I’m in south Florida and considering a complete career change at 52. I’ve heard this state is one one the lowest paid for skilled trades. I make about $60k now but hate my job. Is it worth it at my age to do this?

I do think you starting from the bottom after making 60k could be a little challenging to start with. But with time I definitely believe you can get back to it or even more especially the more you learn. You Got This!🙏🏽

@TheApprenticeToJourneyman how much did you get paid when you first started? And, what did you do before and how old were you when you became an electrician apprentice? I'm trying to decide if i want to go the apprentice route or the community school route, however, I'm a late-middle aged man looking to get into this trade, do you think it would be a good idea to start this late at my age? Forgot to add, were you struggling, when you first started out, fianancial-wise? Did you need to get another job when you started, or, was the apprenctice pay enough to keep yourself afloat?
@@store8294 How you doing Brother, Hope all is well.. As an apprentice you don’t get paid much especially with little to know experience, the more you learn & your skills get better the more opportunity you have. I worked retail before I decided to become an electrician, I was 30 years old also. I don’t think the age matters I’ve seen guys that are 45 just deciding to start. It really just depends on your mindset and if you’re ready to learn. I wouldn’t say that I was struggling but there definitely was an adjustment period. You got this Brother, you have to Believe!🙏🏽
Apprentice pay does seem too low, it should not be more profitable to be entry level in customer service, sales, etc. that are much less demanding jobs. But maybe it pays off because your pay can scale up pretty quickly as you gain experience unlike many jobs.
@@EileenTheCr0w Yeah man it’s tough starting off especially if you have Family, Bills etc.. But the more experience you gain & get better everyday I do believe it will be well worth it in the long run!
