The prior version of the M2 was quite nice looking, but this new one, not so much. Those "blocky" front fascia corners just don't look right to me and the rear isn't much better. I also don't care for the "tacked on" digital panel in the interior. Not only is it too squared off, but it has struts holding it up - the epitome of a last minute, add-on look.

Great video, really helpful - I have one on order to arrive next year. I avoided the bucket seats 👍 but have opted for the carbon fibre roof / trim just because I have never had carbon fibre in my life and I am 60 next year so it’s now or never 😂. It will be our daily so great to hear it does that so well. Had two of the previous gen (220 and 240) and they were brilliant. Sounds like this will be even better. Hurrah ! Thanks again.
Hmm I don't know why this was just purely all positives, so here's some other things you might want to know about the M2 that you'd expect to hear from a balanced ownership review. The regular Vernasca seats are very poor quality leather, they feel like PU leather that you'd get on a cheap gaming chair. And the bucket seats are Merino leather, not Nappa as said here. The interior is basically a 2 series and you're reminded of that every time you get in. It's mostly all cheap Fisher Price plastic, which is fine, but you have to convince yourself to be OK with that after spending £70k. The interior is extremely minimal which absolutely does negatively impact you on a daily basis, nobody should be comparing this with the 3 or 4 series. BMW know what they're doing, and they've made you well aware you've chosen the cheaper platform. There are only 2 USB ports in the car for example. One is a USB-A port which is as good as useless for most things because you can't route a cable to it and shut the flap. That leaves 1 USB-C port in the centre armrest area which is frankly piss poor and unacceptable in 2024/5 regardless of whether it's a 2 series or 3/4/5 whatever. There's no 12V socket in the rear either, so all this about it being a great family car... sorry but it's basically a park bench in the back, there's zero going on there compared to quite literally any other car on the market today. There's little to no storage inside the main cabin, you either have to chuck your keys in a cup holder or the tiny door pocket and have them rattle non-stop whilst you're driving. You could chuck your wallet in the centre console under the arm rest if you want it out of sight so you forget it's there. The centre console buttons around the gear lever are badly designed and force you to completely take your eyes off the road for a second or two to use them, there's no tactile feel to them to build muscle memory. Form over function with those. The car lacks basic convenience features that you're now getting on other similar cars in the class i.e. shopping bag hooks in the boot, there's just nothing like that here. The interior ambient lighting is not good, I have no idea why it's claimed to be here, no reasonable person can say the ambient lighting is well done in this car. I think it's even worse in the LCI than the pre-LCI. The fuel tank is unacceptably small. I'm currently getting 200-230 miles from a full 50 litre tank, and that's from driving very very slowly under 4k RPM during the break in period. The fuel usage may improve slightly as the engine beds in, but you still have a tiny 50 litre tank. The road noise is insufferable in the M2 at motorway speeds. The Harmon Kardon system is a noticeable regression from the F generation. That's just a handful of negatives, there are many positives which vastly outweigh the negatives and make this car absolutely awesome. But considering none were provided here, here you go. But saying this is a great "family car" is frankly hilarious, not sure if that's to try and convince the wife because she's asking to use a SUV for daily family driving but the M2 is in no way shape or form geared towards being a family car. Can it be used as one? Sure, of course, so can a transit van.

This is the most ridiculous 'review' I've ever heard. For the price of the car, you're getting the performance, drivetrain, engine of the bigger brothers but also a car with all the amenities you'd look for. I bought mine to have a tunable car that was amazing to drive and cruise in. With stage 2, the car actually is decent on fuel economy still with the small tank and has more range than most EV's. It has more storage than all of my 2 seat sports cars and still does everything I'd expect. Your negatives are really just a whole lot of nitpicking to say, the car that's 40% more expensive is better. Then go buy it?

I just hit 25,000 miles on mine. I feel like it has to be one of the higher milage m2s. My only real compliment is kind of a big one. The manual transmission isnt great. It won't surprise anyone who has driven MT BMWs for years, because it is a similar feel. It's not bad, but it's not great. But if I was to do it again, I would get the auto. It's still great fun and an amazing car for the money. Going to get a G80 or maybe a preowned F90 next year. Going back to idrive7 would really bother me though.
Just hit 25,000 km on mine and the only complaint that I have is about the brakes (mostly the front ones). They are squeaky and generate huge amounts of powder and this is really disturbing. Otherwise, as a daily, the car is amazing. The engine sounds a bit like a vacuum cleaner but it compensates with the power...
Just ordered one... had a hard time choosing between grigio telesto vs portimao blue metallic... i seen the grigio and it's nice. But i went with the blue... i only seen photos but it looked soooo good. Personally, not a fan of the frozen. But either way.. g87 👍 also... i think if your wing was wrapped in the color of the car. Itd be nicer
i´ve just flashed the 25 settings to my 24'g87 now It's got 480hp/61,2kgfm plus the steering and transmission tune from M4CS and it is astonishing! Also added the M4CS LCI steering. Looks awesome!
Like the M2, but would probably prefer the practicality of 4 doors. Would you say that you get significantly more tyre noise in the M3 Touring due to the “open” rear?
If you get the OEM one you will lose the heated steering function on the non LCI models, because the button has been moved to the iDrive system. Only way is to get off brand ones
As an owner of the g87 M2, I completely agree with everything you said. I think the noise is a little flat sounding, but everything else makes this a fantastic daily. For me, the choice of the carbon winglets don't look great but that rear wing is absolutely to die for 🤩
I’m curious as to how the satin paint has been to look after, we have been considering this colour, but worried it may be difficult to keep looking new
I have a manual m2 I agree with sound. Best thing I did was mid pipe delete and 100% open exhaust valves it’s now how it should be and didn’t cost the earth. You don’t need that shit m performance exhaust etc just get mid pipe delete and your set.
@ hi mate I live in Australia so we don’t have that crap but all the mid pipe delete does is remove the silencers that the EU mandates from new. Cats etc remain in place which is the emission part it’s only the noise restriction part you remove. Rear muffler stays in place.

I wouldn't emphasize the "pollen sacs" on the rear bumper by adding parts to it! Other than that, it is a great car, other than the matte paint which would never be my choice.
That’s why I got a F22 M240 with adaptive dampers and adaptive cruise control. Nice and comfortable most of the time and for the occasion I want to go fast, it’s got the power! I do like the body kit on the new car 👍
I hated the M2 when it first came out…… and now….. I still do…. To be fair I have seen several kits and kidney grill upgrades that make it look way better…. But still, I can’t buy a car that requires a body kit to make it look good ( I own an F87 M2C). The performance on the other hand is RIDICULOUS!!!! Way faster than the F87 and the power comes way sooner, if they ever make the m2 look good again I will NOT hesitate to upgrade!
@@johnstape4488 not to mention the lackluster drive. I mainly blame the zf8 gearbox. My f87 m2c feels a lot more raw and engaging to drive than the g87. Between the weight, gearbox, god awful screen/infotainment system and all the "safety" features that scream at you any chance they get, I would never even consider buying a car newer than 2021.

Raz, ive ordered an 25 M3 Comp and trading in my 21 M5 Comp. I think the M2 is a nice car but it's for a younger generation, like wish i could afford one of these in college. I like the mods you have done, but the thing is if you go so far out in investing you need to keep the car for a longer period. Meanwhile, BMW will release something better and shinier so it's important to keep a balance in probably getting in line for the next car. My M5 has 50k miles and I love it, but 4 years with it I need a change and most of my mods will be transferring to the M3 (Dashcams, Spacers and Radar etc.)
It’s Frozen Portimao Blue, not PPF, you could get Portimao Blue metallic and PPF it and would create the same affect. In this senario it’s just the paint colour
Ultimate Pack is essential - the buckets are class (I have an M4C). Also would like a carbon roof. Also wouldn't go M Perf parts, largely due to I don't like the look of them (subjective) and moreover, expensive to repair or replace if damaged.

Raz…what I cannot fathom is that despite every test being very complimentary in almost every aspect of these cars, they simply stick to forecourts for months on end. Why are they so hard to sell when too me, I think these are a performance bargain. I would leave out the Track Pack, add the sunroof , a set of M Performance wheels in Arun gold and the interior must have the performance red and blue detailing. I think these are a badly overlooked gem…😬😃😃😃😃
the first run g87 actually had around 480 hp. I suspect bmw is just finally admitting the actual hp figure that the car originally had with this "refresh" model. Not sure buying a new one is the way to go just to get a different steering wheel and maybe a slight power bump. I'd buy a slightly used one and put that saved money towards some mods.
The M performance kit is not to my likings,I agree however that the sound could be better but there’s plenty of options to resolve that,Miltek being one of them and the Carbon Kit the guy’s from Auto ID sell is also a better option
Their are some gorgous m2s like r44 bagged m2 and doubts m2 .. not sure the aftermarket stuff u did fits the car well. But hey we all like different stuff. Thats what makes these bmw platforms so cool. So many different options
Why are your GoPros always set to the incorrect frame rate? i.e. 24fps inside the car (resulting in 1 repeated frame per second); and 30 fps on the exterior (every 6th frame skipped). They should all be set to the correct 25fps of your main cameras. Results in a much more professionally produced video, without frame rate mis-matches.
The car has almost/ kind of grown on me but the m performance kit imo is absolutely terrible. Standard car, in black, silver wheels….Just about passable. The deals available now are much more sensible than when it was new at least.
Absolutely horrendous rear spoiler as well as M performance kit. OEM lip looks great, all the car needs is a drop. CS trunk would be the only legit cosmetic upgrade imo. Great vid as always!

I find the launch control etc having to switch this and that a bit time consuming. My Golf R and 992 GT3 one button that’s it. BMW’s are just too complicated.

Thanks for the good review. My modification list would look entirely different though. Tune, exhaust, lowering springs and better thrust arm bushings.

Watch the GPF if there is a sudden spike in higher MPG it could be coking up - as happened to my M4 a couple of times
I hated the M2 when it first came out…… and now….. I still do…. To be fair I have seen several kits and kidney grill upgrades that make it look way better…. But still, I can’t buy a car that requires a body kit to make it look good ( I own an F87 M2C). The performance on the other hand is RIDICULOUS!!!! Way faster than the F87 and the power comes way sooner, if they ever make the m2 look good again I will NOT hesitate to upgrade!
The weight makes any power gain pretty much neutralized.
@@johnstape4488 not to mention the lackluster drive. I mainly blame the zf8 gearbox. My f87 m2c feels a lot more raw and engaging to drive than the g87. Between the weight, gearbox, god awful screen/infotainment system and all the "safety" features that scream at you any chance they get, I would never even consider buying a car newer than 2021.

The external colour and additions are absolutely beautiful to me… Including the spoiler where I usually prefer the lip spoiler option on BMWs

What surprises is the M4CS LCI only has 65kgfm of torque. Not a such difference from M2 Lci
Raz, ive ordered an 25 M3 Comp and trading in my 21 M5 Comp. I think the M2 is a nice car but it's for a younger generation, like wish i could afford one of these in college. I like the mods you have done, but the thing is if you go so far out in investing you need to keep the car for a longer period. Meanwhile, BMW will release something better and shinier so it's important to keep a balance in probably getting in line for the next car. My M5 has 50k miles and I love it, but 4 years with it I need a change and most of my mods will be transferring to the M3 (Dashcams, Spacers and Radar etc.)
Seems like the carbon buckets give little bit more leg room in the back?

It’s Frozen Portimao Blue, not PPF, you could get Portimao Blue metallic and PPF it and would create the same affect. In this senario it’s just the paint colour

Ultimate Pack is essential - the buckets are class (I have an M4C). Also would like a carbon roof. Also wouldn't go M Perf parts, largely due to I don't like the look of them (subjective) and moreover, expensive to repair or replace if damaged.

Pre lci come with carbon roof and interior as standard, so it's not a tough decision. Bmw UK went for high spec as default from day one.
I love the carbon side sills personally. And the rear spoiler does look more fitting and natural opposed to the boot spoiler.

@@G82Watts It's all subjective, but when I hear someone say or claim that putting that spoiler on the car is an "improvement" it immediately causes me to be unable to take anything else they say seriously, if you think that looks nice then we're not on the same level, whatever else you say is good or bad isn't gonna hold any weight with me

Raz…what I cannot fathom is that despite every test being very complimentary in almost every aspect of these cars, they simply stick to forecourts for months on end. Why are they so hard to sell when too me, I think these are a performance bargain. I would leave out the Track Pack, add the sunroof , a set of M Performance wheels in Arun gold and the interior must have the performance red and blue detailing. I think these are a badly overlooked gem…😬😃😃😃😃

You don’t get the card key or access to virtual key if you spec it with a manual
the first run g87 actually had around 480 hp. I suspect bmw is just finally admitting the actual hp figure that the car originally had with this "refresh" model. Not sure buying a new one is the way to go just to get a different steering wheel and maybe a slight power bump. I'd buy a slightly used one and put that saved money towards some mods.
Body kit is a must to not make it look ugly
The carbon roof was standard on G87 M2s. We have a carbon roof on our March 2024 M2 and do not have the M Race Track Pack

The M performance kit is not to my likings,I agree however that the sound could be better but there’s plenty of options to resolve that,Miltek being one of them and the Carbon Kit the guy’s from Auto ID sell is also a better option

Their are some gorgous m2s like r44 bagged m2 and doubts m2 .. not sure the aftermarket stuff u did fits the car well. But hey we all like different stuff. Thats what makes these bmw platforms so cool. So many different options
Why are your GoPros always set to the incorrect frame rate? i.e. 24fps inside the car (resulting in 1 repeated frame per second); and 30 fps on the exterior (every 6th frame skipped). They should all be set to the correct 25fps of your main cameras. Results in a much more professionally produced video, without frame rate mis-matches.
Is there a convertible version of the M2 on its way?

The car has almost/ kind of grown on me but the m performance kit imo is absolutely terrible.
Standard car, in black, silver wheels….Just about passable.

Absolutely horrendous rear spoiler as well as M performance kit. OEM lip looks great, all the car needs is a drop. CS trunk would be the only legit cosmetic upgrade imo. Great vid as always!

I find the launch control etc having to switch this and that a bit time consuming. My Golf R and 992 GT3 one button that’s it. BMW’s are just too complicated.
