Currently I shoot in cinestyle and in post I use a input lut on a adjustment layer to rec709 then adjust each clip as and if necessary, nice informative blog , thanks
Thanks for this video, really good to see all the profiles back to back. I tried using an M50 for videography (neutral profile) and compared it to my pixel phone. I didn't see any real improvement and I found it was grainy in low light with the kit lens. I'd like to invest in an entry level camera but not if its only going to be slightly better than my smartphone. Would you suggest sticking with the smartphone or buying the M50 and better lenses? Or is there another camera you would recommend for video? Thanks
I’ll be making a video where I’m going to be comparing logging on a smart phone versus logging on the camera. That will be coming out in a week that so that will give you a lot of answers
Another question about cinestyle -- how do you get the right exposure? M50 doesn't seem to have zebras. the only tool seems to be that small histogram. I don't think this is very accurate though -- when I tried using it, I ended up with some footage that was badly clipped, and I ended up having to reshoot with a lower ISO.
Zdenka Darula in terms of walk-around vlogging though, it’s a nice compact little setup, whereas the Sony full frame with GM lens is pretty heavy on the arm :-) Anyway, I appreciate you making all these videos about my little M50, I’ve learned a lot!
Zdenka, thank you very much for your videos, they're very helpful, informative and illustrative! The fact that you're showcasing the kit lens is also great, cos that's what I'm planning to use (a decent budget beginners kit on budget, 80% result for 20% price - this kind of approach). I've bought my m50 today and am trying to figure out the ways to semi-automatically improve image in post in order to pay it minimum attention, yet getting at least a slightly noticeable improvement. I'm quite a noob in everything connected with post editing, but from what I've managed to figure out there are certain color grading presets, LUTs namely, which you can apply in post with a couple of clicks to apply certain coloring settings which can be pretty optimal. If I get everything correctly, than this approach may help save time. Have you tried these LUTs (if you even have a video about these which I haven't seen yet, than pardon me)? Are they really a one click solution? Or do they not help to avoid the tedious process of grading every video individually? I've heard there are some rec709 for cinestyle which may be ok. I haven't gotten to this point myself yet, but there are lots of confusing and contradictory opinions: some people say cinestyle + LUTs don't work for them, the others claim these work like a charm. Thanks :)
Hi Zdenka, very useful tutorial for canon m50 as me beginner you doing great job thank you so much.I have issue ,probably I don't know fully how setting internal flash. I went flash control setting and press fire where only 2 options . Fire Off Still flash not on when I shoot photos so do I need change still something else on setting ? Thanks
Hi Zdenka, Great video thanks for sharing. I have a question. I photographed a car parked on the sidewalk. Shutterstock will accept it with numbers? or better to eliminate them? I will upload like editorial. Thank you! By the way, in July sales fell in my case. So I want to upload more photos.
What about mixing footage taken by different makes of camera, do you think cinestyle is helpful in providing a more standardised base on which to colour-match videos with other clips (eg. like from a sony)? Or is it more trouble than it's worth, and one's time is better spend developing some presets that match the colours between the M50 and the Sony standard picture profiles?
@@ZdenkaDarula So what I might try to do is to shoot a colour checker on each camera, generate a device profile for each, from that generate a link profile and convert it to a 3d LUT. Then I can apply that LUT to my M50 footage to bring the colours in line with the Sony footage, and once I have a common baseline I can then apply the final colour grading adjustments. Don't know how well this will work, but I guess I'll find out :-)
Just to update you, the idea I mentioned above did not work well at all. What did work was I applyed an HLG-to-REC.709 LUT (from Paul Leeming) on the Sony footage, and backed off the saturation a touch (since Paul's LUT is for HLG, but on the Sony I was shooting HLG3, which exagerates the colour saturation a bit). I found a free LUT that maps from Cinestyle to Rec.709, and when I applied it to the Canon cinestyle footage and matched the levels to the Sony footage using a Lift/Gamma/Gain with a video scope, then the colurs came out pretty close. This then forms a really good "equal footing" basis from which to move to final colour grading off all the clips. So, if I end up shoot a mix of Canon and Sony, I think I'll use HLG3 on Sony and Cinestyle on Canon, and use the correction LUTs I have to bring the footage to a common colour baseline. If I just shoot with M50 just by itself, then probably it's easiest just to stick with Standard picture profile :-)
Wow, just found you. I see you use Zhiyun Crane M2 (?).....Do you use this with the M50 And is it possible with a long lens the 18-150mm? Many thanks if you have an idea for me.
Is it possible to change the color profile on the camera itself after you have already shot? What I mean is, let's say I shot a quick little video I want to upload to Facebook directly from my camera. No editing. But when I play it back, it looks flat and I'd like to either warm it up or increase the saturation. Can I manipulate the footage in the camera and apply a color effect before I upload? Or can that only be done in a video editing software? Thanks
Thanks for sharing. I have a Canon M50 and I will give this a try. Has anyone heard of Magic Lantern? I have been searching for it for the M50 and having a tough time finding it.
I believe you have a secret love affair with the M50. Following my instincts and your insights I took the plunge (in reality I have a bunch of EF lenses that I use with my GH5 for video) and I have been using the little M50 with surprising great results for product photography. However I might move to the R series, because I am afraid the big EF lenses may someday damage the little camera.
The big lenses could damage it if handled the wrong way... yes.. they are heavy so always hold it by lens and also on the tripod mount the lens to it.... I realized it quickly too.... I've had my eye on the R as well...🤗🎞🎥

I would look at newer gimbals. They have more updated versions now... 🌞📹📽📱📷
Thanks
It’s not possible, you have to use editing program. It is not like a smart phone. 🎬🎥📸😊
@@ZdenkaDarula Oh okay, got it. Thanks
Finally the await is end... Thank you zednka..
You are very welcome. I am glad you got your answers. Cheers
Thank you Z, for this video.
You are very welcome
Thanks for sharing. I have a Canon M50 and I will give this a try. Has anyone heard of Magic Lantern? I have been searching for it for the M50 and having a tough time finding it.
You are very welcome.... I've heard about it but don't know much.... sorry 🙂📽📱📹📷

Mámy greetings back to you
@@ZdenkaDarula 👍
I couldn’t see a huge difference between styles while watching in my phone. And I’m like you, I don’t like spending a lot of time color grading.
Yes there is not much difference.. I can see a bit more on the computer though.... time is money these days right? 🤗
Awesome tutorial.
Thank you. I am glad you liked it.
Hello from Kazakhstan & my M50
Many greetings back to you
I believe you have a secret love affair with the M50.
I've had my eye on the R as well...🤗🎞🎥
That was epic!! 🤘
Thank you.... enjoy your camera 🤗📷🎥
cinestyle suport eos m3 ??
I would have to check... I am sure it does 📹📱📷📽😊
Thanks for information...I hv m50☺
Great camera right? Enjoy!!!
All Sony cameras have log profile on 8bit Even pointshot cameras so what's the excuse canon
Right? I think it is their marketing strategy to push for more expensive products....
You look pretty in all profiles. :)

I use neutral 75% of the time, unless I have peopl in the video, then I switch to portrait.
Interesting.... I noticed natural as well and I might try it myself... I also kind of liked landscape .... thank you for sharing
4:51 that was a nice footage of log, pardon
Thanks... flat as flat goes 😁
Hi, I love your stream and almost every subject you have made videos about BUT please don't use that kind of music. It's a really pain in the butt to watch till the end! I was about to switch the sound of and I couldn't because what you say is interesting! Than has been a hard choice but I stayed and watch and now I would need to relax without anything to hear!... :)
I'm sorry to say you this but it's been such a pain that I thought I had to tell you... These kind of musics should be forbidden in anycase... it's not you fault, you're not the composer...
But I love you anyways ;))
I am very sorry... it is hard to satisfy everyone. I get complains about everything. My light, my accent, my pronunciation, location, background and so on...list is long. I would hze to shut down the channel if j listened to all... I choose music which reflects my style and who I am. I am sorry you didn't like one. Every video has different music so you might enjoy the next one. Have a beautiful day and thank you for the support.
Zdenka Darula keep up the great work. Improve where you can and keep pumping out killer content. I always like the music personally.
Thank you so much.... I'll try the best I can... thank you
