- The story of AYA fine guns is long, interesting, and ultimately about people. Alex Aranzábal, now at the center of that story, is of the fourth generation of the AYA family. His story, like that of AYA itself, is full of layers, culture, and triumph. Maybe you have accidentally stumbled upon one of his TED talks? And if you have, you would know his fame has been marked by the SD Eibar football club, not by shotguns.
But Alex was drawn back to his family calling of gun making. His love for his family history and passion for the guns they produce has compelled him to bring this company to a new golden era for all the right reasons. When you spend a week with him in both casual and business settings, you hear about someone set on saving a way of life, bringing commerce to his home city, and a revival to handmade craftsmanship.

I am using an AYA for 11 years, it is inherited from my grand father, AYA 16 ga is best of best for me because when I mount the gun I feel it has a soul in it.

To be able to work and put in the time to learn this craft is remarkable to me. It’s very very much a lost art. These people are true craftsman and artisans. Wish I could afford one of these hand crafted beauties.
Purchased my AYA on an online auction in 2020. Belonged to an elderly Scotsman who brought his gun NEW back in '64' and shifted out to NZ 20 yrs ago. Reckoned he only put about 3 boxes of cartridges through it. When I went to pick the gun up he had a 2nd near identical AYA, also in near new condition. Couldn't help myself and left his place with a pair of AYA sidebox 4's. Beautiful, light an classic guns.

What a Nice down to earth guy, who you can tell, is tremendously proud of The product he is making. When he said, knowing his customers is a very Human experience, nothing could have sounded more true. I would dearly love to own one of these fine Guns.

I have a sidelock 117 in 20 bore. It was a two barrel set, with fitted case and a full set of springs and pins. I bought her almost forty years ago. I had owned her about ten years when she was stolen. About three years later I got her back, minus case, springs and second barrel set.
None the less , she has served me well, her little 26" tubes have taken all from dove to quail to geese to turkey.
The theft was fortunate, when I had two sets of barrels I always wondered if I was shooting the right one. That is now a moot issue.
Thank you AYA for a gun I treasure and will pass on.
Owning a handmade side-by-side by AYA is a personal triumph.

My grandpa grew up in Eibar, Spain before coming to the U.S. I never knew there was a firearms factory there when I visited years back. I need to get an AYA shotgun now haha.
Traditional shooting for the Spanish and English Sports markets. They do sell in the US. Eibar is a pretty little town nestled in some valleys outside Bilbao, about half an hour away by motor. It's an Industrial factory town so there are a lot of migrant families particularly from Galicia and Castilla, living and working there.
