it as "losing everyone."
Think of it as "gaining independence."

Ravnica is a major Magic The Gathering world. Pretty much revered as one of the best MTG expansions.
Most of us know what it is cause of either MTG or the DnD expansion that's why he didn't bother with context.

The removal of hobby communal spaces is saddening, and worrying due to some very disturbing facts about social interactions.
Dark Souls and its sister games are actually fairly well-balanced (aside from Dark Souls 2 IMO), and the vast majority of the hitboxes are quite accurate. There's a few outliers in that department, but they're mostly on really slow, easy to avoid attacks. What could have been slowing you down was the equip load mechanic. The heavier armor and weapons you have on, the slower and less responsive your dodge roll is.
In any case, the games really aren't too difficult as they are essentially glorified pattern recognition games with a cool world attached. There's also numerous mechanics put in the games to make it easier if you're having trouble like summoning people to help with difficult areas or bosses.
I get it if it's not your cup of tea, not every game is for everyone. That's even the design philosophy that the mind behind most of From Soft's games, Miyazaki, uses. He's said that he doesn't want a difficulty selector in his games because he wants everyone to be able to share the same experiences within the game instead of players being divided based on what difficulty they played it at. I'd suggest giving it another go with an open mind because they really are good games. Just avoid Dark Souls 2 though lol.
Eh dark souls 2 is fine tbh as long as you don't try to run through every area triggering every enemy in the area
@NeloBladeOfRanni It's fine, but has a lot more BS moments than any other Souls game, especially Scholar Edition.
It's probably already been said in the comments, but I hope it helps. Planeswalkers are cards in Magic The Gathering that are essentially an additional player. There were, at one time, sever very good novels written about a few of them. War of the Spark is a Magic The Gathering card set that turned into a D&D Campaign released by Wizards of the Coast. And, Ravnica is a "plane" or "city" or "world" depending on how you want to think about Planes in Magic The Gathering (as they are tough to explain). I hope that helped some.

It's super fun, we felt super shitty not getting to the finale, Adrian was more cut up than me as it was his time to shine and kill their characters as a phyrexian

I just paid for youtube, and i dont regret it. I can play it on my phone and lock the screen, and it keeps playing. I dont need to worry about ads. My daughter and son can use it as well, so they don't need to listen to ads either.

100% agree with your sentiment on the guy continuing the D&D campaign with the cheaters and not defending his friend and setting the standard that's not okay. But I bet if Lee stole 1500 points of painted Warhammer from one of the other friends he would never have been welcome back. Wargamer double standard mentality kind of messed up.

First guy, if you want to keep painting and practicing, strip your least favourite or quick jobs and repaint them. Save yourself some money!
You can buy minis for £1 job lots from China. Who cares what they look like. Paint them in batches. Re-prime. Repaint. If you're doing thin coats then you can get 30 to 50 opaque layers down (more if it's just a very think glaze or ink) before detail is blurred enough to need stripping. If they're just practise models it doesn't matter if you lose SOME detail before stripping.
Card stores that sell WH are usually a great go to. There's a lot of MTG places that are happy to order the models at store price and sell em to you below MSRP. Still an understandable ban though, don't directly mess with a business owners shop and expect them to be ok with it.

I disagree with your interpretation of Dark Souls 1 XD It's got a great deal of good design in it, and while some of the spear weapons do have insane hit boxes it is not as common now a days because of a thousand little updates and remasters. The looping level design is spectacular especially from the undead parish and up, though the blight town area is rightfully derided by many.
Like you said it is not a game for everybody, so steady on man XD Idk, I clearly liked the game enough to comment about it XD Personally I think they really refined things with Dark Souls 3, if you're ever looking to try the series again though I'm sure you've heard that allot XD

I almost got involved in a DnD community unfortunately one of the members was so insufferable. Happy I got out of there
Some solid painting on that grim dark site but hard to justify allot of the costs when most levels don’t have details (crux terminatus, books, scroll work, etc) picked out to even a basic level, feels like I would be paying 4x the amount to have a 80% painted squad to the most basic level. Really good for batch painting big number armies to look good but again the cost for an infantry guard army would be crippling. I understand your paying for the artists time and painting isn’t quick or easy to do well but having done commission work myself I think they may struggle at these prices and would encourage unit deal costs. 20 guardsmen £80, £100;with extra details, £160 to highest table standard, display case by case… didn’t mean to end up reviewing your mates painting site but as I ended up on a random waffle and there was nowhere to type over there we have ended up here. 😂

I want to first just say i enjoy all these storys thay northen does.
But sometime i feel like his takes are very hash but its true and i know he just telling you from a point of just trying to give you advice and wanting to help and help the people grow. But the eay he just basiclly chew out the dnd guy was rough i could just be a snowflake but i feel like the guy is pretty young and when we are young we do dumb things. Not saying what he did was right but at the end he did learn and he seems like he is in a better mind set.

I didnt get any empathy from the guys story. The way it jumps from cheating to everyone wanting to complete the campaign was just bizarre. So there was no remorse and only complained about the inconvenience this girl was to him with no acknowledgement of his so called friends pain.
Thanks, but he didn't hurt my feelings any, and gave me a couple more specific things for me to apologize to him, you'll see in the sequel.
@Grintendo I was sticking to the hobby because he hadn't given permission to post yet, he has since, so in the sequel you'll see what I did for him, but just know, HE WANTED THE CAMPAIGN TO CONTINUE, his exact words were "I don't want her to ruin anything else I enjoy." He also attempted to repair the relationship with Lee, as Lee was his only other friend, luckily all his friends ostracized him after this, myself included.

I think your a bit over the top on dark souls being a bad series and a badly made game.... yeah some jank a game do.... but saying the company is bad is a bit off take. They know what they make and it is for some people but definitely not for all. As most games are is five you don't like them but saying they are badly made games misses out on all they do well.... yes some hit boxes suck bit too each their own. Been loving the content keep it up, fun stuff!

Not to be "that" type of DS fan, but I have a feeling that you didn't get it, which is 100% fine as you said the games aren't for you and you're entitled to your opinion but I find that calling Dark Souls a "badly made game" from a "bad game company" is a little disingenuous
Specifically with the combat, it's a lot more methodical and about pattern recognition than a lot of other mainstream titles. Not to mention that no company sets out to make a bad game because if they did, it wouldn't sell, which is the antithesis of what a company wants.
I also find that comparing Ghost of Tsushima to DS is bit like apples and oranges because the two combat systems for each game is pretty different also that quote of "if you're good enough, you'll beat it" can be just as easily applied to DS
Like I said, you're 100% entitled to your opinion and I agree the games aren't for everyone, these were just a couple issues I had with your statement
That d&d guy is insane - he says he's now been through hell with the living situation, an abusive relationship , and now with the love of his life ... Phyrexia; All will Be One released on February 10, 2023.. this is ONE YEAR since the night they fist fought and he thinks everything's great now
Everything is great now, thanks, I learned to toss out problem friends, and the woman I found and have been dating through a very difficult time, she and I have seen eachother at our worst, and if I'm wrong I'm wrong, but my GF plays warhammer and isn't toxic so she's the love of my life, so far at a minimum
Also Adrian and I are still very close friends and I jettisoned Lee and Hannah
