Hello, I have changed my exhaust manifold by this method but I didn't loosen the turbine from the exhaust system. When I started to tighten the manifold to the turbine one of the bolts overscrewed, so the sealing wasnt good and now I have leack with the new manifold. Anyway I will fix that problem. I recommend to everybody that desided to use this method to loosen the exhaust system from the turbine before to do it. Anyway this method its quite easy and useful job becouse you work from the top of the engine and you could do some maintanance on the engine that doesnt cost much and its a must ( cleaning intake manifold, removing swirls and things like that )
Hello, I tightened all the exhaust manifold bolts to 20 nm with the dinamo, but I am unable to screw in the 3 hex bolts that goes from the exhaust manifold to the turbo. What I'm doing wrong?
I have done this job on the few 530d beems. I have never moved the rocker cover. Just the manifold, and the pipes. It's hard, but the access is big enough to do it. Cheers...
hi Kamil I am new please tell me everything you had to disassemble. And please, what keys have you used? If there is a different one, please explain it to me. Thanks a lot
You need to install all bolts to the correct torque. By quick search O found this page, but you can google specs yourself www.tunemyeuro.com/m57-common-torque-specs/
Hey, that voice witch comes out of motor early on this video. I mena the sound when its running 600-700rpm and its like standard ”knock knock....” so where it comes? Anyone know?
Hi there, I am sorry for late reply but I lost my family member :-(. Ad for the noise the only one that wad odd came from rear bearing on the alternator. Luckly I had old alternator, I rebuild it and now engine sound normal again.
In my case it all works fine, car have plenty of power. Maybe issue is somewhere else? If you have diagnostics then maybe this can tell more. I know that very often DPF can cause loose of power.

Hello mate, watched alot of your videos, they are brilliant! Im looking to do the head gasket eventually (low compression on Cylinder 1 and 2) on my pre lci e61 535d. Is this the process id be following to lead onto the head? Thanks
Hi, thank you, yes these steps will help you to get there, but you will need few more, plus the tool to lock timing on the engine. It will be good to get help of someone that did it in the past. Also please know that the vacuum pump mounting ring is welded, do not try to remove it. I have seen people taking it out and then had oil leakage from front of the engine. Good luck with your job 💪
@AndyN1 apologies for the late reply, and thank you for replying. Thanks for the information will keep it in mind, can you tell me more about locking the timing as i need to do more homework on it. I've yet to get a hold of the tool. I'm also using Ista to help me, will hopefully start the job in the next couple of days. I am no mechanic but have done other jobs on my car, this will be the biggest so far 😅 Exhaust manifold looks to be a tricky job, being the 535d. Is there anyway i can message you directly if I need a bit of advice when it comes to the timing? Thanks

hiya buddy i followed your video with the torque setting but its still smoking around the manifold is there a way that the gasket should sit or is the old carbon burning of. i just dont know what i,m doing wrong. many thanks in advance again

Hi ,Andy .Great video and you did very good job . I have a BMW E 60 525d 2005 M57 engine same as your . My turbo has go on and i want to replace it my self .I need some advice ,which one it`s the easy way to remove it from the top or underneath ? That`s my first time and i`m not sure if i`ll manage to sort it out .Thanks .
Hi, in some point I did removed my turbo, I have done it from the top, but it was as part of the bigger job as swirlflaps crushed one of my pistons therefore my engine was in bits anyway. But when I was making this movie I think that turbo was exposed well enough to be removed
Hi Andy, I think that I have the same problem.. because there is the same sound, smoke when I hard accelerate the engine and lack of power. I would like to do the job, but first of all I have a question to you.. If i follow the second procedure " take the injectors out " So when I put everything back together...the screws around the fuel injectors and all around the engine I should use a torque wrench for them or not ? Thank you for help with this video !! Really helpful :):)

Andy, can you please tell me, did you loose the turbo bolts? Because the exhaust manifold does not align with the turbo inlet. thank you
Yes, I had the same, I had to skip installing plate that connects turbo to main engine block the one that is in triangle shape

Andy when u take out a head of engine plastic thing you put later new gasket ?
Super video. Where have you seen that the injectors need to be reprogrammed if not put back in same order?
