my friend has been talking about it for like 5 years now, and i just played it last month and immediately got addicted, now done with the main quest, the major side questlines and all DLCs. Still there is so much more to do, I love skyrim
I suppose we have different definitions of underrated. Alot of these games on this list not only sold alot of copies but were heavily praised and loved.
@@larkstonguesinaspic4814 Don't forget Prey, SOMA, Bioshock Infinite, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Titanfall 2, CYBERPUNK 2077. GOD DAMN MASS EFFECT. Inscryption has been a widely loved Indie title. All these games released to singing praise, okay Cyberpunk had a rough start but it's widely loved today with a very active modding scene.
cyberpunk 2077 gets passed off by lots of people(because of its horrible release) and bioshock infinite goes from being called an emotionally fufilling masterpiece to a dumpster fire people enjoyed when they were younger
It’s more they are “underrated” in my book deserve more. For example in oblivions case it reviewed well but most people talk about skyrim and morrowind when really I think 90% of discussion should be about oblivion so I see it as underrated for sure
@@jarlwhiterun7478 definitely agree, infinite took a lot of the choice and thought away from the main character and gave it to elizabeth so the PC would feel artificially attached. Infinite has no choice with real consequences either.
@IskandarTheWack right! Unless they mean gameplay choices.... I would agree that bioshock 1 and 2 had the most choice/variety in combat. None of the games have much meaningful story choices, technically 2 does have narrative choices with little sisters, but the execution leaves alot to be desired
Deus Ex HR and MD are two of my favorite games of all time and its an incredible shame Square Soft will never finish the story. They ended MD on a cliffhanger and shelved the whole thing. I loved the freedom you had to solve missions however you wanted and the deep storyline that just kept getting more desperate.
The decision to go to an earlier point in time for the reboot was a genius move in my opinion. Its a shame that my two favorite genres of game are immersive sim like deus ex and horror because those are two game types that cost a ton of money but somehow don't get massive commercial success. That being said MD actually made square a ton of money it just didn't hit their incredibly inflated requirement to make another one and some of that is the fault of the controversy around their "augment your pre order" BS
I don’t know what world we live in where Mass Effect and Bioshock Infinite are “underappreciated” - but I’ll forgive it as you’ve included genuinely underappreciated games like Mercenaries 2 and criminally underrated game Infinite Warfare. It’s a shame people decided to hate on that game so overlooked past it’s good parts, just like with Forspoken.
Soma is a true work of art, there is nothing like it. Bioshock Infinite is my favorite Bioshock by far and Alien Isolation reminds me of old school Resi with the manual save points. Great games.
I do agree about Cyberpunk. That game story and characters are so underrated. It's my favorite modern game and I've lost count how many times I've completed the main quest. Some moments are genuinely tearful given how well written and acted they are.
I firmly believe soma is one of the best games. Psychological horror that makes you think is my favourite of any genre. And soma nailed it through the story
I am playing Deathloop right now and it's great. It's sad, that people seem to dislike it, but for me it's even better than Prey. The concept is fascinating for the AAA videogame and feels fresh, unlike in movies and TV series. My rating of Arkane games I've played: Deathloop > Prey > Dishonored > Dishonored 2
Viva Pinata was the first game I ever played as a child. Game was a gem. I'm twenty five now and I still go back and play them sometimes and I have no regrets. That was was a big part of my childhood and I'll always love it ❤
@@maximusstorm1215 while I consider it the first game I really got into technically I had a game cube at first alongside a playstation 2 but I more recall the Xbox 360 because of how frequently I played it
A pleasant surprise to see Thronebreaker on here! It truly is underrated as I've never heard anyone talk about it outside of the GWENT sphere. The story and decisions you get to make in the game are truly memorable, really shows how well card games can be used as a medium for story telling. I've played about half of the games you mentioned on here (Cyberpunk being my favourite), but I might just now try out the rest!
I don't know how you compiled so many of my favorite games in one list, but kudos! Also, 90% of people are just going to keep playing Call of Duty, GTA, and 2K Sports games, but thanks for highlighting these great games!
18:28 Marble Blast Ultra was one of those simple games that was just so much fun. I miss that era of gaming where developers still experimented instead of today with everything being monetized and games as a service.
Binary domain is my favorite under rated game. Awesome story, fun gun play, interesting characters, and it is short which helps the game not get tied down and it always feels fresh
I like that it has the mechanic to allow you to talk n give orders to your team via your actual voice. Clunky yes , but that's cause of the time. I think it was innovative. And if it was done today it could be better. I also like that the ai learns from you. So if you play your game very stealthy like always hiding behind cover. Ai will start to push and throw grenades at you. If you are very pushy yourself the ai will try to back up and hide in cover.
titanfall 2 is such a good pick. The time warp mission is one of the best levels iv ever played its so well designed. Rivalled only by the same concept mission in dishonored 2
Control is an amazing game. Usually every game, no matter how great it is, is bound to have some less exicting parts, but not Control. I was entertained every single minute of the gameplay and I put around 100 hours in it.
Absolutely!! I kept hearing good things about it but just wasn't interested, so I finally gave it a shot and it ended up being one of my favorite games of all time!
Underrated video games in my opinion: Silent Hill: Homecoming Batman: Arkham Origins Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's Memory Manhunt and Manhunt 2 The Suffering Bloody Roar Project: Altered Beast
I recently started playing Cyberpunk 2077, I was motivated by Cyberpunk Edgerunners to give the game a shot and see what the world of the future had to offer. My god, I had swallowed the hook, line and sinker that was called Cyberpunk 2077. I had gone in expecting that all the side quests, gigs and every interaction outside of the main quest were all redundant as usual. Oh wow, I was wrong... The world building, the characters, the stories, and the attention to detail was astounding. You really summed up my exact thoughts about the game.
cyberpunk was sadly a product of mob mentality, people said the game sucked, and other people just went along with it, and in reality, most peoples problems with the game were technical, which were fixed
@@Snippyyy you are slightly incorrect when the game launched it was a complete mess it had countless bugs the upgrade system people did not like it literally needed to be overhauled two times to make it much more fleshed out remember first impressions always matter also if you spend money on a game you need to make sure the games actually works it it doesn't matter how many patches or updates you put into the game after it comes out people will remember how it was day one if they purchased it if you get it on discount that's good for you but if you got the game on Day One you would have a very different opinion so it's not really mob mentality it's just that everyone who purchased it day one was A beta tester for the first year and everyone else who got the game later on better off waiting a few years for the game to actually be ready with all the patches and updates
One game you might like was aJRPG on the 360 called Lost Odyssey. It was a passion project made by the original team that made the first several Final Fantasy games (1-9) after they left to make their own studio. It mechanically combines all of the best aspects of the old school JRPGs while adding ways to make combat more engaging, has a killer soundtrack by Nobuo Uematsu, and has an interesting dark scifi/fantasy world, and almost noone talks about it. It's a part of their backwards compatible catalog too.
One of my underrated games is Red Faction: Guerrilla, one of the best sandbox games, other than maybe Just Cause. You play as an engineer on Mars, but things happen, and you end up fighting against a tyrannical Earth to free the planet, by blowing up everything in your way. Best destruction, gives me joy every time I play. Give it a shot, you won't regret it.
Amazing video, a game I would add to the list would be American McGee's Alice and Alice madness returns. This series is so underrated and it's a dark but thought pravoking twist on Alice in wonderland sadly though the third game Alice asylum recently got declined by EA after Mcgee made a 404 page design bible on the whole third game and they won't sell the ip to McGee so I highly recommend if you are into the franchise or a new to it. To go sign the petition for EA to reconsider their decision and to show them just how many people would buy the game!
AGE OF MYTHOLOGY. That’s the game I was trying to remember. I almost created a false memory thinking it was Age of Empires that I played as a kid. Now I know what to get on my Steam Deck
Another game that is a underrated gem like Cyberpunk 2077, Prey 2017 and Subnautica is Castlevania LOS 2. I think you may enjoy it a lot, probably even make an ice berg on it. It has a ton of lore and gives an unique end of the world feeling and dread.
Subnautica? Not underrated at all but pretty much mentioned by anyone ever who talks about survival or sandbox games and very often on top of youtube lists.
@@finneogan it's just not underrated. it sold good, rewieved as good, altough i dont think the game is that good. it has good graphics, above average city, average driving, good gun play, very bad close combat and mid skill tree. You guys just want to like the game.
With all due respect to Prey, but I got tired of shooting black blots after +20 hours in game. I saw the ending on UA-cam, and it was really good, but I just couldn’t force myself to beat it on my own
Titanfall 2// Bioshock Infinite//Control// The Outer Worlds are all amazing games! The campaigns are so much fun and exciting! I completed these amazing games and will forever remember the incredible stories and fun game play!
My god hearing that horn and the gibberish voiceline from age of mythology brings back soo many fond memories of playing as a kid. My little brother would sit with me and watch me play that and dawn of war for hours and hours 😊
I really liked the Outer Worlds initially, I remember playing it and slowly discovering the world, finding new weapons, seeing different choices that affect the story etc and thought that if it will keep going better and better it will be my favorite game of all time. But after some time in the game when I thought that I maybe discovered like 30% of what there was in this world I was shocked that it was essentially it, no more major locations, no different weapons or unique things and just the same stuff I already had with higher stats. I feel that compared to New Vegas the game doesn't have nearly as much cool content, it sort of stops abruptly as if they didn't have enough time to fully fledge it out. It was pretty disappointing because at the start it has set my expectations really high. But as I said, at a point in the game where in other Obsidian games you would have plenty to do the content sort of dries up and you're disappointed that it was really it when you expected more. I now distinctly remember this disappointment that there are no more major locations than what I've already discovered because I was sure that there has to be more in an obsidian game. I also don't feel like there were enough unique weapons or other items that would make exploration feel worth it. A lot of the fun in New Vegas for me was searching the world for unique versions of different weapons that were stronger but also had a unique look and name. I always wanted to collect a set of unique versions of my favorite basic guns and I don't remember this aspect really being there in Outer Worlds. As far as I remember the only unique weapons were those sort of gimmicky science weapons that weren't like conventional guns. Maybe I'm misremembering it or I missed a lot in the game but that's how I felt at the time. I think the game was very good on its own but at the same time felt like a lot of wasted potential because of how great it was looking at the mid point in the game. I also remember there being a lot of important choices and endings and while playing I was very excited about subsequent playthroughs where I would try all of those. But when I finished the game and was a bit disappointed I didn't even replay the game because I felt like it lacked this unique content that would justify subsequent playthroughs or hardcore exploration of the world. I also have some thoughts on Prey because it's kind of similar in a way, it is a game I played and enjoyed but there were things that prevented me from enjoying it a lot. Both of those games are like 7-8/10 for me. They were good but they had some shortcomings which prevented them from becoming modern classics to me.
I felt the exact same way about the outer worlds and it’s the only reason I only beat it once seeing the one ending where you side with the guy I can’t even remember his name at this point?! But I knew it was going to have some shortcomings when collecting my first piece of armor and realizing that you had the suit and a helmet???!!! No individual pieces like in many other Bethesda/obsidian games.. For the time they made it in though I felt like it was pretty good
Made all the weirder by the fact that they marketed the game so strongly as being made by the people who made Fallout New Vegas, yet it couldn't have felt farther from that type of experience if it tried. Yeah, it does have a lot of choices and consequences, but at the same time, It's heavily lacking in content, certainly for what's meant to be a AAA game. In that regard, it doesn't even compare to New Vegas. It's one of those games that's really interesting for the first 2 hours, but quickly loses most of that interest due to a lack of new things.
@@nick15684 Yeah, exactly what I thought. Good that other people have also noticed this. A lot of choices is cool if you have a lot of content first, what's the point of adding 23 quest outcomes when there is not that much to explore in the game? I'd rather have 3 outcomes and more content, all those choices and consequences are cool but it's not a replacement for actual content. And to see all those 20 choices you'd have to replay the game many many times and if the game is just not that good people won't do that. I was excited to replay the game to see other outcomes when I was playing it but a few hours later when I've seen that there is nothing more to do I didn't even want to replay the game anymore so there not being any more outcomes wouldn't make a difference at all. They made it all backwards.
@@nick15684 I looked at it like it was a quick “one and done“ and I enjoyed my whole play through from beginning to end but afterwords didn’t feel much like replaying it… Like you said it lacked content- With that said I did think it was a pretty OK game
Your video was recommended by the UA-cam algoritm and I wanna say just how much I enoyed it! It's one of those rare instances when it feels like something was made for you. You manage to encapsulate exactly how I felt about some videogames, ideas that usually go against the common opinion surrounding them, like for Dragone Age Inquisition, Cyberpunk 2077 and Mass Effect 3. Not only that but you mentioned some other games I always wondered myself why not more people tried them, that would be of course Prey, I was mindblowed by how complex it was and shocked by its reception. Kudos for also mentioning gems like Deus Ex and Age of Mythology!
@@FranklyGaming i'll make sure to give some of them a try during my break, your content definitely appeals to me and I'm always seeking persons talking about videogames from a more... Idk even how to put it, humane approach? Past the sum of its parts? You get the idea!
As someone who loved viva pinata back in the day, slime rancher is a game that feels like an unexpected spiritual successor to the series. Comfy environment, light story, creatures to collect, and exploration being rewarded are all things slime rancher does so well.
What an outstanding video! Here are some of my picks: (also thanks for talking about plague tale I wanted to love the first one so much but it was just sooo slow, I'll try requiem now) 1. Mirrors Edge Catalyst - Received mixed reviews from critics and players due to its poor combat system that's forced onto the player and the predictable story, but honestly I don't think either of those are absolute deal-breakers considering it has one of the most beautifully crafted open worlds in any game and the best way to traverse and explore it. I mean the game is absolutely gorgeous and the parkour is so satisfying. I could just run around the map for hours and enjoy every minute of it. While the story might be predictable it provides many polarizing characters and all of the actual missions which is the main part of the game are unbelievably fun. There are also side quests where you climb up these guarded towers and have to work your way to the main data frame to hack in which adds to the experience. 2. Grounded - This is a recent open world survival game released by Obsidian and I'm not sure if it counts as underrated because every critic and almost all players give a 9 or 10/10 when reviewing but I really haven't heard many people talking about this game. Even if it isn't underrated I would still put it because if just one person tries Grounded from this comment it is worth posting. You play as 1 of 4 kids who were shrunk down to the size of bugs and somehow ended up in the middle of a backyard of a suburban home. You have to use the environment to survive while dealing with the dangerous insects. The depth of this game is unbelievable and the crafting system is so satisfying. The world is split into 2 connected parts that expand into as you progress. The combat is fun, the base building is great and has depth, the story is super interesting, and I couldn't recommend a game more unless you don't want to sink a ton of hours into a game and have it feel like its been 15 minutes. 3. The Talos Principle - THIS GAME NEEDS NO WORDS BUT I WILL DO MY BEST. The Talos Principle is a philosophical puzzle solving game similar to the portal series where as you solve puzzles you learn more about the situation you're in. The difference is that the puzzles in The Talos Principle become much more difficult than in the portal games and the game takes an extremely philosophical look on what makes someone (or something), human. Throughout the game you chat over a terminal with a unknown entity that changes the way you perceive not just the game but your entire world. This game isn't for everyone as the puzzles are difficult and there is no action or fighting, no quests or waypoints, just a journey to figure out what is happening.
Oblivion was the first Elder Scrolls I played and it'll always hold a special place in my heart. I agree with you. I used to spend hours just wandering around the world picking flowers and looking at the sky in the Shivering Isles. The bugs were the best though, duping and using paintbrushes oddly lol. I can't tell you how many times I crashed my game and had to go back to an older save because I duped the wrong thing. There is still a town out there somewhere with a house FULL of helms. Or being able to pick anything up and move it around!
I used to always collect the calipers and tongs while playing through the main game and my buddy Jeremy would always bitch at me about picking up useless shit and then when the DLC came out for shivering isles, wouldn’t you know it those calipers and tongs had a use?!
@@BaldingClamydia I can’t remember the guys name but it was a crazy old guy with white hair and I took him so many calipers and tongs he got mad at me in the end and told me he didn’t need anymore
@Turismofoe Gaming I think it's Sheogorath's servant guy. I remember having to look around. Didn'tsome other guy want forks or spoons? Something like that 😁
@@BaldingClamydia no the guy that wanted to calibers and tongs I think his name might be Tobe?? He’s a crazy nut inside of mania that wants the calipers and tongs to be able to hold the clouds under the sky boat that he’s making that’s going to fly?!? Lol Extremely niche quest
I feel like there’s a difference between a “forgotten” game and a “Underrated” one, one should be used for games like Xenogears, Mankind Divided, Vanquish, Thief, System Shock, Killer 7, No More Heroes, Viewtiful Joe, Darkstalkers, Lost Planet, Timesplitters, Metroid, Armored Core, earthbound, God Hand, Earth Defense Force, SiN, Shadow Complex, Dishwasher Vampire Smile, red faction, and Pikmin …. Not BiosHock infinite 💀
I would like to add to this amazing list with 3 games , truly underrated ones that gave me an amazing experience, just like many other games from this list Spec Ops The Line (it made me and many others rethink video games as a whole) Transformers: Fall of Cybertron ( if you have any interest whatsoever in transformers , please please please try this) Stalker shadow of chernobyl or its sequels. (the atmosphere is really alive)
@@damienjohnson3450 true, fall of cybertron is the best transformer game made until yet!! The storyline, the emotions, the gameplay and the pacing, everything is just perfect!!
So happy to see inscription being mentioned Its one of my favorite games i ever played So much replay ability with the campaign and obviously the kaycees mod
This is an amazing video, I just realized that the games I´ve played from this list (maybe half of the list) , are some of the only games that I remember really well, despite playing them many years ago or/and doing just one playtrough. I still remember with full detail that maze sequence in Control, many of the interactions in Mass effect 2 and Deus Ex, truly some of my best gaming experiences. Also, I love Dragon Age inquisition, but if I were to choose one game of the trilogy, it definitely would be DA Origins, even if much of the game design is outdated, it holds an special charm that (In my opinion) Inquisition lacks a bit, but booth are great experiences.
Pretty good list😉 What about Syphon Filter Triology, Tenchu 2, Evil Within 2, Hellblade, DBH, PoP WW and TTT? You should make a Part 2. It has so much potential :)
Okay, so a lot of these are personal faves. Which means you have good taste and I should try the rest of them. Starting with Prey. :D Thanks for the recs. And thanks for loving Viva Pinata and Outerworlds. I loved them both so much. Rare and Obsidian are so awesome.
Age of Mythology, Mass effect, Control, Bioshock Infinite and frigging Elder Scroll: Oblivion in Underappreciated list. Dude you gotta check the dictionary meaning.
I know I'm probably too late here for anyone to notice this comment, but I'll leave it here just in case someone might read it and possibly discover a game they would enjoy. Firstly, I'd like to say that this was an amazing video. It's a pity I discovered your channel only now, but nonetheless, you've gained a new fan. 🙂 Even though many of the mentioned games aren't from a genre I typically enjoy, I've learned about a few that I'll definitely add to the already long list of games I need to play. Thank you very much for the recommendations and for the overall great and enjoyable time I had while watching the video. Two underrated and unnoticed games that I've played recently are from a relatively small, AA French developer, Spiders, called The Technomancer and Greedfall. The Technomancer, being older, has some deficiencies that were remedied in Greedfall, but both are amazing, story-driven, old Bioware-style ARPGs (like KOTOR and the first Mass Effect) with very interesting, fun, and fluid combat systems and great quest design. They are worth a try if you liked old Bioware titles. What really grabbed me, despite some of the flaws (mostly in The Technomancer), were elements like world-building, storytelling, and the real impact your decisions have on the overall story. Oh, and the characters (mainly the companions you have throughout the game, similar to the aforementioned Bioware titles) are simply amazing. They're really fleshed out, making you genuinely care for them throughout the game. I feel this developer is underappreciated as a whole. I believe they make their games with true passion and do an outstanding job, despite lacking the scale of development teams or multimillion-dollar budgets for a single game. They're a really talented and passionate group of guys and gals. They are actually working on a sequel to Greedfall, and I genuinely hope that it will be a significant success for them and bring them the recognition they truly deserve.
Thanks so much for the kind words! And I’ve actually heard a couple people mention them especially technomancer maybe when I have some time I’ll have to check it out
Thanks for mentioning Age of Mythology and Mad Max! Played both of these to death. Age of Mythology Retold is coming up, so that's great news. And fingers crossed Avalanche will make a sequel to Mad Max, I think we've seen enough Just Cause from them ;) George Miller, please make it happen...
Glad you put Oblivion on the list, it feels like its super underrated even know I think it's the peak of the series all there missing is Serana and I would put it in my top 10 games.
Ya I know it was acclaimed at the time but nowadays it’s like everyone forgets about it, only hear about skyrim and moorowind when really I think oblivion is best
@@barneykenway4767 I'm sorry I have no life....this is long and really petty so beware. it definitely is. If not more than oblivion. You have to be a very specific type of person to enjoy Morrowind. A person who doesn't get annoyed with missing a hundred times even though you're looking right at the damn thing because you actually know what the words hit chance means. The type of person to become a god via meticulous potion crafting. A person who enjoys walking at the max speed of 2 miles per hour. Also Morrowind sold around 4 million, and oblivion sold around 9.5 million.....so. that literally tells us that more people bought and played oblivion than Morrowind. So unless you're trying to say over 5 million people that bought Oblivion would rather play Morrowind. And the answer should be obvious that would mean over half the fan base prefers Morrowind when a quarter of the people have probably never even played it. Because Morrowind is non action game. It's an immersive sim like Daggerfall and Arena before it. There is no universe where Morrowind would realistically be loved more than oblivion. But to even further cement my point. The Morrowind subreddit has 149 thousand members. Oblivion has 172 thousand. And for shits and giggles Skyrim has 1.5 million users. Using sales the only way you can say that Oblivion is somehow less popular than Morrowind is via Making ratios of the copies sold and members of the sub Reddit For Morrowind, if I'm doing this correctly, would be for every 26 copies sold 1 person loved the game enough to join the subreddit. For every 55 Oblivion players 1 person decided to join the subreddit. And for fun every 20 Skyrim players 1 joins the subreddit. Well this does show that Oblivion has a smaller truly dedicated fan base that would only matter if oblivion didn't more fans and players in general. Morrowind doesn't win in popularity, it wins in a dedicated fan base, that doesn't equal if a game is over rated or not. So I'll dig up some ign reviews. Who talks about game being overrated if they don't actually look at the rating. From Morrowind out of 81 reviews, remember that the smaller pool there is the more biased it is, we have 96% positive, and 4% negative. With a pool of 289 so an even more diverse pool which makes the poll more accurate, we come at 97% positive with 3% Oblivion. So if more people played Oblivion, more people reviewed Oblivion, said reviewers gave it, Albeit small but still a better score. Please tell me how Oblivion is somehow underated compared to Morrowind? The only thing Morrowind has is a more dedicated fan base but just because a game has dedicated fanbase doesn't mean it's overrated it just means it has a dedicated fan base!
Judy. Cyberpunk, i never played it for the police or for the other things... The Judy Story line... it was gorgeous. Thank you for talking bout it. No one did. Many of these games i have them installed in my pc, waiting for me. You made me feel wholesome. Keep up the good work. Nice video.
What a fantastic video, thank you for all the work on this! Never heard of Viva Pinata, and you also made a good case for some games I hadn't given a chance
Cracking video and some of my favourite games on the list from mass effect1, Deus Ex, Bioshock Infinite Dragon Age: Inquisition and Outer Worlds. Some underrated gems I'd recommend are Greedfall, Kingdoms of Amalur: The Reckoning, Fable 2, Conan (the Xbox 360 hack n slash not the newer ones) & Dishonored. Good channel, I'll be subscribing.
Fantastic video! Unfortunately I cannot play first-person games because they make me extremely dizzy and disoriented, so I am fully aware of what I am missing out on. I do enjoy them vicariously through others. Might I draw your attention to Dragon's Dogma - It is not for everyone, but I have played this game on repeat since 2012
Dragons dogma... Played through it 1 month ago. Need to try it! So much love put into that game, minor flaws and clunkyness that counts as adorable if you can see through it. The relationship with your pawns so special, can turn into a witcherish experience, if u know what i mean . Enjoy! Greatings from Messi's kin!
Dragons Dogma... When I started it, it got me almost instantly. At a certain point it lost me. Got stuck in a city with too many quests open. Still think of it as a good game, I just have to learn to what quests are worth my attention.
@JarPetNee HI. Yes, that is the first setting I change every time. Modern games have a narrower FOV even at max. The only way I really enjoy First person is using mods to expand the FoV beyond, those are not perfect either.
This is filled with bangers. I forgot about a few like overlord. Imma see if I can pick that up for my ps3. But I was recently looking for merc 2 so my son and I can play it. Great video!!
Just played Prey and loved it. Outer worlds hilarious dialogue was one of the only games that made me LOL regularly. Also, I will always remember doing the clone item glitch on Oblivion to clone 1000 watermelons in my house and crash my game 😂
This is one of the best videos I have ever seen on this platform. We can all feel the passion behind your voice when you talk about these gems, I really applaud you for your work on this one. You yourself are underrated, hopefully you get more exposure. Top work mate!
recently seeing your videos, I just appreciate how you feel the game , not just play it …and beautifully describe ….btw Your voice is very relaxing and soothing …thanks man
A few gems that I would highly recommend are This Strange Realm of Mine, Gris, Blasphemous, The Swapper, Furi, What Remains of Edith Finch, and The Wolf Among Us. For some nice music, The Longest Road on Earth and for innovative idea/gameplay, Suicide Guy
can you really call a triple A game with a marketing budget who also getting a sequel and dlcs an UNDERRATED GAME ? most of these games are PERFECTLY RATED a game like prey would never be popular as COD or GTA cause its an immersive sim which only few people like. it not a mainstreamed genre obviously thats why its fanbase is not that big BUT it has its own people like deus ex and bioshock
As someone who only just recently played Mass Effect for the first time, I must say 2 is where I really got hooked. You call it overrated, but even as a new fan, it felt like the better game out of all three for the exact same reasons you and I love Cyberpunk 2077.
Amazing list. A bunch of stuff that I probably won’t get to and yet some great recommendations. Loved the nod to ME 1/3 as they don’t get enough love. But damn I freaking LOVE COD:IW. Replaying it right now and wow the pacing so so good and characters journeys so satisfying
Your opinion about DAI is the exact same as mine. I'd like to add one thing - so much wasted space for the sake of space. They could have spent less time and resources on building a giant world with nothing in it and added better side-quests. I didn't love DAI, but it had enough going for it that I finished the game and the DLCs. The Witcher Tales: Thronebreaker. (I'm skipping your comments). I finally bought it and plan on playing it this weekend. :D Cyberpunk 2077. I own it. In fact, I pre-ordered it. I knew I suffered from motion sickness and headaches with first-person games in the past, but I was hopeful. Alas, I never grew out of it. With the help from the UA-cam community, I changed FOV and turned off motion blur and I can play for a couple of hours before feeling sick. Still not ideal. Mass Effect Trilogy. I've played it so often, I think I owe Bioware money back. lol Thank you for more great content!
By far the best list I have seen on you tube. I feel you actually pulled from your own collection rather than looking up games and meta critic scores. When you dropped age of mythology I knew we had a very similar youth.
Inquisition really was a fantastic game. Its depth and scope isn't obvious initially. It has a great way of unfolding just how massive it is as you go. One of my favorite gaming experiences.
I personally prefer Origins. I played that game to completion more than 8 times. I personally thought the combat and loot in Inquisition were somewhat lacking, what's your opinion?
@@sorrymyenglishbad2535 Preference is obviously subjective. I'm not saying Inquisition is without flaws. I enjoyed Origins too, aside from the Veil. Inquisition has so much more depth, imo.
@@sorrymyenglishbad2535 i appreciate origins more than anything after played dragons age 2. I thought i gonna continue as the grey warden, turns out im playing as random refugees that wanna make a name for himself lol
Deus Ex is my favorite Series honestly. Invisible war as a kid was amazing. But seeing this video right now is funny, as I just started playing Dragon Age Inquisition about 4hrs ago lmao
I really loved the intorduction on these games, all and all thi is a very well put togheter video. Altough calling a list Underrated Games while iot features games like mass Effect, Oblivion etc... miiight be a little bit of a strech haha
Thanks for watching! And ya I guess understated in the sense nowadays I wish more people talked about them more lol I’ve been trying to work on titles getting there 😂
... am I missing a meme or something? Half of these games are not even REMOTELY underrated lmfao several of these have entries on Wikipedia for their accolades alone
41:03 dude I really love your channel and you put out quality content but "Cyberpunk is underrated and underappreciated?" wtf It has the biggest hype surrounding it when it comes to video games, Rockstar, Fromsoft etc never had that much hype ever.
SOMA and prey for sure belong on this list. So many people haven’t even heard of Prey and I can’t see how that’s possible. It’s so good. SOMA is the best existential dread game I’ve ever played - that ending. Damn.
Weird West is truly a great game. Excellent artistic direction, great characters, incredible world design (like you i'm not a big fan of westerns), excellent emergent gameplay... I discover this game thaks to GagGz, a french youtuber who is also an employee of WolfEye Studio. Prey and Pentimen are also one of those underrated gems that I like heartfully. Thank for your great video and your peaceful and pleasant narration.
What a great video! It reminded me of games I always meant to try, but never got around to, like Mercenaries 2. I'll be playing (or replaying) several games from this list. Thank you so much. Liked, subscribed, commenting for the algorithm
Great video. The only games I feel are missing are Undertale and Portal 2. Undertale is, beyond a fantastic twist on the RPG genre, one of the cornerstone of the indie industry and just a really good story with some of the best music video game music to be made. Portal/Portal 2 still stands 10 year later as one of the deepest yet simple to grasp puzzle game ever made. The writing is top notch, the ambiance is fantastic and the game can even appeal to people who are not at all into video games.
More than half of these games were blockbusters and industry movers. I played and loved most of them and I wouldn't say any of them are underrated. It's more of a "these are my favorite games" list.
Thank you for this video, expecially for reminding me about Furi, that I bought tonight and tried it, and it is a blast! I played almost half of the games listed there, and even when I don't completely agree with you, I understand why you put them here. The only exception I feel to criticize is A Plague Tale: Requiem, I really don't think this game deserves to be on this list. But I really loved that you started the video with Prey 2017, the most underrated gem of videogames.
Nope bro, the Plague tale series only has 3 millions copies!!! And still has the best pacing of the story I've ever saw in video games!! It hits even harder after completing innconce!!
Thought it was off to a strong start with Prey and Soma, but I'd hardly consider Oblivion, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Bioshock as underrated... and then Call of Duty? Are you kidding me 😂
@@ReaperShackal underrated doesn’t have to mean unknown, for example the call of duty campaign I listed I think flew under the radar / isn’t talked about enough
Love the video, one that caught my eye was outer worlds and cyberpunk 2077, I’ve tried those games when they came out but could not get into them, I’ll definitely try them again after this video
A Plague Tale Requiem *Spoilers* The ending was so heartbreaking knowing how Amicia spent so long and went through so much pain and trauma, just to protect Hugo in the 2 games, only to have to have failed and ending with him having to die, it felt like red dead 1 but without the satisfying revenge, just sadness
some of my underrated gems 1. Revita is one of my favorite roguelikes! I love how every run feels like a series of tough choices, where you have to trade your HP as currency to obtain valuable items. It adds a new level of strategy to the game, and it's definitely a hidden gem worth exploring! 2. Blood & Bacon is such a ridiculously fun game! It's definitely best enjoyed with a friend but the sheer joy of battling hordes of pigs is unmatched. It's chaotic, silly, and an absolute blast to play alongside a buddy! 3. Slay the Princess Demo might seem strange to mention as underrated since it's just a demo, but trust me, it's truly something special. It's an underrated horror choose-your-own-adventure experience that deserves more attention. I won't spoil anything since going in blind is the best expirience. 4. Patapon 1 is an incredibly cool and innovative game, especially considering its release time. Controlling your mini army through percussion-based commands is such a unique and satisfying mechanic. The fusion of gameplay and music is fantastic, making it a must-play for anyone looking for a fresh and engaging strategy experience. 5. Lethal League Blaze is a game that deserves much more recognition than it has received. It's a fighting game where you hit a bouncing ball at your opponents that goes faster and stronger with every hit. though since it's a hidden gem you will need friends to play with you since all the players are very skilled (aided by chatgtp)
Man,where do you find such obscure titles? The Elder What? Deus Huh? Mass Who? I can't believe these games never got any coverage, let alone high praise. About time someone put them in the spotlight! Really goes to show you how amazing indies have always been!!!!!
I think a great game that could be added to this list would be Kingdom Come Deliverance - its not talked about much but it is still a fun, unique experience.
Kingdom Come Deliverance really isn't the kind of game that anyone can appreciate... and by that I mean 'You won't appreciate it if you don't enjoy fighting to keep your tiny sailboat not only floating but on course in the middle of the ocean during a hurricane at 2 in the morning without any source of lighting or a compass.' I'd highly advise against recommending it to people unless they specifically played Octodad and thought 'fighting my controller is fun but I really need a game that will also kill me and set me back half an hour because I forgot to sleep.'
@@kuronanestimare It is not a game for every but its a unique game and for people that Like a tough game its great. Plus for people like me who like more grounded games.
I look back at my video gaming history and, although I like and enjoy many of the AAA games, my actual top favourites list is 90% full of the more underrated games. Those scored 7 or 8. If you remember the Ps2 and Ps3 eras, those type of games were incredible. This list is amazing congrats! P.S: My favourite game ever (one that I would add to this awesome one) is Deadly Premonition! 💪🏻

hmm too obscure for my liking.

oblivion, deus ex human revolution, alien isolation, dragon age inquisition, cyberpunk 2077 and bioshock infinite are far from being underrated
cyberpunk 2077 gets passed off by lots of people(because of its horrible release) and bioshock infinite goes from being called an emotionally fufilling masterpiece to a dumpster fire people enjoyed when they were younger
Cyberpunk would have been a great game for 40€ not 70 to be honest
It worth the 70 now best game
On the contrary they are overrated
@@angelnobody7137 oblivion overrated?
Are we really calling games like Oblivion, Mass Effect, Alien Isolation and Bioshock Infinite hidden gems?
It’s more they are “underrated” in my book deserve more. For example in oblivions case it reviewed well but most people talk about skyrim and morrowind when really I think 90% of discussion should be about oblivion so I see it as underrated for sure
Infinite is heavily overrated imo. Bioshock 2 is heavily underrated
@@jarlwhiterun7478 definitely agree, infinite took a lot of the choice and thought away from the main character and gave it to elizabeth so the PC would feel artificially attached. Infinite has no choice with real consequences either.
@@light819 And bishock did? That's kind of, the point of 1.
Now that they sold the studio and IP to Embracer for peanuts, we might actually get a sequel...
Yes I am huffing copium, how did you know?
Well, to bring some good news. They are making a new game, but expect it to release on...2025-2027
The decision to go to an earlier point in time for the reboot was a genius move in my opinion.
The carry the penguin through the entire city achievement in MD was ridiculous fun

Johnny silverhand is one of the best videogames character of all time
It's not underrated though lol, many games on this list arent
Wouldn’t be underrated if the just released a polished game from the jump
Maybe thats why game is so bad, we are not watching a movie, in games gameplay is most important
LOL
I firmly believe soma is one of the best games. Psychological horror that makes you think is my favourite of any genre. And soma nailed it through the story
Prey for me is the greatest game of all time. A masterpiece on every possible level.
such an underrated classic, one of my favorites ever too, really hope we get a sequel one day
Yes, but Arcane is not so good with endings... The ending caught me so cold that I had to... Well. :D
I could not get past the early spiders. They just kept killing me. I was sad but moved on. I guess we all have different priorities.
And I actually like that more simplified gameplay of Deathloop in comparasion to previous Arkane games
Viva Pinata was the first game I ever played as a child. Game was a gem. I'm twenty five now and I still go back and play them sometimes and I have no regrets. That was was a big part of my childhood and I'll always love it ❤

Batman: Arkham Origins
Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's Memory
Manhunt and Manhunt 2

It's a part of their backwards compatible catalog too.
just ordered it thx
Outer Wilds and, specially, Crosscode are two very underrated games.
Agreed, should've swapped Outer Worlds for one of those
One of my underrated games is Red Faction: Guerrilla, one of the best sandbox games, other than maybe Just Cause. You play as an engineer on Mars, but things happen, and you end up fighting against a tyrannical Earth to free the planet, by blowing up everything in your way. Best destruction, gives me joy every time I play. Give it a shot, you won't regret it.
Yeah I had a lot of fun with red faction more than many games in the list, the destruction mechanic is unmatched even by today standards.
Such a good game I would play it with my friends on the Xbox 360 we’d play hide and seek sooo good
You're on the planet Mars. Not earth, you silly guerilla!
Reminds me that red faction 1 is better than half life 1 in every single way imaginable. Not even in the same ballpark
The reason it's so underrated is because the gameplay was garbage. I felt like I was playing inferior God of War the entire time.

@@t.t6294 It very much is. The awful launch and the backlash after the hype combined to it being seen as a failure by the majority of gamers.

Titanfall 2// Bioshock Infinite//Control// The Outer Worlds are all amazing games! The campaigns are so much fun and exciting! I completed these amazing games and will forever remember the incredible stories and fun game play!
You mean Outer Wilds right? Please say you mean Outer Wilds.
For the time they made it in though I felt like it was pretty good
Im not gonna read your fkn essay dude
@@nick15684 I looked at it like it was a quick “one and done“ and I enjoyed my whole play through from beginning to end but afterwords didn’t feel much like replaying it…
Like you said it lacked content-
With that said I did think it was a pretty OK game

As someone who loved viva pinata back in the day, slime rancher is a game that feels like an unexpected spiritual successor to the series. Comfy environment, light story, creatures to collect, and exploration being rewarded are all things slime rancher does so well.

I'm glad that you included plague tale series!!!
This game is definitely one of the best I've ever played, definitely in my top 3!!
What an outstanding video! Here are some of my picks: (also thanks for talking about plague tale I wanted to love the first one so much but it was just sooo slow, I'll try requiem now)
2 and 3 would be amazing picks I’ll have to make another follow up one day haha, and thank you so much for watching it means a lot!
Glad to see Outer Worlds getting the shoutout it deserves
Oblivion was the first Elder Scrolls I played and it'll always hold a special place in my heart. I agree with you. I used to spend hours just wandering around the world picking flowers and looking at the sky in the Shivering Isles. The bugs were the best though, duping and using paintbrushes oddly lol.
Just watched your video “Games everyone must play before they die.” And then this pops up. Both great videos!
Ya figured I would make a follow up to the first! Glad you enjoyed both thanks for the support
I AM SO GLAD you mentioned overlord 2 that was my favorite game growing up and im so upset no one knows about it😭
I would like to add to this amazing list with 3 games , truly underrated ones that gave me an amazing experience, just like many other games from this list
Spec Ops The Line (it made me and many others rethink video games as a whole)
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron ( if you have any interest whatsoever in transformers , please please please try this)
Stalker shadow of chernobyl or its sequels. (the atmosphere is really alive)

really appreciate that!
So happy to see inscription being mentioned
Its one of my favorite games i ever played
So much replay ability with the campaign and obviously the kaycees mod
Thanks so much for watching! And you would love baldurs gate 3 if you like origins
Pretty good list😉
What about Syphon Filter Triology, Tenchu 2, Evil Within 2, Hellblade, DBH, PoP WW and TTT?
You should make a Part 2. It has so much potential :)
The Evil Within 2 was a bad game.
PoP WW? TTT? Please elaborate.
Okay, so a lot of these are personal faves. Which means you have good taste and I should try the rest of them. Starting with Prey. :D Thanks for the recs. And thanks for loving Viva Pinata and Outerworlds. I loved them both so much. Rare and Obsidian are so awesome.
Think you will love prey!
Even though many of the mentioned games aren't from a genre I typically enjoy, I've learned about a few that I'll definitely add to the already long list of games I need to play.
My picks would be (in no order):
1. Wandersong
2. Sunset Overdrive
3. Quake 4
4. The Artful Escape
5. Rayman Legends
6. The Order: 1886
7. Bug Fables
8. Smile For Me
9. Virtual Virtual Reality
10. Hypnospace Outlaw
11. Broken Reality
12. Sleeping Dogs
13. Asura's Wrath
14. Quantum Break
15. Driver: San Fransico
16. A Short Hike
17. Everhood
18. Bugsnax
19. Max Payne 3
Personally I would've put Morrowind, but to each their own.
@@craig2196 Yeah but Morrowind isn't underrated. When you bring up elder scrolls its mainly people, arguing about Morrowind and Skyrim.
@@barneykenway4767
I'm sorry I have no life....this is long and really petty so beware.
it definitely is.
Using sales the only way you can say that Oblivion is somehow less popular than Morrowind is via Making ratios of the copies sold and members of the sub Reddit
For Morrowind, if I'm doing this correctly, would be for every 26 copies sold 1 person loved the game enough to join the subreddit.
@@barneykenway4767yeah oblivion is the weird forgotten middle child between MW and Skyrim
Really appreciate that! Thanks for watching and supporting!
Might I draw your attention to Dragon's Dogma - It is not for everyone, but I have played this game on repeat since 2012
Thanks for the support as always slime! And I’ve heard so many great things about it I need to try it before the new one comes out
Dragons dogma...
Have you ever tried increasing the field of view setting? That's known to help
Hope you and your son enjoy it! And appreciate the kind words
@franklygaming thank you so much I appreciate you commenting back and im for sure going to follow your other channels. !! Thank you very much !
Just played Prey and loved it. Outer worlds hilarious dialogue was one of the only games that made me LOL regularly. Also, I will always remember doing the clone item glitch on Oblivion to clone 1000 watermelons in my house and crash my game 😂
Incredible video! I'll totally take a glance at all these games, barely I've played some of them.
Looking forward to a second part of this series!
Thanks so much for watching!
I love these kinds of videos. You do such a good job at making me wanna go back to play many of these 😂

100% on that Prey 2017 suggestion. It is a great game. Also the alternate roguelite/time travel simulation mode is 10/10.
I absolutely loved the wolf among us!!!
@@turismofoegaming8806 Great game with a story that kept me hooked!
can you really call a triple A game with a marketing budget who also getting a sequel and dlcs an UNDERRATED GAME ?
most of these games are PERFECTLY RATED
a game like prey would never be popular as COD or GTA cause its an immersive sim which only few people like. it not a mainstreamed genre obviously thats why its fanbase is not that big BUT it has its own people like deus ex and bioshock
Thank you F. Greetings from Argentina! Have a great 2023!
Thank you for watching! Congrats on the World Cup win haha
Man I would absolutely love a Bioshock Infinite remake. Same game but with modern visuals. Such an awesome game
Glad you enjoyed and thanks so much for watching!
Cyberpunk 2077.
I've played it so often, I think I owe Bioware money back. lol
Thank you for more great content!
Thank you again! And I think you will really enjoy Thronebreaker it is fantastic
Just started and I saw "Prey" thank you so damn much for shining a light on that game and helping to keep the immersive sim genre alive. ^.^v

By far the best list I have seen on you tube. I feel you actually pulled from your own collection rather than looking up games and meta critic scores. When you dropped age of mythology I knew we had a very similar youth.
True!!
Inquisition really was a fantastic game. Its depth and scope isn't obvious initially. It has a great way of unfolding just how massive it is as you go. One of my favorite gaming experiences.
I personally prefer Origins. I played that game to completion more than 8 times. I personally thought the combat and loot in Inquisition were somewhat lacking, what's your opinion?

... am I missing a meme or something? Half of these games are not even REMOTELY underrated lmfao several of these have entries on Wikipedia for their accolades alone
Sleeping Dogs is on the Mad Max level of more fun than it initially appears. It's the best story among GTA-like open world and Hong Kong looked great.
Yessirrr

Weird west feels like what fallout 1 & 2 would be if made today.
Overlord, Deus Ex, and Age of Mythology!?!? Hidden gem indeed. I give it a seal of approval 👍
Oblivion? An underrated gem?! Lol it won Game of the year and was a massive success. Hardly underrated. Def a gem, though.

Yeah but the title of the video are videogames that are underrated, and nobody underrated portal 2 and undertale
More than half of these games were blockbusters and industry movers. I played and loved most of them and I wouldn't say any of them are underrated. It's more of a "these are my favorite games" list.

A Plague Tale Requiem *Spoilers*
The ending was so heartbreaking knowing how Amicia spent so long and went through so much pain and trauma, just to protect Hugo in the 2 games, only to have to have failed and ending with him having to die, it felt like red dead 1 but without the satisfying revenge, just sadness
some of my underrated gems
It's a fighting game where you hit a bouncing ball at your opponents that goes faster and stronger with every hit. though since it's a hidden gem you will need friends to play with you since all the players are very skilled

Bioshock Infinite underappreciated lmfao it sold 11 million fucking copies dude

I think most of these games aren't underrated... They aren't just talked about that much nowadays.
I look back at my video gaming history and, although I like and enjoy many of the AAA games, my actual top favourites list is 90% full of the more underrated games. Those scored 7 or 8. If you remember the Ps2 and Ps3 eras, those type of games were incredible.
