I bought this nail gun as we were planning to renew all the fencing in our back garden. As this involved 19 double slatted fence panels, 10 of which needed to be cut down in size, we knew there would be a need for a great ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHQsUrwNr5GQrnx9V4xDdUr56qxwuiBHt deal of re-stapling the wooden slats to the wooden framework. Each alteration required the re-stapling of 62 wooden slats with double staples. Prior to starting the work we ordered sufficient additional staples as per the instructions with the gun.The gun performed fantastically throughout the entire project with no jams of misfires. The adjustable power was excellent allowing the staples to be fired into the 8mm slats to the correct depth. For the price paid this was a bargain and it proved itself to be so reliable and versatile making an arduous task much quicker and professional. I cannot recommend this product highly enough and it will be used on many other projects in the future.
Paerau making sure to keep the freebies coming plugging the Airbow ......quick thinker that boy
I always look forward to your videos, it's so interesting to see the difference between building in other countries and Norway. And you manage to make it extra entertaining. Keep up the good work! :D
I learn something new every time you post a video! Thanks Scott!
I had the same problem with the nail depth when I got my Dewalt Nailer. Sent it back to Dewalt and they sorted it out. Shoots fine now.
Loving the videos guys. I had this problem with my dewalt gun. It had been a while since I had used it. I forgot it had a depth adjuster for size of nails you are shooting under the rafter clasp! Worked a treat when I changed that! Lol. The hitachi looks sweet though! Keep building!
"time for a beer" - Someone been watching crazy framer!
A quality video like always! I love your tracksaw, it is awesome. And keep up with the little fact, they add a nice touch to your videos. Cheers from Holland
Great video, I like how you show us what you're working on.
Another great video Scott I had one DEWALT nailer and returned it to the dewalt store and they told me to buy a paslode lol I have 2 hitachi framers now and am really happy with them for the most part only issue was this winter when it was -30 for couple weeks in Ontario batteries would die really fast but I think that can be said for any lithium ion batteries at those temperatures
Great videos! Watch them every day. Always a motivation to work. Carpenter my self. Greetings from Norway :)
all of a sudden your channel became my favorite!! love the content!
Loving the videos from the caribbean here.......i gotta say the climate is similar to that of Trinidad and tobago...cheers!!
I've had two of the first fix guns. I sold the first one as it didn't sink the nails in and improved my swear vocabulary. Bought the 1st and 2nd fix twin pack and gave it another go after reading the machine "beds in" after 1000-1500 nails. I persisted and it sinks 90mm nails easliy now
This
Mines got better with use.
Just 90mm rims it struggles wirh
Greetings from the Midwest in the US. Enjoy your videos. Been in the market for a framing nailer and I been using a Paslode but been considering the Hitachi or possibly the Milwaukee, when it finally comes out. I guess the DuhWalt will work if you only do new frame construction, like you, I get into old hardwood framing timber here and even the Paslode has problems sometimes. I can see why you like that green monster. Would love to see a comparison between the Hitachi and the Milwaukee someday.
Good to see Kiwi blokes doing a no nonsense review in real life situations - thanks for the video (I was actually looking at getting a Dewalt framing nail gun but now will need to do more research).
Great vids Scott! Keep up the good work. Could you plz make a vid on how you guys make up your hinge jigs (mdf or other) for the 18v makita router? Many thanks 🙏
Love from Scotland 🏴
We fix the underlay with screws to prevent creaking
In uk we have the latest version that's fixed the 90mm nails not going in all the way I've had mine since jan and we only do oak exstentions and mine has been tip top and not missed a beat
Nice, look forward to checking out the upgrade some day
Awesome video dude, man I got to take a vacation and head out that way 💯, it’s beautiful over there.
I've got the Dewalt , and only use 63mm nails max on hardwood . I've put 90mm nails on single shot overhead but bounce back is awful . Bump mode is very good . The wind up can get irritating . Works best on smaller nails imo .
Love ur vidz man...
Big fan from Japan
2:35 That's the truck of Pixar movies haha
Good easter egg Scott
"time for a beer"? Someone's been on the Crazy Framer channel!
hahaha
Adam Marshall lol just exactly what I was thinking
I was hoping for a review on those DeWalt cordless framing guns, thanks bro.
I run the Hitachi framer. Love the gun! It hasn't failed me yet even in awkward places I've had to use it. Keep up the great videos!
The Hitachi/Metabo is the best portable framer ever!
Pneumatic? I run Hitachi guns older then me. Heavy but solid. Only problem is the clip loosening and not liking two 8d clips.
I ran pneumatic but doing quick job or punch list the 18v that scottbrown demonstrated is in my opinion a good choice. Yea every tool has a flaw but pros are better then the cons at this time.
Next time you have to cut out a single board try standing on a 600mm framing square, use the side of the board you're cutting to get it at a right angle and press the multi tool up against square. Quick as. Done even need to mark it.
Granted it should work with all batteries but it does perform better with the big flexvolt batts
Love the video, can you ask your plumber mate to do a van tour aswell
Yea I want to know what he thinks of the transit
Hot tip... if you have clamps for you track saw rail, you can cut the door down in place without taking it off the jamb.
Works for festool track, I’m sure makita would work too
Also, I’m loving your videos from Australia
I'd like to try that
I’ll try find the post where I first saw it
Great idea
If you didn't live on the other side of the globe, I'd like you to do all the carpentry work in the house I'm building! You are really good because you take care of every detail to perfection!
Where are you based Primula Rossa?? 🤣🤙
@@jamesbailand4311 You should be clearer because I didn't understand your message! I'm sorry!
Bro we do all our own minor plumbing. Saves time on waiting for the plumber
Seeing that clean edge on the door may have sold me on the value of a track saw.
All of my battery operated nail guns are Hitachi. Hitachi seems to fire the nail all the way in with virtually no ramp up time; however, they are a bit heavy. My philosophy is to use a tool that works for the job. Cheers from the States
Love the videos, any chance of making them a bit longer?
As a vinyl layer we never use tile board to put vinyl on, maybe ply at a stretch but the tile board is to porous for our glues to work correctly.
Would a coat off feather finish fix that?
@@mrhogno yea potentially but think the reason it's never allowed for is cause most people tend to want the fast cheap option and that's always to put 4.75mm thinline down and lay.
Scott did you take note which gen the dewalt nailer was? The type 3 has improved loads it has the insides of the concrete nailer!
I have the dewalt 15G finish nailer and the 18G Brad nailer, both sound just like the dewalt framer but work awesome. I don't think I'd get the framing gun you showed in the video and didn't like.
From USA VA to my man in New ZealaN. see how I did that? looks like that framer is the best thing since the Paslodes. have you used any of the trim nailers? be nice to see a review on those.
Scott brannon here.. Does anyone else hear that all the time? Lol. Like your videos a lot.!
We had the exact same problem with the Dewalt. Even nailing LVL beams together we had to sink every nail with a hammer
Best episode yet bro!
Where do you get the air bags from to lift the door... very good idea bro
2:00 you went past our office mate!
Scott what is your take on Sydney Opal Tower and is there any tall buildings like that in NZ?
having spent 2 months free camping in NZ i enjoyed Paerau's long drop joke more than i really should have XD
That mini airbag you used to lift the door, brilliant. Please give us some details of the make
Search UA-cam for *Winbag* and *Air Shim* . There's video reviews about them.
Good old get to work at 6am finish packing in at 7.30 in nz 😂🙏
"Did he die".....wasnt expecting that...nice....original....you two make building vlogs fun...
ive fired over 10k nails with dewalt, i find the only way to get all the power with it is on bump fire mode, using the momentum to not let it kick you back putting the energy into the nail, for over head work i prefer my paslode due to wait
It’s mostly people not using it correctly my boss has a gen 1 another bloke has the gen 2.
gen 1 had no problems with.
gen 2 was trouble from day one no power took over a year to come a little better now it’s serviced it’s better
You need to pull the trigger before the flywheel spools up on single shoot,
And bump fire works well
Just wondering, is that the type 3 Dewalt framing gun? or an earlier model?
Mean episode thanks for sharing
Purchased a Hitachi framing and finish nailer last summer (2018) and have not looked back since.
Hitachi for the WIN
How do you find the size and weight of both of them? That’s the only thing holding me back
Do u have any problems shooting 65mm fitout nails like not shooting the hole way in
Google Isevil - No issues re weight on either of my Hitachi guns. They’re comparable to
Just about every other brands.
My main concern when choosing was which brand has the highest quality and would not interfere with hardwood.
Not only that, but you can see the MASSIVE sound difference from both the Dewalt and Hitachi on this video.
Hitachi is equivalent to an electric car where the Dewalt is a bad out of hell mustang.
I’m trying to preserve my hearing for the KK g run.
adam nankivell - I have not experienced any issues thus far. I’m a remodeled, so I deal with all sorts of wood species and nail sizes.
My Hitachi cordless framing nailer is an absolute beast.
I am very happy with my purchase and will not look back!
Knobs and Knickers would probably be about to source a replacement hinge for that one.
That noise would drive me nuts
what model is your hitachi? can you do a framer video explaining everything about them?
Yet another exciting video.
Most builders in Australia seem to use the 75mm Framing nails, how did they go through the native timber Scott? Great video as always cobba!
Isn't that because the framing is 75x35mm or something or rather.
Charge you for 90mm use 75mm?😂
Weird ive had mine for over 2 years. Works great and only in the most petrified of wood will it be proud, even dense psl's. Its jammed only like 5-10 times ever and its an ez clear. Ive never used the hitachi one though, maybe ill get that one if mine bites the dust (obviously out performs). I dont feel bad though i got the gun, 2 5ah batteries&charger for 220$ CAD off craigslist so well worth it
Nice video man
What model and type was that DeWalt framer? The DCN692 type 3 is meant to be the best one yet.
hey Scott whats that saw tool that you cut the floor boards with? its awesome!
It's a multi tool
1:16 “maybe it’s a long drop bro..” 😂😂😂😂
😂😂
Another interesting video. SBC😎
Just try smaller diameter of nails , and everything would be okay . I had same problem and that help me.
First big fan if van setup
they say the flexvolt batteries sort out the seating nails problems, but its a lot of cost just to make a tool work as it should
MrSteviegall it hasn’t consistently made a difference for me.
What about ECKO Ultimate90, have you tried this?
would you believe that someone reno my bathroom and stuck the tiles directly to the floor boards..no fiber board.. now after this years long dry spell and the house moved, I have a bathroom full of broken tiles....what is better for redoing the floor tiles or vinyl
Metabo HPT (Hikoki) alllll day on cordless nail guns!! 🍻
I want 4 videos a week pleaseeeeee!!!!!!
those acer pencils any good?
Sweet as man
I had the dewalt framer and returned it for the hikoki. It was awful, never sunk nails into pine and the flywheel kept sticking and had to go into warranty repair
fancy hammer, track saw but no coil gun?
I had the Dewalt gun at work. It lasted about 15.000 nails then no more.
Saludos desde Atlanta
Winbags for the win!
Hey Scott, I’m a carpenter from aus and I noticed you hand nail your tile underlay, and it got me thinking... iv never seen you use a coil nailer? Do they get used in the trade in nz? If so Id love a review on the brand you use. I am currently running a paslode pneumatic coil nailer,
Cheers bro
we use coil nailer in nz, but not that often, normally for joist hanger nail and weather board nail. i guess scott doesn't have any space to put a compressor in his van.
ma lucas good point brother cheers anyway :)
Man u guys rock the multi tool all the time, went and got a Makita... but mine sucks... dunno if its the blades i get or what 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️. Cutting through a 2x4 i gave up and pulled out the sledgehammer.. trying to cut through some 4 inch nails i burn through a ‘metal’ blade after 3... ready to throw this tool in the trash, mate!
It's the blades mate for demo try sabersaw.. also a trick is if it starts vibrating in your hand its binding up not cutting so ease off n let it cut or support what you are cutting .. hope this helps cheers
Ive used my dewalt nailgun for 4 years. Havent had one problem with it so far. If im shooting into hardwood I usually use the air framer
Well that sounds like a problem then lol
You have to pull out a pneumatic tool when the battery powered one can't do the job.
That's a problem right there. A big problem.
I mainly work with pine anyways so the battery gun works fine for me. All my tools are dewalt anyways so yeah thought id keep the battery’s all the same
We tried out the dewalt electric framers for 6 months stick framing and they are useless, every 10k nails you are ment to service it with a spring kit, within 1-2k nails on a new springs the nails will start staying proud even in lower grade pine. The drive pin wears out really quickly too and will start snapping nail heads and get them stuck in the shaft. We bought 3 of them and 2 out of 3 had that specific problem, all of them left nails proud.
Why unscrew the door hinge? Why not just pop the pins out with a nail set. That's what I do idk if its different in New Zealand
I'd love to see a Kiwi electrician in a video.
every plumber I've met uses Milwaukee... also every plumber I've ever met over charges... gotta pay for all those pricy tools...
You need to change the battery to the flexvolt 9ah or 12ah otherwise the Dewalt struggles on the long nails, it's a pain to say the least
Im kinda suprised that there is no insulation on the floor, but I live in Greenland, so guess its the reason.
Paerau may want to be careful about burning old painted timber. If any of the coats of paint are old enough they may contain lead. It was used up until about 1970 in Aust so NZ is probably similar.
He just wants to be careful. Grinder cutting underlay when scoring/snapping would work.
@@TheStrathmoreChannel I mean the stuff he literally took as firewood.
You should try the makita nailer
It’s shit. Paslode better than the makita. I want that hitachi though
use a higher amp battery for dewalt? you only had the tiny one on there
Hey, is that the dewalt type 3 framer or the 2.
I had type 2 it was shocking. I now use the hikoki (hitachi ) in aus.
I just got sent the 3... keen to know if the one ur using was 2 or 3
Should try Milwaukee tools
What is the name of that inflate thingy for under the door?
Win bag.
With the hardy board why don't you put a sponge on the blade to deal wit the dust? It's the best solution I know
Here,
Scott Brown
As always
Hey Scott, we were given some DeWalt tools to test a few months back. We were not happy with any of them. The strap nailer for structural nails jammed so bad after the third nail that we couldn't even get it cleared, and the framing nailer is junk! We never have any luck with it inconsistently sinks nails, jams easily, long ramp up time before firing, and don't even think about putting it on the rapid mode! We sent all the tools back with significant issues with all of them. They definately need to step up their tools if they want to stay on a professional jobsite.
Curtis
I've found that the dewalt framing nailer is picky about nails. It wont sink .120 paslode nails with ring shank. It will sink .131 grip-rite smooth shank, even into hardwoods like oak.
I have the Dewalt cordless framer never had a problem and it sinks every nail
The Hikoki has proved the best all round over here for me in the UK 🤘😎🤘🇬🇧
Why do all tradies go to Placemakers when for average joes it’s the most expensive?
