Amazing vid to be honest I thought I was watching a 50k sub UA-camr love the explanation and the quality was very useful for me gained a sub btw keep it up
For sure, the Sigma 18-35 might be the best apsc lens of all time but keep in mind if you are able to fit it on a speed booster it will only be usable after 28mm. Anything below that will give you heavy vignetting, that is if you are able to attach it to a speed booster at all. Due to it being an APS-C lens i recommend pairing it with the normal EF-m to EF/EF-s adapter instead.
Dude I remember skipping over your videos, now I wish I would have watch.... and I am picking you to help my get all this stuff together.... don't worry if you don't see this comment, I will hurt you down .... you are the best 👌 peace and love always ✌️
What's up guys? Please note the following important info. The viltrox speed booster is meant to be used with full frame EF Lenses, it is not meant to be used with your m-mount ef-m lenses or EF-S lenses as it won't fit with those lenses. The commlite adapter also is to be used with either EF full frame lenses or EF-s crop sensor lenses. The difference between the speed booster and the commlite adapter is that the speed booster gives you an extra stop of light, it gives you shallower depth of field and a wider viewing angle which is closer to full-frame whereas the adapter simply allows you to expand your lens choices by allowing your m50 to work with ef-s and ef lenses such as the full-frame nifty fifty f1.8 EF lens or the sigma 18-35 f.18 EF-s crop sensor lens. I prefer EF & EF-s lenses over EF-m lenses not just because the lenses are better in many cases but also because they can be used with canon full frame cameras. That way if you upgrade your m50 in the future you won't have to get all new lenses. Just wanted to make sure it was clear. Also check out this playlist for more content! ua-cam.com/video/mQ1-IIh_h60/v-deo.html
@@jawwadchanna I wouldn't use aps-c lenses such as the Sigma 18-35 with the speed booster. If you were to do it you would get vignette on most of the focal range but around 30mm the vignette should be gone, you wouldn't be able to make it fit without modifying the lens which is not worth the hassle. In the case of crop lenses like the sigma the commlite adapter is the way to go.
So even though the Sigma 18-35mm is an EF-S mount the Viltrox Speed Booster can still be used with it? I didn’t see it on the list of compatible lenses and most comments I’ve seen said you can’t use EF-S lenses with the Speed Booster (but obviously it sounds like you are right now, so just looking for clarification on how it works out for you)
this is the best guiding video to watch.. i've Seen Almost dozens of videos of m50 lenses , but the knowlenge i got from this video , I never got from other.. thank you sir.. love from Assam...
I've got the speed booster and the nifty 50. This makes the focal length about 57mm and the aperture drops all the way down to f1.2. The bokeh looks really nice, though focus points don't seem as sharp as from a native lens. Also, I think the autofocus slows down a bit using this combination, even though I've updated the firmware on the speed booster. Three parts (camera with EF-M mount, third party speed booster plus EF lens) working in synch creates some reduction of quality and speed, I think.
Yes that is possible but you also have to consider that the nifty fifty is not the sharpest lens or the fastest focusing lens to begin with. It is an ultra budget lens. If you notice the same effects on a higher quality lens then it may actually be the speed booster but it is hard to say based solely on the performance of that one lens.

You’ve done it again, Fulaan!! You’re getting a SUB from me because you give tips straight up with easy words that beginners can understand. I really appreciate that 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 You should have more subs! Much deserved for all your hard work. Thank youuuu ☺️
I think the M50 could be my UA-cam camera. I have the Sony FX30 for more cinematic video. The M50 autofocus only works as Phase Detect in HD. It changes to contrast based in 4K. Which is why I would consider it for UA-cam. Although, I can uprez the HD to 4K in DaVinci Resolve. :)
Your video quality is amazing, your content is rich yet very simple, love the the different angles you used throughout the video. I'm just wondering if you shoot the video in your M50 or the EOS-R?
Been binge watching your content brother. Couldn’t believe you only had 5k subs. Can’t wait to be apart of your growth. I’m going to start a channel in the next few months in the travel niche. Cheers
No problem, I will try to keep them coming. If there are any specific topics you want me to cover regarding the m50 please do let me know. Take care and thanks for the support!
I'm still using my Canon m50. Shot some great footage with it since 2018. Then found out about cinestyle... I'm gonna upgrade to one of the Netflix approved cameras so that my documentary has a better chance at getting streamed on the platform as an original.
Your are One of my fav tech youtuber! I just love the way you speak! Your videos are , To the point! Short, sweet and informative! Lots of love from Sikkim! ❤️🤗🫂 Btw,Canon m 50 mark 2 is my dream camera ❤️
@@FulaanCreative I have the m50 and want to use it for vlogging myself playing golf with friends. Is there any lens or gears that you recommend for that type of filming? And is cinematic setting appropriate?
@@jonathant1797 Depends on what type of vibe you are going for really. I mean is it supposed to be funny or serious / dramatic etc. Generally speaking when shooting outdoors the the main two things are the time of day and also having an ND filter. If you are going for a dramatic, cinematic type of look then shoot only at golden hour (after sunrise and 1-2 hours before sunset). If it's not meant to be dramatic then anytime of day can work as long as you have an ND filter. For vlogging lenses my favorite is the canon 10-18 and for telephoto shots I would go with the EF-s 55-250mm. I think that should be a good combo. Hope that helps!
@@FulaanCreative Thanks for the detail suggestions. Since it's outdoor, do you think a speed booster add any value? My concern with the low cost booster is focus hunting and lose fitting, which could be counter productive having it. Also, should I shot using gimbal or tripod? Do you recommend any particular model? I would really like to keep the gears to carry at the minimum and simplified. Thanks!
@@jonathant1797 The viltrox booster doesn't cause any focus hunting as far as know. The only value it will add is giving you a wider viewing angle, better low light and shallower depth of field. I think a simple tripod will do the trick, a gimbal is overkill for most scenarios and can be a pain to setup each time. Check the video description in the section where it says budget studio gear, there you will find links for a tripod and nd filter etc. that pair well with the m50.
Thanks for this Fulaan. I create videos with the M50 and have the 22mm lens, but I feel like my quality is good, but not great. Will try this CineStyle and your LUTs to see if I can push it further.
You are welcome. Soon I will make a video about how to apply the LUTs properly so that it doesn't look overdone etc. should be out in the next week or 2. Thanks & take care.
I feel like if I don’t follow these steps you’re gonna drag me into an alley in Brooklyn and kick my ass. Sorry, totally joking. Just got the M50 today and binge watching. And subscribing. Great video!

Great channel I have the Canon M50 Mark II this is a great channel will be following you with both my channels information man show and Infor Media. I learned A lot thank you 👍👍✔
Dude. I love your show. I use a Sony a7 IV as my main camera. That said. Im wanting another camera for just food(video) close-ups and love the m50. Question, Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 Art DC HSM Lens for Canon, Black (210101)Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 or the Sigma 16 mm f/1.4. I do believe the 18-35 will have some zooming capabilities that could be a plus. Whats your thoughts?? Cheers
Thanks man! I appreciate that. For me it's the 18-35 all the way. It's like having a bag full of prime lenses as it's f1.8 through out the whole focal range and it's tack sharp all the way through as well. It's a little on the heavy side but not a big deal for me. You also have to consider that you'll need an adapter which is about $40 which will also add a little weight but again for me it's totally worth it.
Great camera. I bought the sigma 18-35mm 1.8 lens with vilcrox speed booster. Why didn't you mention when going down to 18mm there would be a dark vignette around the corners? Felt like important info.
The speed booster is meant for full frame lenses. The sigma 18-35 is aps-c so it needs the normal adapter. When recommending the speed booster I was referencing the nifty 50 f1.8. It was clarified in the video description but I agree it could have been articulated better.
What a man. Bless up for a great review. Let the light shine and keep on filming. also...please test out Luts and adaptors for Nikon or Canon Efs or Rokinon Primes, Xeen T1.5 or Carl Zeiss Cp2 EF lenses. :)
@@FulaanCreative just bought that viltrox adapter and I have Canon m50 with its standard lens. Looking for a wide lens with a better bokeh and blurry background for vlogging. Which lens do you recommend?
Hey Fulaan! I love your videos!! Do you like the Canon M50 over the Sony ZV-1? I’ve been torn between the two because there’s so many opinions out there…. 🤦🏾♀️
Thanks! I personally would go with the M50 for many reasons but the main one being that the zv-1 doesn't have interchangeable lenses. Being able to swap lenses is pretty crucial.
it's not a must in any case especially if it's just talking head videos but it's most definitely nice to be able to switch lenses. Especially for times when you may have to vlog or shoot b-roll but if you really like that camera it's fine, most things can be done with just one lens, it's not a make it or break it either way in my opinion but for me it's crucial to be able to change lenses. Hope that helps.
@@SubiKinubi agreed! I use it for many forms of photography (even close action shots with skateboard photography) and it's awesome!! So sharp and versatile
Thank you for making such great and practical videos. Is speed booster with 50 mm lens good for making interviews, vlogging, short films or should I choose another lens? I already have 50 mm without speed booster and I know it makes noise and stabilization is not so good. Thanks! 😊
Thanks! The 50mm is with speed booster is good for all those things except vlogging. It's too tight for that. For vlogging i would buy the Canon 10-18.
Loving your videos! Thank you. Since you can’t use the drop-in ND filter adapter and the speed booster at the same time. Is there an alternative ND filter you recommend for the Mark ii with speed booster and nifty fifty set up?
Can we put Canon 10-18 Wide Angle lens on a Canon M50 Mark II? What is your recommendation of body, Canon EOS R50 or Canon M50 Mark II? In the past I had a Nikon D700
Liked this vid and your style. Well done. Been using my iPhone 12 for a while to shoot YT and stills, but need an upgrade. Looking at the Canon M50MII. Last camera I had was a DSLR Canon that was 8mp. I had the 70-200 F2.8L lens, but sold it way back. Should have held onto it.
@@carlosgonzalez-kh8gm at $2000 the new Lumix S5 mark Ii looks real good. At $1500 the EOS R is nice camera and at $1200ish the EOS RP is an option as well.
You are welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting. The speed booster only works with full frame lenses. For the 18-35 you would just use the normal adapter not the speed booster. Both the speed booster and normal adapter have had great AF results for me regardless of which lens I put on them.
Hi Fulaan awesome video again my friend, can I ask you to make a slowmotion b-roll of a product? And explain the procedure? As you know I intend to buy this camera for photos and that specific, but I really need to see if it's suitable for what I need, the fps get me a little concerned, but I belive that the mark 2 can do it with this accessories. Just need to see a good one to make my final decision. Thanks a million Fulaan.
Here is a few examples from other creators though ua-cam.com/video/OSBYlAcOTBQ/v-deo.html , ua-cam.com/video/_MXKTLUuNCY/v-deo.html , ua-cam.com/video/oj3ckwgMN2M/v-deo.html
Hey brother im about to buy the 18-35 lens & was wondering your opinion now on the autofocus? a lot of comments say they have trouble w it, i wil be shooting a lot on my tripod, short films , any feedback is appreciated
Out of that list of cameras I would prefer the R6. If you had an extra $1000 though I would get the Sony A7S3. I don't believe there is any better camera for video at the moment than the A7S3. For Photography the Eos R is the best value for money in my opinion.
Yeah for sure. Much shallower depth of field. Just note that without the speed booster your looking at a focal length of about 80mm due to the crop so perfect for portraits and b-roll but might be a little tight for other applications.
I think it is. In this price range it is mostly only this camera and the sony zve-10 that are viable in my opinion. The sony is a little bit more expensive. I made a video comparing them that you can check out to see some of the main differences.

I'm still using my Canon m50. Shot some great footage with it since 2018. Then found out about cinestyle... I'm gonna upgrade to one of the Netflix approved cameras so that my documentary has a better chance at getting streamed on the platform as an original.
The C70 is the m50 on steroids. Big step up though.
I am grateful for this info!
Thanks Jon! Glad it was helpful.

good stuff, Fulaan.
Hey, I appreciate that Jonathan!

Awesome! Thanks man.
Dude. I love your show. I use a Sony a7 IV as my main camera. That said. Im wanting another camera for just food(video) close-ups and love the m50. Question,
Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 Art DC HSM Lens for Canon, Black (210101)Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 or the Sigma 16 mm f/1.4.
@@FulaanCreative Awesome. Cheers
Great video ✅🫡
I appreciate that.
Wow this helped me alotttt thank you so much

@@FulaanCreative just bought that viltrox adapter and I have Canon m50 with its standard lens. Looking for a wide lens with a better bokeh and blurry background for vlogging. Which lens do you recommend?
@@AhmedGamal1 this may be a good fit for you amzn.to/3p2rtTe
@@FulaanCreative even if I’m just doing UA-cam videos? Like talking head videos?
it's not a must in any case especially if it's just talking head videos but it's most definitely nice to be able to switch lenses. Especially for times when you may have to vlog or shoot b-roll but if you really like that camera it's fine, most things can be done with just one lens, it's not a make it or break it either way in my opinion but for me it's crucial to be able to change lenses. Hope that helps.
@@FulaanCreative yessss it helps!!! Thank you so much!!!!
👍
You can also get the Canon 32mn F1.4 efm lens. Peace ✌️
Beast of a lens but I don't buy EF-M anymore as I like to have one set of lenses that I can use both on the m50 and EOS R.
Excellent video!
Thank you very much!
Well done video - straight to the point! I am guessing you can get the same or better results with the Sigma 16mm f1.4 EF M lens, right?
Oh yeah, for sure. From What I have heard it's a beast of a lens as well.
Best lens for the money, you won't regret it.
Actually, maybe try the sigma 30mm 1.4, it’s as close to the nifty as you can get and the sigma glass is prime
@@SubiKinubi agreed! I use it for many forms of photography (even close action shots with skateboard photography) and it's awesome!! So sharp and versatile
I just got a M50 Mark ii will the speed booster work with that? Thanks in advance. Also awesome post as usual.
Thanks! Yes it will work just fine. You would just need to use it with any full frame EF lens.
@@FulaanCreative hey thanks a bunch
thank u so much, amazing video!
Thank for watching and commenting Valentin!
@@FulaanCreative Thank you very much for your tips!
Loving your videos! Thank you.
Since you can’t use the drop-in ND filter adapter and the speed booster at the same time. Is there an alternative ND filter you recommend for the Mark ii with speed booster and nifty fifty set up?
There isn't but it's more like the speed booster is for indoors and ND for outdoors so they are fine separate.
@@FulaanCreative Thank you! I appreciate that.
many thanks
You are welcome
Great content Sir, thanks
Thanks man! I appreciate it.
Can we put Canon 10-18 Wide Angle lens on a Canon M50 Mark II?
What is your recommendation of body, Canon EOS R50 or Canon M50 Mark II?
In the past I had a Nikon D700
I'd go for the R50. yes you can use the 10-18 EF-S lens on the M50 and R50 given that you have the right adapter.
Thanks! Yeah, you can't go wrong with the m50, as long as you slap a good lens on it you should be good to go!
@@FulaanCreative Thank you
Wich camera full frame do you recommend me not a $6K but from $700.00 to $1,800.00 budget
For mostly video or photos?
@@FulaanCreative mostly photography and some videos
@@carlosgonzalez-kh8gm at $2000 the new Lumix S5 mark Ii looks real good. At $1500 the EOS R is nice camera and at $1200ish the EOS RP is an option as well.
what about turning the cannon r50 to a full frame camera?
The viltrox speed booster should do the trick
Thanks for the video! How does autofocus perform with the Viltox speedbooster and Sigma 18-35 when shooting video (1080p)?
You are welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting. The speed booster only works with full frame lenses. For the 18-35 you would just use the normal adapter not the speed booster. Both the speed booster and normal adapter have had great AF results for me regardless of which lens I put on them.
@@FulaanCreative Thanks. I thought of a speedbooster and the sigma to shoot in 4k. Considering the additional crop...

Sorry to hear that.
Hey brother im about to buy the 18-35 lens & was wondering your opinion now on the autofocus? a lot of comments say they have trouble w it, i wil be shooting a lot on my tripod, short films , any feedback is appreciated
Never had any issues with the AF at all. Check all my old m50 videos, I was using the 18-35 on many of those.
@@FulaanCreative nice thankyou sm bro keep going up
Bro 5d mark iv and a7iii and EOS R and r6 which one is best for wedding photography and long term use
Out of that list of cameras I would prefer the R6. If you had an extra $1000 though I would get the Sony A7S3. I don't believe there is any better camera for video at the moment than the A7S3. For Photography the Eos R is the best value for money in my opinion.
do you still recommend this camera in 2023?
I would sat this takes its place ua-cam.com/video/ERLe5rDdsu8/v-deo.html
A sub for this great content
Awesome! Thanks Zuba.
I'm wondering what the best settings would be if I don't want to do anything in post. I simply want to take a 4K video and not do any editing?
The standard profile is good. As long as there is good lighting and proper exposure.
I'm considering getting the 50mm f1.8 lens. Would you say that will give my M50 a shallower depth of field than the kit lens?
Yeah for sure. Much shallower depth of field. Just note that without the speed booster your looking at a focal length of about 80mm due to the crop so perfect for portraits and b-roll but might be a little tight for other applications.
This man can rap

Will this adaptor work with the regular Canon M50 lens
No only EF lenses.
Is this camera still worth buying today? Hoping to stay within this price category but wanting to make sure I get the best.
I think it is. In this price range it is mostly only this camera and the sony zve-10 that are viable in my opinion. The sony is a little bit more expensive. I made a video comparing them that you can check out to see some of the main differences.
