- Once again, James O'Brien finds himself pressing a caller to explain what 'woke' truly means.
Caller James argues that David Cameron introduced "less Conservative and more woke" policies to appease those outside his party. However, O'Brien challenges this view.
The conversation then shifts to the caller's frustration with 'wokeness,' which he dismisses as 'ultra-liberal nonsense.'
Eventually, the caller defines wokeness as 'men being women and women being men,' along with 'all this stuff about there being 46 different genders.'

People will say "That's not a bigoted dog whistle, words mean what they mean" and then you ask what the words they used mean and they go "Come on, you know what I mean".
My best approximation on how to answer "you know what I'm talking about" is... "I know what kind of things you refer to, but I have generally positive opinions on those things, so I'd like a clearer definition so we can talk frankly about pros and cons"

@@markwelch3564I agree. It’s often from fairly well off, often elderly people. Also, people tend to down play luck and circumstance in their success. So some guy who bought his house in 1975, thinks that young people today should not have any problem, as he worked hard. No doubt he did, but materially it’s completely different. No amount of saving on avocados and iPhones will make up for the wage to house price gap. It’s just awful to see how cynical these people can be and the distain they hold for people less well off than them.

Woke means (and I mean by its actualy, real definition) that you are aware of the systemic problems that exist in your own society. You are aware of the racial discrimination and gender inequality that exists from ages past and still causes problems. And you want to combat them because you view all humans as equal and believe they should only be judged on their merit.

To me Woke means having empathy, letting people live their lives how they want to, letting people love who they want. If no one is getting hurt, why even get involved and tend to your own business. Saying woke is “anti-british” says a lot about what he thinks it means to be British.
Some aspects of Conservative Party policy are “woke” 🙊 for it to be not Woke, you’d need to evidently not care about your voters or community… and just be creating policy to line your own pockets…

Being woke means fighting against all social injustice wherever it is seen or perceived to be seen. So many problems with that as peoples perceptions can be very different. As a rule when you are young it sounds like a great idea but the older you get the more you realise complete equality is unmeasurable and therefore unattainable. People like James just make money by talking about it so great for him.
