Please could you do a video on how you yourself price jobs, big or small, don’t need the figures of what you charge but would be great to see how you work it out. 👍🏼
Im never sure who Im watching when I don't hear "scott brown here!"
James Moore I know, all those Kiwi’s look alike.
it's always a slow news day in NZ, which is why i'm stoked to call it home :)
A wee tip when grooving the door using a skilly, clamp a piece of wood on flush with the bottom of the door and 200mm past the sides. Gives you a wider surface to balance the saw on and stops it cutting too deep when it drops off the end.
Nice tip
sooo carpenters are sort of like a jack of all trades?
love your videos my guy, keep it up
You’re very thorough SBC.😊
an old trick we used to use when running the ambulance was to smear icy hot (a type of menthol rub) on your top lip below your nostrils...all you can smell then is the tingly menthol! works great! No longer a medic, but I still use it as a plumber
Doing a little favour for the next trade/thinking one step ahead is what a builder should be, thumb up mate.
Love the videos Scott, I've learned how to plaster watching a few videos and practicing on my own house, maybe some day when you get out of your apartment you will have some plaster to repair or some remodeling work you want done and you can take your time to try it out as well as painting. Its not that bad once you get used to working with it and spread enough of it, it is very messy so protect your finished surfaces.
That singlet tan is outrageous
News-worthy in NZ. With the state of the world, I think this is a good thing.
Always good to have clean balls!
Damn I admire carpenters. I even worked as a carpenter helper and loved it. Now I am more or less a construction manager and work here and there with carpenters, masons and etc for the family business. If I would chose a trade would be carpentry.
At 6:16, nice router plate :)
We need more videos! Greetings from Sweden
Nice works boys
Scott, be sure to tell whoever turns up to plaster that they must not plaster behind the shower liner. I always mark on the wall in pencil for them so they know where to stop. Same for paint.
huehuehue thats why I'm a qualified builder and spent two years learning to plaster for cases like these
great vid tho bros
Hi Scott, keep up the good work. Really enjoy learning from your videos as an apprentice in Holland. Cheers for that. Byee
Cheers man 🙂
Haha I did the same exact thing to a slider door the other day totally acceptable method😄🤙
Super cool seeing that plate on your router dude 😎💯👊🏽
Worked a treat too!
Good work, wish I could work in New Zealand with that weather all the time!
Only thing is that is Auckland weather. You get alll 4 seasons in 1 day
Me too
It’s absolutely freezing here in England! Can’t wait for sunny shorts weather haha
Could you make.a video.of how you store and keep organized your drill bits because l always looking through the van for them.
early today, cheers for the video
Meanwhile in New Zealand: "Lost all of the pies". LOL Thanks for including that - had me in stitches! And thanks for the great episode as usual! All the best from Canada!
a nation mourns
it's nice to watch somebody who knows what they are doing and can teach us things! Putting cowboys to shame!
Hi Scott Good day 🤘 thanks for tout vidéo 👍
Hi, you're welcome
@@ScottBrownCarpentry thanks 🤘
greetings from argentina ..,
your faithful admirer
Was waiting for you to bust out the SBE for that groove!
I bust it out in the next exciting episode 👍
Hi Scott. Good luck and good day.
Thank you, same to you
Nice, I know these days everyone just buys pre hung doors complete but would be cool if you get the opportunity Scott to do a episode on actually building the jamb and fixing hinges etc 😀 not that I have 2 to do myself at home and need to see how the experts do it 🤣
grrat vid
Nice job. That floor must have smelt really bad.
Scott, now we why there was a pie shortage in NZ.
That wall was crying out for a pocket door.
Usually put a little valance over the runners and just covering the top of the door. Hides the mech and looks a bit neater
👍 Just catching up - a year later. Where did you mount the bottom guide so it wouldn’t get stepped on (bare foot, middle of the night, half asleep), but would still work?
I do my own taping. Here in Newfoundland but it's too far to co.e to give you a price. I'd love to though
@Scott brown carpentry are you looking for a hammer hand at all??
Hi Scott, just been wondering any ideas to firmly mount a wallmount washing machine?our carpenter tried it twice on a brick wall and it always gets loose and bolt and machine got fall out
Hi Scott, for this kind sliding door(hand on one side of wall, not inside cavity one), how do you put a lock on it?
Hi Scott, if the sliding door it placed from the other side of the room. Are you still able to attached a door latch onto it?
RIP pies. :'(
Hi Scott, why not tile the shower. Great vid mate
Can u show video of installation of skylight from last weeks . Pleease
The music is almost as good as the video, keep it up Scott..
Yea that's what us vinyl layers get to deal with imagine what it's like when we have to go around the toilet cause they won't take it out. The vinyl on top of vinyl is cause some people are lazy or depending on the age of the house sometimes they would lay over it cause it was asbestos back vinyl.
ALWAYS BLOW ON THE PIE!!!
gj sir
Will you be building a box over the rails / track to hide it or leave exposed?
Going to build a box
pay for flights from the UK and I can sort your plastering :)
Don't think I've ever used a router for that bottom groove, always used a saw.
How about those slide handles, need to offset them so the screws dont hit each other. Been caught out a few times.
you can wash your balls in here ... best line ever lol
Morning guys ,0555 upload 🤔...was that a late night or early start 😆 1700 here in London !
Finished the night before. Scheduled it to upload first thing 🙂
Would be great to know the name of the door sliding hardware... anyone?
how come i see no views for this vid but 27 comments? nice vid guys
Hey, just wondering what board u used in the shower recess? It looks like water resistant plasterboard, but as far as I know that shouldn't be used in regularly wet areas.
Pessimistlad its gib aqualine but it will be covered over by a shower lining which I think you can just see in the corner of the video
Gib Aqualine.
@@incync6551 Ok. I'm used to Gyprock Aquachek, which can't be tiled on or used in high moisture areas. It's pretty much just used for the rest of the bathroom/laundry. A 6mm fibre-cement sheet called Wallboard is used for tiles/showers.
We use aqua line in nz for tiled showers, the internal corners have flashings put on them before the plasterboard goes on as a safe guard, its a reinforced, water resistant plaster board. Tied showers are still waterproofed and everything afterwards so there really isnt a problem
@@pessimistlad4965 people do the same here too mate, using a cement based board as a solid substrate. As InCync said though, its all waterproofed before tiles anyway. So you see both those ways.
Seemed like a rough day
Wasn't too bad in the end 🙂
yea mate some free pies 4 u lol
Dumb question. Is it summer or winter in New Zealand, I'm from the states where its winter
End of summer now
It's always the opposite. We have Christmas in the blazing heat of summer
@@tubestick00 thanks
@@TheBoufhead thanks
Was that a day's work? ... We need to talk time and motion haha.. jk
Scott brown.
Here.
Scott I will come and plaster it for free... I'm in Australia though. Book my ticket and accomation I swear I will come. Just to be on your next vid..
always blow on the pie... truck
Chuck a latex glove over the toilet waste pipe if there are smells coming from that as well
too bad, i do plastering and painting, but im in melbourne
new zealand door is 6cm shorter than australia's
Please, escott did not understand what you showed in your video.
why not make a pocket door?
bobbinsnest what's that?
@@MsElijah16 a pocket door is when you put the sliding door into the wall cavity. It is a little more work but it is neater and the sliding door is not in the way
Yeah we offered that, definitely better but a bit too expensive this time
@@ScottBrownCarpentry thanks for the reply. I've never had a response from a celebrity before 😊
Couldn’t you have put the groove in the door using the table saw as two of you could have held the door upright and slid it along the fence fairly easily ? Only an idea
If you are going to do bathrooms you need to learn to do your own plastering and painting. The trick is doing it to a reasonable standard or the whole job can look shit. (im a painter and have seen some pretty crook builder plaster jobs. If in doubt just put extra mud on and sand it back)
I'll leave it to the pros 👍
As an American we are the only people in the world who measure in feet and inches. So I never understand what the hell you're talking about when you measure 😂. Everyone else out there with me?
In the UK we use a mixture... like "I'll need a 3m length of 4"x2"" or "let's get 3 8'x4' sheets of 18mm ply" :)
@@ironpirate8 dude I'm dead just thinking about how complicated that sounds 😂🤣
no views club
just plaster it yourself. how hard can it be for a carpenter to use a pair of spatulas? oh i forgot, carpenters cant even use a caulk gun properly :D //a former painter turning carpenter :D
