And so it's come to this 🙂 Let me be the first to thank you for an incredibly entertaining, informative journey through a series that I've seen analyzed left and right over the years, yet your videos never failed to make me think and (re)consider my views on both the show and its messages. What right did she have to undo the lives of, potentially, billions throughout multiple quadrants just to save a handful of people? How many children were never born because of her meddling? It's the most un-Starfleet thing to do and she's celebrated for it? Unbelievable.
And thank you for joining us on the ride. Always enjoy seeing a face from the earlier vids, even if all the bloody usernames have changed now. The problem with placing such an organisation central to the concept of the Federation as a whole is that it becomes too important to risk letting people know it's fallible. Which only makes it worse of course.

I think my biggest problem with this ending is the abrupt end of it all. Big Kaboom and Voyager just flying back to Earth. I really wanted an epilogue episode where we see the ship land on Earth, or where everyone gets to meet their families again, or where Starfleet does the obvious thing and integrates all the Maquis crew into Starfleet, and gives everyone including Kim promotions for time served. But no, that last part especially about giving Kim a promotion, never actually happens.
Well, DS9 has the opposite problem - they become a little self indulgent in giving everyone a big good bye. Next Gen got it about right with All Good Things... We could have used way more time dedicated to wrapping up plot lines, but we're still miles ahead of the GoT finale.

I only found this series recently and while I’m sad it’s already over, I now get to go back and enjoy it all from the beginning. You did an amazing job just off of what I’ve seen so far. +1 sub
Here we are... From the humble and live-reaction feeling beginnings of the ar*ehole watching The Caretaker to the, still rather humble but more streamlined Endgame review by a pedant! I hope you have had as much fun as I. It's been a blast, I especially enjoy your honesty of this series. Although tongue-in-cheek at times you always come across as genuine. Good job on this show and best of luck with new projects! 🖖
Thank you SOOO much for all of these, you have made me re-enjoy the series as well as utterly enjoying your commentary, jokes and insights. There have been a number of times I've had to stop the one of your recaps and rewatch the episode, before continuing to watch your recap. And many times I have laughed aloud at your delivery and jokes. Looking forward to your future content. :)
@Unlimited_Lives, it's been an honor to be part of the journey. I've been watching these videos since about the 5th episode of season 1 signed: The crewman responsible for knowing where the scissors are kept
Does everyone really think Voyager was inside it because they fly through the explosion? Just before they were talking about all the different collapsing transwarp routes and they show multiple curves and pathways. I thought they looped around and arrived directly behind the ball.
I've always wanted to go to a Trek convention where Robert Picardo is doing Q&As at, just to ask him whether he thinks the Doc chose to go by Joe in this timeline, or chose a different name (and if so, what?). Also, considering how DS9 turns out (not gonna spoil things for you any more than they already likely have been), I really, really doubt the Federation are all that interested in throwing the book once more at some probably-by-now-recalcitrant-and-former freedom fighters. Federation prison is downright humane, even for alleged terrorists. The Federation is probably willing to chalk up their sentence to time served in the Delta Quadrant.
Bellana Torres being appointed as an ambassador is such a weird career shift... I suppose it's no worse than Worf, but he at least had an 'in' with the new boss of the Empire... Maybe Martok heard about how she broke a coworkers nose and thought "Hey, that's an ambassador in the making"
3:37 You think that's weird? It also has exactly the same lights as the Bank of China building in Hong Kong did on a random night about 400 years earlier.
Thank you for making these videos, and enjoy your well-deserved hiatus. Looking forward to you covering DS9, as I’ve been watching it with my wife to introduce her to Star Trek. Cheers!
Good luck Space and Skull Dogs! This episode did its job, at the end of the day , that's all I can really say about it. It was certainly no "All Good Things" but at least it wasn't the last episode of Enterprise.
Honestly sort of glad in hindsight that Seven just got herself a girlfriend because I had doubts the relationship with Chakotay would last. It felt purely like Seven (and the writers) just felt obligated to jump into a relationship as the next logical step
@@Unlimited_Lives Well... Compared to being stuck with someone 30 years in a tin can with everyone outside trying to getcha... Kim for instance described his years in deep space as a "long weekend compared to Voyager" . Time flows differently the longer you experience it. Plus; as the doctor said: He Will Stay Good-looking (aka young) Forever. (Unlike Paris) To Joe, even long living races will soon be nothing but toddlers, and his wife is just human. A hologram that never sleeps or tires probably wants several wife's. One to care for one for dating one for conversation. He probably goes doctor Manhattan eventually............ 😅
When I saw this episode when I was a kid, I liked it. I don't think I hate this episode now, but it could've been better. It would've been nice to have seen the Voyager crew disembark and meet their friends and family, and see what happened with the Marquis, the Equinox crew, and what everyone was going to do now that Voyager was home. I know we've found out what happened to some of them from "Star Trek Picard", but we shouldn't have had to wait that long.
The Borg Queen got the Thanos treatment, by future Janeway that went back in time to prevent the death of two of comrades. And this feature length episode called *Endgame* I smell an inspiration going on here.
Fantastic as usual ! Thanks for all of it, its been a real pleasure and i cant wait for Ds9 as I think it is a great show. As for Endgame, I want to know where Captain Braxtons clan were ? I cant believe they would spend a whole episode killing off Seven over and over again to uphold the temporal prime D and then allow Admiral Gunslinger to eradicate an entire timeline and potentially trillions of lives! Maybe the Capt outlawed timecops when she got back to Earth ! Woof
"And now, the end is near. And so we face the final curtain." I enjoyed hearing your takes on all of this. Heres to hoping you do the best series next. (Ds9) edit, heard the end, 😊
Discovery or Picard could be a very entertaining next step for this series, as they're a goldmine of plot holes/conveniences, and so much more nonsense to tear into and digress about, eg his commentary on the infamous Turbolift sequence alone would no doubt be hilarious, as would a "pointlessly spinning ships" counter, though 'sadly' most watching this probably haven't seen enough of either to make it worthwhile. :)
Great run sir. I have enjoyed every episode, in some cases more than the episode itself. Espedially if its a "you know who"-centric episode. I formally request that the bullseye hi-hat should remain going forward.
Hmmm... what did the viewers want to see at the end of Voyager? A. Tom reconciling with his dad, and introducing him to his daughter in law and grandchild. B. Tuvok, reuniting with his family, meeting his grandchild, and getting his life saving mind meld. C. Harry, finally getting the promotion he should have received around Season 3. D. Janeway and Chakotay finally ending seven years of romantic tension and banging like they TOTALLY did in "Resolutions". E. A bunch of stuff that doesn't matter because the timeline was erased. If you answered E, you're a Voyager writer.
Great vid. I really enjoyed this finale when it first aired, and I remember shedding a little tear at the same time as Harry Kim. Voyager had many faults, but is still a good enough series (despite its many flaws). When it was good, it was very good. When it was bad, ugghhhh. I agree completely that the Borg were very overused, and it just weakened them as the Ultimate, Unbeatable Bad Guys. But I think they were the fitting conclusion to the series. 0:11 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Glad you slipped that in for old times sake.
I used to really dislike Dwight Schultz showing up in Star Trek so much, but know I've grown to appreciate the continuity of it. In TNG engineers under Geordi were mentioned weekly but the names were always different, so extras could play them. The repeated names had no faces so they didn't have to keep track of the actor. This was not the case for Barclay who was mentioned all the time, even when Dwight Schultz was not appearing. The fact that they took the time to follow where he went after the Enterprise crashed and he took up holo programing was actually pretty interesting and the fact that Dwight Schultz returned to a role that was supposed to be one and done multiple times shows commitment and dedication.
Wow that thing about the off-set logo made go an hour into staring at the screen. I couldn't believe a 3d-modeller would make a circle inside a rectangle and somehow get it off-centre, they had snap-to-grid and centre object A with object B and so on in those days, in 3DS or Lightwave or w/e they used. It does indeed appear to be 11 windows (or 11½) and 10 (½) on the other (our right) side. In both daylight and nightime versions.
First, thank you, Unlimited Lives, for condensing down Voyager in a very entertaining way. Second, I am surprised you didn't bring up how deus ex machina the borg train station was. If the borg had the means of getting to Earth super quickly, why didn't they just send every cube they have there in a gargantuan and sudden invasion? A target the Queen has had eyes on for a while?
I really wish there was one more episode after this to show the ramifications of the people getting back (a bit like after Picard was absobed into the Borg)
been on this channel since season 3, never missed an episode. I wanna say I can't wait for the DS9 series but I barely even finished TOS yet so ig I might hope on the wagon too late, and I haven't even touched on TNG
I just realized that the four male human (or human looking) main characters on Voyager are Thomas, Harold, Joseph and Chakotay. One of these names is not like the others 😅
Overall I enjoyed my time with Voyager, and this review series too (great job!) I found endgame to be, not what I expected. It would have been nice to have scenes with the crew reuniting with their loved ones, at least the ones with names. Throughout the series there are always hints at this huge reward of a finale where we get to see each person do their big thing once they get back home and having it missing in the finale left me a bit unsatisfied, but I understand why the ending was the way it was and the value of leaving things open for the viewer to think about.
This has been a great ride. I came on board mid season 2 I believe and have enjoyed it. Glad we got a couple more videos left. This episode I didn't hate either, unlike many. I don't think it's good either and it has so many problems, many you've mentioned. I still find it odd a borg space whatsit would be right by Earth. Also I feel it's safe to say the Borg were destroyed?? I mean everything seemed to kaboom. I don't count nu trek so I'm assuming that's the case. I feel this series needed an epilogue episode to give it some kind of closure. Maybe set it 6 months after the present stardate events of this episode, to get an idea of where things went. Or set it in the same time as teh future scenes just with the changes. I've said before I don't like nu trek but I did appreciate picard season 3 dedicating a fair amount of time to doing that. It went badly for everyone involved particularly making Riker and Troi complete c-cks but still the effort is appreciated. And I fee that was needed here. I'm actually indifferent to the time phookery in this one. I typically hate time travel but it seemed as good of a reason as any to have the crew jump home at the end.
Congratulations on finishing all seasons of Voyager. I was a teenager when Voyager kicked off and I adored it at the time. Buying the two episode VHS cassettes from my local John Menzies when they came out. As I've aged, I've found it harder to enjoy. I'm not sure why? Maybe I'm just a grumpy old fart now and it's slap dash approach to Trekkin doesn't sit well with me now. But your reviews have not only given me a reason to revisit, but your fresh eyes on each episode have opened up new ways of thinking about some episodes. Adding a depth I didn't see as a spotty teen. I would ask who your favourite character has been. But there isn't only one answer to that. 😊 #emhlover Looking forward to DS9 👍
Damn, I’m going to miss these. I’m looking forward to DS9, but I’m going to miss the Borg battle bollocks/tactical testicles. Thank you for the laughs, and I’m looking forward to many more in the future.
I wonder how Ensign Grandma feels knowing her future grandchild just got erased from existence because Janeway wanted to come back to give the Borg one last middle finger?
@@kbanghart Out of dozens of eggs and billions of sperm, the likelihood that exact child was born again is essentially non-existent. She might have another grandchild, but the original one? Completely erased.
The bad shit what she done when she was borg 😂favorite line! I also prefer timey wimey time travel I truly appreciate all your work 💚🌹💚 this was very enjoyable and I look forward to the recap.
I remember, years ago, having a discussion about this episode (with someone, not talking to myself ;)). I think we felt that it was a typical Voyager episode. Not bad but not great either. It could work as a two-parter that wasn't a finale if they didn't get home but still made progress. I do think that it is an entertaining episode if nothing else. It's typical Voyager with elements like time travel and Voyager embarrassing the Borg. As well, with it ending right as they get home and that's it, series over. It's a moment that when it first aired, we (if not all then probably most) were waiting for. But, then that was it. Enterprise (i.e., a prequel) was the next series, so it was the idea that outside of fan fiction, at the time, it seemed like we'd never really know what happened next. Yes, the future scenes sort of did, but that's a different timeline after the events of the episode happen. There's certainly worse ways to spend the runtime of the episode. But, there are better ways as well. It's one of those series endings that feels like there's so much more they could have done. Not that bad, but not that great either. It does what one might expect a Voyager finale to do but that's about it.
Coming from the other side of the argument, while I LOVE time travel shenanigans, I actually hated this episode’s use of it. If for no other reason then because it’s been done already… *TWICE* Like, they could have done this WHOLE episode exactly the same WITHOUT the use of time travel and it would have been just as good. That has been my sole complaint of this series finale for decades.
I have a friend who thought Chakoty and Seven made a convincing and compelling couple, and was deeply disappointed the relationship wasn’t even mentioned in Picard. Mind you, she thought Kira and Odo were mismatched and unconvincing as a couple.
My issue with the Seven and Chakotay thing was it was just a,repeat from Worf and Diana and Ezri and Bashir all happened in their respective series finales
Thank you so much. This is the first and so far only series i have watched on yt in realtime within an hour or two of uploads every week. What shall i do of a tues and friday eve while dodging work now?
Janeway did it her way. Not only did she lead her crew back home, but she also sacrificed herself to do it, AND dealt the Borg a crucial blow. She threw the protocols out the airlock to make it happen. Janeway was the ultimate TREK badass. The Chakotay and Seven "romance" is regarded almost universally as bullsh*t. Technically he was twice her age in the show, which made it more creepy. I thought the episode did what it needed to do, and I didn't need to see the aftermath with Starfleet hearings and trials of the Maqui.
Before actually watching this I'll state my opinion: I really liked this episode and thought it was one of the few good series finales we've gotten over the years (looking at you Lost and GoT). OK, now I'm ready for him to ruin it for me as I watch to the end.
Interesting reviews, thanks. I think all of the Star Treks did something better than the others. Voyager was probably the most 'thrilling', most tech focussed and 'tight'. I enjoyed it at the time, but looking back on it, it feels like there's a host of missed opportunities and they half forgot about the central premise of every resource being critical and the timeline. The finale kinda highlights it, thrilling borg episode, tight enough script, but the relationship with seven and chakotay making no sense, the time travel being too absurd giving them god-like abilities, too easy a way out. I think Voyager tried with continuity in the earlier episodes, but the Kaizon were poor villians that outstayed their welcome, but I think that may have put the producers off the idea and they reverted back to stand alone episodes only.
For all of its faults, Voyager is still my favorite Trek. I grew up with and, while I was familiar with TOS in my gramer school days, Voyager came around by pre and early teen years. I dare say that seeing a very physically and mentally diverse cast of characters inspired me to see that my Spicey Brain view of the world wasn't wrong, just different with its own strengths abilities. For how the show ended and its final Big Bad, honestly, for what the writers were able to do with their hands being so tied from the begining, it could have been a lot worse and ultimately wasnt that bad. Voyager's legacy seems to be a series that never fulfilled the potential it had from being handicapped by burocratic meddling. But for those of us with Spicey Brains having to operate in a burocratic society, it is rather fitting.
I always thought it was an awesome turn at casting getting Alice Kreige to come back to play the Queen. As good as Susanna Thompson is, nobody can do it like the original.
Today's Thought Experiment: There's precisely zero chance that Janeway didn't scan FutureJaneway's shuttle before she left. What tech did she nick, and what's she going to do with it?
She scanned the weapons systems of course and she's targeting Harry's childhood home.
She swiped any files related to coffee so that she can be the only one to drink Future Coffee
She scanned the futuristic transporter tech, so that she can use it to bring Tuvix back and murder him again. (And again. And again...)
Weapons, weapons, weapons. And discreet weapons storage for her personal residences and workplace.
*and future criminal science techniques in order to cover for her lifelong murder spree.

I've been watching these videos since about the 5th episode of season 1

A good run of reviews. Good run of a one-off Space Dog joke that gained a life of its own. Here's to more.
Thanks. I'm glad to hear there will be a couple of follow-up videos, and I look forward to DS9.
Oh god i forgot the borg battle ball swallowed voyger like it was doing its best impression of the beast world.
That intro got a good chuckle outta me, 😂.
Baby-Lana! Understated linguistic brilliance; you are to be congratulated!
Thanks for the ride! Hope to see DS9 getting the same treatment soon.
She's half human, and has encountered tons of species in the Delta quadrant. Sounds good to me
3:37 You think that's weird? It also has exactly the same lights as the Bank of China building in Hong Kong did on a random night about 400 years earlier.
Thank you for making these videos, and enjoy your well-deserved hiatus. Looking forward to you covering DS9, as I’ve been watching it with my wife to introduce her to Star Trek. Cheers!
Time travel comes in two varieties. Terrible and Doctor Who.
I wholeheartedly agree. Both hearts
25:40 for *family he is the doctor* ... its his nickname at this point. Joe is for outsiders.
That logic only works if his wife is an outsider to him.
@@Unlimited_Lives
Well...
(Unlike Paris)
To Joe, even long living races will soon be nothing but toddlers, and his wife is just human.
A hologram that never sleeps or tires probably wants several wife's. One to care for one for dating one for conversation.
He probably goes doctor Manhattan eventually............ 😅
i found this episode singularly unsatisfying, voyager, not you. im exited to re visit, commander sisko
I never realized Janeway loves gunz almost as much as I do. 😂
The Borg Queen got the Thanos treatment, by future Janeway that went back in time to prevent the death of two of comrades.
And this feature length episode called *Endgame*
I smell an inspiration going on here.
Janeway travelled back in time to prevent Kim from getting a promotion.
did…did you edit out Kim’s pips?
According to Memory Alpha yes, he's a captain now. ;)
FOREVERENSIGN
Originally this was not going to have time travel. But people love time travel, so they did time travel 😂
Great run sir. I have enjoyed every episode, in some cases more than the episode itself. Espedially if its a "you know who"-centric episode.
I formally request that the bullseye hi-hat should remain going forward.
Another Tuvix reference 😂
Remember people that this is Admiral Janeway. Admirals act oddly in this franchise.
Hmmm... what did the viewers want to see at the end of Voyager?
15 seconds and you've already killed me
I used to really dislike Dwight Schultz showing up in Star Trek so much,
but know I've grown to appreciate the continuity of it.
Great run, well done! looking forward to the horror of DS9's 1st season...
Previously on voyager had me laughing my ass off for about 20 minutes 😂
I think a change to the title of this Voyager episode would summarize the episode; the season and the whole series. End Game: Missed Opportunities.
Been a hell of a journey, look forward to ds9
There really should have been one more episode to end it all with. The adventure was nice, but we got so little closure in the crew.
I really wish there was one more episode after this to show the ramifications of the people getting back (a bit like after Picard was absobed into the Borg)
2:12 it's an X on a grid, how the hell did they manage to fuck it up? HOW? I am filled with an intense rage
been on this channel since season 3, never missed an episode.
I wanna say I can't wait for the DS9 series but I barely even finished TOS yet so ig I might hope on the wagon too late, and I haven't even touched on TNG
I can’t wait for Enterprise lol
Bad dadmiral Paris. Perfect
I missed our opportunity to name old Janeway "Jane-Roy"
You are PROLIFIC Captain, I cannot believe we already got here so quickly. Permission to deploy the Tribbles into the Unicomplex?
I just realized that the four male human (or human looking) main characters on Voyager are Thomas, Harold, Joseph and Chakotay.
One of these names is not like the others 😅
Overall I enjoyed my time with Voyager, and this review series too (great job!)
I found endgame to be, not what I expected.
😊 #emhlover
Looking forward to DS9 👍
You make me feel old!
@@ptonpc Voyager is 30 next year. Let that sink in.
Except maybe she still has the grandkid 👍
@@kbanghart Out of dozens of eggs and billions of sperm, the likelihood that exact child was born again is essentially non-existent. She might have another grandchild, but the original one? Completely erased.
@@Here_is_Waldo disagree completely
@@kbanghart Why so? How do you see that exact same person being born in a completely different timeline? Unless Q came and made sure it happened.
@@Here_is_Waldo not the exact SAME person of course, but still a descendant.
The bad shit what she done when she was borg 😂favorite line!
I also prefer timey wimey time travel
I truly appreciate all your work 💚🌹💚 this was very enjoyable and I look forward to the recap.
Good luck space doggies
LOL, appropriate descriptions
If for no other reason then because it’s been done already… *TWICE*
Like, they could have done this WHOLE episode exactly the same WITHOUT the use of time travel and it would have been just as good.
Where are the federation time police?!?! Isn't their whole job? Making sure Janeway doesn't mess around with time shannagins?
But they can't find any time cops willing to go after her!
@@ThomasstevenSlater Fair point considering how Braxton turned out.
I just assume there's a time section 31, working only to ensure their own existence.
Thank you so much. This is the first and so far only series i have watched on yt in realtime within an hour or two of uploads every week. What shall i do of a tues and friday eve while dodging work now?
I hate time travel shenanigans but I digress!
So glad everything works out in the end for all the characters in the lore...
Apart from Ramrod. *cough*
You should deffo do Picard at some point!
DS9 next,yes please
As good as Susanna Thompson is, nobody can do it like the original.
i still think you might like more actually doing a series on modern doctor who
A top five and, please, also a bottom five
