- Hi there everyone! This song was suggested by Olly Hudson and jeremy beristain!
Is it a ballad? How would you all classify this one? Whatever it is Dave liked the sparse but in-the-pocket music and was impressed by Thom's vocals.
Thanks for the suggestion!
"I don't know what this is" < that's a perfectly normal reaction to Radiohead. The 1st time i saw them perform live i had heard of them but not listened to their music that was my exact reaction. 20 years later and 11 gigs later i still find them otherworldy. This particular song and performance does cover me in goosebumps and that doesn't feel like a bad thing.
I'd call it one of their best......but you haven't done The Daily Mail yet
live performance for sure
The Daily Mail, from the basement 👌❤️
Hi Dominic! Here's Dave's reaction to The Daily Mail ua-cam.com/video/FFvBkRorltc/v-deo.html Thank you for the suggestion =)
I would say a huge influence on muse - also I think he’s a big jazz guy - would love some of the more jazz influenced or unique time signature songs like
The National anthem
Pyramid song
Life in a glass house
Videotape
The numbers
Great reaction again. Radiohead definitely has influenced all music including all modern Brit bands like Muse/ Arctic Monkeys etc. Would love to see Dave react to more Radiohead songs from Kid A as well in the future. Cheers.
I love how strange this song is to look up if you think about it "Radiohead Nude in the basement" sounds more like a sentence more than a song title lol that being said it still is my favourite of their In The Basement tracks
I’d pay to watch that.
Like a new Saw film.
New the to channel here - so glad i dropped in. Dave, you're a marvel - its so refreshing to hear someone just speak simply and honestly about the music they're hearing, without all the B/S - plus you clearly know your stuff. Insightful, comical, respectful. Cant wait to see more reactions. By the way, Radiohead have been kicking the shit out of indie/grunge/rock/alt in the UK since the early 90;s and they're not done yet, not by a long stretch ;-)
You're a great musician. You noticed many subtleties on first listen, like the switch to major.
Radiohead does so many different things as a band they can often be a genre unto themselves. And as a bonus if you are into theory they can be very interesting they are the only band that compares favorably with the great bands of the 60s and 70s like the Beatles,Zepplin and Pink Floyd ect. they even have some prog elements in a number of songs one of my other favorite bands Rush the Bass player Geddy Lee has the Radiohead album OK Computer on his list of ten albums he would bring to a desert island I love when my favorite bands like each others music.
Radiohead live bassement + weed = 🚀🚀🚀
NIce! Maybe Radiohead - Bodysnatchers (From the Basement) is next ;)
I literally said that about Muse as well last night❤️💪🏽❤️ great observation
Like the double diamond Sign in the background must be an avid skier
House of cards live from the basement, this is great
You mentioned Clutch. I subscribed. 🤘🏻
Suggest a song and I'll get Dave to react to it!
@@samechick ua-cam.com/video/KeQY9-fYYpA/v-deo.html
Since it's obvious he knows Clutch 🤘🏻
Dave is more than down to react to something he's already heard. A lot of the time it doesn't work out that way, but when it does he has more to say for the most part.
@@samechick if he'd like to go with Clutch...Far Country 🤘🏻
I want to hang out with Dave for some reason (and maybe smoke a doob) he always makes me laugh and does not say all that much but you can tell he knows his shit.
"sounds like an influence on Muse" lol yeah we'll just call it an "influence" not a "ripoff"
Turn the volume up man. Yes he's got an ebo. 😅😅😅
The one video you're listening to uploaded on official Radiohead channel is busted. There's so much noise in that version. You should have listened to the one uploaded on 'From the Basement'. Same video but the sound quality is better.
Yup the official version was blocked by RHs label.
@@samechick It's still up. From the official 'Radiohead' channel; ua-cam.com/video/b_jj9r4b5i4/v-deo.html
You can hear the audio peaking or clipping early on @ 0:03, and some parts later.
Here's the better version on 'From The Basement' channel; ua-cam.com/video/9cBUrIw2sQk/v-deo.html
It's the same video, but this one has proper audio quality.
Bonito
yea Muse heavily influenced by Radiohead. especially Muses early work.
I don't see it. All I see are two people who have good falsetto voices. The two bands styles are so different. Muse are (were) much heavier.
@@cathyaldridge4550 mainly there early stuff. radioheads too. the bends album, i think muse must of loved that album.
@@cathyaldridge4550 Radiohead clearly influenced Showbiz
@@moonillusions832 I wouldn't say they were "heavily" influenced. That would infer they sound very similar and they do not IMO.
Hard to classify tune. Kind of like a mellow jazz ballad just with rock trappings. Haunting. Cool mood-setter. Here's a recco for Dave to check with cool instrumentation plus a mini cautionary tale video for him to analyze/critique from the band, "Hail The Sun". Its the tune, Lies ua-cam.com/video/oRwLPDbkKd0/v-deo.html
Muse is the flaccid version of Radiohead.
