@Erik, in the 70’s he flew cargo/mail then F’4’s in the military. He got hired on with Delta in 1980 on the DC9. I believe the journey went DC9, 727, MD88, 757/767, 777.

He has a big 777 print that a lot of pilots signed but I feel like he deserved more. Water salute or something. If you talk to him he says it’s not a big deal because in true pilot fashion he’s as modest as you can imagine.

SYD-LAX is the ultimate transpac. Nothing to do but sleep. The A350 has by far the best cabin air and environment. Arrive feeling less wrecked than on any other type
Would you say its better than the 380? Just curious? I know for sure that the 350 is far superior in comfort, noise and everything compared to the 777 and 787....but wondering what you thought about it compared to the beautiful 380.
Awesome, I took the same flight in the reverse direction in late 2021. Also mainly empty. Delta is surely the best of the US carriers flying to Australia, and I'd say the A350 with its spacious cabin and amenities is the best plane for the trip. Better than the A380 and B787.
21:37 From those 7 categories, the score was 66 out of 70. (94%) Overall - only 40 out of 60 (67%) . Doesn’t make sense - huge discrepancy - or am I “missing” something ?
Very nice. I have yet to fly on any A350. Hopefully soon I can try it. I have heard Delta is one of the better airlines to fly from Sydney to US. Good to see this review.
I don't think that was intentional; it was more likely an unexpected gust of wind that required quick correction. Wing waves and other maneuvers are fine if the plane were higher up off the ground. Doing a wing wave mere seconds after rotation and leaving the ground, is just asking for trouble.
I always loved that even though you are travelling in a plane going 650mph, its still amazingly quiet. 13:27 flying below sea level 8 miles in the air? Its cool that when you arrived in LAX you basically arrived the day before you left lol.
Nice! I flew Sydney to LAX on United on Dec 28, in business - and it was about 20% full. I was only one of two people in the 2nd business cabin! It was eerie (but good!).
I can't image a 20percent full cabin. Nice. I'm flying from Atlanta, GA to Johannesburg, South Africa later this summer. 16 hours of fun. I will be in the same economy class on my trip. But it's already almost full.

I just sprung a little extra money for Comfort plus seats It was $149 extra each way but based on how my 63 year old body handled last months flight from London home to the USA at just 9 hours in economy I think it will be worth it for the extra legroom and recline. The recline is supposed to be double that of economy.
Delta & Virgin(Australia,America) are really good airlines for this route .. the quality of service is excellent… hopefully things will be back to normal so we can go for holidays. Breath taking beautiful views when land or take off from the beautiful Sydney airport

Yes, business and premium were both about 75% full. I noticed that all the passengers were Australians visiting the States. No Americans other than myself (I’m dual). I’d chalk that up to the fact that Americans can’t visit AUS yet.
