After the golden age of 80s/90s adventure games, I was on hiatus from the genre, and the game that got me back to my old love for it was Gemini Rue. It was awesome to see the genre hadn't died, and in fact was still around and evolving, and thanks to this game, i was back on track and got to play most of this list. Highly recommend it. Awesome list!
Thanks for the recommendation... already own the game and it will be one of the next few I'm going to try out. :)
Great list, thank you! Love to see this genre getting some attention.
I would also recommend Kathy Rain (Director's Cut). It is relatively new, pixel-art game with Twin Peaks vibe.
Really enjoyed it.
Yeah, heard about that. Will check it out when I find the time, thanks.
Thanks, looking forward to trying some of them out!
No mention for Silent Age?
Maybe Primordia? No?
Broken Age?
Puzzle Agent dilogy (this stretches the definition of point-and-click, but its soo lovely)?
Ok, I guess the Golden Age of adventures never actually finished and we are getting more than enough of these games even now. Good!
I did play a bit of Broken Age but didn't like it so much. Will check out the others you've mention though.. Thanks. 👍😊
Don’t play The Silent Age though, its highly overrated. Maybe it was a good mobile game at its release but nothing more than that, especially by today’s standards in the genre. It’s almost as bad as Trüberbrook but just more boring and forgetable. To even mention it side by side with the games on this list makes me sad.
Great video. Great choices
I loved Hob's Barrow right up until the end. When we finally went inside and began exploring it, it felt like Thomasina stopped being herself. It bugged me how quickly she went from denying the supernatural to not only accepting it but trusting a being she had no reason at all to trust. I kept looking for a way to not do it because it made so little sense.
Well I think she had not much choice but accepting its existence when confronted with it, but yeah trusting is a bit weird. That felt more like it was necessary for the plot than in character. But at that moment I was probably blinded by all the cool stuff that happens at the end and didn't really think about it. :D
kool, this type of games arre alive
This was great
Thank you, glad you liked it. :)
Whata great list! You even put Darkside Detective higher than Thimbelweed Park. Perfect.
Your game laso instantly grabbed my attention. I instantly rolled back to check its title, before you said it's yours :D
I'm also waiting with high hopes The Legend of Skye.
Glad you liked the list and my game. I've not heard of Legend of Skye... going to have a look. :)
I will definitely check out your game, looks like its right up my ally
Cool, hope you'll like it. :)
Excellent video. UA-cam serves me FPS content almost exclusively, so it's really refreshing to watch a well made list feature in another genre I have always been interested in. Some very intriguing choices, and I know I own every title discussed, bar the top two. Perhaps it's time I use my mouse for some pointing and clicking instead of some aiming and shooting?! Thanks for the recommendations, and I have happily subscribed.
Very kind, thank you. :)
Thanks for the video! Gave me inspiration for future gaming :) Unforseen inidents is also worth a look.
Night of the Rabbit was absolutely incredible, it hit just the exact notes I needed at the time.
And seeing you went with Cat Lady, which is not your classical pnc, I would say Disco Elysium is definitely best adventure game of recent times. It's in fact one of my favourite games of all times.
Wow your own game looks great
Thanks, but I should mention that the backgrounds are AI generated and not my work. ;)
I just subscribed because my taste in games is very similar, go space quest iii and full throttle!!!
Im surprised for the lack of Deponia and Stasis
I've played Deponia but to be honest I didn't like it that much. The characters and writing just wasn't my cup of tea. I have never heard of Stasis though, gonna check that out, thanks. :)
@@GoodPunk yea Stasis is great, play the demo first for a taste but the first game is pretty good. I heard that the sequel is waaay better
Here under 1k subs is crazy to me lol! Thought this was a 50k channel while watching the video.
Maybe someday... 😂 Thank you 😊
@@GoodPunkI think p&c adventure games will come in mainstream fashion one day soon. People will get bored of point and shoot.
That would be really cool, but I doubt it. 😅
Check out „Fran Bow“ if you like dark stories.
I've been searching for a game as good as 'Zak McKracken' for more than 30 years. If anyone loved this game as their favourite back then, and has any recommendations for games that are AS good or better, please respond to this comment. Some of the Broken Sword came close, also The Dig and Indy and the Fate of Atlantis, to give a little more context about my preferences.
I could imagine you would enjoy Thimbleweed Park. It has similar strange vibes like Zak and is also quite challenging.
@@GoodPunk Yeah played that a few years ago. It had its moments but found the ending unsatisfying
Noooo! Paradigm didnt make the cut so sad.
On my wishlist. 😅
Stop saying serieus! Its series!!!
Are you serieus?
